I come to the hungry Horse on a regular basis. I am always greeted by a friendly smile. Staff all work hard to make sure that your visit is enjoyable. I have tried many dishes. But my favourite is the chicken skewers. Followed by the lovely chocolate fudge cake . The pub it self very clean and sanitised. There is always someone going around cleaning unlike some of the pubs I have been to. I definitely recommend this place. And I will be back Wendy and Kevina are delightful

We came as a family and had a booking but we were earlier than expected and we're still accommodated. Unfortunately this was where the pleasantness ended. A few of us sat at the front of the restaurant to watch the football, which was fine at first. We then overheard another customers conversation based on their own prejudicial views, these views were then related to a member of staff and we were moved to sit in another area. When we ordered the kids food we were not informed that to get the kids meal everything had to be ordered at the same time, not being able to order desert later, which increased our costs as we didn't get the meal deal pricing. This was not a great experience for us and not one we would wish to subject our children to again.

Great price on drinks and sorted the football we wanted to watch. Would recommend to anyone

The menu has been greatly reduced and was disappointed with the menu on offer. Wanted Hotdogs and other things but they simply doesn't exist anymore. When we got there a sign says you'll be seated and yet not one staff member was around so had to go and ask someone.

On Sunday 18th August I went with a large group of friends looking forward to a nice roast, how absolutely disappointing!! The food was absolutely disgusting, almost inedible. It looked like it had been left on the plate all day then shoved in the microwave before serving, and the gravy came out of the tiny jug in one lump!! None of us could eat it so we were all still very hungry, we did order and eat a dessert as we knew we were probably on safe ground there! In retrospect, we should have asked for our money back, rest assured that we will NEVER eat there again, nor recommend. On the only plus side, the waiting staff were lovely as always, but the chef (if indeed there was one) could do with cooking lessons, or find another career!

A bit disappointed. Hadn't been in for a while. The food was fine although waited a long time for it to arrive. Plates not cleared until dessert arrived. Very loud (including the staff). Found it a bit rough and ready.

Can't fault it. Never had a bad meal at The Black Bull. Good prices and great staff!

We have been here twice and both times it was enjoyable from atmosphere being buzzing with all the locals having a few drinks and family's enjoying a get together, The service is always impeccable and food is a good standard for a reasonable price.

I came into the black bull for the first time the manager Wade was absolutely amazing. The service was 10/10 couldn’t ask for better manager.

Visited for a weekday lunch with the family. Out of the 7 chairs around the out door table 1 was broken and falling apart, another was wobbly and on its last legs. Ordered 3 adult meals and 1 childrens meal, the childrens meal was not warm and parts stone cold. 1 Adult meal was incorrect (serverd vegan chicken nuggets instead of halloumi). The serving staff did resolve both issues quickly. At the end ofthemeal the staff partly cleared the table but did not return to finish the job. Overall the experience was ok but couldbe well improved.

The food is great, not too expensive. Great atmosphere.

We went there for a birthday dinner, first a glitch in the app happened so we didn't get our drinks. Although the bar staff tried to help it took over 30 minutes to sort out, will have to call the bank and get the payments stopped. We then ordered food which was another long wait and then when it did come the food wasn't that hot and wasn't that nice. Am really not happy with any of the evening and will not be wasting my money or my time in that place again.

It was what you would expect from the franchise. A good garden area for children to run around, but this was when it was quiet not as much space if it was busy, but good and secure if you have children who don't sit still.

The IPA was cloudy and didn't taste as it should. The service was slow and someone else in front had a disagreement about the Curry offer on a Wednesday. But the lasagne was very nice and Candymania to share is scrumptious!

Stopped here with friends for lunch and we wish we hadn't. Greeted very poorly (whatever attitude), was told only seating was outside which we didn't mind as it was a nice day. Only given 1 menu for 5 people. When we try to order the barman didn't have a clue and wasn't very helpful. Then when our food was served well it took 2 waitress nearly 10 minutes to serve it, and we really wished they hadn't, fish and chips was cooked in burnt oil, chicken New Yorker was swimming in BBQ sauce and the chicken was like rubber, the mixed grill well will just leave that there, and the chicken wraps, the chicken was over cooked, lettuce was of brown and black around the edges, and then the onion rings were not cooked properly. So in a whole the food was CRAP. Will not be going back what so ever or recommend it to anyone. 👎👎👎👎👎👎

Been coming here for a few years and food for us has always been spot on. Quick service and friendly staff. We used to come here every Saturday morning (they have changed to opening times now) and I would say overall it's better. Great team in the mornings and a special big thank you to Wendy for all the great service and friendly welcome we have had over the years. A great character and asset to this establishment.

It was my daughter & her Fiancé. They always say they enjoy going there, both for lunch and dinner. They particularly enjoy the variety of beers served there but didn't disclose their favourites. They both enjoy the variety and choices of food avaiilable. They've always been very positive about the variety and quality of all menu's! Also the choices and quality of the beers on offer, particularly IPA's

We eat here at least once a week and the food is consistently superb. Certainly well above the average pub restaurant food quality. Had breakfast there today for the first time and that was equally impressive. The place is kept clean and the staff are welcoming and friendly. As a main meal I particularly recommend their Chicken New Yorker but I always ask to have it with steak chips as opposed to fries

We are a french family and regulary spend our weekends in UK and particulary in Kent. We discovered the Black Bull last week and it was a very good experience. Foods is very good with large portions, large drinks and not at all expensive with different offers for each day of the week! The restaurant's setting is really nice and the service is great. We recommend this place +++ !

