Karls Golden Fry in South Tyneside

Pizza's were nice but the fish and fish cakes were genuinely the worst I've ever eaten in my entire life. Extremely dry and the batter was extremely thick and greasy, as if it had been refried with a second or third layers of batter. The thing was a weapon on a plate.

Food is normally lovely but the fish tonight was terrible. Really thick batter and didn’t seem cooked properly soggy on the bottom like the fish had been cooked again. Hardly any fish compared to batter.

disgusting isn't the word. I ordered fish bites, they where rock hard with three layers of batter on. kebab butty with garlic, bread bun was hard and the meat didn't taste fresh. no one ate it

One of the best pizzas I've ever tried, I really liked it, the restaurant is very clean and I would definitely buy from there again.

This week i had the worst fish & chips I’ve had in years. Chips soggy & falling apart. The ‘cod’ was literally 5mm thick & as you can see on the photo only slightly thicker than the fork!! Since when was cod the thickness of a piece of corrugated cardboard? It was overcooked to the point where it was like plastic - no flaky fish here - the whole thing was fused together in one lump & the batter was overcooked with a burnt taste. I can only guess that because the fish was so thin it should have been fried for less than half the usual time. As they served it up wrapped i didn't see it until i got home & by then it was too late.

Got 2 Donna wraps with chips and garlic and a Donna kebab with salad and garlic. But what I actually got was 2 Donna soggy wraps with mash and 2 litres of grease/oil with a hint of garlic. The Donna kebab was floating in a litre of grease/oil. Tossed the salad out for the hares and they tossed it back at me. Even our piglet casper turned he's snout up at it. Won't be back

I told the establishment due to my picky order that I was apologetic and wasn’t meaning to come across bras because I am pregnant; when my food was delivered early. I looked into the bag and written on top of the paper covering my food is a note “ Hope you have a very healthy and smooth pregnancy all the best xx” AWW! stop it; When I tell you, I snap chatted that so fast and closed it up separate just to cry for 30 minutes.. haha, my god… that is SO nice, thank you so much. I’ve put that on my social media my friends love it and send that admirations I don’t know it was that went the extra mile to do this; if it was a chef a delivery driver or a staff memeber but it made my day. I’ve left a review on Just Eat but couldn’t go into detail as I have here, I will definitely be ordering again and I have kept that and it will go into my memory box. Thank you very much again. I always order from here and have never had any issues. The food was awesome again tonight and arrived 10 minutes ahead of time. Only one little problem, was that I ordered Pepsi max and got regular Pepsi. Apart from that tiny, easy to make mistake, the food and service was quick, friendly and great quality! Thanks to everyone in Karl's Golden fry.

Best value around boldon colliery food was hot and pizza was beautiful.also not to forget delivery driver very polite.

Ordered from here and didn’t bring my food but happily took the money out my bank then when I’m ringing the shop no answer. How disgusting taking peoples money and not delivering will be in shop tomorrow for my money back! And never order from here again

I ordered a 12 inch pizza and when I opened the box it was a 10 inch. Rang shop to complain and was asked what size box it was in, I said a 12inch box with a 10 inch pizza Inside, was told if it's a 12 inch box it's a 12 inch pizza tried explaining that I measured it and it's a 10 inch, was told it had shrunk in the oven. What a joke. sending me another 10 inch pizza and when it came only 8.5 inch these pizzas keep shrinking Cost of living a takeaway is a luxury and expensive. I want what I pay for.. Definitely an issue with the size of the trays in this shop.

Pizza is great and the garlic bread with cheese was fantastic, really lovely taste and the pizza base was great. And the chips are thick, chunky and delicious.

This place is amazing. My car broke down near tile shed in sub zero temperatures. I was waiting over 5 hours for the RAC(it took over 7 in the end).The delivery driver kept checking on my welfare and then provided a meal and water to see me through. The food was great, BUT the thoughtfulness was amazing. Fantastic place, fantastic people - thank you

Picked up a hot and spicy 12" to take home and the chilli base was that over powering it was inedible. Rang back up and they were happy to replace and deliver free of charge. This is the definition of excellent customer service and would recommend this takeaway to anyone to try.

I have had many a pizza from Karl’s, normally I am very happy and prefer to order from this place over many others in south Tyneside - this most recent order was very disappointing. Pizza came with topping all over the box. What remained of the toppings all fell off as the pizza wasn’t cut correctly- sadly the best bit was the crust (very nicely cooked) as I say I usually very much enjoy pizzas from Karl’s but it has been massively rushed and substandard

Good quality food, decent portions.

Food was awful! The kebab had puddles on oil in the white paper. My pizza’s cheese slid off the pizza and was stuck to the side of the box! Chips were hard! Really expensive takeaway for the quality of food I just got delivered..all of it went in the bin!

I used to order from here a lot but moved house abit out the way. They popped up on just eat so thought I’d order again, and they didn’t disappoint. Best garlic. I’ve missed that garlic..

First time tried Carl's tonight I will definitely be trying it again with something different next time. Food was really nice also hot.

