Kanton Chinese Takeaway in North Norfolk

Great to have a Chinese takeaway that was light, varied and leave you feeling fresh! I can definitely recommend the satay, sweet, nutty and rich. The schezwshan pork was decent too. Cash only, so get organised.

Following reviews we bought from Kanton whilst on holiday here in Cromer. Food prepared promptly and was piping hot. Free prawn crackers and excellent dishes. Definitely recommend.

Just had a most delicious take away from here this evening. Had prawn crackers, 2 lg deep fried spring rolls (particularly nice), Singapore rice vermicelli (hubby said it was great and plenty of it) A set meal (in one large container) sweet & sour pork with fried rice (generous portion and gorgeous flavours) and to finish off banana fritters with syrup ~ absolutely stuffed but happy stuffed. Our only grip was they only accept cash only....but everything else 10/10.

Had a nice takeaway from here, very good quality chicken and the beef fried rice came with generous amounts of beef. Friendly staff and a nice place to wait for your order, would recommend.

We ordered Chicken Chow Mein along with Beef in Black Bean sauce , both of these dishes were without any veg, bean sprouts or onions. It has been our experience that when you request dishes with no veg your portion size is substantially reduced. This was most definitely Not the case tonight. The rest of our order was Peeking Spare Ribs,( 6 lovely tasty ribs, good amount of meat in a beautiful sauce )Chicken Chow Mein, (Large container of tasty noodles with plenty of chicken)Ginger Chicken (Lovely flavoured dish, nice chunks of chicken breast that was tender and juicy and NOT chemically tenderised), Salt nd Pepper Chicken (Crispy Chicken pieces with chili, salt pepper and onions, so so tasty) and Chips. The food was delicious, non greasy , piping hot, good sized portions and really good value. We live locally, this was our first order , it will definitely not be our last. Thank you, we all really enjoyed our food tonight.

I’ve had worse, I must admit there ain’t a lot of nice places to go In Cromer, and the customer service they all look miserable, most of the time.

Very disappointing. After a long day I was really looking forward to a treat. The food looked great when I got home. However when I tasted it (Beef with pepper in black bean sauce) it was inedible. All I can assume is that the chef accidentally poured the whole pot of MSG in it. It was horrible. Two stars rather than one because my partner said her own dish (different item) was ok.

We loved the food! There were lots of vegan options, we phoned through our order and the food was ready in the stated time. First rate service.

Excellent food, ready for the time we ordered and very reasonable priced. The special fried rice was one of the best and a large portion easily enough for two or three people.

First time we’ve ordered from here. Food very good, regret not using it before now. Would recommend giving it a try, good size portions and certainly had plenty of flavour.

Seldom write a review but the Kanton warrants a big thumbs up. We have only been coming to them over the last year but the quality of the food has been consistently good & the staff are always helpful & friendly.

I’m usually disappointed by Chinese take away but this is hands down the best I’ve had in years! Really tasty, not greasy or too salty. Was very pleasantly surprised. Highly recommend.

We were visiting the area on holiday and wanted a Chinese on our Friday night so searched the local area. It only took 20 mins from ordering to collecting and they were pleasant. The food is one of the nicest Chinese I have eaten with lots of variety. If we ever visit again, we will definitely visit again. I recommend the salt and pepper chips, wow!

Went to get my birthday takeaway and I’ve got to say the worst customer survice you could ever get first of all they accused us of getting the wrong number on our order as when we received out food the whole order was wrong instead of being apologetic they told us we where wrong I work in the food industry the first rule is to keep your customers happy no matter what the incident the numbers for the order where clearly wrong on the online menu and when we asked they made us a fresh lot of what we ordered first of all but then ... they asked us to pay for it I’ve never in my whole life been in such a rude and self-centred environment as this I don’t recommend and don’t appreciate the way we are treated learn to respect as this will ruin your business reviews like this .

Been getting our Chinese food here for very many years. Never disappoints, always excellent. Best Chinese around for miles.

My place of choice to go for Chinese take away. Good sized portions, massive excellent range of dishes catering to all tastes. Quick service and good value. Always well cooked and we often get given prawn crackers and fortune cookies. Recommend highly!

I called in here for a takeaway last week, really good food. The price is right and the taste is really traditional well to an Englishman anyway.

The food was excessively salty, so we ended up leaving most of it, very disappointing as we were told it was a good takeaway.

Had an excellent take away from Kanton while visiting Cromer between Xmas and New Year. Curry was cooked as requested, hot and the spare ribs were amazing. The meat just fell off the bone. Definitely the place to go.

