Kaya Meze Bar in Medway

Celebrated my Dad’s birthday here & it was such a fantastic evening. The staff were so attentive, nothing was too much trouble, the food was lovely and you can tell the meat is high quality, there is a fantastic selection of drinks, cocktails and mocktails & lovely desserts too. The atmosphere was lively too. Can’t wait to come back!!!

Read good reviews about this restaurant, so we decided to try it out as we like and know Turkish and Middle Eastern food really well. Well, for us it wasn't a 5 star experience. But lets start from the beginning. We arrived around 4.30pm, had a warm welcome and got seated by the window when the rest of the restaurant was almost empty. I know many restaurants practice this for enticing others in, but don't like to be the one on display, but we went along with the hostesses suggestion. The menus were brought, 3 meal menus and one drink menu. We proceeded to order and as it was a triple birthday celebration, we went all out and ordered drinks, starters, main courses, deserts and cocktails. We were really looking forward to one of the starters, baba ganoush, as it's one of our favourites. Whilst the hummus, cacik and others were OK, the baba ganoush was NOT baba ganoush. When we mentioned it to the young waiter who was overseeing our table, he insisted that it is. Several times. We let it go as it was pointless arguing with him, but were annoyed when he was forcefully telling us that's how this dish is supposed to be. The mains were nice, but for the price they charge, we'd expected more meat to be included. E.g.: the mixed shish came with 3 pieces of chicken and 3 pieces of lamb. The accompaniments (rice or bulgur) were cold. Another thing we were looking forward to was the baklava. Sadly, this was the greatest disappointment: a small piece of cold baklava with almost no nuts in it was split in half and icy, subpar chocolate ice-cream was wedged in the middle, ruining the consistency of it all. Reinventing a classical desert only works if you make it better, not worse. The cocktails were really good, no complaints there. All together we are giving it 3 stars and will likely find other Turkish restaurants to go to in the future as we like the authentic flavours and kind waiters who don't antagonize their customers. Must add that out of our trio, 2 work in restaurants, 1 is a chef in a high-end restaurant in London and all 3 of us know how to and make baba ganush. We didn't take photos, as we wanted to enjoy the meal, not Instagram it.

The food here was amazing and the service here was brilliant. We were served by giuliaro and Valentin and they were incredibly attentive and were on hand to help us.

Had a great experience, food and flavours were delish. We were sitting in the back area was a lovely vibe, quite loud but I think because there was a birthday party. Be careful as they offered more bread but added it to the bill (very cheap) but the bread was delish. Overall very good and I'd recommend and Valentin and Giuliano provided a lovely service.

Always amazing the service is efficient and the staff are lovely. The food is amazing. The cocktails are amazing too. And it has a good atmosphere. It's quieter inside the restaurant. Louder in the garden as there are larger groups of people there

Me and my partner came here for lunch and we both chose the 2 course lunch menu for £15.50 each. The amount of food you get for your money is fantastic. I had the lamb iskander and my partner had the chicken shish. Both meals were absolutely delicious and the meat was cooked to perfection with very generous portions. The service was great and the staff were very attentive. The outside of the building and the paint work is fantastic. I have to say it is the best looking restaurant in Rochester high street. All in all 5star. Next time we will try the main menu for an evening meal. Highly recommend.

Warm welcome, my hubby raved about the food, lovely cocktails with a great selection, complimentary birthday shots, friendly staff - an all round winner! Just moved to the area so will definitely be back often.

Went to Kaya Meze for Mother’s Day yesterday and it was fantastic! The food was lovely and the cocktails were amazing! Our waitress Chantelle was so friendly and accommodating and nothing was too much! Made the experience even more so special.

Had a last minute dinner here with my partner and the entire team went above and beyond even though it was just the two of us. The staff were really attentive without being pushy and they just seemed genuine in their approach in wanting you to feel happy and comfortable. The food was lovely, massive portions but really tasty. As someone with gluten and dairy allergies I normally feel disappointed with salads but this one was so flavourful and filling. The decor is really fancy, you don’t feel like you’re in Rochester High Street at all I am going to come again for a bottomless brunch with the girls!!!

