If I have to judge this place on the food, the food was great, very inventive and very well presented. The wine and sake list was to die for. But the rest of the experience was a bit disappointing. The place at yeh beginning looked nice, like you are suddenly projected into Japan, but then looks like it is an area with other restaurants pop up and you could hear from our table the noise from the other places, also the toilette were shares with other places and when I used them there was a flooding going on, not great. I thought that the services was too rushed, I think we had the 6 courses in like 45 mins top. I couldn’t put my glass down that they would have refilled after one second..I didn’t find the pace relaxing. The price overall was 280 for 2 people, probably a touch too expensive overall, and I have to be honest I was still hungry when I left the restaurant.

My husband and I visited Hannah for limited special 6-course menu last night, it was so amazing. It’s definitely the best Omakase experience we’ve had. The team and food were super lovely, full of details and surprise. Completely can feel the efforts they put in🫶🏻

Had the lunch omakase. Presentation is romantic enhanced by English porcelain and fresh flowers. Flavor is 10/10. Exceeds expectation and one of the best ones (I’m not a sushi snob so no insight on quality of fish, they taste fresh). The last dish (miso salmon) was disappointingly because it was too salty. Otherwise a perfect lunch experience

We were lucky enough to be the only ones in here which provided a very intimate experience. It felt like private dining. The food was excellently presented and the server was very knowledgeable about the food. We enjoyed trying things we haven’t tried before and it was a lovely experience. My favourite was the sea bream and the wagyu. I think they should place better branding outside however, I had to to call them to find the way and we walked straight by it. I’m sure they would have more walk in’s if people know what a great gem was hidden there.

We went based on the rave reviews for a family celebration - the service was very sweet, the food was wonderful in the first courses and went down-hill in the final 3. The high point was the sashimi (wish there had been more of this kind of quality) and the low point was the sea urchin fish e which was very chewy and gave two of us food poisoning. Japanese friends told us it should have been very different to what we experienced and most likely wasn’t the freshest. The design is more like a makeshift theatre set in a town hall, where you step outside into a corridor to go to a dismal bathroom and breaks a little the sense you are dining somewhere special. It felt more like a Murakami novel with, hastily fastened wood panelling and bleak windows. There are much better experiences in London for the money. it was a quite a quirky experience, the dining room feels more like a theatre set that has been hastily crafted in a town hall, and doesn’t really match up to the quality of the food - it made sense when we joked that it felt like being in a murakami novel.

Celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary at Hannah. Pressure was on to find a memorable venue, being 'foodies' there is always a risk of one tasting menu meal blending into another. Not so at Hannah! I'd worked in Japan many years ago and Kaiseki meals are always an event. I've looked out for this style menu in London ever since. Hannah had been on my radar since it opened, but the price was daunting given it hadn't received Michelin notice. Recently Andy Hayler visited and having read his reviews (visiting twice in short order) I knew I had to go. It's not a restaurant with wow factor in terms of Instagram decor (yes, the toilets are an adventure) but that isn't the point. The menu and the genuine enthusiasm displayed by the servers and the chefs is what makes this restaurant shine. It is a meal we will remember for years to come, even if we can't afford to experience the full menu on a regular basis. I won't try and describe the dishes, would recommend reading Andy Haylers reviews as he does the food far more credit than I could, but it was an exquisite meal. The ingredients were first class, the serveware was beautiful and the sake sommelier knew her stuff, and was very respectful, addressing my wife directly regularly rather than focusing on the 'alpha male' as is usually the case in these situations. I was also able to request a pescatarian menu for my wife when arranging the booking. Will return for the lunch menus each season change, and the full 12 courses as funds permit.

Booked this place to celebrate a special day, choose the restaurant based on its reviews on google and elsewhere. When we arrived the smell of the place as you walk in was really disturbing and the general hygiene of the place was shocking, the toilets were horrendous too! We stayed for the food, unfortunately the food was also just as bad, which was strange as the reviews are rated so high. We actually didn’t end up finishing our menu as my husband and my self both started to feel unwell. We both got food poisoning along with a high temperature. We paid full price for everything, in my opinion it was extremely expensive for what it was and not worth it, actually a shame because it was a waste of money. You can have a pleasant meal elsewhere with out getting food poisoning. I will not be recommending this place to family or friends.

