Tea for two served with teabags in cups. Coffee was awful. Breakfast baps were average. No sauce offered. Service was swift though and managed to get seats in the sun, albeit at the side of the road.

In the centre of Hugh Town, this is a very good place for a meal - either eat in (or outside on a sunny day) or for a take away. It serves a range of very good pasties - the traditional steak pasty is definitely recommended at £5 for a take out and was very filling. It also has an excellent range of home magde cakes

Ordered a crab sandwich and crispy chicken ciabatta plus two drinks for around £37. The chicken ciabatta was basically all bread and only two small chicken goujons in it which for £14.50 was extremely poor. The picture reflects half the ciabatta with half of the total amount of chicken. It was basically lots of bread with lots of salad and mayo, which tasted nice, that's certainly not the issue, it was the amount of chicken it had in it that was the issue for us. Similarly with the crab sandwich, it had a small amount of crab in the middle and was filled mainly with mayo so it didnt have the nice crab taste that was expected. This was a huge disappointment, as again price wise this was £17.50 so it was very very expensive for what it was. Overall for the price we were very let down and I feel like they need to either fill sandwiches properly or reduce the price. Other meals like the pasty came with chips and beans and looked very substantial. These two particular items were a let down and wouldn't make me return back.

Lovely location in town close to the boats. Stopped in for a greasy spoon. Left with full bellies and a face of smiles. Excellent staff and clean tables, would definitely recommend and will be coming here again.

This is a clean, very friendly and helpful cafe. It was so refreshing to be able to eat gluten free and vegan. I had the broccoli burger with chips which was delicious. The toilets were clean and beautifully decorated. Great dining experience!

Excellent and reasonably priced food. The main decider for me when I rate a restaurant is the quality of food relative to the prices. The Kavorna is a quaint café with a decent selection of family-friendly meals. For what you get, you can't complain about the prices at all. The value is excellent. My family went and ended up eating a hearty lunch for around £15 each including drinks!

Ate here twice on recent holiday, breakfast and also lunch. Very friendly, welcoming staff. The lighter breakfasts were perfect, their Cornish pasties delicious. They also have tasteful picture and gifts for sale at reasonable cost. Very popular and deservedly so.

Best breakfast I found, I tried a few while on the Island. Wonderful Full English. I had the Vegan Full English with an egg, I’m not Vegan myself but I’m not a fan of pork sausage or bacon in the morning (I’m weird I know), so I usually just go Vegetarian for breakfast. I went there for a second time and got the same but this time with an extra two hash browns. I had done and was about to do loads of walking, so I felt it was acceptable! Definitely head here for some breakfast.

Twice visited for breakfast during our 17 night stay and both times the full English was excellent as usual. Staff & service very friendly. Highly recommend.

Lovely toasted sandwiches and cakes. We ate lunch one day and had cake and coffee another. Everything tasted delicious and freshly made. Lovely little place very popular. Sells local crafts too… a bonus.

Decent enough cooked breakfast stop. Asking for white bread for the breakfast roll led to extensive confusion and the wrong order. Staff quite sassy on both our visits. Wouldn’t want to sit at any of the tables near the toilets.

This cafe is very convenient near the quay . Plenty of seating inside , very friendly staff and lovely food.

Visited 4 times in 11 day trip, excellent staff, good fresh food, normally quite busy especially after 12.15 when ferry arrives!! Recommend the daily specials especially if crab is on menu. Has fresh water available from trolley on side + good loo's

This cafe is like a tardis, there is much more room inside than there looks. Enjoyed freshly made Cornish pasties for lunch which were tasty and arrived quickly. Good sized menu with something for everyone.

Excellent place for lunch - we loved the burgers, in particular the Falafel Burger which was really excellent. Nice staff.

We had lunch here once and coffee and cake once. The service is very good and the food is delicious. We had the spiced corn chowder which was quite spicy but really good. This place is also dog friendly. Very clean and had an inviting aroma of good food, not stale chip fat. Very well placed in the centre of Hugh Town. If you want to pay by card, you may have to wait a while for the gizmo to work!

Had a couple of breakfasts here during a short trip to the lovely islands. Does what it says on the tin, a damn fine breakfast. Bit of a wait for food, but they are busy! Pleasant staff, great service, good food, and sparkly clean loos!

