Skuba Bar and Bistro in Shepway

6 of us dropped in here on a whim and the lovely staff managed to squeeze us in. 4 of us had the Pork, 1 had Beef and the 6th had a Mediterranean Vegetable Pie, all of us really enjoyed our meals which were plentiful and tasty. Staff were cheerful and attentive and the ambience was great also, all in all a fantastic meal and well worth a visit.

Nice food, very welcoming, we ate outside which was great.

fist time ordering from here and i can say for sure that the food here is Great, can't fault it at all, would highly recommend to anyone wanting some fish aswel as a range of burgers.

Couple of DFL's who love this place. Jack is a master chef, food is always exceptional. Staff are excellent - Drinks are always cracking. Great atmosphere & friendly locals.

Waited over an hour for a couple of burgers which I then had to leave as I wouldn't have had time to eat (going to a show at Leas Cliffe). No food, no customer service, no refund as apparently it was somehow my fault a simple meal can't be served in a reasonable time frame. Avoid at all cost. Thanks for nothing Scuba Bar and Bistro. You truly deserve every bad review I've read and should have taken this as a warning.

Then my partner got verbally abused by two drunk customers. The staff didn't even apologise or help. They took the rude customer's side. When the drinks were finally made, two female staff were rude and laughing at us. Made no effort to fix the situation. Ruined our whole evening.

Chips have not been cooked properly and in edible , I would rather the order declined than absolute garbage be delivered.

Food was very nice but,,,, the prices for burgers were a bit pricey for what they were, the Korean burger was very nice ,but overall it's worth a try if your in Folkestone!

Had lunch on Friday, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had the childrens size Gougons and fries which were very good and plenty to share with another dish. We had the special of the day Korean Prawns - now they were supurb and we only hope they decide to put them on the main menu. It ended up being our main meal for the day. The wine is very reasonably priced and good choice. Will definately make it a regular trip.

Nice place for food and drinks.

Stopped for lunch. Specials were cod and salmon fishcake with wholegrain mustard sauce and pickled cucumber, and a chorizo scotch egg. At around 6 quid a plate, we'll worth it. Both items cooked to order, the chef knows his stuff; fishcake light and fluffy run through with spinach, scotch egg perfectly cooked. From the drinks menu, and chilled Jeager dispenser on the bar - looks like it gets lively nighttime. Polite, friendly staff, clean toilets, sunny front garden. Worth a visit

After ordering a drink when asked this smells of eggs and is flat my wife and me got abused thought ok then the food and hygiene of this place will never return again! Probably barred as if you read through the comments any honest review just shows the character your dealing with what a dive

Avoid disappointment manager is rude and no customer care I mean just read he's replys man it's amazing how he's not sacked or closed down food under cooked not vert clean toilets the drinks and prices are awful some advice to the owner get rid off your staff or get out of there before someone gets sick going by what I've herd already have hope it turns around for you guys everyone it was awful experience for us do not say we never warned you guys

Absolutely delicious and arrived hot. Have eaten half now and will polish of the rest of my roast pork dinner later. Driver did get a tad lost but wasn’t her fault at all as it is notoriously difficult to find me. But, a quick phone call from her solved it.

Wednesday night, after the Frank Turner gig, I came to this pub/bar as I was in desperate need of a phone charger. Besides that, the most important part was I had to get a flight at 7am from Gatwick to Kerry Airport (Ireland). After managing to pass through the busy pub, I managed to meet Jess (who I believe to be a manager) and another lass behind the bar who were both more than willing to help me out- even though they were so busy. I had a very pleasant visit- and the team were too supporting the neighborhood in terms of noise after hours. As an Irish lad, the Guinness was perfect, and the whiskey was largely satisfactory too. Big shout out to the team working on Wednesday! Sláinte is táinte! X

The food was lovely but the food was salty, small and not value for money- the food was late and frankly not worth what we paid for it.

There was a mixup with our order but on calling them they kindly rectified and sent us the food as ordered. Thank you

Another great stay at The Portland Hotel, the highlight as always being Chef Jack's cracking gourmet burgers. I had the 'Smokey Mac' burger. Juicy burger topped with mac n cheese croquettes and the best chunky chips going.

Super friendly bar with a great selection of food and drink. The negative reviews about staff attitude just don’t ring true for me - couldn’t be more welcoming whenever I’ve been there and I’ve never seen anyone have an ounce of trouble.

Had birthday celebrations there recently and have to say how very lovely and accommodating the staff were, we kind of took over the outside veranda area and they treated us spectacularly well, couldn't do enough. Highly recommend 5* service all round.

Once you get past feet sticking to the floor and basic decor the food was really good. Had a Sunday roast in downstairs restaurant, lovely atmosphere, fabulous food and friendly waiter. Food was amazing and huge portions so make sure you are hungry!

Nice vibes, reasonable prices but they have no system in serving people at that bar. You can wait easily 20 minutes when when it's busy and they'll serve someone who just walked up to it. Staff are friendly as anything. **Update/ Came for lunch, need to hire more staff

Food was like slop Gravy like water Yorkshire not cooked properly and when asked to be refunded we get nothing but rudeness and argumentative behaviour and banning us from the hotel and restaurant that is not how you look after your customers especially when we have spent a lot of money with them in the past actually disgusted

White wine gave me deli belly. Pipes must not have been cleaned properly, scuba has lost some of its charm

I pre ordered. I had to call to find out where it was. My hubby was happy with his burger. The chips were hard and dry. I ordered 2 extra portions too but they were the same. I ordered chilli fries. It was dry and hard and cold. Delivery time was too long and it ruined the food.

