Kappad South Indian Restaurant in Wycombe

This is possibly the best Indian food we have eaten…and we eat a lot! We cook curries from scratch at home and are usually somewhat disappointed with the flavours we experience when we eat out. Kappad is the absolute exception. The menu is varied with a good selection of vegetable main dishes. Flavours are fresh and distinct. The breads are unlike anything we’ve experience before. I’d highly recommend the paratha.

The experience at the restaurant was quite lovely. I went on for dinner with my friends as my friend suggested that place. The ambience is good and the staff is friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and very quick in delivery. There is a variety of food options . I would recommend the restaurant and give a 5 -star rating to them.

Good very good, the service the price the atmosphere was on top notch, I used go to Bombay palace and recently my friend recommended kappad I’m happy I came here.

I ordered a delivery from Kappad through Deliveroo, and the food was delivered quickly and with a smile by the driver. The only slight downside was that I had requested cutlery be provided, and it wasn't, but I used some from the hotel, so no big deal. The food itself - wow! So tasty and flavourful, and totally different from the usual Indian takeaway. I had the prawns ularthu for starter, which the menu says is "an ideal accompaniment for an alcoholic drink", and boy, was it ever. A seriously good choice. Main course was the Calicut Chicken Biriyani, which I was maybe expecting to be a little dull, but again, absolutely perfect spicing and flavouring, and the (large) chunks of chicken just fell apart. If for some reason I'm ever in High Wycombe again, the Kappad will be my first choice for food. I can't recommend it highly enough.

If you have not had excellent Indian food in the UK, then you must visit this restaurant. If you have not had South Indian food, then you must visit this restaurant. Everytime I visit I enjoy the food. My family and friends also enjoy this place. You will too. The staff are great too.

We had an amazing dinner time at Kappad Restaurant. The foods were excellent, we tasted variety of foods. Specially Meen pollichathu Kallappam and biryani amazing taste. One of the best place to enjoy South Indian food. We had seafood platter, chilli beef and lamb for starter with amazing beer. Followed by kappad specials lamb curry and high range chicken curry. With Kerala parata this dishes taste amazing. I definitely will go this place again.

This is the one of the best restaurant in HighWycombe. I dined here with my family celebrated my son‘s birthday. Get regular takeaways from Kappad, food always superb. All so tasty. Have eaten in the restaurant a few times as well although not for a while. Highly recommended, Kerlalan is different from your 'standard' Indian. Give it a go!

Lovely to come out for some Indian food that is not a normal run of the mill curry. Lovely ambience, fantastic service and the food so aromatic and flavoursome. The fish curry was gorgeous as was the lamb curry and the accompanying breads delicious too! Will return!

Good food is something one misses when one leaves one’s motherland. Having moved to the UK about 25 years ago, we are/were always on the lookout for authentic, good quality food from back home and being from south India, we were pleased when we discovered this delightful place in High Wycombe! As a Malayali (that is what people from the state of Kerala are called), I can tell you the food here is as good as it gets. We, as a family, have been visiting this charming restaurant for a while now and every time, we have come away with smiles on our faces. Not just eat-in, we get take-away food as well. Food: Now, if you were to ask me, what I like here, you ought to trust me when I say “everything.” I can honestly say I have eaten most of the food on the present menu and previous menus too. I especially love the appams and egg roast – some of you may find the roast a tad spicy, but trust me it is divine. Some of my favourites include prawns ularthu, adipoli kozhi, lamb black pepper fry, Mysore masala dosa, meen pollichathu, konju masala, beef peralan, koonu curry, Travancore okra, aviyal, chicken biriyani, lemon rice, ……the list goes on and on! Staff: The chefs are truly humble guys – we have met Silson and Lijo to personally complement them about their food. It is obvious that they are quite passionate about what they do. Service: Saravanan, Edward, Johnson, Pratima, Abin, Rosemol - have I named everyone? Excellent – all of them are polite, attentive and serve you with a smile. Top team. Would we come here again? YES, YES, YES. We come here regularly, if not every week, at least once in a fortnight. In fact, just the other day my wife and I had our lunch at Kappad and returned the same evening for supper! Do I need to say anymore? To summarise: Great food, relaxed atmosphere, excellent service. You will come back for more! Well done to you all at Kappad!

We have visited before but were impressed with the Xmas Special lunch at a very reasonable price…. It was Thali style with chicken and beef curries plus three veggie bowls and served with rice and paratha… it was all really tasty and filling… we even got a cracker each. The staff were attentive and friendly as usual… well worth a visit…

We went without a booking and there were a few vacant tables…. The waiters were helpful and welcoming…. We had the lunchtime thali and the curry of the day which was chicken…. Both were tasty and attractively served…. I love dosa and the paratha was superb… The price is great for lunch and we will return…

I was recommended this place recently by a friend and advised to book a table in advance. It was very refreshing to eat at an Indian restaurant where you don't recognise 90% of the menu. The menu is of South Indian origins. The staff were super friendly, guiding us through the menu helping us choose some fantastic dishes to suit our palate. If you are near High Wycombe and want really good tradional Indian food, you need look no further. I would say its slightly more expensive than other Indian restaurants in the area but we'll worth the extra couple of quid.

