Great food, huge portion sizes could have shared pancakes between two. Super delicious. Ordered the breakfast stack and the strawberries and Nutella - both great options.

The food in Kai is absolutely great! We were recommended by friends to come for brunch and it was an excellent decision. The pancakes are so yummy but the portions are quite large! The menu was small enough that it wasn't overwhelming but also large enough that there was plenty of choice Only downside was we were seated right next to the door as only certain tables were available for 2 people and it got a bit cold with people entering and exiting

I had a "breakfast stack", it was delicious and huge, I couldn't eat anything until dinner that day. Warm atmosphere. Friendly staff. Good options for lunch. No bookings available, you may have to wait to have a table. It was quite busy on Monday morning but we had a table for two. I will definitely go again and even take my guests there.

First time coming here and it was great! I had the Eggs Benedict for lunch. The atmosphere was nice and it wasn't too busy so the overall experience was good. I'll definitely be back soon to try one of their American pancake options!

I didn’t try the food, only a latte. It was rich and smooth. I popped in 30 minutes before the closing time and was warmly welcomed. They don’t have any snacks or cakes because they serve serious brunch, which I’d love to try next time. The overall vibe was calm and peaceful. Outside the peak hours, it can be a great spot for reading or studying quietly. There are electricity sockets here and there too!

I ordered French toast and I really did not like it! It smelled like EGG! and I couldn’t smell any vanilla or cinnamon. Im totally not going back!

Amazing place, portion size is good value for money

It was my wife's birthday today & so I wanted to treat her by taking her for breakfast at somewhere nice. After reading many good reviews online I decided to take her to Kai-Brunch. Place was nice & clean, atmosphere looked & felt good when we walked in however it took a very long time to place an order. Eye contact between customer and staff was almost non-existent, had to keep stopping & asking staff for sugar with hot drinks, table was wonky & had to move to another table after one became available. When we finally placed our order for food & drinks we had to pay immediately in full before receiving any items which was very odd. When I asked for a receipt for my payment for our order, I was advised we could not have a receipt right now but one can be emailed to us. This just did not sit comfortable with me, on any other day we would have left the place. As it was my wife's birthday we stayed. Food took a long time to come after receiving our hot drinks by which time my coffee was cold. My wife ordered a tea and the wrong drink was presented to us so she had to wait a further 20 minutes at least on top of the current wait. Once the food arrived it was really nice, however service and the time taken for the food to arrive since placing an order was not good at all, it was pretty poor. Personally, I thought the staff working at Kai's could do with some serious customer service training & the staff training needs to include attention to detail with engaging with its customers.

Great place for breakfast. Usually always busy. Food is always tasting fresh and big portions too. Just wish they had more options if anything. Great place.

The price of the food is reasonable as the sizes are quite big. Food was good too. Luckily we didn't have too wait too long for a table. Our table was quite close to the door therefore everytime it was opened it got quite cold.

Lost a customer but they don’t care nor I. Food is great. No booking system and prefer to have empty table than seating fewer people. Go at your own peril but there are other places around equally good.

3rd time I had a unpleasant experience, the food is good but service terrible, Second time they were understaffed so waited 45 minutes to have my oder taken( ended up leaving) Today I had my order taken (over staffed 6-7 customers inside) earlier waiting 24 minutes for royale ( poached egg with smoked salmon) Ended up leaving to catch my train not being issued a refund or anything… If you are looking for a place to starve to death before your order is taken or after you got it.!

came here the other day with my friend during our lunch break the way we were treated was so unbelievable it was upsetting. The waiters treated us like we weren’t paying customers. Ordered way before most of the people sat around us and hadn’t even received the tap water we requested whilst people that ordered after us were already eating. We asked to move seats as we were crammed in they said no as it’s for bigger groups…two people walked in and were seated there. We were there for over half sn hour no drink or food our break was ending we called over a server who just said ‘your food is coming, yeah’ and walked away before we could even ask our question. This experience was so disheartening we could barely enjoy our food that was meant to be a birthday meal. This happened 6/12/23 around 12:08AM we left around 1:10 and we got our food at about 12:58 so you can tell how fast we had to eat and how hungry we were.