We ordered Offer 3 which includes a 12" pizza with any 3 toppings. Yet, when I select the 3 toppings, I'm finding I'm being charged an extra £1.50 per topping, adding an additional £4.50 to the cost of the order for something that is advertised as included in the deal. Other than that the food was a good as always and delivery was quick

Cheesey chips burn to hell uneatable sausage was the same not even the dog wanted it ...well over price 7.95 my pregnant wife was forming with it wouldn't use agen ...nice clean shop though that's it about it not worth the money at all ...where local like around the corner ..we will stick to Mary's much better and fair priced

I want to cry. This is the greatest meal I’ve had in my life, everything came warm and actually cooked. Had to ring up and ask for no batter on my sausage but 100% worth it, I love you guys. bit expensive but worth it

3/4 orders have been wrong, twice meaning a visit back to pickup missed items. This time I give up, I’ll order else where

Don't know what's happened to Karls like. We've gone back a few times after thinking just give them the benefit of the doubt, they must be busy... But the last 4 times we've ordered have been rubbish. Chips have gone downhill and don't bother asking for salt and vinegar because your notes are always ignored. Portion size of the kebab meat has been reduced dramatically on the garlic bread specials (however can't fault the taste of the meat). The sauce that you order, you never receive the right one that's if you even receive one at all. Not good service at all to be honest and another point when you phone your order in there is zero customer card protection as you read your card numbers out the staff repeat it back to you out loud for any customer in store to hear. Last straw for us unfortunately

Worth the wait. Absolutely beautiful, fish excellent, chips hot and batter gorgeous. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

45 mins late, my order came to £19.45 and driver tried to charge me £21.45. I showed him just eat order and he said I can show you the receipt. I told him I didn't care what was on his receipt this is what I ordered and closed my door

Good was very greasy . I couldn’t eat it , the whole order went in the bin . Would not recommend this to any one every item was full of grease

Kebab wrap was disgusting, the kebab meat was rock hard, dry and consisted of 80% salad and 20% leather-like meat. The sauce had just been put on all of the ridiculous amount of salad, as the meat was bone dry. It must of been tossed into the bag from the opposite side of the kitchen, it wasn't even wrapped and the tortilla was all split, absolutely vile and inedible. Avoid at all costs. Price is ridiculous as well as the food.

Perfect as usual. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Order from here alot and usually always 100% satisfactied. But when I ordered this time, I had ordered and paid for a 12 inch pizza . When it was delivered I received a 10inch pizza but they had still put it in a 12inch box. Wasn't the best pleased

Never had an issue with karls normally spot on till tonight, was on time but pizza was over cooked to the cheese was nearly burnt. Cheese on cheesey chips the same also. They sent a chicken burger instead of cheese burger which granted they came with correct one but that also was over cooked and cheese was attached to bun none on burger. Appreciate they sent right one out after calling them but all tonight's order was over cooked and not really enjoyable resulting most of it being binned. Very unusual for karls as i say normally spot on.

The chips were great. But the fish was encased in burnt hard brown batter. Very small amount of fish inside it I have to say. Obviously overfried. Why would anyone think that this was ok to send to a customer ?

Absolutely amazing food, super fresh, biggest kebab wrap I've ever seen! Deliver must have been 20 minutes if that, can't ask for it any quicker.

Fish and chips were very greasy . And due to the time scale between the order leaving the shop and actual delivery the food was not the hottest!! To take 25 mins to deliver from just over 2 mile .. well abysmal!!!

Margarita was burnt driver who came had a bad attitude just drive off when I said missing a bottle of pop Apart from that the other pizza was nice

Wasn't up to their usual standard tonight, not sure why if they were just too busy. Fish was pretty soggy on the bottom so stuck to the paper they put in the box. I know batter is going to be greasy but it was leaking out the bag and that bad it turned the bag see-through. Gutted as was really looking forward to it. Won't stop us from going but I hope it isn't like this the next time

Cold food. And the chicken was abysmal. Over cooked burnt chicken- it was literally black it was over fried… worst chicken I’ve ever tasted. I’m not even joking. Plus strange taste like oil you fry with needs changing. Waste of money that order

I ordered large curry sauce, when i opened the bag my food arrived in, the curry carton was empty and the curry was emptied all over the bag, i looked at the carton and the lid wasn’t put on properly.

All food was cold, pizza, fish and Donna meat very greasy. Alot of green chips.

Fish was over cooked and the batter was really hard, chips had been cooked more than once, we also ordered batter that came in a bag and was dripping in grease. Not the normal standard as we have been ordering from Karl's for a few years and the food has always been excellent.

Purchased 2 fish lots at a cost of £16.70, for Good Friday. Total waste of money. Fish was battered twice either to warm it, or to make it look bigger. Was very dry and inedible. Chips were cold and full of ends. All thrown in the bin. Very disappointed, would not recommend and will definitely not be ordering again. 😒

I’ve ordered twice from this place, and they’ve forgotten things both times. This time they forgot the garlic sauce for the kebab. Food and prices are both good, but I will never order delivery from here again.

Kebab parmo wasnt the best dissapointed really. Tray of kebab meat was unreal value for money,sorry wont be re ordering

Usually order from here at least once a week and had no issues until today. The chicken tikka kebab was fatty, chewy and inedible. Previously it was lovely so not sure why it’s changed but won’t order it again. Really disappointed.

Gorgeous fish and chips. I think we've just found a new favourite chippy.

Order from here all the time but very disappointed with the chicken tikka this time, they've changed it and the chicken was pretty much inedible, it was all slimy and gristly, such a shame as it's always been grilled tikka chunks. Rest of the food was nice as usual.

Everything was hot and the batter on the fish was crisp, not soggy at all. The fish was slightly over cooked but otherwise impressed.

Never normally have an issue but the last 2 times ive ordered a kebab naan bab ive been disappointed, the garlic breads have been burnt and just snapped instead of tare apart even with all the juices from the meat, disappointing
