Having arrived at 11:50 we were told we couldn't order meals untill 12;00 why they couldn't take our order 10 mins early I do not understand how they can afford to lose custom like this,we go to Keydells most weekends,However we are now enjoying our lunch at Hilliers.

We went to Keydells principally to look for some containers for the garden and found a huge variety of all shapes, colours and prices. Having chosen the pots we wanted, we decided to visit The Enchanted Walk advertised on billboards around the grounds. We paid at the desk and was given a ticket that was dated and annotated. For 2 children and 3 adults the price was £23. 45 which we thought was a little pricey, but were looking forward to the experience as we had been to their Christmas Walk through some years before. We followed the signs to the start of the walk and were greeted at a desk by a very grumpy man who quite frankly was rude. I handed over our very expensive ticket and he brusquely then said he needed to see our receipt. I found it in my purse and handed it over. He kept the ticket and handed back the receipt without any manners and nodded towards the door that marked the entrance. The Enchanted Walk was well done with plenty to look at and keep the children amused. More written signage would have been a useful addition to each scene. We wandered through, back and then through again to get our money's worth and luckily it was not busy and so the children could zip from scene to scene easily. It was enjoyable, colourful and entertaining. We also visited the cafe for some lunch. The sausage rolls were large and tasty, the egg sandwiches delicious, as was the brie, bacon and cranberry panini. The beans on toast were plentiful served on 2 slices of crusty white toast which our grandson devoured voraciously. A shortage of staff meant we had a little wait, but the waiting made us even more pleased to see such lovely food when it arrived.

I took my child to the enchanted walk today as we have previously really enjoyed the Christmas walks. The cost was £4.95 per person (just under £10 for the two of us), On entering the walk we were met with a smell of chemicals and a damp, musty odour. The displays were nice and we enjoyed looking at them but I did expect there to be more of them. It took us around 5 minutes to walk our way from start to finish and unfortunately the smell continued the whole way. I was quite disappointed with this walk as I had expected it to have the same magic and excitement as the Christmas walk. It almost felt as if it was being used as storage. I appreciate that tickets cover overheads of lighting etc, however I felt the experience did not match the amount charged.

After recently going through a stillbirth, I have been gardening a lot this summer as way of making myself feel better. My trips have all been fine until today when I was served at the till by a very rude member of staff. I approached the till with my items in the cart and you have to tell the assistant what you have. She asked how many pots I had and I thought she was referring to my pots of flowers to which I replied 4. Then she pointed to my empty plant pots and asked how many there were of those and I said 3, to which she aggressively said "Right, I JUST asked you how many there were and you said there 4." I said, "I thought you meant the pots of flowers." It was a simple miscommunication, and the woman didn't need to be so nasty to me. After everything I've been through, I don't need to be spoken to so rudely when I get out of the house and try to get on with my life as best I can. I've spent hundreds of pounds there this summer and after being made to feel so uncomfortable, I don't think I'll be back. There are other garden centres where staff members don't go out of their way to make you feel so uncomfortable.

Took my sons (5 and 3 years old) to see santa and do the winter land walk at the weekend. Both were outstanding. Queues were busy (Saturday so expected) but well worth it. The santa was absolutely excellent and convinced even me! He came across as such a lovely man, and my sons were in awe of him. They had a good amount of time to have a chat with him. I was pleased we were allowed to take photos but actually we ended up buying them anyway (£15 per photo but buy one get one half price) as they were lovely. Then you go straight into the walk. This was very busy but wonderful. I took them to Funland at Hayling last summer which was much more expensive and nowhere near as good. Well done, Keydells!!

Egg was undercooked the toast was warm bread, I doubt it had been in a toaster. This was one of the worst breakfasts I have ever received. Cheap, poor quality food and not worth the money. One rasher of bacon was overcooked and another barely cooked. If I could give zero stars I would.

Our excitement was cut short when we went though the door though, £10 for a family ticket for a walk though that was no bigger then my garden. We were left feeling very disappointed as past walk though in the past have been amazing. This just seemed to look like a quick money earner to make us loses from the pandemic in our eyes.

Myself and my Partner are exempt from wearing a face covering and we was turned away. We was told wear a face covering or basically sling your hook. Such a shame as it was a good garden centre when John was running it, since the new owners have taken over its terrible. It saddens me to write this review but I don't think I can ever go back again. They are breaking the law by turning away exempt customers under the equality act 2010. The security guard Aka "Shirt filler" tries to intimate you to wear a mask even after explaining you are unable to due to your exemption... Not the kind of place I want to be spending my hard earnt money. I can't see a future for this garden centre with the current economy and the way they are disregarding long time customers. Very sad. Very sad indeed. - I would also like to add that if you voice your opinion on their facebook page or ask questions about exempt customers being turned away then expect to be blocked by them... Poorly run garden centre.. Its a shambles... This review definitely replaces my previous review from last year. Also expect a cr*ppy response from the owners - its nothing new, you can see the replies are truely unproffesional and not to a standard John would have wanted the company to run from. I'm expecting a shirty reply to this review, but lets just wait and see shall we.