Really cute cafe. Clean and cosy. Lots of choice for breakfast. It's so nice to have something different to the normal greasy fry up. Vegan friendly. I had the pancakes, they were as big as my head :D Worth every penny. I couldn't finish them though... ha ha ha! Ordered quickly and food was fast. Staff are so lovely :) The only bad thing about the place was it was a bit cold in there.

Diffidently an amazing experience. Highly recommended. Although we have been there every early but they where out of strawberry.! However, the quality of food and size is outstanding

Incredibly busy venue, so be warned! I still dream of their Red Leicester cheese and bacon pancakes. Always a great time. Reasonable pricing for somewhere that’s blown up as much as this place has.

Specifically went for their Eggs Benedict and loved it. A perfect egg Benedict depends on the quality of Hollandaise and the hollandaise here was perfect with a creamy texture and accurate level of acidity. The sauce provided a nice glossy finish to the egg which was poached to perfection - the yolk was runny and not overcooked. The bacon was nice and crisp. The bread was toasted nicely as well. The presentation was enticing. Overall, I'd say it's the perfect place if you love Eggs Benedict.

Normally I love this place, food is great but on this occasion service was terrible as people who came in after us got there orders and served before us, the portion sizes have decreased compared to last week when i was here and service was great then, but this time my coffee was cold by the time I received my food.

Super busy on a Saturday morning. Pancakes and food look good but taste slightly bland. Is good for a little morning meal though. The worst part is the drinks though, hot chocolate? More like water with a bit of cocoa powder. Chai latte? More like spices mixed in water with a bit of foam on top.

Another positive experience at Kai, every time I’ve been here the food has been nothing short of outstanding - the option to have brunch all day is always a sign of a good place to eat!

Really disappointed and offensive tbh.... went in for breakfast and asked to leave becuase we had our daughter in a push chair. We offered to leave the pram outside and all sit together but was told no and we would need to leave because they could not put a high chair inside or wait outside for an outside table... bearing in mind it's 6 degrees and she is 1.... Absolutely disgusting behaviour tbh. A million other ways it could have been handled and clearly not interested in being a family friendly place. Wouldn't bother tbh.

Nice coffee, good food but very noisy with quite loud music upstairs. Nothing attractive from environment/decoration point of view.

If you want the best breakfast then head here! I had amazing Eggs Benedict and my Husband had a Breakfast Stack. I also had a side of the Breakfast potatoes. All came beautifully presented. The coffee was delicious too. All the staff provided excellent service. Well worth a visit.

The BEST avo on toasts i have ever had! You get a very good portion size and it taste delicious. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, it is always very clean. Its super busy on the weekend so get there early but you wont regret it :)

Literally the best place for brunch / lunch in Leicester city centre. Love the savoury food and the pancakes and the coffee is good too.

I had the pancakes with hazelnut chocolate and strawberries, my friend had smashed avocado on bread (I think). We also had the smoothies that were available as the ones we originally wanted, they didn't have them. It was very nice food, the staff were lovely. And the way they took orders, served you and pay for your food, was so very thought through. We did go at a very busy time and the food was quite expensive. They were very big portions too. But if you can't finish it all, you can ask the staff if you can have a takeaway box and they will give you one to take home and eat later.

