Kayla's Bar and Kitchen in Bexley

Kaylar's Bar is clasjcal and unique in form when it comes to African Cousines especially Nigerian and intercontinental food. All the food has their special taste and quality. I so much Kayla's Bar that i like to go there with friends and Family.

Got to Kayla’s at about 10pm to meet a couple of friends. We had a jug mixture of palm wine and Guinness which was new to me and tasty at the same time. We also ordered a table of 6 and we had a sizable bowl of Amala, ewedu and gbegiri which was quite hot by the way. But it also helped reduce the impact of the cold outside which was 6. Lovely presentation and I hope the appeal is not only to Nigerians, but to the wider community. Kudos

Food was great; it was tasty and delicious with decent portion sizes. Except for the plantain and gizzard which was a little hard. Would definitely recommend the peppered meat/beef as appetiser. Customer Service was great; but food was slow to come out. Don’t think take away containers should be charged that’s just my personal opinion. I would definitely recommend and I will be returning.

I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for good Nigerian food and excellent customer service. The food was delivered on time, and it was😋 delicious. The lady that served us was very friendly and was able to rectify a mix up without hesitation. I am definitely going back with a group of friends

The food used to be great but on the last visit it was tasteless. They also insulted my Nigerian partner by talking about him in Yoruba. Little did they know that he understood what they were saying......shame on you.

Was alright , Nigerian beers available. Would comfortably accommodate between 70-100 people. Went on a Thursday. Would like to see what Friday evening looks like.

Very good food, tailored friendly and customised service. We were made to feel welcome and at home. Recommend calling to ask about their menu and also explaining how you want your dish made to get the best. All round we had a great time!

I had fish and plantain with fried yam my fish was burnt, the yam was so hard couldn't eat it. The food was not freshly made tasted horrible didn't even eat it, I last went to this place before lockdown when the food was nice. I would never come back utter waste of time and money. The service staff are extremely rude the lady came to us chewing loudly and not looking at us with such an attitude and say what do you want. After ordering the person I was with ordered a bottle of water which she said I will bring your water when the food comes out. Not sure why she took it upon herself to make that decision anyway when the horrible food came out we didn't bother asking for the water. When the bill came the water was included and asked why it's there she proceeded to roll her eyes and say ohh. I told them how disappointing the food was she didn't seem to care. The loud music is unnecessary where you have to be shouting to be heard. Never coming back to this trash place.

I had a delightful dining experience at Kayla’s Bar recently. I ordered the Abula, a dish that was both tasty and satisfying. To accompany my meal, I indulged in two drinks - a beautifully mixed cocktail and a refreshing gin and tonic. Admittedly, the cost of the meal and drinks was a bit on the high side, causing a slight hesitation about the value for money. However, any reservations about the pricing were soon forgotten due to the superb service. The owner was exceptionally welcoming and the staff members were equally friendly, their warmth adding a lovely touch to the overall experience. Despite the higher prices, the excellent service and pleasant atmosphere have me eager to return. Kayla’s Bar definitely knows how to make guests feel appreciated, making it a delightful place for a meal. I look forward to my next visit.

Good customer service, food is nice but ridiculously overpriced.

When I go with my Ninja friends I'm treated differently from when I go without them. I find that experience rather strange

Lovely ambiance, friendly staff but loud music. Food could have been fresher. Would appear precooked and not overly fresh or freshly made!

Great tasty food with a warming ambience. African food isnt always cooked well but I applaud the kitchen staff because I truely enjoyed the food. The only down side was that there were no cocktails of my choice but apart from that everyhing else was great. The DJ had me moving and the staff were very much welcoming. I would definitley be going back!

