Kaya in Chiltern

It was the worst experience I've had in a long time. We waited a long time for our starters to be served when they did arrive it was not hot and we had to ask for some of the starters to be redone. Myself and wife got food poisoning, right now as I write this I am unwell and that is so unusual for me. My wife was sick the next day. Find another restaurant, you'll be taking a risk going to this place. I felt so bad taking my children there.

Decent food and the buffet is great value and freshly cooked. Stereo-typical food - be great to see more emphasis on special dishes or for recommendations. Would recommend. The takeaway does get busy - a good sign! A few reviews should be better aimed at the delivery people and not the restaurant. Only down side is the music - must be popular and can't please everyone.

AVOID!!! Awful service. Late delivery waited over 2 hours. They bulk cook all orders and send everything out with one driver so everything turns up cold. Awful management rude and take no accountability for their poor service.

Noisy, kids running around everywhere, didn’t get to the food as was 25 mins before we saw a menu, wasted a sat night.

I have nothing bad to say about Kaya, we had amazing food, the staff were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was spot on! We will definitely be back as regulars! Thank you Kaya Team!!

Why isn’t a zero star review an option! Ordered via just eat yet, after an hour of trying to get through to the restaurant I’m told it’s nothing to do with them. Very late, stone cold and not fit for human consumption. Won’t risk the dog eating it!!!!!! Straight to the bin but the owner doesn’t care - he has the money that I need to wrestle back off Just Eat. Avoid this place at all costs.

A lovely 3 course meal , all you can eat , plentiful , tasty , great value for money, friendly staff , surroundings pretty with tropical fish, beautiful, parking at front , definitely be returning, many thanks x

We had the 3 course set menu that was absolutely delicious. The waiter was attentive and charming 😀the ambiance and lighting was perfect especially with 2 lamps on the table😂 I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant and shall be coming back regularly. They also do fabulous cocktails for only £6 a pop!!

The food and service at the Kaya in the Chalfont’s was ok and the staff were very friendly , but there were disappointments. We asked for tap water to take some tablets. It was like they hadn’t bothered to run the tap. Tasted warm but didn’t ask for ice. My soup was cold in parts so had to stir it. The duck pancakes split, so made eating them was incredibly messy. They were not busy, but we will restrict our visits to lunchtimes and take aways in future. Have really enjoyed some visits in the past but is not a local restaurant, but the only Malaysian I know of. The menu is extensive and the food is good.

The service from the staff but one waiter was massively terrible, the waiter was so conformational and he displayed anger issues when asked about a certain dish, due to his bad service i do not recommend a visit!

Ordered a takeaway my family eat meat and I am a vegetarian. The restaurant labelled the vegetarian roll wrong that had meat inside. They should be more cautious with people’s requirements. Not happy I was not aware it had meat in until I noticed chicken inside after I had started eating.

The welcome and customer service was friendly, the food was excellent (varied menu - chinese/malaysian fusion) and the cost was realistic.

Still awful poor quality food made with pre bought seasoning that contains MSG (you can’t ask it for it to be taken out!) I’ve had more bad meals than good here. I never want to go back

All previous visits we’d raves about the food and recommended to many friends. This time service was appallingly slow, food cold and noodles burnt, some dishes wrong and even getting drinks took four requests. Tried giving them chance to respond before posting a review but five attempts and two weeks later had no choice. Won’t be hurrying back and just refused an offer by friends for a pre-Christmas treat.

Either run a restaurant or serve JustEat cant do both Got fed up watching waitress pulling reams of orders out just eat machine and ignoring us. When food came it was good.

We have had some fantastic nights at Koya, unfortunately after receiving two out of the three main courses we had ordered, after questioning where the third one was, we were told that they had ran out of the dish ordered. I asked why we had not been notified, only to be told that they didn't have it. Sitting there with my wife having no food, ruined the night. Don't think I will be going back, only if we are dieting. Very dissapointing

We enjoyed a Malaysian set meal and were impressed with every course. The Beef Rendang was superb and the starters had tasty treats we have never tried before. Service was good and friendly despite a very busy night. Fabulous.