Tried a couple of Indian restaurants in High Wycombe now but thought we would give this one a go and OH MY GOODNESS I AM SO GLAD WE DID! It was absolutely phenomenal, we will undoubtedly go again. Honestly probably one of the nicest, if not THE nicest Indian curry houses I have ever been to. The food was so so fresh, not greasy and really flavourful, even the popadoms were flavourful! It's a little bit different to the usual Indian place as it's South Indian food but it really is just amazing, great food choices such as the dosa or the appam which I've never had before, both really yummy.Really wonderful, would recommend, an absolute must try in my opinion.

What a pleasant experience it turned out to be!We had dinner at Kappad on Saturday evening. We ordered Dosa, Appaam and Fish curry and rice. All brought to our table by a smiling waiter in no time.The food was authentic south Indian cuisine, which we also sampled while we were in Cochin, .many years ago. We were not disappointed. We thoroughly recommend this restaurant for anyone who is keen to eat authentic South Indian food.

I have visited the restaurant along with my family we have ordered couple of curries kerala porotta and mutton biriyaniall of them taste like same as we eat from back in keralaStaff were providing personalised service. All in all we felt a homely atmospherewe will definitely go back to Kappad whenever we go to that side

What an amazing find! The food here is nothing like any other Indian restaurant in the area. Authentic south indian cooking with fresh ingredients. Went there for my birthday with the family and the staff could not be more helpful with the menu choices. Two types of dhosa’s were both very good. Veg and Meat Thali were both exceptional but my favourite was from the specials menu as recommended by our waiter was the fish and green mango curry. You have to eat here!

We booked this online not really knowing what to expect but we were so glad that we decided to eat here. South Indian food which is slightly different but omg so tasty and amazing. We went for the masala dosa to share as really wanted to try one and as you can see in my pictures it was massive and very tasty. We then went for the 3 course feast which was soup to start then 7 different curries with rice and bread then a creamy dessert which wasn't that keen on but the rest of the food was amazing. It had a lovely atmosphere I'm a lovely setting with lovely friendly staff who don't rush you. Definitely a must if you in the area and want to try south indian food.

We walked in on Friday evening without booking a table on the off chance and was quickly seated even though the place was packed. We ordered a vegetarian thali and masala dosa. The food was delicious, wholesome and full of flavour. The place was clean and the service was efficient. The waiter was well knowledgeable of the menu and guided us through. We enjoyed the whole experience and a big thank you to all .

Fantastic food and service!The menu is quite small which is a great thing as clear all the meals are unique and freshly made ( not Just a base sauce with different ingredients added )This is not your run of the mill Indian It is authentic southern Indian cuisine They are also able to make a superb Irish coffee unlike many top restaurants we have been in !It was actually black and white with a strong whiskey taste and made with double cream ( not cheap squirty cream ) Well done guys

First time here. Turned up without a booking and just got a table as it was fairly busy. Very interesting menu, and I did'nt know very much about south Indian cuisine.For starters I had a Masala Dosa, which was very unusual and very tasty . Main course I had a Kappad Lamb curry with Kelal Partha . It was a very tasty and fragrant flavours and not badly priced at all. Highly recommend

We had a super weekday meal with friends last night. It was first time back at this favourite. The restaurant was pretty quiet so perhaps trade hasn't really picked up.The food is authentic and deliciously spiced. Its South Indian, Kerala cuisine and a little different from the traditional Indian. Three of us had the delicious dosas two of which were seafood and I had the chicken biriani which was a treat. Attentive and friendly service.Will be back soon.

I went back to this restaurant for the first time after the lockdown and was able to take my wife who is not a great lover of Indian food but she had a really enjoyable meal which the staff made sure that there was no coriander in her meal. And she thoroughly enjoyed the evening for myself I was not disappointed by the standard of the cuisine all of the service it was absolutely excellent and I would recommend the Kappad to anyone.

Popped in with 2 friends for their fixed price lunch. Have eaten here many times before and the Dosa lunch hit the spot as always. Great service. Great prices - lunch for just £6.95…..recommended without question.

