Came twice before Katherine’s closed down, visited here a few times over the years and was always impressed!

I booked afternoon tea for my daughters baby shower for 13 adults and 3 children , they made our time there so special the food was amazing , the service incredible, they even stayed open late as they could see we were enjoying our time so much , I carnt praise them enough ! Thank you all for Saturday ( 20/5/23) you are all amazing 🤩

All I can say is what a fantastic experience. We went for Birthday Afternoon Tea and we were delighted with the warm greeting we received from Nicola and Sarah, they both made such a fuss of us and the food was outstanding. A word of warning they certainly don’t skimp on portions so make sure you’re hungry! Everything we had was so fresh and tasty and the the staff made our visit very special from arrival to departure. If you do visit I would certainly suggest trying the wonderful milkshakes and also the amazing fresh homemade cakes, sooooo good we purchased extra to take home for family.

So today my daughter celebrated her 7th birthday at Katherine's, we ordered an afternoon tea and the staff were absolutely amazing! They worked hard to ensure scarlett and her friends had the best time! The food was beautiful as we're the cakes! They helped me put balloons up and were were so kind! They even commented on how well behaved the 11 children were and that in itself is just so lovely to hear! I would 100% recommend booking an afternoon tea party with them! You will not be dissapointed.

I booked to celebrate 3 birthdays for Saturday 4th March. Even though Katherine’s had already got a booking that afternoon they were still able to accommodate us. Well what a fabulous time we had! The food and service was outstanding and they were able to supply gluten free sandwiches, scones, quiche and cake (plus a candle)together with some dairy free items for 1 of our party. If you have a celebration coming up then I fully recommend and suggest Katherine’s. Nothing was too much for them. Thank you so much for making our time so enjoyable.

I go to Katherines multiple times and every time it’s spot on. It can be busy but that just proves how popular it is and frankly it’s worth the wait.

I've been a few times to Katherines now, and each time has been lovely. The staff are always cheerful and happy to help. It can be busy at times (this has never impacted the service for me), but I think this goes to shows how popular this place is. The food is always freshly prepared and with a range of cakes and milkshakes to suit everyones taste, what's not to love!

I’m reluctantly writing this review as I like to support local businesses, however this was my third time giving it a chance, and the third time I’ve received really terrible service. Each time I’ve been, it felt like I was an inconvenience to them, and that they couldn’t wait to get me out the door… Today, we visited at around 3.25pm when they close at 4pm, to be told there was no longer a seating option, they weren’t taking card and there were no gluten free as they had been cleared out. It was basically like they didn’t want or need my business. Even my children commented on how rude they were! The other times I’ve visited, there has never been a gluten free option (despite this being advertised), and I’ve always felt like they just want you out the door as fast as possible. It’s such a shame as it is a lovely place with lovely cakes, but they really do need to treat their customers better, and I won’t be returning again.

Went to Katherine's for afternoon tea for two for the start of my 20th anniversary weekend. Excellent food and drink & as usual great service from the staff. Made a great start to the weekend and whenever we go they always make you feel welcome even getting Blackcurrant jam in for a fussy old goat like myself. Well worth a visit.

Really disappointed as we’ve been before and everything had been fantastic. This time however we stood at the till waiting to order drinks etc and 4 staff behind the counter proceeded to ignore us for 10 minutes even though they each looked over and saw us there. In the end we just walked out. It’s a shame as we often walk past and drop in. We shan’t be visiting again.

Really disappointed with my visit today - I ordered a fruit scone which was served with butter not cream, I was only informed of the fact that there wasn’t cream when the scone was served to me after I had ordered and paid for it. The waitress did offer to refund me some money but I couldn’t understand as to why she let me order it in the first place surely she should have said sorry we have no cream. She continued to explain that because they were shut for the next few days that they wouldn’t be getting anymore due to this - despite the fact that when I left I saw her returning from the local shop with fresh milk that she had clearly just bought for the shop! The cupcake my partner had was so dry and stale, I won’t be returning in a rush that’s for sure.