Been here a few times mainly for a beer or two, and never been disappointed with the ales. But on this occasion came in with my partner for food and was so disappointed as heard such good reviews from people on how good the food is. The food was bland with not much taste, the chips could of been cooked for longer but was soft and just cooked. Will still pop in here but only for a drink and not food

Its an ok pub, but the food is terrible. I had the steak and it was absolutely tasteless and a bit too chewy, some salt would have been nice. I asked for a sauce (paid an extra £1.50) it was inedible. My partner had the burger, again pretty tasteless (he could only taste the onion chutney). I ordered a cider which apparently they did not have at all so i had to choose something else instead. Nice sitting areas inside and outside, staff was attentive. If we ever came back it would be for drinks only.

The Hungry Horse Black Bull is a nice good value restaurant, when it first opened as The Hungry Horse it was awful & had a horrible local reputation but over the years & a change of management it has improved massively, today it offers good food, value for money & the staff are always friendly & accommodating, now we often visit for a meal & have never had any complaints, if your going expecting the best food out there you will be disappointed, but if your after good honest food for the family & you don't want to spend an absolute fortune then it's definitely a place worth visiting

This whole team today are nothing short of entertaining and run this place like clockwork. Each member of the team bounce off each other but put clientele before themselves. Even giving up their breaks including letting their food go cold to serve the public. Wade is the complete barman and host and never does he show any negativity and Kev the manager is in control and applies a personal touch to every individual. We have been undertaking works in the folkstone area for the last 3 months and this place has been accommodating and a place to relax in what can only be seen as a hub for good food and great atmosphere. The local residents bring characteristics that are hard to find. It's a shame we couldn't have this place as a local overseas where we live. However upon our return to the UK we will most definitely return to the best place in folkstone. PND INTERNATIONAL INVESTIGATIONS

I would honestly say this is a great place to eat. Me and My wife came for dinner yesterday evening, I was sceptical as it is a green king but I thought I would give it a go... I was not disappointed, I was greeted at the door and shown to a table where I was asked if I had any diaterary requirements, the waitress that seated me was attentive and went above and beyond, I ordered the 12 oz rump and my wife ordered the mix it up chicken skewers, my steak was cooked perfect and the sides that I ordered were sublime. My wife enjoyed her meal thoroughly and the salt and pepper seasoning even more, the manager came out and introduced himself as Kevin, he is a fantastic publican and very well dressed. All in all what a place to eat , what a fantastic evening me and my wife had and I will definitely bring the family next time.

Our second visit within a few months, service was 10/10 food came out in good time, and food has been outstanding on both visits, hot and plenty of it. I can recommend.

Great staff always on point and great service

I made a last minute booking for a table of 12 , and they kindly fitted us all in. We had amazing food ,the steak was cooked to perfection and all of the dishes were freshly cooked. The service was amazing and all staff was happy and went the extra mile to make our time there very pleasant ,the staff even sang Happy Birthday to my Daughter. I have no complaints and highly recommended. Looking forward to our next visit.

Just had fantastic evening in the hungry horse Folkestone. The food was excellent. I had steak . It was cooked just how I like it. Wayne behind the bar was very welcoming and gave a great service . Nothing is too much for any of the staff . Really helpful

You'd be better off going to Mc Donnalds. Highly processed and frozen food microwaved or fried within an inch of it5s life, yet still comes out cold and soggy. The service is terrible. Waiting staff can't be bothered to come to the table or bring cutlery. Staff using foul language. It's a pub I avoid because the food is inedible but my friend and her family insisted due to it being cheap. However, it's not cheap it's a total waste of money.

We have stopped here a few times now on our way through. Really a worth to visit. Never experienced such lovely, friendly and caring staff as here. The choice of food and drink is great and we have never been disappointed. The opening hours are fantastic. You always feel welcome here. It is a pleasure to have a break here. Many thanks for the efforts and we are already looking forward to coming back.

Awesome love this place, just had mix it up tuesday, great value for money £8 each, and as after bank holiday little bit quieter than normal. Kevin, wendy and kavina all asked how meal was, staff always friendly and helpful.

Stayed for a spot of lunch. Had the southern fried chicken wrap. Was very nice. Will be coming in again .

Lovely food Sue the waitress was amazing

I've been many times now and food has been good. But yesterday the steak and Ruddles pies were a soggy collapsing meatless disaster. Don't know why as the last one a couple of months ago we had was baked beautifully and full of meat and we recommended it to everyone. Also the mash on one plate was lumpy and tasteless. Hopefully this is a one off because I'll be going back in a couple of months as we meet family for lunch normally there.

It's an good place to go to if you want a meal out great service the food is a gamble you could get food poisoning but also you'll be fine you never know

We waltzed in as a party of 6 at 6pm, the restaurant was extremely busy but Sue went out of her way to ensure we got a table and were comfortable. All staff were very attentive and kind and it was amazing they could be so accommodating for us all at such short notice. Food was great and very reasonably priced.