A great place in the heart of Rochester. Can't fault this place at all, service is very prompt and professional, menu selection is great and lots of drink including cocktail to choose from! I especially recommend the hot starter meze platter which I shared with my partner. The dolma here is great to ! The owner took his time to come and speak to us letting us know about the outside terrace in the summer months which is available for booking. The baklava is homemade and very tasty and we were also given a complementary shot. Overall I would definitely return. Portion size is very generous and the staff can't do enough to help you. We went on a Monday and it was fairly quiet, I can imagine being a very popular place that it will get quite busy at peak times but don't let that put you off, be sure to visit and you will not leave disappointed. I really had a nice time here. I like that there is parking close by and the restaurant is just a few minutes walk from the car park. It was very easy to locate the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and receptive. The interior looked really nice, good lighting. I think the orders were timely, didn't have to wait forever to have my food served. The meat was sooooo tasty, and tasted really fresh. The cocktail drinks were spot on. I think the prices were fair as well. Will definitely be going back

Very quick service, hostess was very polite. Food was DELICIOUS I had the Chicken Shish and the meat was so well seasoned and juicy the rice was very well cooked. The drinks were very fruity and tasty. The espresso martini was very creamy and smooth and the cocoa powder added a nice touch. Also all the employees were very sweet and charming.

firstly let me say I wish I came here sooner wowww what a resturant the decor was absolutely stunning erkan could not of been more helpful the bar man was a genius with the cocktails and the food was absolutely amazing and will be going back for valentines day and even after that 10 out of 10 for me 👌🏿I did take videos but can not upload them but take my word for it people getyourself down there

Literally the best lamb I have ever had. Moist and tender, so juicy and tasty. Would definitely recommend the Lamb Shish. Great service too.

Last week on Wednesday, New Years Eve lunchtime, my son, daughter in law and grandson, invited me to join them for lunch at your restaurant. The welcome from your staff was so friendly and the decor excellent. Although you were really busy prepping for the New Year’s Eve celebrations, nothing was too much trouble. The Service and food were excellent, cocktails superb and I can honestly say it was one of the best lunches I’ve experienced, for a very long time. Thank you. I thoroughly recommend your restaurant. Went to this restaurant last night to celebrate a birthday, we were a table of 10 and couldn't fault any part of the evening, the food was absolutely delicious and plenty of it, the service was amazing, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Been a few time over the past year and have always been welcomed by their friendly staff. Food is unreal, atmosphere is great and the staff cater you well. Highly recommend if you are in the area and fancy a little meal, or even a more lively night out meal. The cocktails are the best!

Stunning restaurant with amazing staff and the best food in Medway! The guys here looked after us all extremely well and made sure we felt catered for and welcome. Went for Christmas meal with work colleagues as place was booked. Very crowded. My chosen main meal was chicken casserole, which came already very late and it was without rice and salad. After finishing the meal we were asked to leave the place. Not re commending

They managed to fit us in without a booking on a busy Saturday night, letting us know we would only have an hour but that was perfect for us. The food and service was really great. I just had a chicken shish but the flavours were amazing, including the side salad. I’ve been craving it ever since, will definitely be back again.

To start, the service was appalling, they didn’t have any drinks and you could only drink what they have for you 😂. Food was simply okay at best but it came before the drinks and the waiter was in NO rush to fix this. Eventually saying all they had was corona and giving our table odd looks. It was clear that they had no interest in providing a good service and the entire experience was a lesson in frustration. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who values a good service, save your time and go somewhere else. Abysmal, to say the least, ruined what should have been a lovely Christmas evening. I am not happy

Great food, great vibes, love the decor. Our favorite is sitting out in the glasshouse at the back. It's beautiful in there. The manager Esi is always so welcoming and helpful always able to solve any issues. There was 14 of us and all of us got out food no problems

We chose Kaya Meze Bar for our wedding dinner, and overall, it was a lovely experience. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with a great atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly, especially the female waitresses, who were attentive and kind throughout the evening. The food was absolutely delicious—everything we tried had amazing flavors, and our guests were impressed. However, the timing of the service left something to be desired. We were a party of 22, and while we understand the challenges of serving a large group, it took a bit longer than expected for the food to arrive. Unfortunately, not everyone received their meals at the same time, which led to some awkward moments where some guests were finishing their meals while others hadn’t even been served yet. That being said, the manager was very apologetic and accommodating, which we appreciated. If the food had all arrived together, it would have made the experience feel seamless and truly amazing. Thanks again to the team at Kaya Meze Bar for their hospitality!

