Kanchanas Kitchen in Lambeth

Excellent meal in an interesting location. Having gone in and out of Waterloo for 20years it wasn't until someone suggested going here that I found the place! I'm not a fan of Thai food so was slightly hesitant, but I shouldn't have been. If you didn't know this place existed at the back of the pub you'd never find it... We had a mix of meals between us but everyone spoke highly of the food. Will definitely go back in the future

This is not the place to eat on a Sunday because their usual standards drop and the waiting and cooking staff seemed very tired and disinterested otherwise they would not have been so casual in their service and the chef would not have allowed his food to leave the kitchen. My daughter left most of her chicken Pad Thai and they served me chicken Gaeng Massamun even though I'd asked for prawn but I didn't have the heart to send it back as the staff looked so weary.

This place was recommended to my fiance. We walked into the resturant and asked for a table for 2. The gentleman did not even say hello, did not really answer us, spoke to his colleague for about 5 minutes and then said ‘you can sit there but we need the table in one hour’ We then sat down and was given the menu. Again, no real acknowledgment from staff, just the menu out onto the table. We ordered the food, my finance got up to go to the bar and get us drinks, as they don’t serve them in the resturant. Within less than 10 minutes, the food was on the table. It wasn’t very hot and came out a bit too quick, as though it was just heated up. The food was greasy, more than I am used to with Thai food. We continued with our meal. Whilst eating, one of the waitress came along and just removed two of the plates with our sauces, didn’t say anything, ask if we had finished with them, nothing at all. We had barely eaten our last mouthful of food, and one of the waitresses was standing behind my finance and was waiting for us to pay. I advised we had not finished, she continued to stay right there for us to pay. We had three starters and shared a main. The bill came to just under £50 and had a discretionary service charge of 12.5%. We advised the lady hovering around us waiting for us to pay, that we were not happy to pay the service charge due to the service we had received. Her response? She laughed, we couldn’t beleive it. She then spoke to her manager, said we wanted it to be removed, the manager did not say a word to us, just went and adjusted the bill. Did not ask why were were not happy, despite us saying the service was bad, not acknowledging us at all. We love the pub this resturant is in, however it had put us off going back and it is highly disappointing. 1. Luke warm food 2. Greasy food 3. Bad customer service 4. Highly overpriced for quality and amount you get. We will not be going back. My advice is they learn customer service, if this is how they treat paying customers, I’m surprised they’re still there. No apology, nothing!

I was recommended to stop by the Kings Arms for a drink and to my surprise the pub also had a Thai restaurant in the back that was delicious. The food at the restaurant and the drinks at the bar have to be paid separately but you can eat and drink in either section of the establishment. The staff was very friendly and helped me pick out some delicious prawns and spicy fried vegetable rice that hit the spot. The price and quantity of food matched well and doesn’t break the bank. Definitely recommend stopping by this restaurant.

We dined here for lunchtime shortly after arriving at Waterloo. It was a quick lunch so we had veg Penang curry and chicken green Thai curry. If you’re not a fan of spices then they can tone down the green curry. Both were delicious and the service was faultless as always

Kanachana herself cooked me a delicious pad Thai when I visited on my own yesterday. All the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was lovely and cosy in this cold weather. Definitely recommend for a lovely, authentic Thai in London.

Petit restaurant thaï caché à deux pas de Waterloo, il a une carte minimaliste mais l'essentiel est là. Plats de qualité, salle en jardin d'hiver très agréable et pour finir très bon rapport qualité prix.

Este es uno de los mejores restaurantes tailandeses hemos visitado a un precio muy razonable.Mujer pidió el Phad Thai y yo tenía el número 14 (lástima que no recuerdo el nombre) deliciosa y sin duda volveremos la próxima vez que estemos en la zona.El único inconveniente es que tienes que pedir las bebidas en el bar.

