Gyoza was just about warm and sushi was warm (room temperature been out for a while warm).

Menu isn’t that exciting, we ordered a plater and pretty much everything’s made with salmon, salmon with mango, salmon with avocado… it’s a bit funny 😂 Average service, not very tentative and timely, not sure if staff understood everything (but that’s okay, hope for improvements) Good luck guys! Off street parking right next to the sight. We came on a Sunday evening and able to find space around 7pm.

(Edit 30 June 24) Still as good as it was last year when first reviewed. The evening bottomless sushi is still great value, now at £27.95 We decided to let the chef choose a selection of dishes for us but specified to the waitress for no vegetarian only sushi and for plenty of sashimi. The resulting platter was exceptional. (See photo). Great food, great value and good service (the restaurant was busy after sudden rain) We'd go to Kazouku once or twice a month if we lived locally, it's a firm favourite. (July 23) This sushi restaurant is amazing! What a great recent addition to both Folkestone and to Kent. There is a 'bottomless' sushi menu which offers outstanding value. Currently £20 at lunchtime and £25 in the evening. You order your sushi using a tick-sheet which offers a highly varied selection of traditional and modern Japanese dishes. It includes sashimi, which is rare on such unlimited menus. For the very hungry diners, the tick-sheet is returned for a subsequent order. Other diners have criticised the service, but it was quite acceptable on the lunchtime we visited. The food is absolutely delicious, and that's from a regular sushi diner. Food is extremely well presented (see photos of the same platter from 2 views). We will most definitely return in the near future.

Great food. Not bad value. The service is very lacking. You can sit waiting for a drink refill for 20 mins. Once they give your food, they leave you alone completely, which some might consider a good thing, but you can also go too far the other way and have to wait ages to try and catch the eye of a waiter. We had to leave our seat twice to remind them to bring water, and later to be able to order more drinks. We've been there twice now, and will be going again soon with my Son, I hope the service improves.

Some of the most delicious South East Asian food my partner and I have had, we were on cloud 9. Reasonable pricing especially for the quality of food and service. I had the chicken sushi (definitely recommend) with the chicken karaage in sauce (must try) and my partner had one of the salmon rolls which was also super tasty.

A good large sushi restaurant but not the best I've had. It's restaurant over canteen style sushi they have beers and cocktails too so good if you want dinner out. They have an all you can eat offer and sushi platters as well as individual items and noodle dishes too.

We love this place. Its a real treat when we eat here. Food is all prepared fresh for your request. We have never found fault with the quality of the food, always outstanding flavour and variety. We generally go for the bottomless lunch, the prices have gone up since we started going. This previous visit we found the amount was less, and on a plate not a normal wooden l board. This is what then made us realise the amount had also changed. We then found that not only us, but the whole restaurant we having to ask the staff for the order sheets back for the tables. This used to be dropped back at the table shortly after the order had been put on the table. After watching this happen a good few times, we believe this is to stop people ordering so quick, Lunch is a short time period so the less you order the less they have to prepare and then can close on time. We ordered 2 alcoholic drinks, when the young lady bought them back to the table, she didn't ask who's was who's and placed them on the table in the wrong place, not a huge issue, but also left out the fact of a glass for the beer that was ordered, no question asked if we wanted one either. That being said, we always get a smile when we arrive and when we leave.

Why was there kimchi in the ramen? That should be explained in the menu!