Rude staff & overpriced food! One waitress was rude to me twice, won’t give her the chance to be rude again so definitely not returning here!

Had coffee and cake a couple of times and then returned for lunch. Great choice of cakes and the fish and chips was very good. The staff were brilliant! Friendly and happy to help us plan one of our days out. Will certainly return next...

We have visited Scilly many times during the past 35 years. Walking past the Kavorna we were amazed at the high prices eg £10 for a bit of mackerel pate on a ciabatta. Dreadful rip off of both locals and tourists.

First stop of the ferry, staff were very friendly, the food and drink were nice. Just be careful because the lunch service stops at 3pm. Well worth stopping by for a quick refreshment.

Excellent service from a friendly hard working team. Ate hear several times during our stay and couldn't fault the food or service.

We had four takeaway burgers. They were burned. Why were they allowed to leave the kitchen, the chef must have known? Really disappointing food from what had been a family favourite.

It's a cafe and it does what it says on the tin. Good quality coffee, tasty pasty, friendly service, fair prices, wide choice. Avoid sitting near the toilet - it seems popular with passing tourists.

Conveniently placed, with good range of drinks,light meals and cakes. Our coffee was first class, as were our pasties and cakes. Service was friendly and efficient, prices are competitive. Plenty of seating inside, and limited seating outside at the front.

Stopped off here on a sunny Thursday afternoon, mug of tea and a very delicious Cornish pastie, sat outside in the sun. Plenty of room inside , highly recommended.

Great to have Kavorna back open. Interesting menu cooked and served well. A lovely spot right on the high street. They have clearly made an effort to offer a more interesting range of dishes than most. Throughly recommend.

We were so pleased when the Kavorna opened. Good bacon/sausage tea cakes that surpassed the other diners. On the downside very busy and a bit chaotic however early in the season. It would be nice if somewhere on the island did a full English breakfast...

Had a few minute wait for a table to become available as we was a party of 5, but wasn’t waiting for long. Staff were polite and friendly, apologetic for the wait on the table. Food was really good and piping hot. Loads of cheese...

We had a lovely coffee and toasted tea cakes at Kavorna one day and take away sandwiches another, which were delicious. The sandwiches were tuna mayonnaise and a hummus with avocado. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice cafe in the middle of Hugh Town.

Breakfast was good but they weren't willing to give you an extra sausage if you didn't like bacon. Also one of the taller younger waitresses who worked every day was not very friendly.

Very busy, but if you wait where shown, you;ll feek safe and looked after. Only had lunch, but it was hot and tasty. The staff behind the counter, really work well together, very organised in such a busy setting.

We ate here twice on our holiday in the Isles of Scilly and had a lovely experience. The staff were friendly and welcomed us for dinner both evenings. The food was very tasty, we had the king-prawn scampi lettuce taco special which was delicious! Very relaxed atmosphere, a good choice of food and drinks and perfect for families.

Had a great family full English breakfast/ lunch with great service and attention to the needs of a 3 year old. We were not hurried and felt relaxed.

Food was good however the service was appalling, it was such an effort for them to make a sandwich for me. Just rude and unfriendly staff would not return again.

We visited Isle of Scilly for the first time and went to this cafe for lunch. The soup and the sandwiches that we were served were bland and the bread was soggy. Also, the waitress was so rude when we ordered for the ice cream. Very polite to the white customers ahead of us however rude behaviour towards people of colour. People need to learn customer service before they open up restaurants and cafes. We have come to visit and such behaviour will deter future visits.

Visited for cream tea delicious. Staff very helpful and quickservice. We had to wait fora table and were shown to a seat and we were very quickly seated table and chairs were clean

Great breakfast and vegan rolls defiantly beat Greggs hands down. Friendly staff and yes they do get busy but one thing you learn with island life is you can't be in a rush. Can't wait to go back this September.

The staff here are wonderful , always cheery and happy to help . All wear masks and sterilise almost everything , our table and menus etc . We felt very safe . Had breakfast , lunch and dinner on different days . All amazing . Best Crab sandwich on the island ( all white meat) .

This was the best meal we have had on St. Mary’s staff excellent, meal lovely, would highly recommend you book here as everywhere booked up till mid to end of August but managed to get a table at this evening Bistro booked immediately again. As stated best meal we have had in 5 days.