I organised a hen party at Katherine’s at the service was out standing, they was very good with the communication, answered all my questions leading up to the day. They done the most amazing grazing table and decorations everyone commented how lovely it looked and tasted would definitely recommend .

Really very good coffee, good cakes, amazing milkshakes. We are quite proud to have such a great coffee shop in Chaddesden.

With so many excellent coffee/tea/cake shops in Derby Katherine's is well worth a visit so just go and enjoy one of the fabulous cakes on offer with a decent cup of coffee.

Came with my mum after hearing so many good reviews about it from friends. Really friendly staff, gorgeous gifts, and really yummy cakes and the milkshakes are amazing! Will be back very soon!

Needed to get something to eat on the hoof whilst visiting the local area. Katherine's proved to be ideal. Covid restrictions mean business is currently largely take away although they do also have a few small tables outside at the front of the premises. The cakes are wonderful. The boxed salads offer a healthy lunch option and lots of different produce to chose from. Efficient and friendly service.

I have just been to Katherins for my lunch. And can honestly say I had one of the best boxed salads. I picked everything to go inside, great value for money. Super Tasty!!! Thank you

Myself and my partner tried Katherine’s for the first time this Mother’s Day as a treat for our mums and they were certainly not disappointed!! They both absolutely loved every detail of the biscuits we ordered I’m sure they didn’t wait around to eat them All the girls at Katherine’s were very friendly and welcoming, pre ordering was a breeze! Today my daughter granddaughter and great granddaughter took me to katherines at Chaddesden lane We had a great time lovely atmosphere fantastic food very helpful it was a surprise early birthday tea because of lockdown the staff couldn’t have been more helpful nothing was too much trouble will definitely go there again. We’ve been to Katherine’s several times over the years. The food and drink has always been amazing and the staff are always extremely friendly and helpful. The cakes in particular are amazing and such large portions are provided. Although we haven’t been to every cafe in Derby, it’s hard to imagine that there could be one better than Katherine’s.

The venue is smart, clean and tastefully decorated with the feeling of a garden centre style coffee shop, with prices to match!.However, I booked a table 24 hours prior to arrival for 1;45pm, the shop closes at 3;00pm. On arrival, we were told nothing on the savoury menu was available, and only a few left over cakes were offered, this seemed very poor as they knew a party of 6 had booked, on booking it would have best to advise due to closing at 3 the menu would be vastly reduced , so allowing a fair opportunity to decide if we still wanted to visit, or even an offer to reserve six scones( for example) as an alternative,,,,instead we were greeted with little choice and an explanation/excuse they were shortly closing, keeping in mind this was a lunchtime on a Saturday!, so spoiling the whole experience as it was obvious they were cleaning up to close for 3:00 pm!....why then accept a booking of 6 people aware the choice options would be very poor!? although the young waitresses were polite and efficient , the owner/manager did not plan well and left 6 customers feeling uncomfortable with profits over customer satisfaction and experience! resulting in 6 customers never to return, nor to recommend to visit, at least NOT after 11:am!

Pre booked table for 2 adults and a 7 years old, who had previously seen a unicorn hot chocolate on the website, so no competition there.Wonderful fresh baked scones with jam and cream and tea for two.Unicorn hot chocolate and brownie for little one.Every bit as good as expected.. Service excellent,loads of thought gone into the top quality food, lots of Covid precautions in place and at a price that was worth every penny.This is not a cheap tacky place, its up there with the best.

Of all of the things I've missed during lockdown, being able to go to Katherine's to have catch ups with friends has been a major one. Although we aren't quite at the stage of sitting in personally, twice since lockdown eased I've been to get take out and the standard of goodies is just as excellent as I remember it. The cheese scones are beyond compare, the cake is creative and so delicious and there's always something new to try on every visit. Wonderful for a mid-week treat and they've made some absolutely wonderful occasions for us in the past. The staff are consistently helpful and friendly, it's like popping in on friends each and every time. It is the best thing to happen to the community in the whole time I've lived here and I hope they stay with us for many years to come! Thanks all!

