Karafaki London in Enfield

We visited Karafaki for a casual Saturday night out. We mostly picked the venue because of the live music event they are organising every Fri/Sat and especially because we knew the singer who was performing that night. Upon arrival, the staff was friendly and as soon as we sat down the waiter informed us that we have TWO options: we EITHER order their set menu which included a mixed grill and some appetisers for £22 per person (!) OR we could order individually whatever we liked from the rest of the menu. The rest of the menu included four dips, four salads and four mains (no fries, no other appetisers). We had already eaten so we chose to order mostly drinks and two appetisers to accompany the drinks. As soon as we order that, the waiter told us that this is generally not acceptable as, as he said: the venue is a restaurant and we had to eat - apparently more and as it seemed he had a set price in mind which we were expected to pay, so he was not satisfied with what we chose to order-. Then he changed his initial statement and said that in days where they have their live events we are expected to order the £22 per person platter. I explained that no one had informed us about this when we called to make a table reservation and we proceeded with our initial order. Nevertheless, he decided to ''favour'' us and let us order what we actually wanted (crazy, right?). It turned out that we were lucky not to order the platter as even the appetisers we got were below mediocrity. Fries were stale and the tzatziki was everything but greek (just some below-average yoghurt mixed with few chunks of what looked like a cucumber). Along with our order, we were offered four pitas -definitely not greek but instead some sort of Arabic wrap- which was questionable for an alleged Greek restaurant. Of course, a 10% extra charge would be applied to our bill because of the live event. However, the menu posted on the exit mentioned that in the days of live events a 20% extra charge would be applied. We are not sure which of the two applies - who knows-. Cleanness-wise: Toilets were disgusting. Cutlery and tables looked clean. I will give all my credits to the singer Stavros Lambropoulos who was exceptional and made us feel like home. He was the only reason we did not leave immediately but instead stayed until the end of the event.

Great place for food and Greek music. The staff is really friendly and on Saturday there is live music

Authentic simple local Greek Taverna in the heart of Greek London providing some lively Traditional plesant Cretan wine , good meze , and delicious souvlaki No-frills but a friendly convivial atmosphere and a very accommodating patron would recommend

Disgusting!!! Booked a party of 15 for a vegetarians 50th birthday party guess what NO FISH ONLY MEAT. music to loud and food portions very small most people went hungry. I will NEVER set foot in there again
