Really disappointed with our visit. My wife is a big sushi fan, so I booked a table for lunch for her birthday. On arrival we were told a couple of things were off the menu, that’s fine, it happens. But when trying to place our order for sushi, we were told they aren’t doing sushi today as the chef hadn’t turned up for work… I asked when he might be in, and we’re told that he hadn’t responded to her text… this is appalling.

The service was poor, we were the only customers there. There was no pork, chicken or duck available, and this was the start of lunchtime. When our lunch arrived, we were not given plates or soy sauce for the sushi. The young staff were stood talking to each other and not really there to meet & greet or make customers feel valued. I went to the toilet, the corridor was pitch black and you couldn’t see what door led to the ladies’ toilets. I had to push the door open to see the sign on the door hoping it was the ladies’ toilets. There were 3 cubicles, one was out of order, one was available and one was dirty, with an overflowing bin and tissue all on the floor. The men’s toilets were out of order. We asked to take some food away and they didn’t have a box to put it in so it was wrapped in cling film. Very disappointed as our meal was quite expensive but the service and facilities were very poor. My recommendation is to stay away. My only regret was if we had read the reviews beforehand we wouldn’t have gone there.

Whilst the waitress and barman did there best to welcome us this was ultimately a hugely disappointing visit and I would not recommend to anyone. The plates on the table were greasy, so much so that gunk accumulated on my napkin as I wiped the plate. We ordered miso soup which was cold, it looked like instant which they had then dumped fridge cold tofu into with no other prep. The wagu bao buns were shocking. Essentially a big mac. We ordered rare and got well done brown and dry all the way through. Limp lettuce. Grim … Squid was okay but one small plate was not enough to redeem and overall poor performance from the kitchen staff. The bill totalled £40 which felt like daylight robbery after such dissatisfaction. It honestly felt like no one cared what they put down in front of us.

Love japanese food and me and my boyfriend thought we would try it out. Unfortunately we were super disappointed. Walked inside and they had drill music playing, Aitch, because of this we decided to sit outside lol. For drinks I had a glass rose (they only had one on the menu) and it tasted like a cheap zinfandel and it was meant to be pinot grigio, super disappointed. 175ml was 6 pounds. My boyfriend had a cocktail "tokyo ice tea", was far too strong and we usually love strong drinks but this was a bit extreme. This was 12£ I had a donburi bowl, which i have had in other places and really enjoyed. However it arrived cold and lacked flavour. It was 12.50. My boyfriend had "wagyu" bao burger, definitely not worth 8 pound. I will say the crispy squid was nice but super over priced for the portion size when it's listed as a "sharer" on the menu. Overall we were super gutted and we were pained to pay the bill. Staff were lovely so it was such a shame. Would not go back in a million years.

Rudest staff I have ever come across. We ordered a bunch of different items the chicken teriyaki noddles were amazing BAR that the rest was horrid. We sent back a cold, unseasoned, tasteless prawn tempura to be told no refund as that was our opinion! Are you kidding? Yes exactly correct it’s my opinion, I can’t eat the disgusting dish it comes off the menu simple! I have never been told that and considering our bill was 150£ the fish should have come off. The manageress then had the nerve to ask if we wanted to leave a tip. Shocking, rude, in need of serious customer training. Good luck but I will never return back.

They cook the skewers in the kitchen now instead of allowing you to cook it yourself at the table. Generally overpriced and there was little atmosphere.

Out with friends looking for group supper. This is a street packed with pubs and places selling a large variety of food. I broke away and dodged the heavy rain to look in here. Checked one of the menus and actually came into a large airy colourful room where someone tucking into multiple dishes with maybe four children asked if I needed help. I explained, he said he was a happy regular, he highly recommended it all and almost coaxed me into trying some of their main plates from which I could already catch the wafting flavours. It smelt and looked great but then a gruff hand from behind pulled me back, it was one of my mates to tell they’d got a table in a food pub a few doors away and there were pints bought and lined up . He could see how I felt but he said ‘too late, come another day’. And we will! This restaurant has a good vibe and a loyal following. Suits all ages.

I went here with a friend for a lunch break while visiting Bristol. It seemed quiet but we didn't realise that there were two other rooms, so it would be great for a group or a large party of people. Service was great, despite the fact that we couldn't use the QR code to order or pay. Staff were really friendly and didn't mind explaining the menu. We both chose the Sunflower bento box which turned out to be delicious. I've had Japanese style food from chain restaurants but this was so much more flavourful and different. I'd definitely go there again the next time I'm in Bristol. As an aside, I love the washbasin in the ladies!!