I took my daughter to Katherine’s for unicorn afternoon tea and it was great. The sandwiches were clearly freshly made, the cakes were delicious and the milkshake was proclaimed to be “the best milkshake ever”!We were looked after by Hannah, who was very helpful and friendly. The other staff all seemed lovely too.Will definitely go again!

We booked in at Katherine’s for 12pm and were seated quickly, social distancing and cleanliness is definitely taken seriously with a one was system and screens which is very comforting! As the cafe was busier than expected on a Thursday afternoon our food took a little while longer than usual (we didn’t mind at all and it was hot and delicious) we were given free cakes for waiting which is just above and beyond! The prices are so reasonable, the menu is fab and the staff are all lovely! Would recommend to anyone! Plus my 5 year old daughter is still raving about her Cookie Monster shake!

Went for lunch with my daughter, we didn’t realise that we had to book but the staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough to find us a table. The food was amazing and the cake was to die for. Enough for the two of us to share

The prices are so exspensive but for the food it was amazing. High quality all the cakes are homemade as well as milkshakes . Katherine has done a amazing job . Setting area is good and keep it up love .

Very friendly. Great choice of drinks both hot and cold as well as amazing cakes. A real community coffee shop and you can buy lovely gifts as well.

Friendly staff , you feel welcome the moment you step through the door...the cakes are home baked and of the highest quality with enough variety to suit all tastes, if cake is not your thing they have scones , flapjacks biscuit and serve lovely food. I could not rate this place high enough .. if your local to derby/ Derbyshire it’s a place that must be visited.

I’ve just got home from bestie’s baby shower which I organised and honestly, we have had the best time! I’ve been working with Sarah from Katherine’s over the past couple of months organising it and she has been absolutely amazing. The baby shower was for 23 guests and I went for the Graze Table package. We had exclusive hire for 2hrs, Prosecco on arrival, Prosecco throughout the party, hot drink of our choice and the graze table... OMG there was so much food!!! Meats, cheeses, fruit, salad, dips, olives, crackers, crisps, quiche etc, then scones and lemon drizzle cake. Sarah gave us some takeaway bags to take bits home for our other halves lol. Sarah also arranged for me a balloon arch, BABY blocks, balloon clusters for the tables and a beautiful cake, all to match the colour theme. She was on hand throughout the 2hrs, but left us alone as well to enjoy ourselves. I cannot thank her enough for all her hard work, the group what’s-app chat has not stopped going since we left, everyone is raving about how good it was. Anyone looking to organise a baby shower, you need to have it here!!

Great choice of cakes, amazing kids milkshakes, beautiful venue but if a large party definitely book as we had to with our party of 6. Great to find a local business that is for the local people and more to enjoy. Fab service guys.

I recently had my daughters 1st Party here and I would highly recommend hiring out Katherine’s for events. Sarah helped me make the place look amazing and she was amazing helping me host the party. It was perfect value for money and the place is gorgeous! I go here for coffee on a regular basis and the drinks are to die for. Their cake selection and food is also stunning. Thank you Sarah and Katherine’s for making my daughters first birthday so magical!

We are regulars here because the coffee is good, the cakes are superb and the staff couldn't be nicer.

This coffee bar in the middle of a regular little suburb is well known to locals as one of the best, prettiest coffee shops around. Katherine did a lot of research to get a really great coffee as the basis of her drinks.

Been today to Katherine’s coffee shop had a lovely afternoon tea with a special friend a belated Xmas gift to her the service was exceptional the staff attentive and an overall lovely time was had, and a box to bring our cupcakes home thank you to you all ‍♀️

Just held my surprise Bridesmaid Reveal at Katherine’s yesterday. The team were fantastic! Nothing was too much trouble. I had plenty of contact leading up to the event and helped me set up the table with my balloons and gifts before everyone arrived. We even had a little photo shoot in front of the flower wall which was a lovely touch and provided a lot of entertainment for everyone in the room... sorry everyone! Cannot wait to return.... the food and cake was fab! Thank you to the whole team again for helping me pull off this reveal xxx

Just been to Katherines for a baby shower and everything was amazing. Lovely warm welcome and nothing too much trouble....sandwiches scones and cakes all beautiful...more than enough for everyone. Juice and either a hot drink including the amazing milkshakes were included too. Would highly recommend as the perfect venue to celebrate that special occasion.

