Wonderful menu and great Goyan food

Such a gorgeous restaurant. The food is amazing. So much choice!! And as a vegetarian, this was brilliant. This was the most delicious meal I have had in years. Our waiter Akash was wonderful and very attentive.

We mostly get take aways from here, have to say the takeaway we had last week on 03/10 (order # 6304) was amazing with generous portion sizes, chef paid attention to all our requirements and staff packed the food well and in time. It was so good we are again ordering today!!!

The food was so good I would recommend the restaurant highly the service was also incredible.

Had the honour of attending a family event at Kayal - West Byfleet. The care and quality provided by Manager Joshi was outstanding, in addition to the delicious food and cozy ambiance.

Had an absolutely wonderful meal at Kayal in Nottingham. It was our first time there and our lovely waitress Mahi helped us choose our dishes. The Pork Poli was delicious - very tender and amazing flavours. For the main, I was advised to have the Talipia Pollichathu and I have to see it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t normally have ordered fish, but I’m so glad I was persuaded to order this. My wife had the Meen Porichthu and loved it! Thoroughly recommended - great staff, atmosphere and food. And Mahi is an absolute star!

Sunday Birthday Lunch for my Sophia’s birthday- we are new to South Indian cuisine and loved it - our waitress Afroos was particularly helpful with choosing our dishes - we particularly enjoyed the Marsala Dosa - great food, excellent service and lovely atmosphere, Thank you

It is usually good, but this time the vada was not chewable and much smaller in size. The aubergines were undercooked in the curry and the dosa was tasteless.

I love this place, they make the best Biryani I've had and all the dishes I've tried have been packed with flavour, not over spiced, and perfect texture.

Walked in and they said we MUST order the thali. But then let the table seated beside us order something else... Over priced. Underwhelming food.

Great food and service. Came in for a small afternoon lunch and the atmosphere was so good we stayed for dinner. It was superb and as ever, a lovely experience. The staff are so polite and friendly. It’s a pleasure to go there.

Superb value, brilliant food , go for the business lunch

Take out quantities are quite underwhelming. Tried a bunch of dishes and they were average at best, and they had the most tasteless grilled fish ever made.

Our first time here, and we had a great experience! The food was authentic and delicious. We tried the porotta with beef, ghee roast, and biryani, and everything was fantastic. The staff was excellent—special thanks to Neeraj for making our visit memorable!

Our friends wanted to catch up with my wife and I - one of the group is a Priest from Kerala who immediately suggested the Kayal in West Byfleet. “ This restaurant cooks my food like my Mum does he stated”. Therefore we met up there, all 6 of us. What a great decision and what a wonderful meal. Vio and his staff looked after us remarkably well and the Priest said he felt at home again. It the only restaurant that produces food like home. We had a wonderful evening and enjoyed ourselves greatly. Nothing was too difficult for the staff and the kitchen turn out its usual high quality of food. We look forward to returning again with our friends but, it does not stop us from wanting to go there on our own.

I recently went to Kayal with my 9 year old at 1440.He really likes the squid rings and mango lassi there. I had there express lunch Biriyani. I was not aware that the shop closes by 3 pm in weekdays. However, Vio who served us was very kind and waited extra till we finished over lunch. I have been to Kayal many times before. I like their appam, chilli chicken and fried rice the most.

Great place to eat Keralan cuisine. The staff are amazing (big shout out to Vio) , and the food is comforting and tasty. Vio has served us before, and every single time he’s amazing- superb attitude, always attentive and makes great recommendations for food to order

Tried this after having been to the Kayal in Leicester and I must say the food lived up to the standards. The fish currie on bananas leaf was really tasty with distinct flavors. We also tried the paper and masala dosa were also good and filling. All appams were fresh and crispy.

All the way from Sydney, malayalees from Calicut. Great food, Appam was our favourite.

Sorry to say but the Kayla has really gone down hill,went tonight the staff seemed not to bother.The food was very average.Went to impresse our friends but we had to apologise to them.Very small portions of food.Came home and had a cheese sandwich.Come on guys up your game.I like the restaurant. But better restaurants in West Byfleet.Sorry again!

Very bad Experience, as my husband is from the south of India the food was not authentic. Had Squid and it had a weird smell taste and texture to it. We ordered a starter that was with popppdum, cost us £5 for that totally not worth it and wouldn’t recommend it. The only good thing was the waiter could speak in Malayalam, other than that I did not have a good time here.