Fantastic food and really lovely staff. Always a smile and a bag of prawn crackers with your meal. I must admit that I do not like prawn crackers, so they give me fortune cookies instead. I have never had a bad meal from here and it is my local Chinese and has been for the last 18 years. I phone my order through and collect it usually within 15 minutes, or if you prefer you can ask them to have it ready for you at a specified time. Their food is very tasty, full of flavour, my personal favorite is Chicken sweet and sour and my husband absolutely loves their Beef Chow Mein.

This takeaway was horrible. The town centre location means there is very little free parking nearby, and what there is is mostly for blue badge holders. We went in, and there was a large crowd in the dark shop. After placing our order, mang dogs came in (there should be a no dogs policy, not everyone likes to be growled at by some misbehaving mutt). When we got back to our home, the food was DISGUSTING. The fried rice was dry and tasteless, and the batter was falling off the chicken balls. Avoid at all costs.

Good food, friendly young staff, restaurant area was basic but quite cosy, took our own beer. Food was good, service was excellent and served with a smile. Would go again.

A meal for three in 7 minutes! Everything just right! Crisp batter for Sweet and Sour Chicken, tasty sauces and generous serves of meat in double cooked Pork. Beef Chow Mein tender and delicious. Happy service too!

Stayed in Cromer for the weekend and popped in for food one evening, lovely 2 course meal for only £10.90 each - really tasty food! Restaurant very basic, but clean. Staff very welcoming and friendly, thank you! 😀

Had a takeaway tonight while on holiday. Enjoyed it very much - well cooked and not greasy - but our starter was wrong, we got chicken balls instead of vegetarian spring rolls. The dog was delighted at least!

As good as ever and unable to find another Chinese takeaway elsewhere to compete with it. Recommend hot and sour soup followed by chicken chow mein with chilli sauce.

We had a lovely visit here. Sat in for the meal, they couldn’t have been friendlier and the food was delicious. Very happy.

Been coming to north Norfolk for years but never had a Chinese up here, always local pub food and fish n chips!

Great takeaway, with a small basic restaurant area.

Phoned order through, it was ready to collect in 15 minutes. everything stayed warm on way back to holiday cottage. All food was great. Very good value.

Kanton are great at being flexible with adapting the menu for a vegetarian diet. I often order sweet and sour tofu that isn't on the menu without any issues. The sauce tastes fresh and flavoursome without being gloopy and thick like with some Chinese takeaways. Would highly recommend!

Not sure if they normally delivery, but they were happy to deliver to us. They called when they arrived and the service was quick enough.

My son and I visited for lunch and were greeted by a friendly lady who showed us to our seats. We both had a starter and main off the lunch menu, plus drinks and paid £17.

The prices are a scandal, £24 for 2 dishes with rice and a bag of disgusting dry chips that had the texture of plaster board. Rang up and asked if they do a dish, the woman said "what is that, never heard of it" its a standard chinese restaurant dish. The food its self was bland, no taste, tough meet in water is what it tasted like. The orawn crackers were awful

We had a takeaway meal of prawn toast, spare ribs and special rice. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was well cooked and a great flavour.

We've had some ok takeaways from here. Nothing special but ok. Unfortunately, they've slipped below ok and into 'fairly poor'. The chicken in our food had a slimy texture, the sauces were thin and dull, the prawn crackers were old and tired. On a good note: the spring rolls were chunky and pretty good. Overall.. just another one of Cromer's pretty woeful selection of takeaway options... MUST TRY HARDER

Bought take aways from here so many times I can't count them. Never had an issue with them. It is the best Chinese in Cromer

Had a takeaway meal from here tonight ordered 5 different dishes only 2 were nice the chicken in the dishes was slimy the chicken and mushrooms was really garlicky and the sauce was like jelly very unpleasant the chips were reheated even the prawn crackers were really thick and obviously not cooked fresh so think twice before eating at The Kanton Cromer

Had the Singapore vermicelli and the crispy duck and pancakes. Both very good and will go back. The only this missing was some decent chilli sauce.

Our two most recent visits have resulted in us having a new addition to the menu. There are several, all followed by 'a' ('b' etc...)

My husband and I popped in for a takeaway on way home, food was nice and reasonably priced. Was a restaurant area there too but it was empty so we got a takeaway! But was very nice food

Not my usual takeaway as the once in Suffield Park was closed Tuesdays - food here is just awful ordered Duck with plum source received duck and some sticky gravy tasted awful and beef black bean source was chewy and inferior in quality. Pork balls had weird fragrant taste like cinnamon added. All food was fatty, greasy and chewy. Special fried rice soggy, looked old greyish colour and did not taste fresh.

Following our telephoned order, we arrived at the agreed time but were faced with a further 20 minute wait,for our food to be cooked. Our original food had been given to another customer. We were also offered someone else's food, while we were waiting.

