Ken's Fish Bar in Southwark

El mejor F&C en el sur de Londres. He venido aquí por más de 35 años para nuestra comida del viernes. Amplio menú, todo cocinado por expertos. Muy recomendable. 'Nuff dijo.

After having our fish, chips and mushy peas at the weekend I felt the need to say just how absolutely wonderful the whole experience was at Ken's Fish Bar in Herne Hill. The value for money, the lovely friendly welcome and the top quality food was as good as it gets. A very well deserved 10/10.

After enjoying a wander through Brockwell Park, my partner and I decided to pop into Ken's Fish Bar on Half Moon Lane afterwards for late lunch. Located only 5/10 minutes walk from Herne Hill train station. Maybe it's because I was feeling peckish or maybe it was a chilly day, but the chips from Ken's is quite possibly the best chips I have had for a very long time! Enjoy yours sitting on the bench at the corner of Beckwith Road.

Local place… was in Netflix of one of the best fish and chips in London . Fresh cooked on order, portions are big and fantastic price. Cod £7,( can fed 1-2) chips £2.30 for “small” . Perfect for a take away. Won’t regret coming here.

This has to be the best fish and chip I have ever eaten. Everything so fresh the chip are crispy and fluffy inside and the staff are so friendly and nice. I will never go anywhere else for fish and chips. I travel from elephant and castle but is worth the journey. Yum yum.

Ken’s is a recent find for us. We prefer to eat in as we find fish and chips are better fresh. That’s not an option at the mo and Ken’s are the best takeaway fish and chips around. The staff are great too. Portions of chips are generous. We find one does two of us with a piece of fish each. We won’t bother with the mushy peas again - too small for us. We didn’t get our fish and chips last night. Ordered through Just Eat - paying the extra seemed worth it to avoid waiting. Ken’s called when the delivery was more than an hour late - Just Eat had not turned up to collect and they didn’t think they were going to be able to deliver. Our food had been sold to someone else as it wouldn’t keep - maybe someone had a shorter wait. We’ll be back, just maybe not through Just Eat.

It may not look much as you drive past - it took us 22 years living in the are and the lockdown to try it. And what have we been missing! Excellent, very fresh fish, well-cooked, with fantastic chips - crispy and fluffy. Easily the best fish and chips we have eaten locally in those 22 years, and right up with the best we have ever tasted. It has also just been refurbished, with new fryers, etc. And the prices are very reasonable. Only downside is that Ken only accepts cash - no cards. Takeaway only.
