Excellent food. Within easy walking distance of the station, even with a full tummy! Will visit again next time we are in York.

It's funny how people claim in their reviews thus plsce is halal. Mist turkish restaurants in this country especially in a town with few Muslims would advertise their food as halal. I would warn proper Muslims to keep away when their menu clearly sells beer and wine. Shameless!!!

I ate Beyti Sarma. It was one of the most authentic Turkish food I have ever ate in the UK. Thank you so much for keeping the authenticity. Also appreciated for the free starters and tea at the end.

We went here on a whim, after walking around York on a cool and blustery winter day. We had about 2 hours before our train back to London, and didn't want fast food, so we searched online and found this place. We walked to it not expecting much, but immediately upon entry we knew we found a good spot. We ordered standard fare, nothing too exotic. All was very well prepared, spiced nicely and extremely tasty. The chicken Iskander was the highlight of our meal, but the true revelation was the baklava. I have never had this dessert prepared so well, or so perfectly. It was flaky, appropriately sweet but not cloyingly so, and was not even close to soggy like almost every other instance of this dessert I have had. If you go to the restraint for any other reason, be sure to get baklava or you won't have the full experience.

While searching for a place to eat in York, we asked for recommendations and were told we absolutely had to try Kapadokya Restaurant. We decided to give it a go, and it turned out to be an elegant and delicious choice. The staff were incredibly friendly, and Aydın Bey gave us a warm and welcoming reception. Having tried Turkish cuisine both in Turkey and in other countries, I can confidently say that the flavors here are unmatched. As someone who is very particular about meat, I was impressed with its quality. If you’re in York, this place is a must-visit! We tried the Beyti, Beykoz Kebab, and the mushroom meze, and every dish was outstanding!

Place with a stunning design, food exquisite and the host(Aydin) was so welcoming and friendly with us. Highly recommend it.

Relaxed yet classy settings, came with friends from London, genuine Turkish cuisine is one of the best in the world, contrary to your typical doner, they emphasize on freshness of their meat and seafood, because it is usually done with simple methods such as grill to maximize their flavours, we shared the platter as starters and had lamp chops, skewers and Beykoz Kebabi which is like to lasagne baked in aubergine. The meat was cooked to absolute perfection, the lamb chop was just amazing especially, as a foodie you can tell a lot of effort was made in the establishment to ensure a very high standard of food quality is delivered, from the freshness of the ingredients to just right amount of flavours on the sides (not to overwhelm the meat). Just outstanding and amazing service too, we also shared a dessert Baklava between the three of us and that was crispy fresh like just made but very importantly not too sweet - perfect. if you are like me, who like a good meat, barbeque or Turkish cusine, cooked fresh and to a VERY good standard in a relaxed setting, I highly recommend this place.

First visit to this restaurant and to be honest it was a game of two halves. Warm welcome on arrival from Aydun ( I apologise if I have misspelt your name ) food and drinks ordered , so now here we go. Starters were meat balls , babaganush and tazatziki with bread , all lovely so all good so far. For our mains I had the lamb chops and my wife the Aubergine house special. The lamb chops were spot on and accompanied with salad and rice , sadly the Aubergine whilst cooked to perfection was rather bland and tasteless , it did need some injection of flavour to elevate it ... For desert we shared the rice pudding and baklava, yum. So overall dinner was ok but with a bit of flavour could have been much better.

Thank you, this was our first visit to York for many years and you looked after us beautifully. Baclava and Vanilla ice cream go so well together.

Come back here, when I visit York again.

This restaurant is highly recommended! We’re student from Indonesia looking for HALAL food in York, and this spot is amazing. It’s really iconic and clean. The food is tasty - the chicken a la cream tastes just like the creamy soup we eat in our hometown, full of flavor. The portions are huge too. The staff are super friendly. They even let us pray there! If we could give it 10 stars, we totally would. All Indonesians visiting York, you have to eat here! Good luck, Kapadokya!

I've been to a few Turkish restaurants and have always been impressed, however, I found this place a little disappointing. For a Saturday evening there was no atmosphere and the main course food was a little bland and on the expensive side. We had the hot meze for 2 to start, that was very nice especially the Sigara Borek and Muska Borek, however we felt it would have benefited from having some bread to go with the humus and the sauces. For a 3 course meal, plus a bottle of house wine, it cost just short of £100.

I came here for dinner with my family. Was shocked as to how welcoming and kind the staff were. Had a chicken alacreme and my parents shared a mix grill for 2. Was the best meal I’ve ever had. Accompanied by a flashy brownie and baklava to finish the night off. If you’re ever in York and want the best quality food and service this is the place to go. 10/10 altogether me and my family had an excellent night! We will be back for sure.

Service was great had a warm welcome when we first arrived. The food was okay but not great, maybe we should have ordered something different as what we had was tasteless. We had Brie for starter and minced lamb in filo pastry deep fried. These unfortunately were tasteless and oily and hardly any lamb. Took one apart and possibly a spoon full of mince inside. The lamb stew for main was okay very thin sauce not flavourful something I make at home and the rice portion was tiny. The main chicken Idkander dish was £19ish and no rice as this was extra but didn’t realise at time of ordering. Would I go again, unfortunately not.