Visited tonight. Whilst it is quite difficult to place an order over the phone, the food was spot on. Enjoyed by all. (Even my Mum who is the hardest to please) 👌

this is more of a takeaway than a restaurant. on the saturday night we went here it seemed that there was only 2 people working. the takeaway side was very busy and as such when we were sat down by the overworked girl, she took a while to come back to take our orders. also forgot one of or main meal and it turned up after we'd finished! bit expensive for chinese too (£6 for fried rice) good food though but probably won't use again if back in cromer.

Always fantastic food from here. Friendly promp service. As I live 10 miles away I phone the order through , they always pack it well and it's still piping hot when I get home. Good size portions . We love the house special rice .

This is a good place to have lunch on a budget for £7 50 each we all had a two course lunch and the food was good and served fast chicken satay was excellent as a starters and the kanton special mixed meat vegetables and rice was good the only down side was it's not licensed and the tables and chairs are on the basic side but the food is good

Always go here when we fancy a takeaway very good for value with the portions on the generous side just a shame its not got a better eating in service

On our last night in Cromer we decided that we fancied a Chinese but wanted to sit in. We went to Kenton. It's very basic, no frills Chinese and we could take our own alcohol. There was 4 of us and they did a special £9.50 for 2 courses. I was really surprised. The food was really good and the staff were very pleasant. Not bad at all. Will definitely be going again when we're next in Cromer.

Very nice food, Had a veritable of dishes, egg fried rice, duck rice, special chowmein chicken balls. All were Very nice and staff were friendly, the place was busy so that is a good sign to me!! Would definitely recommend and go back again

We have been here 6 times now over the last 6 months and every time we get absolutely brilliant food.Both the restaurant and takeaway have a 5 star food standards rating and the staff are really nice.

A good range of Chinese food. Roast duck especially good.Used on a regular basis and always reliable.

Very disappointed with this place as it was heavily raining and as visitors we really needed somewhere to sit and have a meal. On entering the establishment the you g man behind the counter looked blankly at us when I asked if we could sit down as all it would have taken was to put some seats into the floor from the table but no, it was a blank no despite two children being in tow and then advertising having seats.Food average, service appalling.

We had a great starter very quickly, the main was excellent and we both agreed the food as very good, we were going to have a sweet but think we were forgotten and after a half hour wait, went to front desk and paid, such a shame no banana fritter.....but food very good, take away service was very busy...

Visited this Chinese on a recommendation from a family member and I have to say it was one worth taking note of! The food was lovely and there was plenty of it! A word of advice, you won't be hungry afterwards!

It's quite unusual to find a takeaway with a seating area which does lunchtimes, and finding on in Cromer was pretty random. They did a set 2 course meal for £7, we both had ribs for starter and I had a mixed meat Chow mein, my wife had chicken Chow Mein, all of it hot and cooked fresh from our order, we bothe enjoyed it and washed it down with some pop. No one was in the place except us, but it was good food and I would recommend it. Makes a change from the chippy.

Just had a takeaway from here tonight, and quite frankly it was one of the worst ever! The egg fried rice had never seen an egg and no soya sauce was added at all, in fact it was simply boiled rice put in a frying pan! My husbands curry was tasteless runny water, and my chicken in black bean sauce looked like brown dish water with 3 black beans trying to make a break for freedom (yes 3!)! It was so lifeless it couldn't even cling to my chip when I dipped it in. Only the dog has gained out of tonight's gastronomic disaster!

For a Saturday night takeaway dinner, this is a fantastic place to go in Cromer. The meal I had from here was one of the best takeaways I've had in Norfolk, and quite possible the whole of Britain!

We left it late to book a table at one of favourite Norfolk lunch venues.Instead, we decided on a takeaway Sunday lunch from the Kanton in Cromer.We certainly were not disappointed. We had three main courses, noodles, rice and prawn crackers, all most enjoyable but we struggled to finish. This was for two people and for less than £20.It is certainly our preferred takeaway...

Our first takeaway from here & we ordered the set meal for two A. It was fine apart from the chow mein, which was mushy & tasteless. This let the whole meal down & we wouldn't order it again. The other dishes were tasty & good portion sizes. The sweet & sour pork balls were nice & crispy, which makes a change. We would order from here again, but would choose individual dishes next time.

The portions were huge and probably ordering a half crispy duck as an appitiser was a mistake as we couldn't manage to finish our main courses! (which were all very tasty)

Thought we'd try this Chinese out (been a year or so since we last had one from here) and before it was lovely but now it's just a bland under or overcooked Chinese. Special fried rice was just plain rice with a few peas in and it stuck to your throat. Chips where over done. Chicken balls undercooked in the middle and portions where very small. Won't be eating here again.

The salt and pepper chips are great and you have to try the chow mien there unbelievable i defiantly recommend it .

my first meal from this takeaway and wont be my last, phoned in order and was told would be ready in twenty minutes, arrived just after and order was ready and waiting, food was piping hot, crispy chilli beef was the best I have ever tasted.

