Worst fish and chips I've ever eaten. Chips weren't fully cooked , cod nuggets contained little to no fish and mostly oily batter. An absolute overpriced waste

Ordered our fish and chips with kids meal i dont think the young waitress knew what she was doing on the till as had to ask another employee out the back not very welcoming on arrival bit miserable actually .. waited over 30 mins for food chip and fish was ok small portions and beans were cold wouldn’t recommend eating here at all 👎

We ordered battered burger & chips the burger didn’t have any batter on it at all ! When we questioned it. We were told it was cooked how it should have been . I said but the menu states battered burger ? They went off & came back & the reply was we tried calling the owner but he didn’t pick up. There’s nothing we can do . What a joke. AVOID at all costs please note all the good reviews are from local guides 🤷🏼 tells you everything really

Expensive and cod and chips mixed up. My haddock was small with large flakes. Friends haddock was long and thin with small flakes. Chips were good.

Got less chips in the large. Nearly £5 for a handful of chips. Rip off. Took 15 minutes and no one else in there. Will be going back over the road.

Had family lunch with parents, very busy even at 12.15. Waited 40 minutes but worth it. Cod good, chips good. Only criticism is cost of small pot of mushy peas !! Definitely visit again and recommend.

Went there today with family and our 2 dogs. Always good to find dog friendly places to eat. I had an OAP special, cod chips tea and 🥪 and 🧈. I really enjoyed it. I'm told fish fingers and mushy peas were good also. Generous portions. Helpful staff and didn't have too long to wait for it to be prepared. I would go back there next time I visit wroxham.

Don’t be put off by the old fashioned and slightly cramped restaurant- the food is very good and reasonably priced too. Gluten free available too!

The perfect lunch to warm us up after a swim. Food was fantastic, the perfect amount with a delicious coffee and can of cream soda 😋 brilliant.

Great service , good chips, the fish was the worse we have eaten . Had 2 lge 1 med and 1 small , all looked the same , didn't taste of fish . Awful Such a shame as we like to support local businesses . Def won't return

Had a wing of skate without any fish inside. Asked to change it for cod and was told thats how it comes. Was offered a cup of tea instead of a replacement meal.

Had haddock and chips twice and a battered sausage. Been going to Kens for 58 years firstly when on holiday and now i have retired to Walcott. Best around and staff are lovely.

Worst fish and chips ever and I have visited a great deal across the country. The fish was no way fresh and tasted nasty, as if fried in old oil, the chips had a weird taste again you can tell it’s from old oil…how they could boast that they are the best in Wroxham, I dread to think what the worst are…wish I had never got hungry!

The food is always top-notch, best fish and chips in Norfolk in my opinion. The manager, Grace, is always friendly too. Highly recommended.

Three of us made a last minute dash to Wroxham for sneaky chips with the Swans and Pigeons by the waterside. We wandered into Ken’s just on the left after the bridge, and found a nice clean shop, a good menu both in variety and price. Whilst we all mused over the mushy peas and argued over scraps, we were greeted by Chloe who smiled and made us all welcome. Thinking out loud I asked if it would be possible to order “off menu”. I fancied a deep fried dill pickle, don’t ask me why. Chloe seemed amused but went ahead and picked a decent specimen before patting it dry, and then coating in batter. Chloe chatted animatedly with the three of us whilst we waited for our meals and “extras” to be ready. The battered pickle or “Shrek sausage” as it was nicknamed, was alarmingly tasty! Salty and crispy, my only recommendation would be to cut it in half beforehand 😂. I usually go to the larger chip shop across the street, however after this visit to Ken’s, I can definitely feel another visit coming again soon. Very good quality fish and chips.

My friends and I came to wroxham for the afternoon for Kwn's chips specifically! Chloe, our server, was such a darling and even helped our fried pickle dreams come true! Thank you Ken's! The best chippy in wroxham by a country mile!

Mushy peas a ridiculous price for a tiny portion

I come to Bacton every 6 months or so from Cambridge and always visit this chippy in wroxham. Again very nice Fish and chips today. Just hit the spot. Thank you.

Eaten here twice now. Food is hot and very tasty. Lovely server who was on her own but extremely polite and friendly. Definitely use again next time we come down

Used to be the best fish and chips this side of Norwich. Now it takes 20 minutes for a small portion of chips that cost £3. The same price as a large portion elsewhere. If the chips were still good it might be defendable but they are mediocre. When your number 2 in the queue and it takes this long then the young lady gives you attitude when you mention the wait, it's very frustrating.

Small traditional fish and chip shop serving a range of what you would expect from a chip shop. Prices are competitive and the chips were nice and a reasonable sized portions. Tasty and worth going to. This place is popular so expect a small wait.

Food was nice, just everything was less of a portion than expected. Large chips were not much bigger than the small we ordered and the savaloys were also half the size. What normally feeds our family from a fish and chips here didn’t and for the same money.