Una vez más a la cocina de Kanchanas para un post-teatro de comida tailandesa hogareña, simple y cálido. No hay nada lujoso, pero la comida es excelente (¿es imposible cocinar mal la comida tailandesa? ¿Siempre me parece que está bien?). La adyacencia del excelente Kings Arms es una verdadera bendición. Gran cerveza y un animado ambiente de trabajo de correos. Precios no estratosféricos Siempre parece encontrar una mesa (no creo que sea posible reservar). El personal no podría ser más servicial. La calificación más alta para mí: creo que es una estrella que pierde comodidad (taburetes cuando está ocupada) y una tarifa ligeramente refinada. Nada de lo que quejarse realmente

Pretty tasty Thai food, although not the best quality . Basically, a solid pub version. Nice setting in a v useful location near the National theatre. Pretty good value for central London

Esto está en la parte trasera de Kings Arms.El restaurante es un poco rudo y listo. Bueno para un grupo de amigos no es su lugar de cena romántica.Tienes que ir y pedir tus propias bebidas en el bar. Aunque el pub sirve buena cerveza, es muy difícil que te sirvan. Esto hizo que toda la experiencia fuera bastante mala. Yo no volvería.

Como estábamos viendo un espectáculo en el Royal Festival Hall, reservamos una mesa para 18. 00 - el tiempo que abierta - pero nos dijeron que la camarera estaría en torno a 17. 50 £ para tomar nuestra orden. Eso no sucedió y tuve que buscar una camarera en 18. 05. Estábamos un poco preocupados de que nos sería tarde para el espectáculo como algunos comentarios había indicado el servicio es lento. No teníamos que habernos preocupado! Tuvimos un primer y un segundo plato y todavía tenía un montón de tiempo para hacer el show. Las bebidas se piden en el pub, los brazos del rey, y éstos, como la comida era excelente.

Nos encontramos este restaurante en internet como nos alojábamos en un hotel en Waterloo. Es en la parte trasera del Kings Arms Pub y muy básico. El personal era muy amable y es obviamente muy popular que llenó muy rápidamente. La comida estaba bien, pero me hubiera gustado más sabor y especias. Nos hubiera gustado arroz frito en lugar de duros pero nos dijeron que no lo hacen. Se pueden comprar bebidas en el bar. Volvería al pub, pero no en el restaurante porque me pareció un poco soso.

Aunque no era la comida tailandesa más auténtica que tuve en Londres, es sin duda uno de los mejores. Ambiente super agradable y parece ser familiar (no estoy seguro). La zona es muy hermosa. Si ha visto la película 'La leyenda' puede reconocer!

Este es un muy buen concepto. En el restaurante había tomado la habitación trasera de un buen número de ale pub, por separado.

Esta fue nuestra segunda visita. La comida es muy buena, aunque el servicio es un poco lento. No se puede reservar mesas con antelación, así que hay que reservar al llegar allí. El pub es bueno, con una buena variedad de cervezas y ambiente animado....

Nosotros (2 personas) estaban sentados en una mesa larga, donde estaban sentados los diferentes partidos. El restaurante está en el medio de la Arms Pub Kings así tienes tus bebidas directamente en el bar. El servicio fue rápido, serio y la comida era muy buena...

Comida tailandesa que servían era demasiado grasienta y no sabroso. ¡Terrible! Comida no tailandés! El restaurante es parte de Kings Arms pub. Sin embargo, me vi obligado a pedir la comida a la tabla (lo cual era comprensible) y dejar la mesa en una hora, aunque no termine la comida. Nos trajeron la cuenta y tomó mi plato sin preguntar si estaba hecho con comida. No se recomienda en absoluto.

We ordered a mixed platter for two. They tried to charge us for three. And then they called the police when we didn't want to pay for the meal we NEVER ORDERED.

As this place is within The Kings Arms it does not get much reviews, i only came across it after putting a review for the Kings Arms, i would agree with reviewer NFN2014 regarding the review on 1 February 2016. Will be returning again when in London

Slight concern with the last review but experienced none of those issues.Service was good, efficient without being pushy. As at the back of a pub had to get own drink but price reasonable. Food was great, had the mixed platter starter which was at the high cost end but with it. Green curry was great, hot but not a battle. Pad Thai was fantastic.Atmosphere great, lively and vibrant. Maybe a tadge noise but we enjoyed it.Will be back.

food was ok over priced and too spicy for my liking the service I found was slow and to be honest poor value for money in this particular area where you would expect better

This is very cheap excellent Thai food served communal style by friendly staff. The bar service can be slow however it is pretty hectic after work to closing time weekdays.The food is so worth it Authentic building within the lovely Roupell Street restoration area.