Fast food? Well not really. They took a long time and the meal was not very good. The Aubergine vegetarian dish was particularly bland and unexciting. Not an experience to repeat, perhaps I will try the other place next time we visit cromer

Food was very bland. Special-fried-rice was just rice with a few bits in it. Chicken Satay lacked any spiciness or flavour. I wouldn't recommend this place.

I only reviewed this a month ago, but we have had another visit since. Just as good, fresh, hot and very tasty. As I have said previously, this is the best chinese takeaway I have ever been to - I am only disappointed that it isn't closer to where I live, but it is a highlight whenever we visit the area.

We are not local to Cromer, but whenever we visit, we make the effort to use the Kanton Chinese Takeaway. It has always been superb and delivers a better quality of food than any other Chinese takeaway we have used in the UK. It is always hot, fresh and reliably good. Thank you again for a lovely meal and we will be back.

After trudging around Cromer all day we decided we couldn't be bothered to go out again for dinner so opted for a takeaway. This one was just across the road from where we were staying. We ordered our food and didn't have to wait long for it to be prepared. We tucked in when we got it home and thoroughly enjoyed it. This was one of the nicest takeaways I'd had in a long time. The rice was particularly nice with peas and mushrooms in it.

Came to Cromer on holiday , had a lovely takeaway for 5. Absolutely delicious , spices and overall taste beautiful. Better than any Chinese we've had :)

Amazing food at good prices and the people who own it and very friendly, the sweet and sour ribs are so tender, to die for. I'd recommend this for anyone who wants a nice night in or out with amazing food!

We visited here twice and were not disappointed. Traditional chinese takeaway, good food, reasonably priced. .Would recommend to anyone wanting a change from Fish and Chips and appreciating old-fashioned Chinese takeaway food.

Hi,thanks to the "lovely weather" this we we decided to have some take away and go back home so tried this chinese take away. Once in we realised they offer the seat in service too and.. why not? The area is clean, wooden tables and chairs and dim light giving us a nice atmosphere. I orderd vermicelli and squids: both of them were really nice and huge portions too with a price close to the take away one. Service was quick and friendly too. Will use again.

I have used this takeaway quite a lot over the years. It has been at times brilliant and at others just edible. We had sweet and sour chicken and sweet and sour pork, unusually the meat in both was like a minced up version of the meat, very odd and in the case of the chicken, not pleasant. In future I will go across the road and buy a chinese from Iceland and heat it up myself.

Food are incredibly good and come with big portion. One of the best Chinese I have ever had. Will definitely go again. Staff are friendly as well

We come on caravan holidays, and we always try the local Chinese, thus was hot, and tested good, and reasonably priced, down side car parking.

This takeaway is OK at best. Chow mein was incredibly greasy. Curry was nice as was the fried rice. Must have used a lot of Msg as I had a Chinese hangover in the morning.

Bought the salt and pepper beef that was on offer. Looked pale and was rock solid. Didn't taste right and was served cold. Leaving me to go hungry after spending give pounds on this. Dissapointed and hungry

As well as a takeaway, there is a small restaurant here. As a vegetarian, I was very happy with the wide range of different dishes available. The food that we had was exceptional as was the value for money!

Good Food and excellent value.. Lots of choice and very helpful staff - eat in is not much more than take Away prices.

A no frills/no fuss chinese restaurant serving delicious freshly cooked great chinese food. Staff could not be more helpful and you can even bring your own booze or get it from the 2 pubs next door. Don't be put off by the basic environment as the food is really very good. We have eaten there dozens of times and it has always delivered a great meal and lots of smiles from Raymond and his team. We love it.

Great little restaurant. Take your own alcohol. Fab service and the owners make a real effort. Fresh food straight out of the wok.

Just walking by, and seen the lunchtime special, really lovely food for the price, as you would expect for the price not a huge amount on your plate, but what we had, we really enjoyed, and the staff were really friendly.

this restaurant was very overpriced and the food I found out later some were from the freezer!!!I did not enjoy this meal at all.Plus we had all been served our food and the children Were forgotten and had to be prompted.

Visited here after it was recommend by a family member we were visiting and it was ok.....that's it just okFor me there was nothing that made it better than any other Chinese I have visited. Chow mean was dry and over cooked, chicken balls were on, just average....sauce was quite nice. Rice the same as the chow Mein, bit dry and tasteless. Curry again was ok, nothing g spectacular about itIt was edible, not that filling as I found portions quite small, would maybe eat here again if I was passing but wouldn't make a effort to specially go there

Had duck which was nice. Would not recommend satay chicken in peanut sauce, as sauce was tasteless. Friends had various other things, which they stated had little flavour. Average food.