Expensive £2.20 for a kids chips. But tasty

Treated my sister and her friend today who both have learning difficulties to sit in at "Kens" restaurant, as they are both in their 60"s they only eat small portions. So I asked for the childs portions and they refused saying they could only have adult portions. I was horrified and would have walked out only the ladies were so excited for their treat I didn't have the heart to disappoint them and move them on.They left more than half of their meal, We have been going to Kens ourselves for years!! But NEVER AGAIN from now on!!

Went there on Saturday, for Mum’s birthday. The food was awful ordered the OAP lunch which should have come with tea and bread and butter but neither were offered. Had to print the waitress who plonked it on the table. Ordered a Diet Coke which didn’t get and when questioned was told hadn’t ordered and then the rude waitress plonked it on the table and stood in front of us whilst eating our awful meal demanding £ 2. 60 . Obviously I paid but advised I would at the end of the meal .

Approx 15 mile round trip, but always worth it

Myself and my family ordered food to take away for our evening meal. I wanted a chicken burger and this appeared to be an slightly larger chicken nugget and I was charged an extra £1 for the luxury of a role. This I would not have minded so much had the role not been covered in mould on the inside…. which I did not notice until halfway through my food when a large piece of mould fell on my plate. Additionally the service was slow. I won’t be returning here again. Update: My husband came in, as did my Dad and brother in law. They made 3 separate orders but were all together in the take away. Apologies I did not make this specifically clear. This is my one and only review as I have never before had to complain about having mouldy food in any other place I have eaten. I have no reason to lie and find it highly amusing that some one would come online and attack people in this way for their negative review. Your time would be better spent paying more attention to the food you are serving. Is it beyond the realms of possibility that you had a packet of bread with mould in it? No. Is it possible that some one did not take the time to check it properly before serving? Yes. I could not phone the take away as by the time they got back to my location in Horning and was halfway through my food, you were already closed. You’re attitude in response speaks volumes about the respect you have for your customers. I have read your other reviews and feel as though, had you been open I would not have wanted to contact you directly any way because of the way in which you react and respond to criticism. Update 2: HD footage of a bread role? Excellent. Please could you pop a picture up then? I’ve never heard of a chip shop with such high tech recording systems to check for mould on bread. I wouldn’t waste my time to come in a speak with you now as you seem so hell bent on calling me a liar. My husband came in with my father and brother in law as I stated before. I have fictionalised no one for the sake of a review. Also my account has been live on here for many years and as said, I have felt no need to complain before. The fact you feel the need to come on here and attack people for a review in the way you do is utterly ridiculous. Check your receipts, cameras and whatever else you need to, I still had mouldy food. End of story. Do better.

Good, personable service and good fish and chips! If you haven't tried Ken's yet then I recommend it, I got a small cod and chips, a battered sausage and curry sauce, and I have to say I enjoyed it all. Service was friendly and helpful, I can't fault them. As a side note, I was really pleased that they have cans of cream soda 😅 and lots more classic soft drinks too. I'll be returning soon for sure.

Good chips but very expensive. The sign in the shop says card payments welcome but they prefer cash to keep the prices down, at £3 a portion I really don't think that's the case at all! Takes a little while as they cook the chips as you order them. The quality is good but you expect good quality for a £3 tray of chips!

Really enjoyed cod and chips mushy peas and tea for two, couldn't fault it, service could be improved, very polite but forgot a couple of things, decor needs a coat of paint, outside patio needs a jet wash and some pretty lights would make all the difference.

Firstly for the price we paid and what we got was shocking, our large cod and large chip was definitely a small, it was tiny. We also had a small chips and a sausage and that was the same size as the large! We had it wrapped to go and not shown the portion size before it was wrapped, otherwise I would have said something. The food was tasteless and extra greasy, over the last 20 years we have been using this place and it has normally been okay, but this time it was extremely disappointing and expensive for what we got. We will not be returning.

My husband had the Gluten free cod and chips. The G/F batter on the cod was really light and crunchy, I would say it was better then the standard batter I had on my non G/F cod, but still good on both types. Good service and very swift. We sat in the restaurant at the rear as the main shop at the front was very busy.

After a great Bank Holiday afternoon on the river, eating chips from here was sublime. Definitely recommended...

Waited almost an hour for fish and chips Monday night and then there was someone complaining and the owner turned up and was very aggressive and asked him step into the alleyway to speak to him all the time in front of my kids. I think they resolved the issue but I won't be going back. The food was also poor. 2 X fish and chips nearly 40 quid.

We had three pensioner specials. The fish was lovely, perfectly cooked, the tea was strong, service excellent. The price was £13.95, that may seem expensive, however tea and buttered bread has to be £3 so £11 for sit down fish and chips is a reasonable price. The two young staff members were polite and efficient.

Food was below average. Fish was tiny and expensive. Staff laughing and joking whilst I was trying to tell them my order. Would not recommend at all.

What a pity this restaurant is grubby and tied . Old fashioned , ripped table cloths with wonky tables that rock . The waitress was friendly . food tasted good but the potion was small for the price charged . Also given a tea to share when we ordered and paid for a pot each . £14.55 for one tea and cod roe and chips Really needs a bit of TLC and update .