A Monday night take away to celebrate our adult son’s birthday. We opted for the vegetarian set menu, adding crispy aromatic vegetarian duck pancakes. This is something we don’t find is very often on a Chinese menu. The food arrived promptly and was piping hot. It was obviously freshly prepared and cooked. The balance of flavours was superb. Thoroughly recommend. Really delicious.

The owners are friendly and passionate, the food is always great quality and fair in price and The menu is extensive. If you are in need of a takeaway, get it from here. Order processing can sometimes be a little tardy but it is well worth the wait.

Having dined 7 times at this place. Normally pretty good to be honest. For the first time we ordered the crispy duck and pancakes etc . Inedible scraps of soggy meat product coated in flour or something similar. Tasteless, poorly prepared gooey morsels of individually...

Second time at this restaurant, first visit was good , food is really good , service is probably the worst ever , obviously short staffed , kitchen under pressure , 1 hour and 45 minutes for two courses , It’s quite sad to see the restaurant so busy , unfortunately the management don’t seem to be able to keep pace with demand , I wouldn’t recommend here unfortunately.

Just ordered take away at 5pm Sat 8th Aug. Most of the time the service is great, today the elder gentleman who served me was extremely rude. Despite telling him on the phone the whole should be without onion, garlic and eggs because my daughter is allergic to them. He denied this blatantly and was rude about it on top. Ordered and paid for a family takeaway on their website at 4:30 on Saturday. I received a confirmation email soon after, 7pm collection. It wasn't ready, I kept being told it was on its way.......Ninety minutes later, they admit they couldn"t find my order on their system. It took me a further ten minutes to get a refund out of them.

This was the best Chinese I think I've ever had. Very tasty and delicious piping hot. Delivery took a bit of time but what do u expect from a Chinese this good and the current situation peaple should be a little more understanding. We waited an hour and a half for our dinner. Having paid £6.50 per person for mixed starters there was no seaweed at all which is my favourite bit. All was cold and unappetising. We are regulars in the restaurant but the takeaway was simply awful. Kaya up your game! Don’t order at the moment!!!

Could be the worst Chinese takeaway ive ever had. The meat is disgusting, especially the duck which is literally lumps of skin and gristle. The only decent thing was the chicken and sweet corn soup. I bought the takeaway for my mum and I, and me being a full time student at university spending money on my mum when I have it is a big thing - this was a complete waste of my money.

Took two and a half hours to arrive chips were cold and they left drinks off our order. We requested delivery but as it was taking so long I went down. The car park was rammed with similar issues to my own. After about 20mins of standing there as requested by the owner (lady) who greeted me very abruptly and rudely, I was then informed that they didn’t have my order that it was out for delivery. So all in all, cold food (which tasted average), order wrong and took nearly 3hrs to be delivered......never again!!

Take-away ordered online via Just Eat for collection (not delivery). Arrived at appointed time. Left after a 1 hour 20 minute wait. Without food. Was told after all that wait that they had no record of my order! This in spite of me having full confirmation email etc from Just Eat. Front of house was clearly under ridiculous pressure (they'd presumably accepted too many orders) but there was NO effort to match customers to pending orders. They just shouted at the kitchen staff. Totally chaotic and incompetent. I was not the only person waiting way beyond the promised delivery time.Shame, because I'd eaten there once before and the food was rather good. But can't realistically see myself going back.Obviously things are difficult at the moment, but surely: DON'T ACCEPT MORE ORDERS THAN YOU CAN FULFILL and CHECK THAT YOU HAVE AN ORDER FOR EACH WAITING CUSTOMER. Simples. <Sigh>

As always another lovely meal in Kaya. The lunch menu special is fabulous, especially the huge range of starters. The satay chicken, the ribs and the duck were especially yummy. The service in Kaya is always super friendly, welcoming and a nice balance of attentiveness whenever needed. My red Thai curry was spot on and my youngest loved her noodles. Often go here for a takeaway as well and again recommend. In summary lovely food, great value and even nicer people.

Was very good, food is very good. Service was good, but now is terrible and very impersonable. What a shame!

Our party of six were the only customers on a Saturday lunchtime so we had the full attention of the waiting and kitchen staff. Service was excellent with lots of banter and fun. We over ordered but managed somehow to eat almost all of the food, which was definitely superior quality. We had the Chinese set menu for four and the Malay set menu for two, so it really was a feast. We particularly liked the Malay dishes with their different flavouring to the more familiar Chinese ones. A really good experience and I’m sure we’ll be back for more!