Just as fun today as it was 20 years ago when Lee first had the idea to open it. The heated terrace is absolutely brilliant, and the door staff make you feel safe enough to just relax and let your hair down to the old school music. In the space of one night I was whisked back in time to revisit the wild chaotic mess I was 20 years ago, she was so proud to know nothing's changed!

So was in two minds to leave this but…. So the vegan chilli - why or why wrap wet food in a cardboard takeaway box? It looked a mess and to make matter worst no taste to it. The burger (save option) again no taste, I had to rebuild it, never a good start. It was over cooked and I question myself why it cost so much. Chips are chips The Mac and cheese ball things- and again it seem they was no taste to them. Overall there seems to be a lack of seasoning on all off above. Sorry to say was very disappointed and it’s not cheap.

A group of us (roughly 13 by the time everyone had arrived) wanted to enter for a leaving drink for a colleague straight from work and was denied entry as i was wearing 'tracksuit' bottom shorts, not exactly untidy bottoms. We popped across the road to The Radnor Arms where it was no issue

Probably one of the most displeasure bar and restaurants I have been to made a complaint about the uncooked chicken and was give a refund and to we would not get served again with it drink by a member of staff !!! Great customer services ask for the manager and he was very rude we spoke to him kindly you would have we were asking him for a kidney which all have perfect ones for your own health please don’t visit this place 🙁🙁🙁

The garden is in the sun and they have Curious on tap. That’s the positives over. The service was poor and food was awful. Missed items on order and the burger was a disaster. Stale bun, crazily overcooked burger and the ‘homemade burger sauce’ was just a load of mustard. Have a beer but don’t stay for the food!

Very welcoming staff with excellent knowledge of the menu, good options for hot drinks, soft drinks and alcohol, options for food available too, competitively priced and in a great location right by the beach.

Not sure what went wrong today but a poor experience. Took an age to give us a table number and order. Then an inordinate amount of time to actually place an order then some 30 mins later still no drink. Informed it had been put to the back of the queue for some reason but would be bumped up two places because that’s all that could be done. Ten minutes later. Still no drink. We left. My experience only. Others did seem to be getting drinks all throughout repeatedly n had a good time.

Waiting 15 minutes to be seated, very expensive for what it is and to top it off ordered chips x4 and all came with salt without request and a dirty folk to eat my chips with! When confronted no opology just sorry mate. Not your mate I'm a customer refer me to sir... Won't visit again!

Glad things are back open. We braved the rain which the staff had to brave as well, so credit to them.

Here are some of the highlights: -Over 40 mins wait for chips and nachos -Over 20 mins wait for a pint -No warning of the wait -Staff wearing masks under their chins -Had to ask two times for cutlery to finally be brought a single fork -Very difficult to get the attention of waiting staff, not just for us but for all the tables around us (lots of calls of “excuse me” “hello” were ignored and repeated over) -When they got the table next to ours order wrong, they said they would correct it and then made them pay again for the correct order (this was very awkward for the customers around) -Welcomed by a large sign that says no tracksuits or track shorts (not sure what there issue is with health or fitness?!) -Waiting staff wandered round for quite a while with every order to try to find the table and sometimes gave up and went back in with the order -Although the service was poor and the waiting staff appeared ill-equipped, they were friendly (apart from the co-owner - see below!) Of course I’m understanding of how busy it was, but the service was far from acceptable. Hearing people complaining on tables around us, so knowing it wasn’t just our experience, I decided I would quietly and privately provide some polite feedback. When we sensitively shared our experience with the co-owner she was exceptionally rude and among other comments (including blaming us!), told us we were banned (of course after we had paid our bill). It’s hard to put into words how rude she was. Her attitude and response was shocking. A simple apology or acknowledgment of the service would have been nice (and resulted in a very different review). Very disappointing. In these difficult times we are aware of the challenges that people may be facing and a smile and, to be honest, decent common courtesy can go a long way. After having enjoyed this bar in 2020 (and bringing family here and recommending it to others) we were excited to visit again after lockdown. This was not the experience we were expecting. When I posted this review earlier on Trip Advisor, the manager did take the time to respond. I’ve posted the response below which I think highlights how shocking the customer service is there. Avoid at all costs! “Your rudeness knows no bounds and you are not welcome here so take your entitled impatient attitude elsewhere. Nobody cares about your lies.”

Good atmosphere.. Nice food and drinks.. Service was a little slow but put that down to it having to be table service due to covid restrictions at this time.

No cutlery offered to us, we had to request it, No Lemonade to go with my drink, Only Burgers on menu served with no garnish I could have gone to Macdonald's & received better food & service for a fraction of the price. Not recommended

Well organised outside beer garden

Good burgers, still hot and chips were still crispy. Arrived over 30 mins late though, they just need to amend their response times as it did come within an hour which would've been fine if we'd known that was the case. Would order again!

Need to improve their estimated delivery time when ordering as 30 minutes isn’t long enough from ordering to delivery. However, food is of good quality and was hot when delivered. Restaurant service isn’t relevant (but is required to post the review) at this time due to the COVID-19 situation and are only delivering or for collection at this time.