Shocking how this fish and chips has gone downhill so fast! Prices much higher, but also portion size shrunk just as much. Not helped by staff don’t don’t really care and the quality of food poor, fish under cooked and chips were all very small. Like a plate of fried wood chips. Finally the restaurant very dirty, we cleaned the table ourselves just so we stopped sticking to the table.

The wife’s just returned, very busy, too few staff AND not correct order given with items missing!… not really very impressed.

Having ordered, I then stood outside for over half an hour with another 12 orders. I appreciate that you were training a new staff member (who was actually doing OK), however the order was wrong, peas were missed off our order. Skin on the fish. Batter was soggy and not all of the chips were cooked. Absolutely disgusted! Avoid at all costs.

Charged exactly £40 for cod and chips twice plus 2 x mushy peas and a pot of tea for 2. Pretty much certain that we were overcharged even though we did ask. If we weren't overcharged then sorry,too expensive for what we had. .... In response to your reply,my partner did question the price,I have stated exactly what we ordered.Can you tell me if this was indeed correct ?

Decided to have a fish and chips lunch. A small queue before being served. Went for cod and chips. It was very well cooked but, for the size of portion, a bit more expensive (£10.75) than I would have liked but the taste did compensate for that.

Good to eat here if upu have food allergies. Only gripe is how expensive the food seemed. Nice setting in the river.

The service was OK to begin with but when I tried to return my battered haddock because it hadn't been descaled, I was rudely told that this was part of the skin 😂 Please start descaling your fish properly, train your staff in customer service and train them to understand that fish should be served without scales on!

Quick service clean and very well organised

Ordered 2 large cod and 1 large chips, mushy peas and a battered sausage £25. Also the ‘large’ chips was a literal hand full. Cod overpriced and chip portion very small. Unfortunately won’t go back.

I spent 42 pounds for a large cod and regular cod one without chips and chips and a battered sausage and only got 2 handfulls of chips 2:50 for 1 can of drink this place is severely expensive and has bad portions , miserable staff and slow serving

Kens Fish and Chips are delicious. Always fresh and great sized portions. Always freshly cooked upon order when we have been. Cannot fault. Whenever we are in the area, Ken's Fish and Chips invariably enter the conversation very early on in discussions about food!🤣 Thank you.

A large haddock was very small. The plaice was small. The food was lovely and hot We both had chips and a pot of tea. The meal was far too expensive. Nearly £34 At Southwold we get more than twice the amount of fish for £10 less

One of, if not the best place in Norfolk to get your Fish & Chips cooked the traditional way! Absolutely delicious food, all cooked fresh by friendly and chatty staff who always leave a good and lasting impression. I’ve very much enjoyed every meal I’ve had at Ken’s, it’s also a really nice sight to to see staff and owner have so much passion for their line of work. See you soon everyone.

Best fish and chips around, theres a handfull of good chippies in Norfolk and this for me is one of the gems. Good Value too and was open on a Thursday when others around were shut.

The two stars are for the friendly service in the restaurant and the chips. The rest was sadly very disappointing. The cod that I received was overcooked, dry and actually had a sort of reheated sense about it. My Mum had a haddock was watery in texture. I probably have Fish & Chips once a week on average when in the UK and it’s been an awfully long time since I had Fish & Chips as badly done as this. Recommendation to owner: When the economy deteriorates, people want quality to accompany value and scrutinise this ratio to a higher degree. I’m no expert on running a Fish & Chip restaurant but, if my experience was representative of the usual output, you really should review your practices if you’re to continue trading long-term. This was my first time in England and everyone said try the fish and chips. Well I did and I was not disappointed at all. The fish was fresh and made to order. I was very sceptical at first from the reviews I read 2hile waiting for our fish. 8m hear to say the fish was not disappointing nor were the chips. More than happy with the order size and how well the worker communicate with you while you order and wait. I will definitely go back for more thank you ...

I was in wroxham for a day out about a month ago it was around 6 o clock so I came here with my family and ordered 2 small chips I was a bit unsure because it was very expensive for just 2 small chips! There was literally no one waiting for any food and I was waiting for about 50 minutes then after waiting a VERY long time I finally got my food I had been waiting for. So I left and decided to eat them on a bench so I tried one and they were nearly rock solid and cold that wasn’t even the worst part. They were SO expensive for just 2 small portions of chips!! I ate a few of the chips and they were also disgusting I ended up just throwing them in the bin.Definitely will not be coming back here!!!!

They take your order and money but dont tell you that you have to wait ages as there was just two staff trying to manage both the take away and the restaurant at the same time. When our chips came they were just a bag of scraps. Typical holiday business earning zillions for a very poor service. Recommend you go elsewhere. Stop being capitalistic on holiday makers as its not good for Wroxham. And we are from Lowestoft so we know what good fish and chips should be, and for less money.

Nice chips, but very small portions, fish not bad but very very small and not very crispy batter. Microwaved peas, had to wait for what seemed like an age for the food. Scraps were very nice, the price was attrotious. 2 fish. 2 chips, 2 peas and 2 curry sauce £27. They claimed they were the best chip shop there, either people here have very low standards or they are just liars. We are all still hungry, off to domino's pizza now