Take away previously had been really good-forget eating in,small portions bad service and unhelpful staff. Nor busy on a saturday should have given us a clue,always try things once,never again!

Don’t understand the bad reviews, we’ve eaten in this restaurant a lot, we’ve always had great meals and the service has always been good.

This is a great place, I go there every time I’m in the area which is about 8 times a year and I really look forward to it!

Avoid this place at all costs..

We ordered from Kaya late (8.30) on a Saturday night using their online booking method, the first problem we had was that it told us it would be 1 hour due to high demand, however immediately after booking we got a text message to say it would be 1.5 hours. Had we known it would take so long we wouldn’t have paid for it, we would have gone with another company as there are plenty locally. Secondly, after over 1.5 hours wait the food arrived with 1 item being stone cold and 1 item missing a rather vital part - the crispy duck was missing the hoisin sauce!!! To put this in to context, we only ordered 3 items so that’s quite a large proportion of it being wrong. We called back immediately, whilst also looking out the window to see if the driver was still here (he wasn’t.) After multiple calls we managed to get through and explained that it was missing, she said she’d send some. We waited and waited and waited, we called and called and called. More than 1 hour after we called about the hoisin it still hadn’t turned up. I think it’s pretty safe to say we won’t be ordering again. It’s such an easy thing to bring us some of, whilst doing another delivery. It doesn’t require any cooking or preparation, the place is a joke. Also, a watch out, if you do get the duck it’s pre-shredded but yet still riddled with bones.

All I can say is, avoid ordering from this place.

We're regulars here, bothy for eating in and (less often) takeaways, but had a terrible experience last month, reviewed here, trying and failing to order a takeaway meal.

The staff are brusque and do not add to the experience. I think their attitude is a bit like the food.

We've been several times, both to eat in and takeaway, and always been well satisfied - see our previous reviews. But last night was a disaster.

Myself and my husband visited Kaya for dinner. Food was disappointing, service even more so. Our food was plonked on our table, one dish on top of my husbands phone! While waiting on our main, we went for a cigarette, then Bang Bang!! The waiter and the hot plate banged on the window to tell us it was ready!!! Unbelievable. Best thing...probably the fish tank!

Wanted to try something new for a little bit of a special dinner & drove out to Kaya as you can never go wrong with Malaysian food.

Went last night for dinner. Absolutely delicious food. We had mixed starters followed by the crispy aromatic duck. We also enjoyed sitting next to the aquarium and watching the tropical fish.

We enjoyed a lovely evening and excellent food here last night to celebrate the anniversary of my social group and even though there was only 13 of us they still put the Disco on for us which was excellent. Friendly and helpful owner and attentive staff made my job as the organiser very easy and we will certainly come back again. It was just like old times when I used to organise walking group social events there with New York New York to end the evening. Everyone had a great time. Thanks

If you want a fun night out then Friday night at Kaya is one of the places to go. From 9pm onwards they have a DJ and a proper dance floor. We went just before Xmas but unfortunately the place was almost empty. However my friend and I had fun dancing and I believe now that word is out about the DJ/dancing it is busy on a Friday. The food was good but the place lacked atmosphere due to lack of customers. Will definitely be going back. Service was good and the staff were friendly and helpful

Evening meal for 5 a couple of weeks ago. Firstly I had rang to amend my booking from 4 to 5 about 3 weeks before. They hadn't adjusted their booking and were initially told they couldn't fit us in unless it was on a very small table. Luckily the staff then found a bigger table for us. The food was very good but we had to wait ages for it. The starters for everyone else came but mine didn't. Everyone had finished theirs and still no sign of mine. I had to ask for it in the end and it had to be cooked quickly. The main courses were ridiculously late. 7.30pm booking and we got them just before 10pm, after asking again where our food was. I was beyond feeling hungry by that time and was tired and ready for bed, not eating! Didn't dare order dessert as it could've become breakfast. Then a disco started up whilst we were still eating, not exactly a relaxing atmosphere in which to chat with my friends. Eventually we got the bill to which £13 service charge was automatically added. We told them that we weren't paying this charge due to the problems we'd had getting our food. The food was great but the length of time we had to wait and also chase our food put us all off ever coming here again.