We visit this place fairly regularly and taken many friends here too. At all times the waiters are very pleasant and the food excellent. As I am af Indian origin , they will increase the heat to suit my palate without any hesitation. I would recommend this South Indian restaurant to anyone who loves this cuisine, you will not be disappointed

Visited Kappad on recommendation of a foodie friend and what a dinner it turned out to be. Fried Prawns and Fried Fish as starters set the scene. Prawn curry with Malabar Paratha followed and it was hard to stop eating. Payasam as dessert top the night.It is so refreshing to see a South Indian restaurant so close to home.

Enjoyed the Keralan experience of a fish starter and mixed curries - don't think I will be eating again today. Kind and friendly staff. This month also comes with an Eating Discount. Would highly recommend.

Decided to try this restaurant after recommendation. It’s seldom we find Kerala restaurant in the UK. You should try it if you have been missing poratta and beef. We had meen pollichathu which was delicious too.

Came here with a few friends to try, food was super, as we were not accustomed to the menu, the waiter was happy to offer his assistance and recommendations, I had a prawn curry which was SUPER TASTY and a sort of bread they did which tasted much nicer than your usual naan bread from a normal indian restaurant, the whole meal was super and the staff were very attentive. Will be returning to try something else different!Jason

First visit since lockdown and it was lovely to be back and even be recognised by the staff. The lamb curry was as delicious as it always was, and the wife who I've been pestering to come with me to Kappad for years had the Kuttanadan Konju Masala (prawn) and adored it, she wishes she'd been before!The fantastic food is one thing, but you also get a level of service that is higher than you would expect - they know when your beer glass is nearly empty, they keep an eye on how your starter is going down to get the main course ready at the right time. They know the food inside out so recommend a suitable dish, which is important as this is not a traditional 'Indian' as we know it (in fact 80% of 'Indian' restaurants are Bangladeshi-owned).Don't expect to see Jalfrezis, Bhunas, Madrases, Kormas etc here, but trust me on this, you will love anything you try - but check with the waiting staff as the menu doesn't tell you how spicy the dishes are.It was again a charming experience and Kappad is thoroughly deserving of its 5* rating. I cannot wait to go again.

We've been using their take away service and booked a table as soon as we could. We were there for the 1st unlocked Saturday and it was truly excellent - as usual.We brought two friends who are very wary of what they regard as 'Indian' food. They were delighted and a little surprised.We have friends from Punjab and Gujrat and have travelled there so we know how varied the cuisine is; you'll not see Dosa on Bangladeshi or Pakistani menus e.g.So good to have Kappad back!

First time in kappad restaurant and YOU have to go! It’s the cutest little spot with amazing food. The porotta and beef are to die for. IT WAS FIRE!! Popped in for lunch and stayed a bit longer than we thought! The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The menu is lovely and we had a selection of starters followed by the set lunch menu, which was great value for money. Good vegan range of food too. Very authentic and traditional food. I've been this restaurant before and posted my opinion as well it was good,But I've ordered via just eat as I order from other restaurants always,The all delivery drivers arrived late and when I asked the resaon they said kappad is always late for takeaway, it's seems they don't bother at all,Delivery guys said when they ask restaurant colleagues they never answer polite way and never say the exact time how long will it to to get the food... Arrogant The drivers also said they will report it to just eat...Honestly I always order from just eat and deliveroo they are good but if a restaurant makes late my food will be late.... Drivers does not deliver the food late... You can drive Loudwater to West Wycombe in 8-10 minutes so there is no chance of being late...

After hearing about how great the food was at Kappad we decided to try it out. The food was delicious, as a vegetarian I can highly recommend the paneer masala! The service was great too, they have really lovely staff. We'll definitely be back again to try out the dosas.

Our first visit and what a find! Very good food and service.It’s great to find an Indian restaurant with a difference, a real step up from the bog standard curry house. Take a look at the online menu which gives you an idea.Social distancing is all handled well, QR code on arrival and face masks worn until seated. The restaurant is clean, tidy and modern looking with most tables separated by temporary plastic screens (tastefully done).Service was friendly and helpful from start to finish. The food was bloomin’ lovely. I had the Chilly Paneer starter. Very tasty with enough spice to give it a bit of zing but not too much to kill the flavour of the paneer. For my main I had the mixed seafood curry, which was also top notch. Good balance of spice and flavour with a decent amount of sea food. The Naranga Choru (lemon rice) made a pleasant change. I also had Kallappam (soft pancakes) which were very freshly cooked and tasty, making a pleasant change from my “go to” of paratha’s. Very, very tasty.My wife had the Alappey Tharavu Masala (duck) which was also superb.Lovely evening out, something slightly different to try and lots more options to try next time we visit. We will certainly be back!,If you are wondering about whether or not to give it a go, stop wondering, and give it a go.( they also do take away and at the time of writing are still offering, until the end of October, 25% of eat in meals Monday to Wednesday.)