Visited with my family. Needed to use the baby change. Not the best experience as it was in the middle of the staircase and had a draft. Light is going off every 10secs so impossible for one person to change the nappies! Food is good and it is freshly cooked! The waiters were kind and happy to help with anything.

First time for me and second for my husband. Starter was really nice but my main was ok, nothing special. I was ordering king prawn something but they didn’t have delivery so I have prawn starter, and was order for 2x for my main, but they give me 3x instead. But unfortunately is not for my liking. It’s not their fault just not for me I guess

The food was absolutely fantastic and well presented. We ordered the hot meze and portions were of a good size. For the mains, we ordered the lamb and chicken, which was very moist and well flavoured. What really topped of our visit was the lady that served us. Gigi was very attentive to all our needs and was very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be returning.

A very warm welcome by the staff. My wife and I had lunch from the lunch menu (£15.99) for 2 courses. Absolutely delicious food. We'll presented, but for us, the quantity was far too much....quality was excellent. Definitely recommend this restaurant but be warned.....huge amount of food!!!!

Girls night out, we've been couple of times before been great , this time complete shambles from start to finish. We arrived few mins after booked time had to wait a bit for table. Drinks ordered some arrived but no prosecco & had to ask for glasses for jug of water. After 20mins queried prosecco not arrived still not arrived 10mins later & told think weve run out. We then ordered bottle of pinot grigio after further 10mins prosecco arrived! Starters came probably at least 50mins after ordering had to ask for knives & forks as none forthcoming! Told mains ready as soon as we finished starters......ok....then no it was another tables mains.....mains were then long time coming....served in dribs & drabs & then nothing for 1 person. Chased missing meal twice then friend said no forget it everyone's nearly finished now, take off bill...course then it arrived but agreed not to charge. We complained further to waitress & manager came over. His attitude was terrible no real apology/empathy just excuses, wanted to give us all free shots, no were not all drinking and don't want shots anyway, he agreed to take prosecco off bill. Kept saying are you happy now, will you come back (no not happy spoilt evening & no won't be back). He then told off waitress in our view/earshot, very unprofessional. Its a real shame as food is very good but clearly not enough staff/business not managed well.

Very slow service, took 20 minutes to order a drink, 30 minutes before starters were ordered. Main meal got mixed up and forgotten yet was still on the bill to be charged for. When asked for more prosecco for bottomless brunch was told no. Certain staff very argumentative! Music cut off at 6pm even though our 2 hour brunch hasn’t finished. Thoroughly disappointed

The food and cocktails were really nice, but we realised after that they had not taken our booking fee of the total at the end so they got an extra £30 out of us as well as service charge. I don’t know whether they ware seeing if we wouldn’t realise but of course we didn’t until we after we left. Very disappointing.

Had a birthday dinner at this lovely restaurant, total of 9 people including kids, wonderful place. Food is very tasty, different choices, helpful staff members, definitely will go back to enjoy some more nice dishes!

We were seated by a lovely waiter but did ask to such seats as it was quite busy and another man (possibly manager/owner) made us feel that it was no problem at all. They moved us and another young woman asked us if we were ready to order, which we were. I asked if a dish could be slightly amended and the waitress said she wasn't sure but could find out. Another waitress came over and she, very aggressively said nothing could be changed. I accepted this and ordered something else from the menu. I had the lamb casserole and my friend had the portobello mushrooms. Mine was very bland and a little chewy. Not so bad that I sent it back though. The rice wasn't great either but it was edible. The small side salad was really lovely and tasty. The mushrooms were somewhat underwhelming too. No one asked how our meals were but I guess we had it better than the couple on the next table, who only got one main meal between them. Such a shame as the staff of the front part of the restaurant were so lovely, it might have been a better experience if they were all like that.

When we turned up we were originally told we couldn't be seated despite having a reservation, then waited over 90 minutes for food, it finally turned up as we were about to leave, tables seated after us were served an hour before we were, what we received I've had better with bigger portions for cheaper from my local.

Yummy food and reasonable portion sizes. Loads of staff who were a bit much at times and it did take a while for the mains after the starter. I had goats cheese marmalade to start which was basically breadcrumbed and deep fried goats cheese on a sea of strawberry jam. Slightly odd but it was tasty. Pide bread very good :)