The staff are lovely, the food is amazing so fresh and perfectly cooked. Will be going back for my birthday for sure as the disco after 10pm on the weekend is a great finish to the night! p.s sit near the fish tank

i live in chalfont st peter, near the high street so i have to drive to this place. there was a couple of parking spaces left and the place was full so thats no problem. ive just seen they do delivery so i might order takeaway here next time i get the need for quaffing some chilli beef of spicy noodles.

Best Chinese in the area. Super friendly , great hot food and a pleasure to frequent. Nothing is too much trouble and always change set food types to please the customer. Nothing is too much trouble.

Went last night with friends, live in CSG so local to us. Food was excellent, staff very friendly, will be going back again, shame it wasn't as busy as I thought it would or should be as couldn't fault it at all.

We get regular take aways and I organise large Christmas party’s at Kaya and found the food good . The last couple of takeaways have not been as good but we gave it another go Saturday and the food was awful. I phoned to say the starters where re heated and hard and the noodles had such a bad smell we didn’t even try them. I called them NOT for a refund but for their own benefit as to warn them so they could talk with chef and avoid more calls like mine !! Instead I was amazed as the person on the other end went straight on the defensive, not listening and I was told to calm down although I wasn’t even raising my voice. The man was SO rude NO apology at all ! He did offer to collect the food so he could try it (as he didn’t believe me) but it was already in the food bin he said there nothing I can do then. I will NEVER eat there again and suggest the man learns the skills of Customer service.

I am concerned that this restaurant who offer takeaway food service and delivery do not have adequate telephone manners.

Having lived in Chalfont for over a year now, it is lovely to have some local restaurants to pick from. However I will never be using Kaya’s services again.

This is my second visit in 3 days. I took my partner here today to celebrate our 7th anniversary. When we arrived, our table was decorated and a 'Happy Anniversary' bunting and glitter on the table. What a lovely surprise and nice touch and starts off a great day.

Great selection of food which was all so tasty. Wide seldction of vegetarian dishes. Thoroughly recommended !

Kaya is definitely my favourite Chinese restaurant. The vegetarian dishes are all fantastic, without exception. My personal favourite is the Bak Choi, which is exceptional.

The kaya's all you can eat menu on a sunday is well worth the money with only costing £17.90 and with me and my friend having soft drinks, the drinks were well priced at £2.20 for a standard coke which is acceptable. The enviroment and the friendly staff which the kaya provide is great, with table service and hot food to order.

We were a table of four and had plentiful starters - ribs, chicken satay, prawn toast and vegetable spring rolls followed by 1/4 crispy duck between four of us and mains and rice with veg each. The main courses were very small (like half sizes) but were good quality and you can ask for more dishes to be cooked and this helps avoid waste at the end of the meal because you can’t take it home. At £17.90 per head it’s quite expensive for a Wednesday night buffet but was very good quality. The biggest gripe however is the price of the beer. It’s almost £5 for a 330ml bottle of Chinese beer - prices here need to be reviewed as this is just extortionate.

The offer of as much as you can eat' for £17 is on the face of it is an attractive pitch but this applies to all those at the table. Where is does work is when there is one or two of you and you can sample more variety. The availability though is not sourced from all the items on the main menu so check it includes your favourite dishes. The service is good and friendly. The wine average but nothing special. There is plenty of space around the tables and the interior is well laid out and inviting. Dish for dish we felt that the quality was not quite as good as the alternative a few miles away in Little Chalfont. On balance I would say it was good but it doesn't need much to make it very good.

I really enjoy Kaya. They serve generous portions, the service is attentive and the food is very tasty. We can't help but order a lot of food to sample all the different flavours.

This restaurant has changed hands and name several times in recent years, each time being an improvement. We don’t see how it could get much better than it is currently. Prior to its current incarnation, Dynasty in Little Chalfont was easily the best but sadly it closed a few years ago. We have dined there nine times in the past year and the most recent visit was brilliant. The menu is varied and very fairly priced. We recommend the seafood starters, followed by the usual crisp duck if you are really hungry, then a main course each with some rice or noodles. The management and staff are extremely attentive but, most importantly, also leave you alone to eat your meal and talk to your dining partners. Looking forward to our next visit. The takeaway (delivery available) is excellent also.