The food here was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. We were seated promptly and the atmosphere was bubbly, open, and the service members were friendly. After being sat, we got our drinks and ordered 4 items from the menu. The first three items arrived staggered from each other which is not unusual with a sushi restaurant. However, the third item came a good ten minutes after the first two and we waited a good forty minutes in total for the fourth item. The server did not read back the order and continued to repeatedly ignore our dirty dishes and empty glasses to help other customers. Not only that, but it seemed as though he was avoiding our gaze at every turn. When finally asked about the final item which was still missing, it was obvious on his face that he had forgot. This was frustrating as all of the cooks and service members sat and watched us sit unattended as well. The final dish took 2 minutes to come out, but after this experience we no longer wanted to order any more food. Because we are on vacation we likely would have spent double if not triple what we ended up paying, if we didn't think we would be stuck in there for another hour just trying to get the food. Overall, I really hope they can teach their servers to attend to their tables and trouble-shoot/be confrontational when it applies to their job so that this doesn't happen again. It is a shame because the food was delicious and the chef clearly takes pride in what they put out. Thank you.

I couldn’t ever believe that I liked sushi. They make it perfect in taste! The look of their plates/platters is absolutely stunning! Piece of art and you can tell they take pride in their work. We are from Canterbury and go there regularly or as often as we can , because it’s totally worth it. Not expensive at all! I can’t believe we can get such a great food around Kent! It’s a blessing.

Way too much Sriracha on the spicy tuna, it overpowered the rest of the roll. Everything was nice though

Sushi is amazing and all you can eat option is fantastic value. Only drops to 4 stars because the service lets it down. You can waste an awful lot of time trying to get someone's attention

We had a beautiful meal at this lovely restaurant. The atmosphere was relaxed and attractive decor. The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was stunning and like art!! I would definitely return. We did order more than we could eat, it is more filling than you imagine so go slow, we took our leftovers home. Superb experience!!

Kazoku Sushi was a culinary misadventure. The ambiance was comfortable, service acceptable, but the sushi? A letdown of epic proportions. The rice was 'disaster zone soggy.' As for the fish, only the salmon managed to be edible. The tuna, sadly, tasted suspiciously akin to something dredged up from the discount section of a suburban supermarket, and was far below sushi quality. They offer an all-you-can-eat menu dominated by salmon, which might appear to offer value—until you realize there's a McDonald's next door.

Excellent service and food. Very authentic 👌 I was very surprised by the big variety and value for money . Can't wait to go back .

Kazoku is our absolute favourit! We love the food, its flaverfull, its allways fresh and just really good ♥️

They have increased the prices now beyond what I think is reasonable for the All You Can Eat menu - £28 for dinner £24 for lunch. Maybe if there was bottomless soda included you could justify the spend, but now I can see most people spending £35-£40 pp quite easily with service charge. The food is good quality, the staff are great. Probably won’t be going back though. 3/5 for value now, used to be 5/5.

Popped into Kazoku on a Friday afternoon. Staff were fantastic, especially as they said they were about to close but would stay open for us. We ordered Chicken Gyoza, Pork Ramen, Chicken Katsu curry and some Sushi. Lovely fresh food, the Gyoza and Sushi were incredible. Would highly recommend and couldn't fault the service.

Oh my word, had lunch here with my daughter today. The atmosphere is gorgeous, the food 5 star and more and the staff are so attentive! Highly recommend this place for amazing sushi!!!

We were a part of ten pre booked but when we arrived the staff looked startled Service really was pretty poor took ages to get so much as a bottle of wine or even a jug of water Food was fine ,menu possibly complicated for a large group At 9.30 we were asked for lost orders and I think they literally meant for anything No anymore drinks ,dessert or coffee

The flavours was really nice but, pieces of the beef on my Ramen was not cooked properly😭

We went with a group and it was very different from our usual Sunday lunches but wow. Firstly it is a lovely setting close to the sea and the decor inside is really nice. We all opted for the bottomless brunch which was an assortment of everything. I have never tasted anything like this it was incredible. When you have finished you can order again. I really enjoyed the fried rolls and could have just had platefuls of these. Excellent food and excellent value for money. We will definitely be returning don't pass this by if you love sushi this is a must.