Where do i start? Let start with the staff - They are very helpful, kind, caring and almost like friends and family, they are working so hard throughout this pandemic to keep the nursery running and provide customer satisfaction (I know there is small amount of people not happy with the Christmas event pricing this year but that's to be expected with the pandemic, staffing and PPE costs etc)The establishment itself - It very original, its not your average garden center, this is what makes this place stand out, its very unique and it to its own. The layout of the building is great, we visit here regularly all year round and we know where we are going and what we kind find where.Pricing - Yes it will be a little more pricey but you have to remember this isn't a chain business, this is the only establishment in the world, so prices will vary to other well known competitors, but to be honest I don't mind paying the prices because it is worth the value. The products sold here are far from cheap, they last. We have had our beautiful Christmas decorations for years from this place.Don't take my word, or anyone else word for it, you need to visit this place, you will not be disappointed. Enjoy the events they hold, put money into a local business, I dont want to see this place to go, this is almost become apart of our lives to visit, support local and lets keep this place going for many many years to come.Staff - Thank you so much, you are so underrated you deserve all the credit from the positive feedback, because if it wasn't for you, we wouldn't be able to visit such a wonderful establishment. Thank you again for all your hard work , all year round.

Customer relations are important! I was depressed and annoyed that of the two enquiries made of Staff while on a visit today both, it seemed, were resented by them. One gave her directions like a sergeant major and without a smile, the second, again without a smile, gave me minimum information and the impression she was too busy to deal with customers. In these challenging days of the virus, care and courtesy are surely more valued and desired than ever.

There were lots of lovely plants to choose from, and so I made my way to the tills. Wow! The staff on the tills were almost hostile to the customers. They were rude, abrupt, barking contradictory orders about where to stand etc. Customers were looking at each other, we felt like we were treading on egg shells! It really isn’t necessary. It’s such a shame, because people can buy plants from anywhere, it’s the customer service people come back for. And I won’t be rushing back!

Loved Keydell Nurseries Winter Wonderland. From the Cafe to the Wonderland. Found toilets to be clean and easily accessed. Well worth the money to see all the lights and the animated animals, etc. Only downside was the lack of parking. Luckily my car is 4WD so parked on the end in the muddy grass area at the end of the line of cars. Definately going to come again next year and make it a tradition. They just need to make the inside cafe area larger to cater for the influx of visitors and have a car parking attendant on duty to cope with the number of cars. Best Christmas visit for years!

Not visited here before and should have realised by the queue of traffic waiting to get in that it was going to be manic (main attraction was the winter forest/santa experience). Took an age to find a parking space and then it was just one big push and shove to get around inside the garden centre. There was a massive queue for the santa experience and although prices reasonable at £3.50 for children’s/£2.50 for adults (if I recall correctly), we decided our grandson would not manage the long wait and so opted not to go in. Plenty of xmas related “stuff” on sale and a couple of animal enclosures with pigs/donkey/goats were a nice touch for children but the overall experience was claustrophobic. We also visited the well managed cafe (in separate building outside the main centre).

First time for a local residential home, escorts went in for free, even residents with dementia came home with the best smile, Christmas came early for a few this week! Well done to Keydell for an amazing Wonderland experience for young and old.

Have visited the Potting Shed a few times but on the 28th November we were surprised to find the introduction of polystyrene cups admittedly they were red with snowflake design but the coffee did not taste anything like it usually does ,it may be because it is a busy time but I hope it is not going to be a permanent feature otherwise we will be taking our coffee else where.

We took our two grandchildren aged 7 and 4 to see Santa and take in the woodland walk. Santa was wonderful and we didn't feel at all rushed....top marks to Santa...he may just have been the real deal. The Woodland walk was magical. Well done Keydells a lot of effort put in. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because the elf we encountered by the ticket booth wasn't the most helpful. Oh forgot to say Santas workshop where the children collected their gifts was a brilliant idea. Well worth a visit just be aware its going to get busy.