Enjoyable culinary experience. Really interesting and fun ways to plate and serve food. 8 course dinner with sake pairing. Our favourites were Otto and wagyu. Service was lovely and swift. As soon as we finished a course, the next course came out in a timely pace. Unfortunately, I had to give 1 less star due to the atmosphere and communal toilet in the hallway. Spotlights are far too strong, and hitting our eyes/faces, try and adjust the lighting to aim at the plates at the centre of the table rather than the customers. The restaurant area itself was decorated nicely. The serving plates and glasses were unique, some antiques, and some contemporary.

Some of the most amazing food one can imagine. Delicious, amazing flavours and textures. Great seasonal presentation. Attentive and lovely lady running front of house. Honestly some of the best food I have ever had and with the sake pairing (not necessary) it made a very good experience. However the bulding / facilities are not great, Which is a shame when you pay so much for a meal. The food is totally worth it but at the level they aspire to, one expects the whole thing to be as luxurious as the food but in this place they just can't provide this. I would recommend to anyone who wants an amazing culinary experience. BTW, I am not a dessert person but I would have their tea ice-cream any time. Thank you for an amazing meal and fantastic customer service.

The restaurant owner is very unkind. She shouts at her workers, maybe in Japanese, especially when there are many customers around. I don't fully understand Japanese, but I can sense she's being threatening to her staff. She could get into legal trouble for this harassment. If people knew about her actions, they might not like the restaurant. We shouldn't spend our money such places that are mean to their workers. It's basic for any business to treat their staff well and fairly. If an owner doesn't do this, it could hurt their own business.

This wasn't our first Michelin tasting experience but, by far, it was the best. Every detail is thought out I.e. constant discrete placement of the menu and drinks so that they were always facing us and allowed space for the dishes. Alongside descriptions of each dish, the hosts were more than happy to discuss the intricacies of the dishes. We arrived at 7.10 and left at 10.45, we took the evening at our pace and were never pressured to change that. For all there were another 5 tables of diners, it felt very exclusive and it was lovely to see the masters (chefs) at work, although I was also tempted to sneak a peak over the counter! The food itself was out of this world, the flavours were exquisite and the presentation stunning. Don't let the size of the dishes put you off, there is more flavour and substance in one dish than a story carb laden meal and you won't leave feeling hungry. I honestly don't have the words needed to accurately reflect the intensity, quality and perfection of each dish.

I expected much more based on the reviews and the price point (for which I think you can do much better in London). I chose it for the proximity to The Witness For The Prosecution (and for that, it does work, though there are many other options). There is an overpowering smell of incense as you come in. The design is really odd, with uneven wall boards and ugly ceiling pipes; the bathroom is along the same lines, behind an unsightly curtain. The service was friendly, but the ambiance for me just wasn’t there. The food was hit or miss. The starter was presented in an overly complicated way. The sashimi was just okay; one excellent, the other two - meh. The main (miso salmon with rice and miso soup) was average. Miso soup and salmon were below average, saved by tasty rice with three toppings. The ‘5-course menu’ is really 3 courses because you have to have pay a significant supplement for either desert option, and one of the other courses is literally just a tablespoon of broth. I really didn’t like having to put down a GBP 50 deposit (with a harsh cancellation policy). I also didn’t understand the final bill - which seemed higher than expected, but as I got only a small receipt with the total, I can’t even check. For me, not a winner, especially at over GBP 120 for lunch for 2.

Unbelievable dining experience, I was gifted a dinner here from a family member for my birthday. I used to live in Japan for a number of years and this is the most authentic Japanese I have had in London. Many places pretend to be authentic Japanese, however this is the real deal. I would highly recommend giving it a go. In addition, I am pescatarian and they were also able to alter the meat dish for me. This needs to be checked and confirmed in advance. The staff were also great and very efficient. The only downside was that the restaurant was quite empty effecting the ambience, however this was not a fault of the restaurant and may have just been due to the time we visited and many people being away in summer. The cost is high so this is a special occasion meal, however it is still more reasonable than Michelin star places and I would say that it offers the same level of taste experience. I’ve tried Japanese all over London and I would highly recommend this place. Also, if you’re Japanese and missing a taste of home - this is the place for you.

I wanted to take my partner somewhere special for her birthday. We both love Japanese food and have eaten in many Japanese restaurants across London. We had the £105 Omakase tasting menu. I expected the portions to be small, but just how small they were was a surprise. With a tasting menu you still expect the portions to be large enough that you have the sensation of eating something. I really didn't get that sensation with these dishes. They were beautifully presented, but offensively tiny. I was left feeling very unsatisfied. I was shocked when they brought the first dish, which was apparently a soup, it was a small glass with a blob of green liquid at the bottom. It was a struggle to scoop a spoonful out. Picture attached. Looks like the soup has now been removed from the menu, I'm not surprised! The other dishes followed in the same vein. The evening was an expensive disappointment. I would avoid unless you have already eaten a full meal beforehand.