The food here is generally good but I was disappointed with the drinks. For example, the milkshakes are made with syrup (I prefer actual bananas in my milkshake - even if frozen to reduce waste).

A lovely little cafe perfect for breakfast to fuel you for a busy day on the scillies, ate here on numerous occasions throughout our stay and had takeaway on the final morning, friendly and attentive staff and yummy food, good value for money!

The cafe offers food throughout the day and Monday to Friday in peak season you can book an evening meal. All the food is delicious, with a great selection. Food arrives promptly but you don't feel rushed. Lovely atmosphere, dogs welcome.

Faced with a rather complex serving system to negotiate, I attempted, already masked, to take a quick look at the cakes on offer at the counter. The waitress bellowed rather than indicated that I must join the queue upon which I protested that I must be allowed to see the cakes. Cake was dry. Dreadful service all round. Avoid this place at all costs if you want a relaxing time in Hugh Town.

Excellent tasty food served by wonderful friendly staff. The daytime menu has a wide selection of food and was always very well presented and very fresh .We also booked for the evening menu which I cannot recommend highly enough. Again the staff were exceptional in every way and the food was delicious!Would definitely recommend a visit.

Having waited a year to go back to St Mary’s for ‘the best milkshakes ever’ we returned with our 3 children who were not disappointed! Our evening meal last night was perfect. Booking was easy, food excellent and the lovely staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. Highly recommend this place, especially in such difficult times for hospitality….you’re doing a great job!

On a busy day we queued 10 minutes for a vacant table inside. Orders were taken at the counter from a comprehensive lunchtime menu with hot options as well as sandwiches and cakes. We enjoyed a crab sandwich on granary, a little expensive at £11, and a steak pasty with chips at £7.25. The wide cake selection, however, didn't look as tempting as other premises on the Scillies. Service was quick and efficient.

Found a table outside and ordered inside. We were waiting a long time for food and when I asked if we had been forgotten I was told the food was only just ready as it was cooked fresh. It may have been cooked fresh but I could see into the kitchen that the food had been sitting waiting waitress service for at least 10 minutes, clearly we had been forgotten about. When the food arrived it was nice but we were not asked how we were getting on. Good food but service could be a lot better, the restaurant wasn’t even that busy at the time.

We had our first lunch here very nice, the lady that took our order and explained what to do due to Covid and took our orders for lattes when we went into town was always cheerful and friendly even though they were very busy and rushed off there feet.

We ate here twice during our week in St Mary's - once for a quick lunch, and later in the week to treat ourselves to a cream tea before leaving Cornwall. Both were really nice, tasty and served reasonably promptly. We were eating outside, due to Covid, but there was still a nice atmosphere between the tables, and the staff were friendly and professional. All in all, we would recommend if in St Mary's

We stopped at Kavorna Cafe for a light lunch. There was a varied menu and some specialised items available. We chose the pasties which were piping hot and delicious. Kavorna Cafe was quite busy when we visited and despite Covid restrictions the service was quite slick.

Best dinner in St Mary's. Good quality tasty food, really nicely cooked and served by friendly staff.

Came here 3 times during our stay at St. Mary’s. Excellent food and very friendly atmosphere. The sandwiches and cakes are lovely- especially the coronation chicken and fish finger sandwich! Shame is not open on Sunday and shuts mid afternoon daily.

Lovely lunch, love the coleslaw served with the sandwiches, prompt serving and cheerful staff, would recommend a visit.

Disappointed with the uncooked pasty and very dry sausage roll. I know its a small island but it was not great.

Stopped for lunch straight off the boat. It was very busy so we sat outside. The pasty and the homemade soup were delicious and the staff friendly.

We arrived on time for the table we had booked early in the morning. We were kept waiting for 15 minutes and then told there wasn’t a table ready for us so we were eventually given a table away from the main restaurant. We didn’t feel that the food was good value for money, the waiter kept coming back to our table as he had got confused with our order. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this cafe which tries to make itself an upmarket restaurant in the evenings.

We both chose different fish dishes from the specials board. These were delicious. We went back later in the week for tea and cake which was also excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful on both occasions. We would definitely recommend a visit to anyone on St Mary's.

We had a really good evening meal; great mussels and top quality crab salad. Pasties are good and the cakes and coffee are divine. Staff very friendly and service was first class. Would be happy to eat there every day; lots of choice.