Underwhelmed to be honest. We went on a Thursday late morning, got a table straight away, waited ages for a menu and to have order taken. We ordered regular cappuccino, apple juice, eggs Benedict with extra toast, French toast with strawberries and for our son, poached egg on toast. Eggs Benedict was nice, French toast was overpriced for what it was, it was nice but nothing special. I suppose I was expecting more of a slab of brioche but it was rather 2 small slices of brioche loaf, French toasted (I suppose watching brunch reels has left my expectations ridiculously high?)The egg on toast was absolutely smothered in cress, you couldn’t see the egg for the leaves and the butter on the toast tasted sour. We also didn’t get the Apple juice until after the adults had finished eating, despite asking 3 times. This meant that our son couldn’t keep eating because he was thirsty and then left half on his plate because it had gone stone cold. I liked the menu choices but wouldn’t rush back there and wouldn’t choose to pay over £10 for a bit of French toast. Atmosphere? Not much to say for a Thursday morning. It kind of felt like sitting in a school canteen. The upstairs and loos seemed a bit grotty. I can imagine that weekends are a bit buzzier but I would not queue to come in since like most things that are hyped up, it simply didn’t live up to the hype and just goes to show that people are willing to gush about something that is nice and ok, just because they are told it’a amazing.

I loved the food but felt rushed by the waitress. It was busy and there was a queue outside, but still I wanted to finish my coffee without people asking "have you finished?"

Every time I come back to Leicester I always come to Kai- the pancakes are INSANE and the portions are huge. Even though it sounds like a weird combo, I would recommend the cheesy bacon pancakes. Only downside is this place isn’t as cheap as it used to be but still decent prices.

Nice place let down a bit by the quality of it’s ingredients. There’s nothing wrong with a limited menu but it means you have to do everything well. The eggs weren’t great quality and the orange juice was budget concentrate. When charging £2 for a glass of juice at least make sure it’s decent quality. These issues are very easily remedied though.

KAI does brunch, and it does it well. It's not a large place and it can be busy, but the friendly staff will try their best to find room. And it's worth waiting for - cute decor and chilled atmosphere (lofi included!) makes it a great place for a low-key brunch. And the food is amazing. Maybe the best pancakes I've ever had. And the french toast was delicious too! Wouldn't hesistate to come back, and the prices while not cheap feel reasonable given the quality of the food you receive. If I had to find something to criticise it would be the bathrooms - two simple rooms that are identical in function, so why gender them? Just put "toilet" on both, and it'd make it simpler for everyone.

I have visited Kai so many times and always loved it, recommended it to so manc people but on this occasion the service was beyond terrible. When our food arrived one of the orders was incorrect so they took it back (leaving me with my food, meaning we either had to eat separately or I wait and eat cold food).. the order came back, wrong again. I also asked for some sauce at this stage for my food as I had to start eating it but the sauce never arrived. The waitress then came back with the incorrect dish and claimed they would not change the order a 3rd time and it WAS what we ordered, the waitress was beyond rude and kept repeating its what we ordered and she can show us what she wrote down? - it most definitely was not what we ordered as we ordered EXACTLY THE SAME food, one with extra lemon. We were so so shocked at this service. However a superior did coke and apologise and offer complimentary drinks, which was great service from her but unfortunately the whole experience was just extremely unpleasant. Such a shame as I have never had a bad word to say about Kai.

If you enjoy soggy pancakes drowned in syrup with mashed up soggy bananas and some heated up forest fruit then KAI is the place for you. Surely maple syrup should come in a little jar where you can pour it over your pancakes yourself? I don't understand the hype because the pancakes were dreadful, with some cut up bananas and frozen forest fruit that were heated up. That was such a waste of my money. The chairs are so uncomfortable, the place is crowded and small. I'd rather spend my money in Dolci or Heavenly Desserts where I know I'll get quality food.

Popped in for breakfast on Sunday, nice atmosphere, was busy so definitely popular. The wait for our food wasn't too long and looked and tasted great.

Lovely place within city centre. We had Egg Royale. Service was quick. Presentation was good. It was jam packed and people were waiting in queue. This speaks volumes of its quality and popularity among Leicester people. Would love to come back to try something new.

Pancakes with strawberries and Nutella are the best!