We’ve visited Kappad first time in October last year and we’re going back ever since. The service is outstanding, they are happy to assist you and help choose a meal that you will be amazed with. Each time we’re there the restaurant is filled with people, although we’ve never had to wait too long for our food to arrive! The food is just amazing. Different variety of flavours can tackle even the most picky eaters. I can highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great South Indian experience.

This place is fantastic. Not your typical British-Indian-restaurant by any means, it's a distinctly Keralan style menu, boasting dosas and all kinds of delicious pickles etc. Black pepper lamb starter was sublime. High range chicken main was aromatic, flavoursome and generous. Service excellent, great atmosphere, highly recommend.

its very rare when all aspects of your restaurant experience, from every course to service are so flawless that the only outcome is perfection.Twice we have been here now and have been wowed twice. My wife's family is from goa and the maslala dosas are what she remembers from her childhood of what her grandma used to make and thought they were lost forever until now.Lamb curry is to die for and rice is as light as air. My wife had the sea bass which was perfectly filleted even though was kept whole in appearance. Have booked to go back with my father in law as am sure will be a perfect meal for him with his goan routes.

I went to Kappad for the first time over the weekend and I think it is the best restaurant I've been to in Wycombe. The quality and authenticity of the food was unparalleled, much better than some of the popular Indian restaurant franchises in Central London. The restaurant specialises in seafood and I would highly recommend getting any of the fish dishes on your visit. We also ordered the dosa and it came much larger than anticipated (good portion size). The dishes are also reasonably priced and service amicable. The restaurant has additionally done a good job with table distancing / plastic screens between tables.I believe I will be returning as a regular to Kappad.

Unfortunately a restricted menu meant no spicy seafood soup, however the food was so light and flavoursome with seemingly no oily ghee. The service was of the highest quality. I’ve been before and I’ll definitely go again. Really good South Indian cuisine, a refreshing change in Wycombe.

We had never tried Kappad before today so we decided to order a home delivery. The menu looked interesting and a welcome change from standard generic Indian dishes. We ordered the Mixed Seafood Curry and a Nadan Beef Peralan with Lemon Rice and Curried Potato.The food was delivered on time and the food was fantastic! I think I can honestly say I wouldn't want to go elsewhere from now on.We look forward to dining in the restaurant.Well done Kappad!!

This was my first visit to Kappad and I really regret not having been here before. The food was outstanding. Due to the ‘eat out to help out’ scheme the restaurant was fully booked on a Monday night. Despite it being so busy the service was good although it did seem that they were struggling to keep up with all the restaurant drinks orders! The food was incredible. Really different to your usual curry and it feels really authentic. My brother who has been to Goa said it was reminiscent of what he had eaten there. I can not wait to do back and plan to go again and again so I can sample all the different items on the menu!

I have been here multiple times now and have always thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The food is far from your typical Indian restaurant, and offers so much variety. You can taste how fresh and organic the ingredients are and the quality is beyond anything else. Th portions you get are very generous and I have always walked out of Kappad feeling very full and satisfied. My only critic would be that there isn’t a huge variety of drinks on tap and would be nice to have a few beer options.

Visited whilst in the area for 1 night. Previous reviews are spot in in that this is an excellent venue. Lovely starters, superb attentive service and the three vegetarian meals we had all had a separate and distinctive flavour. I mention this as, on occasions, Indian meals are listed as having distinct ingredients but when you compare the sauces they all appear very generic (i.e. the same !). Not so here. They highlight the differences in the Southern Indian cuisine and it is very evident based on our experiences. 2 starters; 3 curries; accompaniments; 1 dessert; drinks and 2 coffees came to £70, which we thought was very good value given the service and quality.

Our first time visit after a group from church had been and gave us glowing reports. An interesting and unusual Indian rstaurant. We're not regulars at such restaurants, and appreciated the patient explanations of staff. One of us has allergy to dairy products, but the staff guided us very effectively to the suitable parts of the menu. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and would happily recommend it.

Stopped here as it was about the only place open after a show at the Wycombe Swan! A refreshing change on your regular Indian and the food was excellent and the staff very friendly!

Interesting menu, not standard UK Indian, Although is a great experience if you are looking for something a bit different. The service is good although we went on a really busy Saturday evening and it took a while for drinks, food and the bill to come (Could have been short staffed). Lots of vegetarian dishes on the menu. Worth a visit for sure

I make a special trip to this Restaurant on a regular basis the food is Great for Meat/Fish Eaters but really really good for Vegetarians serving Dosa and other delights and the Sea Bass Fillet is exceptional . They do a special Lunch Menu which is very reasonably priced although tap be honest all of the pricing is good. It is an effort to get there for me buy well worth it .

Meen Polichadh was very Tasty and Delicious, The Appam, Poori was awesome. We tried another delicious food KAPPA and MEEN CURRY , which was very Tasty . And very good Service too the Staff’s were very friendly and helpful