Fantastic food. Best Japanese meal I have had in a long time. When I moved to Folkestone there really wasn’t an offering. When this opened I was overjoyed. Went twice this month and can honestly say it’s my new favourite. The only constructive criticism I would give is staff need to be more attentive, watch to see if people’s glasses are empty and offer more drinks etc and some people like a lot more wasabi with the sushi so maybe ask how much wasabi they would like. But these things do not detract from was an amazing meal and service.

I dined here early on a Friday evening with my 7 year old daughter. It was a first time at Kazoku for us both and it was wonderful. I had the bottomless sushi, whilst my daughter had the teriyaki chicken. Food was fresh and tasty (the sushi was amazing, I had two rounds of a variety of items) and the service was good. We will definitely be back!

This is my fourth time visiting kazoku, and I’m not one to write reviews let alone a negative one. I cannot fault the food, especially for the value of money, but the service is awful. The most recent time visiting a few days ago, I felt incredibly rushed. Mid eating my meal catching up with a friend, we was handed the bill and card machine insisting to pay cash or card. I was speechless in mid conversation and eating we was interrupted and had to stop and pay. They look like young teenagers running the place with not one clue of hospitality experience, and as much as I love the concept of a ‘bottomless sushi’, for how they make you feel rushed and staring at you like you’re a bother being there, I will not be returning any more.

What a lovely place, food hot and tasty with good service. So much choice on the menu it’s hard to decide. Spaced out tables so not cramped or listening to the next table.

Best place to go if you’re Sushi’s fan. I went there with my family and relatives. Sushi was so good , well plated and all the staffs were lovely. Cannot wait yo visit again.

Lunch today my daughters birthday, her choice , have had ‘sushi’ before, but WOW ,this was not like anything I’ve ever had, amazing, presentation was great, but every mouthful tasted fantastic. We had a fabulous lunch, thank you , can’t wait to return

All you can eat sushi. The food is delicious and plentiful. You tick the options you want. Food appears, when the food is gone the form comes back to order more. Delicious. Lots of choice. Also other options such as katsu curry or Ramen for those who don't like fish. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere too.

The food is simply fantastic! Was hot when it arrived and tasty. It’s a shame that I ordered the California Uramaki but it didn’t have crab in it, salmon instead. It’s a shame as I’ve had it before with crab in and it was amazing. A lot less flavour with the salmon :(

The most beautiful, melt on the mouth shashimi I've had in a very long time. Will definitely come back for more. We went for the "bottomless sushi". The selection was varied and fabulously presented. We were served some warm gyoza between serving which was delightful as there was a wait as the place got busier.Unfortunately there were issues with the network which meant a little delay in paying. Did not take anything away from the experience for me.

It is addictive! I have fallen in love with their delicious sushi, if you are up for a feast that delights those tasting buds of yours then do not hesitate, choose Kazoku. The do not only have sushi, but some promising ramen and many other dishes, the personell has always been kind to us and the music is just so trendy, unlike these elevator music listening restaurants There has not been a single time that we did not pay them a visit at least twice a month since we've discovered them

The food was always lovely , the personnel was always kind and helpfull , drinks are lovely too (i personally prefer the Mockito & Cranberry Refresher) You have 27 kinds of different sushi and sashimi to choose from at the bottomles sushi menu💜🤗🍣

Honest review, best sushi place I’ve tried the staff is so welcoming , quick with the food the food quality is crazy I would say this goes to neck neck with stick n sushi THATS HOW GOOD IT IS !! Definitely come stop by kazoku if ur near folkstone CRAZYYY SHUSHI

We went at lunchtime for the bottomless sushi. It was very busy and they were unprepared to handle the rush. We had one plate and then had sat and waited for 35 minutes without the waiter coming round to ask us for more food. We kept STARING at them as they went past but one waiter was basically serving the whole room with the second keep disappearing. When they did walk past our table they would look the other way so that we couldn't grab there attention. Having read a similar review on here I think they do so on purpose so that they don't have to give you as much food. Definitely not worth the £43 we paid.