Ordered scrambled eggs with avocado. When it arrived it had seeds on the top. I told the server that I had a seed allergy. I was told that it was written on the menu at the bottom that some plates may contain garnishes. She said “sorry mate, that’s what it is”. Subsequently told her I can’t eat it as I don’t fancy an anaphylactic shock. No care given. Will not be returning.

A staple in Leicester these days, famed for their brunch menu. The issue however is the waiting time, both to get a table as well as for the food afterwards. Sometimes the pancakes I usually get are heavenly but other times are overdone/burned a little. The hot chocolate is great but I’ve never had a nice coffee here. I will still visit now and again but they need a booking system I believe.

Really angry with you today Kai’s cafe !!! Came especially for pancakes for my daughters 7th birthday all she wanted and you was closed !!!! No notice on your website and a very unhappy birthday girl !!!!! I shall change my review for 5 star when I’m not angry with you !!!

I had the vegan pancakes and iced coffee. Service was good but the pancakes were way too sweet and the coffee was standard.

Very good food! Nice welcome, buzzing atmosphere. Music interesting and very much in the background which is nice. The pot of tea was quality our waitress was lovely, interactive and helpful.

I discovered this all day breakfast spot after conducting a Google search for brunch. We got the florentine and Benedict eggs, but substituted the sourdough toast for pancakes. I wish the server had informed us that the pancakes she would be serving were sweet rather than savoury, as we had believed. The poached eggs were a little overcooked, I believe I will inform them if I return. The turmeric tea was delicious, and the overall food quality was acceptable.

Food was decent, I had the Royale - Egg Benedict with Salmon on Sourdough and a Bloody Mary Service was decent - Will go back to try the pancakes as they looked amazing.

Usually love coming here but on this occasion our meal was taken to the wrong table. The waitress then proceed to offer us the meals the other dinners has just talked over for a good few minutes. This was shocking especially given the current pandemic! After asking for the food to be remade we were met with attitude, where as the table who were given the wrong meal recieved countless apologies and complimentary drinks. Shocking service and a disappointing visit.

Very poor service. Waited for 20 minutes outside then had to wait another 1 hour inside at the table! Never coming back. Turns out the waitress hadn’t even put the order through so we were sitting there like mugs being patient not wanting to hassle the staff who clearly looked overworked and rushed off their feet. The young lady who welcomed us was friendly. We asked her if it was possible to have a smaller portion for our 20 months toddler and she said it won't be a problem. We have been asked to pay even before we have been served. Which is very odd. We then realised they served and charged a regular meal for our son and when I asked about it to the other lady who served us, she said they can't serve a smaller portion for kids. No kids friendly then.... I just wished I would have been told beforehand. The latte was ridiculously small. Never again, obviously.

Food generally good. However, today food over chilled and not worth the 40 minutes wait! Slightly galling when table next to us had only been there for 10 minutes and received their food at the same time. Staff always polite and cheerful but timings need to be better.

Amazing place. Has got great vibes and the food is delicious and presented really well. I catch up with an old friend every few months and it has been a tradition to always meet in KAI because the staff are really friendly and it is such a nice clean environment. Only negative feedback is that they put too much syrup on the pancakes and it becomes soggy very quickly. I guess it can be because I am a slow eater, haha!

What an absolute gem. Food was plentiful and even managed to get a prosecco cocktail...it was my daughters 21st birthday!. Would 100% recommend a trip to KAI, don't leave it to late though as tables are very much in demand. Other customers must feel the same as we did then 😊

In my opinion this place is a bit over rated. The menu is very limited and the food quality is average. Not bad but not amazing. I ordered the banana and peanut butter pancakes. What came out what 3 plain pancakes with a dollop of peanut butter on top with chopped banana around the plate. For the price I was disappointed. No syrups were offered. End result was the pancakes were very dry and hard to eat. Staff were not the most friendly when approached as well. Avoid the hype and disappointment and go somewhere else.