I have been going to this place over 5years and it's due for review. I enjoy coming here alone, with friends, family to dine, dance, sing. This place is beautiful in and out, friendly staff and owner. The food is superb to your choice but sometimes can differ in flavour due to change in chef. Price is affordable and the food are worth it. If you have patient, your food might take long to come but at least it's guarantee well cooked. Good choice of drinks. Toilet is clean, you can watch your event from the TV like premier league or world cup or any other events on TV. I love to come here at night as I enjoy the DJ cool selection of latest music (Afrobeat). You vibe with other people, the vibe and atmosphere in lively. You can plan birthday or any party style of your choice here by booking ahead and best believe you will enjoy it. The staff are nice and make you comfortable, the owner is extremely humble, nice. There is security in the place to keep order. I love the fact that it's open till late and alternative to a club. I 100% recommended to visit if you looking for a good restaurant in London and you won't be disappointed.

Good music shame about the service

Ambiance of the place I will rate 2 out of 5. Starters and meals are over priced. Imagine Suya starter £15 and you can hardly count10 tiny pieces of meat. Tastes I will also rate 2 out of 5.

The Music live it, Food is good, opening and closing hours, O.K, takes time food to be ready few times and parking can be a problem following the location.

Wonderful place to chill and eat good food

We waited over 90 minutes for food which NEVER ARRIVED. Instead we just left. Total joke restaurant. The staff have zero customer service. Absolute zero. Total shambles. Never going again. Don’t waste your time, petrol and energy coming to this establishment. Plenty of other Nigerian restaurants that are ten times what this one is across south London.

Just popped in for a quick drinks, can't comment on the food as I didn't eat. No bad vibes from others that are though.

First time oldering food at kayla's I olderd some gizzard with some platain it was very delicious except I waited for a long time for a takeaway it's not on especially if it's my first time they should make an effort good if you want more customers to come back. 😏

Overpriced. £13 for a standard portion of rice. Suya flavourless and tough as old boots. If that'd your thing though...munch away.

Very clean toilet, DJ was 100% superb and the food was like 👍 proper home made naija meals, I will surely recommend 👌 👍 there service for people's, quick services everything good. Surely see me again with big birthday party for 50 guests

Nice place good size. Street parking. The only thing was that the food took too long to come. 2hours wait.

Abula was OK. Banga, not so tasty and ayamase was a bit grainy. Won't go back even if it's free.

The food was ok, the service none existent. I don't expect an awful lot from such places but good tasting authentic food and minimum service * No napkins on tables * No glasses or cups given with drinks unless you ask * Starter came with one toothpick amongst four diners. I had to go ask for some more. *Food Items not available but still on the menu * Served by an individual who had a phone permanently attached to an earpiece, attached to an ear whilst serving. As I said, I/we don't expect much regarding service from such places but how does a business intend to stay in business in such hard times when they can't get the minimum basics right.

Food was lovely...everything i at was looooovely. Staff were nice enough. Food is slightly overpriced but I have been told this is what to expect from Nigerian restaurants. Portions are ok..some dishes are big and some are ok.. Drinks we eeeeeeextremely overpriced and i mean excessively, £3 for a single can of fanta... insane... the locations is OK, parking is not awkward at best. Resturant is not big but big enough..sest are nice and they have seating booths.. all it all a good first experience. Will visit again to try all the dished

I have been here before as the seafood okra was recommended and it was generally good, so I came back and I got it for my mum as a takeaway. I don’t know what’s changed but the okro in the seafood okra is cut way too big now, like someone couldn’t be bothered, the okra was undercooked and not enough sauce in the soup. Just wasn’t as good as the first time. Service was still quick and good . Just don’t lose the quality of the meals.

I felt sick so dashed in this place you use the bathroom. The lady came and bought me some napkins and a bottle of water. I didn't have any change for the tip jar but wanted to say thank you for your kindness. Will come and try the food soon!

Food was good but took forever to arrive. Then we had to send the soup back because it was cold. The young waitress was fantastic though. The menu us overpriced.

As a local resident, I am appalled by the lack of respect shown by their guests when leaving at 2am every Saturday night. Shouting, fighting, arguing, loud music, revving car engines & clouds of drug fumes. I find this behaviour shocking. Seeing as their are so many parked cars along the High St & Hadlow Rd, I would also hazard a guess that many are also well over the DD limit!!

Ridiculously overpriced. A bottle of Guinness Stout for £8 is a joke. I've never had to pay over £5 for it.