Wow... Really good service and food!!! Edit: This place has really disappointed us. We've tried so many times now to give it another go. After our recent attempts I regret to say this place has dropped from an epic place to really bad. Service is terrible, food quality significantly dropped, prices way up... So sad.

We have eaten at Kayal several times in the last couple of months and without fail the food is excellent. Our favourite starter is the Uzhunnu Vada (fried lentils balls served with chutneys). There are dosas and thalis with vegetarian options, all of which are very tasty. Other favourites are Kathrika Curry (aubergine curry) and the pooris are amazing. Vio was our friendly waiter and made us welcome. Refreshingly different from run of the mill Indian restaurants. Highly recommended and not overpriced.

Visited kayal for a birthday celebration, did not like the food, not authentic at all. The table we sat at was not clean. The food was not good and not up to standard that we were expecting.

This place is absolutely amazing and has very authentic Kerala style food which we were craving for. We had the grilled fish called Meen Porichathu. We also had the Nair masala Dosa. Highly recommended.

I've visited Kayal twice, and I must say, the dishes I have tried are really good! It's worth the price. I enjoyed the Porotta and Beef; the porotta tasted just like it does back home, freshly made and delicious. The beef was flavorful and well-prepared. Although I found the texture of the Tilapia fish in the curry less appealing, the gravy was good but can be improved, as it lacked that Kerala touch. The staff members are really friendly and they know what they are serving, which is a good thing. Overall, Kayal stands out as one of the best Kerala restaurants in the UK🏅👏🏼

The best and most authentic Keralan food I’ve had outside of Kerala! Kallappam and Kathrika curry are especially delicious and their dosas are good too. Veg korma and veg stews also brilliant. The perfect place to take gluten free or vegans too as lots of options.

I generally have the business lunch (available Mondays to Thursdays lunchtime) and you can’t beat it in terms of value and the quality.

The service and atmosphere is so good. Food is ok. If you are looking for a Kerala cuisine taste it's not. Otherwise food is good.

Beautiful ambience and decor. They have a bar. The guests were mostly young and mixed crowd and not just Brit- Indians. Good south Indian delicacies, specially Kerala cuisines. And the service is very good and timely. They are located at a quite corner near the station approach- westbyfleet. This will be one of our regular go to restaurants, going forward when we crave for south Indian food

A very enjoyable lunch for an important family occasion: two birthdays including a milestone one. We were looked after very well and the food was delicious. Would heartily recommend! It was a bit quiet when we first arrived but filled up later and the atmosphere was very jolly.

I ordered a takeaway from Kayal and despite most of the food being tasty it deserves 1 star. I ordered a prawns starter and ended up with 4 battered prawn tails with no prawn meat. If a restaurant is being dishonest with such things, what else are they being dishonest with?

Fabulous food and very friendly people. Note that it's not your usual "indian" style of cooking (which is mostly Bangladeshi anyway) but REAL southern Indian food so most of the menu might seem strange to you. Don't be afraid to ask, they are very good at guiding you through it. Well worth a visit, their spice blends are exceptional. Utterly delicious.

We tried Kayal while following a vegetarian diet previously and didn't enjoy the food. Curious about their non-vegetarian options, we revisited today. The mixed seafood platter fell short, with cold fish. Appam and kallushap meen curry were decent, but we've had better as seafood enthusiasts. The thalaserry chicken biryani stood out as delicious, but overall, the experience wasn't mind-blowing – just okay.

We love it here. Great vegetarian options. (And lots of vegan although we aren’t yet) reccommend the paper masala dosa which is the big Lentil and rice wrap that comes with dips and potatoes. And the mutter peer is banging. Not too pricey. And lovely staff.

Food was excellent. We had Masala and Paper dosa which was authentic South Indian dish. Service was good. We were a bit late however the cook and the waiter accommodated us. We will definitely go again.