The Spring-Theme Omakase is certainly magnificent.. 🧡 Warm Turnip with Roots Veggies and Sea Urchin on top This pre-starter was not shown on our omakase menu which gave us a great surprise element. What surprised us more was that it was served warm, hence, a comforting dish that was combined with both the slightly sweet turnip base and the sea urchin. It is a perfect start to the omakase experience. 🌿 Seasonal Starter Sections of 5 Kinds 🍶 Koshi No Kanbai , Ginjo Tokusen(越乃寒梅 吟醸特撰) The delicate fragrance with a quite light and smooth texture, what a perfect start for the omakase journey. 🍣 Sushi Dining at a restaurant that constantly aims for innovative creations for the meal, the sushi was presented by having rice at the bottom followed by layers of cuttlefish, otoro, and aged caviar at the top. 🍶 Dewazakura Izumi Judan Ginjo (出羽桜 泉十段吟醸) A crisp and dry sake with a slight hint of aromatic taste. One sip before and after the dish made a whole difference. 💥Fish & Chips The Cod Tempura is crispy and perfectly fried – the tempura coating was almost unseeable, reflecting the cutting-edge tempura techniques of the chiefs. The super-thin Purple Potato chips added a nice crunch. 🍶 Dewazakura Oka Ginjo (出羽桜 桜花吟醸)- Cherry Bouquet Similar dry taste to the previous sake, but with more blends of floral scent and taste which tasted appealing after the fried fish. 🐟 Tsukuri The sashimi is always a perfect way to highlight the high-quality ingredients used. The extra cuts on the otoro sashimi increased the surface area to better enjoy the fattiness of the fish – kudos on that. 🍶 Katsuyama: En (勝山 縁) A modern style of sake with sweet aromas and clean refreshing flavour. 🦀 Spider Crab 🍶 Kokuryu Ryu Daiginjo (黑龍 龍 大吟釀) - Gold Dragon As one of the best sakes across the globe, the complex fruity taste layers and mildly dry made it a great pairing for the umami enhancement of the dish. 🍜 Ramen with Black Truffle The rich and clear-coloured broth made from Kombu, Bonito, chicken, beef, and Shiitake Mushroom gave a satisfying taste during a cold day. With the addition of black truffle, the original earthy and musky fragrance made the broth became stronger for its umami-ness. 🍶 Kokuryu Jungin Junmai Ginjo (黑龍 純吟 純米吟釀) From the same brewery as the last sake, this sake offered a silkier texture with a similar fragrance and taste that often goes well for umami-ness. 🤤 Abalone Katsu 🍶 Tedorigawa U (手取川 U/優) - Unique The pink grapefruit acidity and svelte texture eased the overwhelming taste of abalone liver sauce – love the creative taste and the name of it. 🔥 Charcoal Grilled Wagyu Beef The juicy and tender A5 wagyu beef is grilled to perfection over charcoal. With the pine smoke Sukiyaki and sweet wagyu sauce, nothing could go wrong, just wow and enjoy. 🍶 Can’t really remember the exact name of it – Sorry about that The sake was produced by non-Japanese and used no water for the fermentation process. ❤️🔥 Hannah Chirashi Rice The last main dish is covered with scallops and Ikura before stirring all ingredients. The scallops were served raw, so you had the chance to taste them raw at the beginning and cooked after a few minutes. 🍶 Koshi No Kanbai Sai, Junmai Ginko(越乃寒梅 灑 純米吟釀)- Blue River Just as the name suggests, the taste is crisp and clean, which also marked the end of the main dish. 🍰 🍨 Desserts 🍶 Okukuma(奥球磨) An interesting experience for me. Drinking sake (not whisky) with an ABV of 40% poured out from a sherry cask. The initial taste was like whisky, but the dry aftertaste would remind you of the real sake. Having this Omakase at the restaurant listed in the Michelin Guide, I must hereby address the exceptional service provided by Ryu-san and his team. Specifically, they are always attentive and have great knowledge of the dish and sakes. Their genuine care and interaction with the customers make us feel like we are dining with friends, rather than strangers. All of these ensure our fantastic and enjoyable dining experience.

