Travelled to Edinburgh for a small brouse about some of the best pubs in Edinburgh with family and had to introduce to Kays Bar. Hadn't visited for years due to my lication, but remembered it well. On my visit, it hadn't changed. Authentic, clean, great selection of ales and superbly ,ept as well, which is why it's been in the Good Beer Guide for multiple years. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit there and can highly recommend it to visitors to the City

Just to confirm the enduring excellence of this slightly off-the-radar Edinburgh institution, including the welcome and helpfulness from the bar staff, the quality and condition of the beers (a superlative pint of Loch Fyne Jarl on this occasion) and the energy and conversation of the patrons. I hesitate to wax too lyrical since, as usual on a Saturday evening, the bar was stuffed to the gunnels although that is part of the attraction and I'm reminded to revisit in quieter times with friends to review the excellent malt whisky selection!

We always head here on our first day in our annual pilgrimage to Edinburgh. We visit around 5pm, so it's always heaving with people. Usually we can get a seat in the tiny lounge (there's only one area), but this year we had to use the overflow area near the ladies toilet. Unfortunately, you don't get the same vibe as you would if you were rubbing shoulders with the locals at front of house. But hey-ho, that's Edinburgh pubs at rush hour! Thank goodness, Kay's is not a food oriented pub. Food belongs in a restaurant, pubs are for drinking and long may that be the case with this fine establishment. Kay's staff are top notch with service with a smile, despite them being busy busy busy. I've never had to wait for service at the bar. Nice selection of cask ales. Can't wait for 2024 visit!

Popped in hoping for a break from the fizzy craft rubbish they serve everywhere else, BINGO! Landlord and a couple of others on hand pull. Great little pub, friendly and good atmosphere....!

This small, traditional pub was recommended to us by friends as a great place to go for haggis and they were right! The helping of haggis was huge, the cost was low and the service very friendly. What more could you ask.

I won't lie, I went in because of the pub name (it has an interesting historical background) but the food was absolutely first class. Bangers and mash were on point and the servers were absolutely fantastic. The prices were good, too. 10/10 recomendation.

The selection of whisky is great and the food was alright but felt it was way overpriced for the quality we received. We were also charged £8 twice for one portion of the haggis bon bons (apparently this is some kind of a service charge, ridiculous we had to pay double for one small dish) Seems like a tourist trap to be honest and I don't think we will be back. There are so many better bars with more reasonable prices and better service.

We was on a short trip in Edinburgh and this place was the best to breakfast! So tasty and handmade food and drink.
