This popular seafront bakery has changed since our first visit. There are less tables inside but the menu choices seemed larger and some of them are rather unusual. This is not really a place for full meals, but if you are after a pie/pasty type of lunch or some tasty cake with a drink, this is the place for you.

We decided to stop for a coffee; there were no customers, which in hindsight could have been telling. There was a wonderful array of cakes and pastries inside, but we just wanted coffees. I ordered a latte and a cappuccino, and was asked if I wanted chocolate on my cappuccino. So far so good. The bill came to £8.70, which was a bit of a shock, although in fairness I did have oat milk, which may have had a surcharge. The latte was bought out first, and my cappuccino a few minutes later, at which point I was told that the frother wasn’t working, so my drink was unfrothed. And there was no chocolate on it. So just a small white coffee then for around £4.35! No apology, nor offer of any refund; and did he not know when he took my order that he was unable to make my drink? If he discovered that after taking my order he should have come and offered me an alternative. I’m very sad because the cafe looks nice, and I would have had cake on another occasion, but I’m afraid that I feel cheated and will be taking my custom to other places, from which there are many to choose.

Had 2 flat whites cost £8 Came in Lavazzo mugs It didn’t taste of ground coffee, It had that sweet taste of a coffee pod machine Very artificial and tasteless Didn’t hear any coffee shop usual noises and it was out very quick. Pity Won’t stop there again We are local and fancied a change

I visit Kathy’s at least 3 times a week at lunchtime for a tea/coffee and often one of their gorgeous hot pastries. The food choice is amazing and the staff are more than first class, always smiling, always chatty and very professional. Situated in a prime location on the seafront, as the weather improves this is the place to sit outside and take in the atmosphere. Top Place 👌

Wonderfully cozy, Kathy and Tracy and all the rest of the staff are friendly, and the options for breakfast sandwiches is immense and good value. It’d cost just as much getting a Maccies breakfast and it’d taste nowhere near as good. The selection of savoury and sweet pastries and cakes is always tempting. It’s lovely having them here in Lee

Stopped at Kathy’s a few times over the last few years whilst walking the dog. Had enjoyed their fresh egg mayo sandwiches and flat whites and the occasional cheeky cake. We went today and I’m not sure if there has been a change in ownership or what but we won’t be going back. Firstly the tables were dirty and had to ask for someone to clean them. Sounds fine except the staff came back out and started dumping our order on the dirty table and then came back to wipe it. We had to gather all the food and drink up on our knees, not ideal but it was ok I suppose at the time. Girls didn’t seem trained in anything. Could hear them coming out having to re ask what people ordered because they hadn’t written it down and these people had been sat for ages. Then unfortunately the flat white tasted like something from a klic machine, served in a disposable cup and the veggie sausage in my bap tasted like it had been piped out of a piping bag into sausage shapes and placed in roll. Cold, anaemic and mushy, I couldn’t eat it but the queue was so big we couldn’t even think about going back inside to complain.

We have visited Lee many times now but had never darkened the door of Kathy's Bakery before, so we thought we would give it a try for lunch. It was a fine weekend day and a busy one for the town; even so we managed to find a table 'inside'. There was a huge selection of cakes to choose from but we started with a sandwich each; these came with a salad and were nicely prepared. The fabulous dessert selection just had to be sampled and whilst I chose just a scone & butter, my partner had some very nice cake. Be aware that the 'kitchen' here closes around 2pm but there are no signs to advise you, so if you want lunch make sure you arrive before then. There are no customer toilets here but there are public ones across the road.

The crab salad was a huge disappointment. We suspect chopped crab sticks. All masked in mayo. The large chopped salad was bare. No dressing of any sort...all they could offer was malt vinegar. They use iceberg lettuce too. And, surprisingly since they sell so much seafood, not a lemon in the house. It would be nice if they upped their game but it's probably good enough for the locals. We watched starlings eating off a plate on an outside table for 30 mins, and a stale discarded banana skin on the shopfront inside window cill for longer. Plenty of staff...just need to be more professional.

Ordered a crab sandwich, expecting (for the price) proper crab, but no, what I got was cheap ‘seafood’ sticks that you can buy in any supermarket for £1! If you’re advertising crab then you should be serving crab! Totally overpriced too!

I asked for 2 x coronation chicken and salad baps to take away. There followed a very strange discussion about whether I’d have to have a sandwich, as they were unsure if coronation chicken could go in a bap!!!! Anyway, eventually my two baps arrived in individual boxes with diced salad in a small tub and a handful of crisps. The baps were awful, more like the pre sliced baps you’d buy in a supermarket. The worst thing was the (so called) coronation chicken, my husband’s favourite go to! It’s was absolutely horrible. Very little chicken, shredded not chunks and non of the creamy texture you expect. Overloaded with curry powder and none of the sweetness you’d expect. I couldn’t eat mine. All this for the pricey sum of £14! I wouldn’t mind paying over the odds if you are getting high quality in return, but this was truly awful 😣

My wife and I visited Kathy's on Monday morning. My coffee was lukewarm. I asked for it to be reheated. My toasted teacake had the merest spread of butter, partially covering half the surface of teacake. We asked for more butter and received a small container of some spread - not butter. We shall not be going again. Poor quality but highish prices.

I have been here a few times whilst visiting my cousin who lives nearby. Great location opposite the sea front, good seating outside. Nice view of the Isle of Wight opposite , can people watch or chat to friendly fellow customers. The food is very good and the fresh bakery inside is excellent and very varied for such a small location. Great for meals after a long walk along the sea front. We have had baked potatoes with seafood, and lovely cakes and pastries. Good prices for quality food and great service. Very helpful especially when deciding what to have to take away !( Big selection for vegan also.) Will be back again and again. Highly recommended.

We were recommended this delightful café by two friends and so glad we visited. The staff are very polite and pleasant and nothing is too much for them. The selection of savaries and cakes for vegans are extensive (especially compared to many others establishments). We had a great time sitting outside and fully enjoying what we had odered. One of the best things about Kathy's is that we will return!

Visited the bakery late morning. Wonderful place. Had a cup of tea outside right by the beach in the sunshine. Service was fantastic after mentioning the tea was a little weak, they sorted it immediately. Staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Had the most enormous range of pastries and the cakes were WOW! Everything looked delicious. Will be coming back one afternoon to sample the cake. A must visit!

After a lovely day in Lee on Solent with friends, a nice cup of tea and a cake would top it off. Unfortunately, Kath tried to ruin our day. First issue, my friend went in to see if it was still open, it was 5-40pm, the girl cashing up was so rude, "YES< BUT NOTHING HOT" she scowled. The other member of staff said something about the machine only just being turned off and tea would be fine. The cashier continued to scowl. We should have just left. 4 cups of tea and 4 of the stalest cakes we've ever had, the seagulls enjoyed them more later we are told twice, we do close at 6pm. 2 of the staff were great, the cashier was horrible. Most unwelcoming and awful customer service. Literally, the whole experience left a bad taste. Never Again