Ordered a choc/orange sponge cake for my husbands birthday. This was ready to collect as agreed. The cake, filling and topping was absolutely delicious and clearly very freshly made. Best sponge cake we have ever bought. It went down a treat with all the guests. Would order again. Recommended.

A wonderful find tucked away in Chaddesden. Great place to meet friends or family to catch up and eat cake. We ordered from the speciality hot chocolate drinks, that looked more like desserts, and a green tea. To accompany the drinks we picked from the delicious cake selection and had a mint rocky road, a gluten free raspberry and white chocolate layer cake plus a toffee cake. All were delicious but my advice would be not to combine a chocolate drink with a rich cake like my husband did. He likes sweet things but even he couldn't cope with the sugar rush from the sweet overload.

As I live in local to Katherine’s , it is a family favourite amazing service and always delicious food so when I saw a competition Katherine’s was running on her Facebook page I entered ... just by liking & sharing her page I was picked as the lucky winner of this fantastic prize

Been meaning to visit for ages, and finally get chance to take my mum. Inside is lovely, with great gifts, nice and light and airy too. Food prep area is tiny, hence only one person making food, and a half hour wait. The surroundings are pleasant enough though. It would have been nice to get the drinks we ordered before the food, as that would have helped the wait for the food. Drinks wise, the cappachino was luke warm with no chocolate on the top and The tea need 2 teabags as it was very weak.

When you live close anyway you probably don't think of visiting...but this was a treat, and must be repeated, as the whole experience was really good. The interior is very well-organised, pleasing, relaxing, bright and fresh. Food very good, staff smiling, polite, helpful. Best of all, perhaps, was to have the owner at the front ensuring that people couldn't walk in a get a table, then come back to join a queue! Everywhere should do this - take note National Trust. Definitely be back - loved the quality of the tea, brie and bacon toastie with salad very good too, cake - serious overdose of chocolate!.

Visited here with my daughter for a coffee as we were passing. Wasn’t particularly expecting much but we were so pleasantly surprised we had a breakfast each too. Very nicely decorated with a relaxed vibe. Coffee was as good as I’ve had anywhere and the food was spot on. The menu isn’t huge and is, in the main vegetarian, so don’t go if you’re in the mood for bacon or sausage fry-up. The cakes looked amazing and I’m not generally a cake person! But we had to defer that pleasure for our next visit. Definitely recommended.

Thank you so much for helping make my mum's birthday extra special especially as I only rang this morning to book an afternoon tea. Whilst we were there we saw lots of lovely sandwiches and cakes delivered so we will be back to try other items off the menu. The array of gifts you sell look amazing too, will be back for some of those too.

Great little tearoom. A lot of variety and delicious food. Stopped on our way to Birmingham. Lovely sandwiches. Teapigs tea which is amazing. Lovely for kids. Specialise in unicorn themed milkshakes and treats!!

We legit absolutely love this place. The staff are always friendly, the cake is incredible and the cafe is clean! Everything is always presented well, and proper care is taken in their food! They also get themselves in charity events which is lovely to see on social media! How great to have an independent business to support rather than going to a big chain coffee shop where the produce is usually from costco!

Nice place ,clean, nice staff live local second time I’ve been to hope things have improved with food not the case. Jacket pot taken straight from freezer and microwaved to death sent beans back freezing. Stick to coffee and cakes and that’s the limit. Last time was homemade sausage roll but it was 2 inch long microwaved and never seen homemade.

Lovely afternoon tea at Katherine’s. Been a few times for cake and coffee and have to say it’s one of the best around Derby.

Been several times with friends and family. Can't fault the service from staff and presentation. Great selection of food and drink. Only downside is that you don't always know if they will have your favourite cake but then again they have a good variety and makes you try new things. Would definitely recommend especially the hot chocolate!