I visited this nursery last Friday with my friend and my granddaughter who had an inset day! The displays in the woodland walk were magical. There must be thousands of pounds worth of trees, lights, figures and ornaments in all the different tableaux. So much thought has gone into it all We all enjoyed the experience very much and made a special trip from West Sussex. We took my granddaughter to see Father Christmas and it was well organised but my granddaughter is quite shy so didn't really get the full advantage of the visit. However after seeing Father Christmas the children can choose what gift they would like, according to age groups, and the gifts are very nice, not rubbish. The woodland walk is included in the price to see Father Christmas or you can see the tableaux on their own at a cheaper price. I thought 'woodland walk' meant we had to go outside but no it is all under cover so ideal if the weather is iffy or cold. There is a wonderful selection of Xmas tree ornaments/gifts in the main building along with plants etc. The place was a bit confusing but well worth the wandering about.

We visit here every year to take kids to see Santa and to walk around the Winter Wonderland. Visited today and as always we weren’t disappointed. Long queue of around 45 minutes but I expected that given the time of year. And that was with us arriving before opening time. Santa was great, daughter got a lovely gift at the end. Always a nice selection of toys. Took our own photos as I find trek quite expensive especially as we’d paid £13 to get in. The winter wonderland walk was amazing. Lots of beautiful displays and plenty of photos to be taken of your little ones in there. Particularly love the train there. Will be coming again next year most definitely and would recommended.

If you want a pleasant day out, avoid. While it has many strengths, the staff is not one of them. If your toddler is having a meltdown, they will judge and comment. You even get to hear their half-baked political views as they stand around doing not much (but gossiping and judging). Equally their checkout service isn't exactly polite. This review is not for the restaurant, but the shop.

I love going here for the Halloween and Christmas walk, but today (2 days before Halloween) the Halloween walk had been gone since roughly the week before! It’s not even been Halloween yet! And you now have to pay to get in! Considering the fact my friends and I took the time to walk down there in the cold, we were not very happy to here it was gone to make room for the Christmas woodland walk (or whatever it’s called). So really I’m not impressed with the Halloween walk this year, I mean it’s two days before Halloween, and two months until Christmas, that’s a little bit weird.

I think this is the first year we’ve had to pay to do the Halloween walk through and I feel it was overpriced. We queued for about 15 minutes just to get the tickets which are part way through the walk (the queue was far longer when we came out) which were £1.50 per adult and £1.20 per child over 1. We were given an armband which meant we could come back in again that day but why would you? One - two minutes after that the walk was done and we didn’t see any live actors. The walk has always been good (and what they actually had this year was good) but not when you have to pay so won’t bother with it next year if they continue to charge.

This is more than just a plant nursery - it is a vast site where you can find all your gardening requirements and a great deal more. There are always bargains to be found and new items to investigate. With so many different areas leading off the main entrance, however, it may require several visits before you have explored them all.

We took the children through the Enchanted Woodland Walk through with fairies, dragons and unicorns and like all these nurseries displays it was really lovely. I picked up a load of bargain plants that had been reduced as well as an apple tree for the allotment which was fruiting and a good price at £29.99. We then went in The Potting Shed Cafe for lunch where the staff were very polite and friendly and ordering for six people I found the service very quick. The two little children had an afternoon tea which at £5 each was well worth the money. This consisted of a drink, a sandwich, three different types of cake each, crisps, fruit, cookies and iced gems all served on a lovely cake stand. Even they couldn’t manage all of it so were helped by the rest of the family. It was all very lovely and would definitely come again.

I enjoy visiting Keydell nurseries as they are a local alternative to the large national garden centres. That said they can be complacent in their service and are not the cheapest garden centre. Had mixed levels of service from them on the last few visits.

The best stocked garden centre in the region. There are so many wonderful plants that you can overlook the rather tatty buildings. There are also lots of gift ideas as well as the items you would expect to see. Prices are about average for a garden centre and there are always bargains to be had if you take the time to look. The cafe has been revamped recently with a new menu and seems to be busy.

Revolting food we gad to wait 45 minutes for. Order was wrong, was sent back to the kitchen with a backdrop of loud swearing from the ‘’chef’’ for his mistake. Waited for another 15 mins for an undercooked jacket potato, no apology no nothing. Once ready ‘chef’ loudly announced here is a jacket potato with no butter in a mocking voice… on leaving I was clearly charged for 2 jacket potatoes and the burnt panini but felt the lady behind the counter who did the maths in her head, was too passive aggressive for me to challenge. Safe to say we wont be going back.

Have been here regularly but won't go again. I purchased two drinks and duck food for myself and my sons and sat down at an inside bench. I had made my son a small jam sandwich and took it out of his bag to give to him. However, I was informed it was 'policy' that only food and drink bought at the cafe can be consumed there and that I would have to leave. I was a paying customer and was giving my two and a half year old son a small jam sandwich. Utterly ridiculous policy. I understand why it's there, to stop people taking the seating away from paying customers. But the cafe was almost empty and I'd just spent the best part of £10. A real shame that people like this run what is ostensibly a nice little cafe.