Great cafe / bistro :) visited here for tea and cake several times while on Scilly and once in the evening. Our evening meal was the best of our holiday. We had lovely fresh fish and a seafood pasta dish. They were cooked beautifully and were generous portions. Thank you!

We understand this popular cafe is opening evenings to help during Covid-19 restrictions. Whilst the fish dishes for our party were cooked well, the mussels were overdone and the creme brûlée curdled. Comparing our experience to others who had attended makes us wonder if we were simply a little unlucky ,as we thought service was wonderful and Covid precautions carefully done.

We called in at Kavorna for 2 lunches during our recent holiday. The food was excellent value, nicely cooked and well presented. The staff were very efficient, helpful and friendly. Kavorna does not necessarily conform easily to COVID measures but the management and staff have coped admirably and we felt very safe. Thank you.

Given the weird times of Covid these guys really did it well, felt safe, comfortable and welcome. The ladies out front were friendly, fun and efficient. Cakes were beautiful coffee lovely. A brilliant experience.

Lange Schlangen zum take away. Nach kurzer Wartezeit gings zum Tisch . Corona Maßnahmen wurden super eingehalten. Salate und Suppen waren super und frisch. Sehr schneller und netter Service. Nach der Ankunft in Hugh Town hat uns dieses Restaurant gerettet.

We ate in many restaurants while on Scilly . The Kavorna was the only one to ask for our tract and trace details . They sterilised the menus , salt and pepper shakers . The staff are very friendly and the food is always value for money . We had dinners ( advised to book) . Changes each night . Afternoon cream tea outside and watched the world go by .

Staff very attentive.However food not value for money. 2 skinny sardines at £7.50. Seafood linguini with not much seafood in it. White wine was Barefoot at £19.50 a bottle! Wouldn’t have chosen this wine had we have known! An air of complacency as very little competition in Hugh Town

We had just arrived on the island of St Mary’s at lunch time and feeling rather peckish.We decided to try Kavorna cafe and enjoyed Cornish pasties and mugs of tea. A good selection of hot and cold food on offer plus some yummy looking cakes.Social distancing was professionally observed.

We booked this restaurant for an evening meal as a couple. The food and service, let alone the menu was excellent and we can't rate this establishment highly enough. On the evening of our meal they had lobster specials which we both ordered, and they certainly didn't disappoint.

Ate dinner here two nights during our stay on St Mary's. Food was fresh, tasty and well presented.Service was very good the first evening, slightly less so the second evening when they were busier.We were sat very close to the toilets on the second evening which we didn't enjoy at all but there were no other tables available. As a result we didn't stay for dessert.

Basic but lovely food, good atmosphere and felt very safe in current circumstances, drinks were also lovely.

Stopped here as our first lunch getting off the ferry.service was quick and friendly. Food excellent.crab sandwich and a tuna sandwich both delicious. Be careful I am tall and the ceiling was a bit low. Really worth trying for lunch.

This was my go to place for light snacks on the way to boat trips. The sausage rolls were good but their Cornish pasty is legendary!

This year, the Cafè has stayed open late, to give visitors the opportunity to try other foods. All places on the island do fish, burgers - but the Cafè does home made soup, Risotto, Thai curry, & other dishes other places do not do - & not everything is with chips!! I ate here 2 nights the week I was here. Really tasty food, cooked fresh - but my advice is to make sure you book a day in advance.

Stopped here for lunch after arriving on the ferry. Very friendly staff and a lovely fisherman’s lunch, my kids really enjoyed their food too! Well worth a visit

Last time we visited St Mary's the Kavorna had stopped offering an evening menu. Thankfully, they are back serving evening meals. They have a great set up internally - with screens between tables; so very safe dining. The menu is really great with some additional specials every day. I plumped for an everyday stir fry - which was anything but. Super tasty and superb value. Highly recommend but you need to book

Drawn in by their registration on the gov UK website for eat out to help out was surprised when paying our bill the staff said they didn’t do this at lunchtimes. Really miffed to later check the gov UK guidance for premises to find this is not within the rules. We ate pudding due to eat out and I feel I’ve been had. Shame as staff working really hard on a fairly busy bank holiday Monday (31st) and tasty crab salad.