We went there at lunchtime on Friday. If you are looking to impress someone and go for good ambience, then it's a decent choice. Personally we wouldn't go again for the reasons below. + Atmosphere was very good. The restaurant is tastefully decorated. Food was served in exquisite plates and bowls. + We were impressed with the grilled Iberian pork bento, which was extremely delicious and very generous in portion. - We ordered lobster tempura Benton. For a £42 bento, I expected a decent amount of lobster, hence was astounded to find just 3-4 "finger tip" size lobster meat. The rest of the bowl was filled with vegetable tempura, which duplicated with tempura course included in the bento. The stem broccoli tempura was very greasy and had to be abandoned. The three Sashimi are tweeny tiny & folded, not thick cut as we expected. One is tasted very fishy. Needless to say we were quite unimpressed. My husband said he's about 70% full and looked for an early dinner. - the round tables (2-4 persons) got a large centre pillar, leaving it little room for our legs. I kept kicking it under the table whenever I moved my legs, making it rather uncomfortable to sit for long. - if you need to use the facilities, you need to push through a very heavy curtain and back door to access the public toilets inside the County Hall. It's not far but not ideal either. - the waiting staff was rather undertrained in service. First she put a cup of tea in front of me, which made me wonder if this is all I got for £5. Then she came back with the pot. How odd! When she served the Bento boxes she pushed them all the way to the table edge in front of us, leaving the rice bowls far away in the middle of the round table. We had to rearrange all the dishes ourselves.

Wonderful experience. Food are far beyond expectations, especially the grilled meat, you can taste the aromaticity of fat. Ryu is really professional! He recommend me two sencha and all good, the first one has light taste of bamboo, fresh and clear. He is humble and willing to hear your suggestion. Other stuff are patient and nice as well.

Ordered the 10 course menu. The desert is good although the mains were not up to the expectation. Wagyu comes out half cold and we were told that it was meant to be "for the texture" and there was no salt/seasoning by the side.

Very disappointing. I took my son here and only realised on arrival I mistakenly booked the day before. I explained this and we sat, only to then inform us they wouldn’t credit the £40 deposit to our meal. The server went to ask again and got a no so we left. The owner/chef had the discretion to do the right thing and didn’t. Bah humbug.

Thanks to a good friend who treated me along with 3 others to a gorgeous 6 course meal at Hannah! All five of us were really impressed with the quality and the variety of the dishes, especially the delicate flavours and the textures of them. I'd also like to mention the server Ryu, who is pleasant as well as professional, made our evening super enjoyable. We'd definitely be coming back to Hannah!

Excellent dinner experience! The Omakase dinner set is a bit pricey but definitely worth the price. I genuinely liked the chef and his team’s idea of joining traditional Japanese with British cuisine which took the whole Omakase experience to the next level. Each dish was fresh, well balanced and very flavorful. We especially loved the deep fried abalone with the liver sauce and the Cornish crab gohan which brings out the umami flavour so well. Other than that, the friendly and professional service made it a very enjoyable experience - they explained each dish in detail which enhanced the experience further. A big shout out to Ryu for the great service!

Went for lunch bento set. It was absolutely amazing. Portion was quite generous too for such high quality Japanese. The grilled chicken was perfectly made. We also ordered the lobster tempura - really fresh lobster, full of flavour, again perfectly made. Highly recommend and I'll be back soon. This is 5*+ place ❤️

Decided to give this place a try because it was voted as one of the best Japanese restaurant by Conde Nast Traveller. Went there on the 22nd of Oct 2022. Had the ten course omakase menu. The dishes were exquisitely presented (it was autumn so lots of autumn themed accessories such as autumn leaves, beautiful orange colour palette). The food was original without being too cleaver. The ten course is more like a twenty course menu since some of the courses comes with 4 or 5 mini dishes. It wasn’t too crowded when we were there. It seems to be popular with rich Chinese students / expats. The reason why I gave it four-star instead of five is no fault of theirs. The restaurant is located in an old town hall, and the toilet looks like it’s a school toilet. It’s not something you would expect for a high end Japanese restaurant, but I know this is not something they can change. The staff where friendly, and ever so eager to make sure you enjoy your food. Overall, it was a good experience.

This might be the best restaurant I've ever been to that doesn't have a michelin star yet. The chef and his team have created an intriguing menu using Japanese concepts, Japanese and local British ingredients, and also local ceramic products that come together for an incredible multi-sensory experience. The food is excellent and well worth traveling for.