Just had our launch/dinner after a long day in York, the food was remarkably delicious (was literally happy dancing while eating. The manager (maybe the owner) was so so sweet he made us feel very welcomed and checked on us a few times. He gave my baby sister juice and ice cream when she asked without even charging us for it. So nice and welcoming. Will absolutely go again if I was around!!!

Just visited kapadokia restaurant, always eat hear when in york, we had the mixed grill , it was cooked to perfection. Staff was so welcoming and friendly.

We came here one Friday night after the races in York. The main thing you notice about this restaurant is that it never really seems to be more than a quarter full every time I pass and it was the same when we went on this day it was busy everywhere else. It is a shame as the food is quite good. We have had better Turkish meals but there is nothing bad about the food here. I do feel that if more people came here the food would improve too. All in all, this is a decent place to eat but not exceptional.

My wife and I visited on the evening of 26/07/2024 and sampled the following - Starters of Fresh deep fried squid, served with yogurt dip and garnish. Sigara Borek - Filo rolls stuffed with minced lamb, parsley, spiced and freshly fried. Mains of Lamb Iskender and Lamb Mousakka. We also ordered the bread which came in a basket and was piping hot. All of these were very nice and tasted great. The staff were all very welcoming and knowledgeable when we asked about the menu. A nice experience, we would certainly return next time we’re visiting York.

The restaurant provided the reception meal for our wedding, which took place this past Saturday. The professionalism and the service provided was exemplary! My family and friends all commented positively on the support that staff were providing and the food was tremendous. My family loved it so much, they went for lunch the next day! I would highly recommend anyone considering a wedding reception meal to utilise the services of Kapadokya. They truly are fantastic! Thanks again to the restaurant staff

Delightful! I would strongly recommend eating here if you are in York. Located a little way away from the main streets of York it could be missed but the food was exceptional and by far the nicest Turkish cuisine I’ve had over in the UK. The service was also brilliant; we were short on time before our theatre showing and mentioned this to the manager and he hurried things along so we were able to eat and pay super promptly. Really helpful!

Another excellent meal. I come here regularly after work. Perfect quality meat, salad and everything else. Best turkish restaurant in the city. Managers and staff always go the extra 10 miles. You cant get a better deal anywhere else. You get more than what you pay for. Would 100% reccomend a visit if you are in york.

Really tasty starters, had the meatballs and shared hot mere. Main course had the lamb sauté, was nice but was missing either cumin or raz el hanut to give it that Turkish taste, hubby had lamb chops which he enjoyed. Not bad all in all

We went to Kapadokya for dinner with our friends. The ambience was excellent so was the food. We had mixed kebab which was well cooked and delicious. The service was excellent and the staff was so welcoming. There is also a very unique decoration on the ceiling when we asked the owner he explained it is a special design for the restaurant with high quality of fabric. Worth seeing.

A lovely surprise - the food was really excellent. We had the chicken skewers, moussaka and lamb casserole and all were delicious. The bread with dips was really fabulous. We were full and weren't going to have dessert. In the end we ordered one baklava to share and I'm so glad we did - it was heavenly! Lovely friendly service too.

So disappointed! Overpriced and just so bland. My wife and I had looked forward to our meal all day. We were visiting York for the day and had booked an evening mealWe arrived at 6 and were first in the restaurant. We had a hot mixed mezze sharing starter which was just average but priced at £19:50. I then had the Kapadokya special which was expensive at £27:50. It was billed as an ancient recipe and sounded lovely so I went for it. However, I could have knocked it up myself in 10 mins and was nothing special. Certainly not worth the £27:50. Chicken in a honey sauce with peppers, dried apricots and rice. A bit of cinnamon around the edge of the plate. A big let down! My wife’s moussaka was similarly disappointing. Bland with what seemed an absence of seasoning and bizarrely no tomato. Maybe we chose the wrong meals, but it was just all a big let down. Won’t be going back.

Since we were here last (about 6 months ago) they've hiked the prices. We used to visit regularly but it's now not an option for us, especially since they said they weren't prepared to substitute one ingredient for a different one to help with a particular food allergy. I just wanted rice instead of croutons with a meal. Apparently it was impossible. So it's now overpriced and inflexible. We walked out and we won't be going back.

Very authentic turkinsh cuisine cooked perfectly and well presented. Prices are reasonable and the food really is good. The Sigara Borek and beef sausage starters were great. For main, the lamb beyti was delicious and the lamb skewers perfect. Washed down with a great bottle of turkish White wine (Angora). Great dinner

We came here as park of restaurant week and we were not disappointed. The starters of turkish sausage and borek were well presented and delicious. The mains we chose of lamb and mousaka were tasty as well as filling. Nice atmosphere. Good service. Would definitely recommend this place.

Immaculately clean , you can see why it gets 5 stars for cleanliness. We got a very friendly welcome , the owners son looked after us . The food was absolutely delicious . We had had mains off the Grill menu , they all came with rice but we ordered fries to as an extra and you can see how they are using really fresh oil , best tasting fries . This is a fantastic family run restaurant, thoroughly recommend it .