Buffet for about 30 people. Food quality was exceptional, far exceeded my expectation. Staff were amazing too, nothing too much trouble. I particularly enjoyed the quiche, the sandwiches and the clotted cream scones. 5 stars are well deserved for food and service.

Katherine organised a surprise breakfast for my wife. It was amazing. There were 9 of us in total and nothing was too much trouble. The continental platters were fresh, colourful and full of variety. The staff really could not do enough for us. This is one of the best small local businesses I have ever visited. Katherine is the best and what she did for us blew us away. If you are in the area visit this place and see for yourself the essence of local and family.

Called into this coffee shop today really friendly welcome great selection of cakes, snacks and light lunches. I had tea and a toasted tea cake and hubby had tea and Lemon Drizzle cake food came nicely presented and tasted divine. Will definitely be back again x

Just happened to be driving past so decided to have a pit stop. Lovely warm and friendly greeting with that all important smile from the staff and then the difficult decision of what to choose. Decided on one of the yummy looking scones and was not disappointed, Katherine's is well worth a visit.

Took my friend for a birthday treat as she loves unicorns. I mentioned to the ladies that it was one of my friends birthday. They came in with a candle in the cake and extra treats. Thank you so much it was super cute. A great service too. Definitely recommend.

This place is an absolute treasure and well worth a visit. The coffee and cake are one of the best I’ve ever tasted and so much choice. The staff are extremely friendly and the service is just brilliant. It’s a great place to go with family or to catch up with friends. If you’ve not already visited then you don’t know what you’re missing out on!! You will not be disappointed

Love Katherine’s, have visited a number of times since it first opened. Every time we visit we cannot fault it, the coffee, milkshakes, cake and other food we’ve had are all excellent. The staff are always very welcoming and friendly and seem to remember you each time you go in. Love that there’s more room now the back is properly opened up. Lovely selection of gifts and cards. I’m glad the business seems to be doing so well, it definitely deserves to with all it has to offer. Definitely a firm favourite to visit with both friends and family. Would highly recommend a visit if you’ve not been before, it’s worth a drive to get to.

Nice little cafe/gift shop. Good space, light & airy. They have cushions you can put on the chairs if you like & water on the side you can help yourself to. The cakes are lovely.

What a wonderful little coffee shop. The coffee was perfect and the cake selection was varied and absolutely delicious, served on a lovely platter and the portion was generous with an unexpected accompaniment of cream.

This is the second time of visiting Katherine’s coffee shop. The first time was for my birthday last month where my friends, partner and I all had a lovely time. Food was lovely and the table was decorated beautifully. Cake was amazing and huge!

Even though I live locally, I've only recently found this hidden gem. There is always a great selection of fresh cakes etc. Although I'm not Veg/Gluten Free, I think there are usually options to cater for all. I came with my sister after work one day for a cake and coffee, it was a lovely experience sitting in the back of the cafe.

my daughters treated me to coffee and cake.theyd been before but my husband and I hadnt and we werent disappointed.when we arrived we were made very welcome.theyd reserved a table for us and put twinkly gems and a mini blackboard saying happy birthday.on th table.when my cake came it was served on a heart shaped board and looked very pretty as well as tasting delicious.the grandchildren enjoyed special ice creams which went down a treat.they had lots of choice(they also serve meals which looked very nice).I would recommend it to anyone.I will definately be going back to try something else from their inviting menu.

I knew this Coffee Shop had opened but shamefully had never visited. That was put right last week when I visited with a friend who lives just a ten minute walk away. What a lovely place, the shop sells a selection of gift items and cards and then the Coffee Shop cakes, well, where to start. It was a very difficult decision to make, but we plumped for the Carrot, Blueberry and Pistachio cake along with a Flat White. All very delicious and filling. We sat outside (not the best view admittedly, but most welcome in the heat) This is a real find in an area in much need of a great pit stop.