For dinner you need to lock in to at least 6 courses, but it’s fantastic. A real spectacle. Very generous on the sake pairing

Food is fantastic but the service is not really polite nor nice I found. Note that prices have raised on a few menu options but they won’t warn you. Love the food but service counts quite a lot to the overall impression… Edit: they raised the prices again in a super high way! Wayyy more than the rate of inflation…one dish I used to eat in January 2022 is now double price!! Crazy

I had the Chirashizushi (£31) for lunch which came with a miso soup and salad. The salad and soup is like any you'd have in a Japanese restaurant and the salad didn't have much dressing. The sashimi bowl is visually very appealing, and has about 14 pieces of sashimi. Though the pieces are in smaller pieces, some have special garnishing which makes the flavours really stand out, and you can taste the freshness of the fish. There is a scattering of salmon roe on a bed of rice that is cooked just right, and there were small balls of wasabi and vegetable (ie. Snow pea, pickled mushroom, lotus root) you can have with the fish. You'll have to navigate carefully around those, but that in itself is an experience! The decor and music makes it perfect for a meal to impress. There's an option for a more luxurious bowl, and maybe ill come back as a celebratory meal (~70). They also do omakase experiences.

Starter is the best! Wagyu and sashimi is of good quality too! However, the quality of sea urchin and crab is not of top quality but understandable for its price. Overall, it is a great meal! Chef is skilled and creative. I like the way the chef use herbs and plants. I would definitely recommend it!

We booked this restaurant prior to going to AIRE on Robert Street. Having been to Japan which is up there on quality of food and ingredients (my best croissant 🥐 ever was in KYOTO! ) I would recommend HANNAH albeit with few comments to the very talented chef and owner as follows. POSITIVES . Great sake menu. . Great food ideas and presentation at the right price and pace of service. . Everything is and feels made fresh and for you. . We had the bento 🍱 box and it was presented with sashimi 🐠 in an ice bowl. Nice touch. ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT . The rice was a little dry so if he can find a way to master it being 100% everytime he'd save this comment. . And although the location and premise is quite Japanese I wonder if anither location or to add another restaurant in another location would work in his favour? I would return and recommend.

Had the dinner omakase recently with my family and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very pricey but I genuinely feel like the ingredients and care taken in the food itself makes it well warranted. Definitely on special occasions though. The tartar urchin dish was amazing. I just wish it were two smaller pieces as it was quite the mouthful and would have been nice to enjoy two bites instead. The dessert had a flambé dish that only 1 out of 4 dishes were able to catch fire. This meant while my dessert was incredible, everyone else's whisky content was too strong. Other than that, it was a very enjoyable experience with friendly service who explained each dish further than simply naming ingredients.

My first time visit with friends were brilliant, taste good serving portion alright and food presentation very appealing. That’s why I visited again two months later with my family. This second visit was much to the contrary. I ordered two lunch bento by pointing to the menu provided to the server. The one my son ordered was good which was the Lobster tempura bento. Mine being served a bowl of rice with sashimi on top, and I thought that was the sushi bento I ordered. I was bit queried about that but my second thought told me such outstanding restaurant would not served me wrong. I validly thought that might be the way this restaurant served my bento and I was expecting the rest of my food namely sushi, miso soup and salad to be served. After consuming for maybe 10 minutes nothing came to our table and therefore I enquired with a server . What eventually found out was the bowl of rice I was eating was a la carte named Chirashizushi! This a la carte was in pages behind the lunch bento menu and I had never pointed that page to the male server, needless to say I would not know how to pronounce that in Japanese. The female server whom I was talking to at that moment said they could serve me the original sushi bento if I would love to. I replied yes please do. would you, as a reasonable man under that circumstance expect the mistake of this improper serving to be borne by the customer? This end up being the case! When I checked the bill the female server said as I raised my query as food already being consumed for a portion, therefore I had to pay for the Chirashizushi ! No apology for the whole mistake being made by the server! The whole thing seem to me was mistake of customer’s end! I would say there’s lot of outstanding Japanese restaurants in London (Zuma being one I had visited twice and would recommend gals to try instead of this Hannah restaurant). I come not only for food but whole experience including service atmosphere and hospitality. If you want to pay for the price for mistakes made by the restaurant, then go ahead to this Hannah restaurant! I will never visit and will advise my friends and social media fans not to as well!

Incredible restaurant, great food, service and decor. Unfortunately sat a few tables away from a very loud customer who ruined the ambience.

We recently hired a sushi chef, and the experience exceeded all expectations. From the first course to the last, every dish was a work of art—both in presentation and flavor. The chef's skills and attention to detail were immediately evident, as was his dedication to using only the freshest, highest-quality ingredients. His ability to engage with guests and make them feel part of the culinary experience added a unique, personal touch. Hiring this sushi chef was one of the best decisions we made, and we highly recommend his services for anyone looking to elevate their dining event. Truly exceptional!

Robo baja y mala comida. Un fantástico entorno.