Went back there today for our 2nd visit. The service was extremely quick. Waited no longer than 5 minutes for the food to come out and tastes great too

Eat as much as you like menu was great value for money. Sushi fresh, not convinced it's authentic Japanese but who cares when it's this tasty and fun. Atmosphere bit lacking, some music please. Overall a must try if local.

Fantastic sushi: super fresh, varied and delicious. Excellent pots of Jasmine tea that don’t stew. Amazing sashimi. Superb value for money and the Chef’s Platter is just more sushi than I can eat! So so good! Been craving it ever since. Will be back!

I love Kazoku. I have been at least twice a month since it’s opened and I couldn’t give a higher recommendation! I’ve tried the sushi, ramen and katsu and it has all been delicious but the sushi stands out, in particular the flamed salmon and the white wine sangria. Staff are friendly and welcoming, value for money with the all you can eat is fantastic and there is no compromise on quality. Must visit in Folkestone.

Really enjoyed lunch at Kazoku sushi near the memorial arch. Spacious restaurant with super nice helpful staff. The bottomless lunch for £20 gives so much choice of sushi which comes on a big platter after gyoza with dip and cucumber salad. Also had fried squid and chicken teriyaki. Sake and jasmine tea were great.

Think this place has gone downhill a bit. The staff don’t really do very much except chat to each other we ordered 3 x the unlimited sushi and despite there being 3 of us, we kept getting 2 of things so my friends didn’t both get to try everything. Then when we specifically requested more of the things we enjoyed we were served something completely different!! We pointed is out and asked them for them to give us 3 or 6 of each as we were 3 people. We did feel a bit disappointed as we were again sent things we didn’t ask for (cheaper) options to be precise. We didn’t tip as a result which is a shame as the lad that served us was helpful/good but not sure why we didn’t get what we asked for?

The food is some of the best sushi iv ever had, and the pricing makes it unmissable. If you like sushi you MUST try it if you're nearby, the flavours and skills behind the selection is fantastic. The music is fun and put me in a good mood immediately. The decor is so cute and pretty, so atmosphere is 5* for me. My only gripe would be the staff are a tad slow at times and don't check often enough if we need anything, iv been twice since it opened, dinner and lunch, and both times my experience has been the same; A group of staff stand and chat a lot when we haven't been checked on and want more drinks, to order extra food etc. At lunch we had to wait a very long time to have our order taken both for drinks and again for food. I had to flag someone down eventually as we felt forgotten, despite only being one of 4 tables in the restaurant at the time. Later I saw 3 staff members all clearing plates from one empty table, which we found slightly odd as we had asked for the bill at this point and noone was at the till, so yeah, that was annoying. But I will be back, probably a lot in a short space of time, as folkestone doesn't have the best record for keeping quality restaurants in business, so I want to take advantage while it lasts, and I truly hope enough people pay patronage to keep it going as the chef really deserves it. Despite any misgivings iv written, the staff were lovely and experience comes with time, I'm sure they will improve and the friendly welcome was definitely present at all times. Nothing was forgotten and any small issue was handled quickly and graciously. They keep the place looking great too. Most certainly I'll be back a third time before Christmas!

Been here multiple times and always lose against the bottomless sushi, will be back for the 5th time soon! Will try to beat my record of 3. Jokes aside hot food is really getting there in taste and consistency whereas the sushi is always great. They give a generous amount of sauce with the sushi, which many love but personally ask for less sauce so I can taste more of the fresh fish. Service is great but sometimes I will flag waiters down/raise my sheet if Im not noticed for a while. Always happy will come again :)

Best sushi I've had in Kent Absolutely gorgeous sushi with innovative and unusual rolls, alongside the fan favourites. The all you can eat is awesome as well! Honestly, for a date, a family dinner, it's an amazing place to go. 100% recommend!!

So happy Folkestone has a sushi place now - it's so delicious and prices are affordable too! You can have an all you can eat option or share a big platter.