We've been looking for a new "regular" since the Jasmine in Beaconsfield closed (owner retired!) We've had take-away from Soya so when we realised that Kaya is run by the same team we had to give it a go.

Went with friends on Sunday for the all you can eat buffet.great selection and lovely freshly cooked food. Best sesame prawn toast and Thai chicken wings. Really good vegetarian offerings as well. Service was friendly and efficient, all in all a very enjoyable experience. We will be back!

Ordered a takeaway. Surprised to find there was a charge for delivery, the only one I have encountered in the area. The Prawn Crackers & Pad Thai was very good, as was the Malaysian Fried Rice. The Smoked Shredded Chicken was fairly tasteless and the Crispy Shredded Chilli Beef was not very chilli but extremely chewy, the rest of the dishes we not very noteworthy.

The staff were very welcoming. The service was prompt and the staff were attentive and friendly. The food was absolutely amazing! Every dish through the starters, soup, duck and mains were all exceptional. The food was fresh, hot and light, not greasy or heavy at all. The staff didn't realise that this was our first visit and it definitely will not be our last. Myself, husband and son left completely satisfied. It was also fantastic value for money.

A large restaurant but the tables carefully arranged so you do not feel exposed. We sat by the tropical fish tank and were entertained by myriads of colorful fish. We ordered from the lunch special menu ( £8.90 for 2 courses and a soft drink) and found it very tasty and enough for lunch time. The food is asian; a mix of chinese, thai indian and malasian.and we will definitely go back to try something different. Friendly staff but not overly so.. We enjoyed our visit very much.

Rather than a takeaway we decided to see if Kaya could fit us in somewhat lastminute on a Saturday; they could though we were towards the back of the restaurant near the toilets but not a problem.

Came here after we got turned away from Tom Yum and were very happy that we did! The servers were extremely friendly and helpful, joking around with us whenever they came by.

Been eating in and having takeaway for a year now, the food is amazing and the service is good.Restaurant also has a private room and dance floor which is nice for special function.

We ordered from Katya again on Saturday night. The food was hot, good quality and arrived early. My tip is to book direct and avoid Just Eat - that just seems to delay things. Will order again and will eat in soon.

Further to my previous 5 star review, 2nd and 3rd visits were a disaster. On the last visit the restaurant was fairly empty but we still waited ages for our starter (crispy duck) and when it did arrive part of main course arrived at the same time. It seems the staff don’t have a clue about serving and they all seem to run around serving every table a little bit which just adds to the confusion. They need to learn to take responsibility for their own sections and not try to do everything because that’s when it all goes wrong. The service was so appalling and it’s a shame because the food was good, but looking at the other recent reviews I will not be going back again.

Ordered take away from here as my regular place was closed. I won't be doing that again - ordered at 5:15pm and finally received the order at 7:15pm after numerous calls to the restaurant to find out where it was. When it arrived one of the items ordered was wrong - sweet and sour king prawn balls rather than Hong Kong style. The King prawn was caked in thick, greasy batter. The vegetable spring rolls were soggy and didn't taste of anything. The special fried rice also wasn't good. Very disappointed and certainly won't be using them again.

We came here on a Tuesday night and although there were lots of cars in the car park, there weren't that many diners.

Three of us popped in for a meal on Sunday night and were really impressed! The food was absolutely superb - we had sweet and sour prawns, sweet and sour chicken and duck in orange sauce, with a chow mein noodle and a rice dish to share. We finished the lot and loved it. The duck was particularly fine, with the orange flavour beautifully infused. With a range of drinks including an excellent house red, our bill cam to about £18 per head and we considered it an excellent price for the area, quality of food, service and drinks on offer. The staff were lovely - helpful, friendly and quick. Safe, off-road parking right outside the front door. We will definitely be back.

Stuck in traffic one dreary September evening, I decided to take a chance and pop into Kaya (which I regularly pass on my commute to work).

We stumbled across this place after our boys had a party at his friends. What a great find, I believe it is under new management and the food was amazing, so tasty. The staff are very attentive and if we are in the area again we would definitely return.

Been twice now. Both times the food is faultless and the service is superb. Food comes out piping hot and the young waiter let us try a wine before committing to it. Absolutely superb crispy duck.