They serve very good brunch and breakfast food, which are usually delicious. However, the wait times for this place is very high especially on weekends. Sometimes you have to wait in a queue outside to be seated. All would be solved by an online queue system which would allow people to wander around town and come back when their table is free. However, due to lack of organisation in allocated table and no booking system I avoid going here, even though i love the food, the wait and hassle is just not worth it anymore!

This place is a must if you’re a local or visit I get Leicester.I had the eggs Benedict with bacon snd it was the best I’ve ever had. Eggs perfectly poached, homemade sauce sooooo delicious and soooo much yummy bacon. I can eat a lot and I struggled to finish it. Quick, friendly service. Prices so cheap for portions and quality. We arrived on a Saturday morning (without a booking) and were seated immediately which was great! It was super busy and the tables were very close together which (in the middle of a pandemic) didn't feel totally great. We ordered and were asked for payment immediately, (which felt a little strange and awkward), it then turned out they didn't have what I ordered, and there was a price difference with what I ended up ordering which then caused a faff with giving us a refund and charging again. The coffee was delicious, but our water glass had a weird smell, can't describe it - just not pleasant. The portions are HUGE and the food was nice, however my avocado and poached eggs came with loads of seeds sprinkled all over it, (which wasn't on the menu), I'm not allergic (thankfully) but I absolutely cannot BARE seeds and nuts, and I especially look out for "garnishes" like these, I'm pretty shocked they don't explicitly say on the menu item, that the dish has seeds on, especially as sesame seeds are a huge allergen, apparently on the menu in the bottom corner they mention it, but it really should be more obvious. Overall it was okay, but it was rather pricey and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I visited here yesterday and the service was so poor. If you have kids and a pushchair, just don’t visit here because they can’t accommodate for you. We ordered avocados on toast with poached eggs, the toast was hard. Food wasn’t great and nor was service. When I asked if they had baby changing I was told no, as they usually send people in the upstairs food area to change but that was occupied. I was then told I can go and change my baby on there bathroom floor upstairs. How disgusting? Who even says that. If you can change £8:50 for a basic breakfast then you can definitely affording a changing area. So disgusted, won’t be going back here. Save your money and go elsewhere where they will be accommodating. Absolute disgrace!

Great for vegan pancakes - just annoying to queue everytime cos it gets quite busy. Else absolutely brill!! Also think one of the staff members were new she took our plates without asking if we were done, and also asked if our food was okay then took our cups with tissues without asking again..

Firstly the tables are so close to each other it had like 20 cm gaps. I ordered royale toast with salmon and poached egg and latte, I asked my latte with my food they said they can't do that, my latte came in a water glass and obviously it was cold when food arrived, the food took exactly 40 minutes. Food was nice but the toast bread were burnt and it was so hard to eat and cut. The price are high but it's reasonable for a popular place. The girls were so nice to customers and they were polite.

Fabulous brekkie! Huge portion of avocado and (perfect) poached eggs. Such a shame that we had to pay first though as no verbal feedback at the end of our meal - left me feeling as though I wasn’t trusted and nobody wanted to know whether I liked my meal.

Love kai, love the chilled vibe and music. Food portions are great and prices are decent. The food itself is delicious and the hot drinks are wonderful although they removed my favorite almond milk - bring it back! I enjoy eating here a lot but there is room for improvement. Improvements: add more variety of veggie options to your menu, invest in some central heating because its always freezing in your cafe, improve upstairs because its not that welcoming and its cold, (nobody wants to ait up there) bring the menus back as using rhe QR code is annoying, improve your customer service I waited about 10 minutes to catch the attention of staff to order food AND bring back almond milk and the cushions ❤

Very welcoming staff, and great service. The pancakes were perfect and so were the eggs. Great value for money. Only thing I would change is that I prefer to pay after I have received my food. Would definitely recommend.