Burnt jollof rice. Plantain tasted like it had been cooked days before or sitting in the open the whole day. Shaki was too tough (undercooked). Overall just terrible and a waste of money..

Went for a friends birthday in mid may 2019 and honestly the experience couldn’t be worse. Some of the main problems were:1. Food taking two+ hours to come and no sense of urgency from the kitchen and waiters to address this2. The worst of it all - an extremely rude waiter, I assume he’s probably in the managerial role by the way he spoke to the other waiters. He was very unprofessional and rude. Instead of placing a can of coke on the table as you would expect - he used it to tap you on your shoulder. Also, if you asked for something such as a straw, he would roll his eyes and give you attitude3. Unwelcoming and disorganised vibeWhilst the food was okay, it is definitely not worth the hell of customer service you will go through. Main message to restaurant owner and waiters - do not work in a customer facing role if you do not want to have contact with customers directly. It’s rude to roll your eyes and give attitude to customers because they ask you stuff!

Food arrived in time which was a plus for me

Wow we were looking forward to this night. We had a birthday entourage of 15 people. When i went to the bar to order drinks the bar lady was so rude, she has short coily blue/green hair. Told us she was going to serve a Chapman in disposable red cups, i politely asked why, she answered back with an attitude whilst walking away, told us there were no clean glasses available and this was just after 9pm, me and my sister just looked at each other amazed with bad customer treatment/interaction. I said it was ok to serve us in the red disposable. So she proceeded to put ice and filled the whole cup to the top with ice and we expressed we only want half of the ice in the cup or lower. She was disputing us that it is served like that and i told her are we not allowed to make a choice. Her facial expressions were not pleasant. Anyways food came late but most orders got mixed up. Food was very mediocre, the beef with yam was so rubbery we had to send it back to the kitchen. We were given another one. Fried fish/tilapia was like drowning in a stew of mixed peppers 😥. Every one kept asking for salt, no salt whatsoever in the food. We requested Maggi liquid, non available. It was so difficult to get salt and our 3 tables had to share 1 salt shaker! Food was beyond bland. Bar staff too rude. Everyone from our group wont be going back there and we like supporting our own but very let down. To top all of this we had a cake displayed for us on a cake stand same as other people who were also celebrating birthdays in there. We sang happy birthday song, time to cut the cake. We was denied serving cake in there but when booking was made they were aware of the cake, even displayed it for us. Didn't make sense. We are all very upset with this place, shud have gone to Nandos or KFC instead of these disappointments. This is my 1st time leaving a review. Only good thing there was the atmosphere.

This is the best Nigerian cuisine on offer in South East London. Strongly recommended if you have gotten bored with the same old pizza and kebab takeaway every other night. Try something different, enjoy something unique.

The worstttttt customer service ever. A day before going to the restraunt we had given them what each person would like to eat from the menu. Everyone arrived at 10pm they gave us our table. They had our orders already as I said a day before. However, we waited 2 hours before our food came out to the table. Plus our food were coming at different times. One person had finished their food while another person would be starting their food. One of the ladies was served burnt Jellof rice which I could smell. Some people had to take their food home because it was too late to eat in the restraunt. I will never come here again.

I’ve been to this Nigerian restaurant twice and haven’t been let down. The owner/manager appears to be onsite 100% of the time so the service is pretty much always spot on. There’s music from a DJ after 10pm on some days. It can get busy so turn up early and place your order like me otherwise you might find yourself getting ‘hangry’. They also accept card/contactless payments. I had the grilled tilapia with sweet bell peppers & scotch bonnet & onion sauce with fried yam wedges (yam wedges were UBËR moist) price was reasonable for the size, meal presentation was appealing to the eye. Seafood Okra is next on my agenda. ⚠️⚠️ Don’t be tempted to park illegally in the vicinity or you will find your meal turns out rather expensive.

Came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday, unfortunately her night was ruined. Worst service I have seen. Left the place without eating although meals were preordered days before. Seriously if you want to ruin your night come to this restaurant. Worst restaurant I have ever been to my entire life. Very few staff, 3 parties booked on the same night, it was all very chaotic. I’m lost for words.