Oh my goodness, I just have to tell you about our latest food adventure! We visited Kayal, and let me tell you, it was a dive straight into the heart of Kerala cuisine. The place itself has such a cozy and welcoming vibe. It’s like stepping into a little piece of Kerala right here in the city. And the staff? Super friendly and attentive! Now, let’s talk about the food because that’s the real star of the show. We started with Kappa (Tapioca), and it was just the right mix of soft and flavorful. It kind of set the stage for what was to come. The Beef Ularth, oh my! It was this beautiful blend of spices and tender beef – every bite was a flavor explosion. Then came the Masala Dosa, crispy on the outside with a perfectly spiced filling. Absolutely delicious! We also tried Idiyappam, which was this delicate, stringy delight, perfect for balancing the spice in the other dishes. The Fish Mulakitath was another hit – tangy, spicy, and the fish was cooked just right. But the Chicken Stew in Coconut Milk – that was something else! It was so creamy and comforting, like a warm hug in a bowl. We also had Kallapam and Fish Pollichath, each unique and bursting with flavor. Now, the Thalassery Chicken Biryani was the showstopper. It was aromatic, the rice and chicken cooked to perfection, and just packed with flavors. And for dessert, Unnakaya and Kulfi. The Unnakaya was this sweet, banana-filled treat – a perfect end to the meal. The Kulfi was the icing on the cake – creamy, cold, and just the right amount of sweet. Honestly, Kayal is more than just a restaurant. It’s like a little journey to Kerala with every visit. The food, the ambiance, the people – everything comes together to create this wonderful experience. Can’t wait to go back!

Great place if you want to be letting rip all night long. Definitely not an ‘English curry’. Along with stale pupadums I think I won’t be returning. I will in future be sticking to Hawelli which is excellent and right across the street. Would I be surprised to see less than adequate food prep here? Buckets of swill and general filth in the kitchen. Almost certainly. The guy at the bar needs to relax as well. From the way he looked at me one would have thought I was a planning on robbing the place not receiving a takeaway.

Last weekend had lunch with my family at Kayal in West Byfleet. Not the first time that we visit the restaurant, and given good past experiences we keen returning. This time experience was good too. Attentive and friendly staff, good food, nice size of portions, good knowledge of the menu by the staff. Overall a very good experience. One thing that surprised us was that for being a Sunday at lunch time, the restaurant was almost empty. Maybe that helped to have the staff really dedicated to us and the kitchen to deliver food very fast. All in all, good experience and a place where we will definitely eat again

We are regulars at Kayal and can absolutely vouch for the food! We had the fish sadhya today and it was really delicious, and beautifully presented on a banana leaf, the traditional way! Vio is really friendly and great at recommending new things to try. Overall, I think it’s a must visit, and definitely say hello to Vio!

If you like fish curry this place is amazing, they do other types too but seafood is their strength. The only weakness is the service can be a little slow or difficult to interact with, frustrating when you want another drink and weren't offered one when the main courses were delivered.

FOOD POISON, ordered Onam Sadya two weeks before, the quantity was less compared to a meals, taste was not bad but all impression lost as we all got food poison and for somebody it was worse as lasted for a couple of days. Regarding the Onam sadya, banana leaf was missing, many side dishes was not enough for everybody. Some were reheated not fresh made. The restaurant when called to report the issue took it very casually and don’t posses any responsibility, they were eager to refund but not hearing the concerns. Its food you are serving not a product to return or refund. Do consider that.

Lovely authentic Kerala food and service with smile. They were very happy to cater to our food allergies. The appams were super soft and all curries really yumm. The food came pretty quickly as well!

Onam Sadya meal. Food exceeded our expectations. Staff was very attentive and cheerful (which does make a difference). Overall, they were able to recreate a nostalgic Kerala vibe on a dreary cold English afternoon.

My friends and I ordered Onam Sadya from Kayal on Monday, August 28th. All of us experienced stomach issues, severe headaches, and vomiting. One of us got it very severely, so we called the restaurant to inform them about this. However, the manager couldn't control his laughter. I don't understand why this was so amusing to him. I clearly don't think that this is how they should respond to their customers.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the Onam Sadhya takeaway on Monday from Kayal restaurant, West Byfleet. There was a variety of delicious curries and traditional Kerala dishes such as Avial , Inji Puli , Sambar and many more .The food is high quality and I felt like I was in Kerala . Definitely will be going back to this wonderful place !!!

The food was great - not your average Indian takeaway food; this is very authentic, and very tasty! We had the vegetable platter dinner, which was a great way to try all sorts of different flavours. Only negatives were that we could have had better service, we were left hanging a few times, and there could have been some info on the menu as to what was served in the platter. However - we had a lovely, delicious dinner and would definitely recommend Kayal for a different Indian food experience!

Fantastic food... not a typical Indian. I had fish steamed in a banana leaf with the most amazing sauce!

We enjoyed our visit. The service was good, the atmosphere was great and the food was superb. I enjoyed a Dosa (curry in a pancake) and my wife had a delicious smoky fish dish. The others I was with enjoyed their curries and biryani too. There is plenty of parking nearby in the station car park. There's space for push chairs and some high chairs available. Overall highly recommended.