Lovely selection of homemade cakes and drinks had a Reeces milkshake and twix cake and my daughter had twix cake and chocolate milkshake reasonable prices too

Start with a smile and a warm friendly greeting and you are on to a winner straight away and that is what you get here from all the staff. Scone and coffee went down a treat with great background music in a relaxed atmosphere and there is now seating outside, well worth a visit.

Recently visited with family as my wife recommended Katherines, not disappointed. Good selection of savoury and sweet items and very attentive serving staff, will definitely be back.

Staff are always as friendly as ever! Not too pricy, cakes are gorgeous and always have a good selection, they do the best hot chocolate and milkshakes! I always come here and will carry on coming.

Great cafe, bright, fresh and airy place to sit and chat. The most delicious cakes and light lunches, with perfect attention to detail. Even a cute little egg timer to time your brew! So handy to be local, love this place so much.

I went for afternoon tea with my Mum, Aunt and cousin for my cousins birthday. We had a lovely time. All the staff welcomed us and there was a lovely sign on the table plus glitter birthday bits too! We visited Katherine's for my birthday and it is not only a lovely place, the staff were also so friendly and welcoming. We had the Afternoon tea and couldn't recommend it highly enough, it was lovely. The sandwiches and cakes all looked and tasted amazing. The staff were all lovely we never felt rushed and made us feel comfortable throughout. I would highly recommend the afternoon tea and a visit here it was all just perfect. I booked a table for my daughters 18th birthday. When we arrived the table was decorated which was a lovely surprise. Katherine & her team made us feel so welcome & nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing & the unicorn milkshakes where a real hit with the kids. Thank you for making my daughters birthday so memorable.

My first visit here and it was for my daughters baby shower. When we arrived they had decorated the tables beautifully and the food was laid out in a mouth watering display of assorted sandwiches and cakes with scones , cream and strawberry jam

I have visited this cafe multiple times with family, friends and my partner and everytime had a delicious drink and cake. Prices seem to be a little high however has never put me off visiting again as the cakes are just so tasty and the back room so cosy yet modern.

We visit katherine's coffee shop regularly, staff are fantastic and always make you feel welcome and the cakes and coffees are georgous. Well worth a visit.

Had my daughters baby shower at Kathrine’s Gift and Coffee shop yesterday what can I say but amazing service they could not do enough to help cakes were gorgeous as was the hot drink served to us all - Kathrine and her staff go out off their way to help very friendly helping decorate the room perfectly they are amazing I would recommend anyone looking for a venue for private hire to book Kathrine’s - Thank you once again - perfect in every way xx

Definitely worth a visit to have one of their very own “unicorn hot chocolates” also good if you have children. Wide variety of hot drinks. Also a nice place to find a cute gift for someone. Recommend to anyone who likes coffee and cake catch ups.

I came here with my friend, after she had gone on about wanting to go for ages as she follows the Facebook page. We both had a slice of cake and a hot drink. My unicorn hot chocolate was amazing! The only reason this is 4* instead of 5, was due to the seating area. It was quite cold, and the decor is quite cold too. Food and drinkwise though, impeccable!

This place had some good reviews in the local paper so we thought we would give it a try. Place is really clean and the staff are lovely. I had a jacket with cheese which was excellent the boss said her hot chocolate was one of the best she had ever had. As far as the toilets go I'm glad I stand up the toilet seat looked very loose. I also couldn't find a way to dry my hands, maybe in too much of a rush!

Came here for lunch, really nice cakes, wide range of drinks and hot chocolate. The cakes all looked amazing, we got the Banoffee Loaf- which tasted really good. Will definitely come back again.

Brilliant little place to visit for a coffee & cake. Visited 3 times now and each time have left very impressed. Tried the Lattes, Unicorn hot chocolate and a selection of the cakes. My daughter aged 8 loves this place too and can’t get enough of the Unicorn hot chocolates & cupcakes. Couldn’t fault anything at Katherine’s. Everything from the food & drink, staff, cleanliness, prices and general atmosphere is brilliant. Would definitely recommend. Keep up the fab work and I look forward to future visits.
