The best Chinese food in London , the staff is so friendly and professional. Child friendly place , they took care of my 9 months old baby while me and my husband enjoyed our dinner , and they even prepared a special meal for him which was really kind and he absolutely loved it! They also brought the cutest birthday dessert. All in all it was a magical experience that we cannot wait to try again! Must must try!

I was aware that Kai does not have a star anymore so I went for the afternoon tea with my expectation adjusted. Still the experience was pretty good. The food was good, not exceptional, but they still put thoughts into it and the portion is very generous. They even do a refill on the savory dimsum. The concept and deco were very interesting and well thought. and it’s comfortable to sit there and chat for a few hours. The only thing is that I wished there would be more space between tables so I could spare some tea from all the others 😂 The service downstairs during the afternoon tea experience was very attentive, individual and patient. However, when I entered the restaurant I had to wait for a while because the reception was not occupied for some reason and although waiters passing by noticed me I still had to wait to be greeted when they the receptionist returned from downstairs. that was a bit chaotic. Also when I tried to make my reservation, the online portal didn’t work so I sent an email and got a reservation for the wrong time 😂 again, a bit chaotic.

The most AMAZING food i have ever eaten. Went for my boyfriends birthday lunch today & totally blown away by the food ,the restaurant & the staff. What an incredible experience. Its mind blowing all the tastes & textures we experienced. Cant wait to return. Thank you to everyone there.

We had a wonderful time at Kai. It was surprisingly very empty but perhaps it was too early for dinner for the locals. The steamed sea bass was delightful. The sweet and sour pork was a bit tough but flavorful. Service was spot on.

What a treat of a find this was. A voucher for a top end afternoon tea establishment started the London Birthday weekend planning. On searching the local area, up popped the afternoon tea here in a review. Those few photos sold it, clicked the website, loved the whole unique concept and booked without looking at the price. Well, I'd like you to book in this blind-ish manner because what you'll discover is as near to Alice going down the proverbial rabbit hole as you'll get! It was enchanting, beautiful, delicious, unique, the list goes on, a world away from the every day. I adored all the lovely little details, service, washrooms, location, atmosphere. Would love to do it all over again and have recommended it many times and will continue to do so. Thank you Kai Mayfair for making my Birthday amazing. Oh, and when the bill came, I was pleasantly surprised. Just book it, you'll not be disappointed, and it'll show that special guest/recipient just how much you appreciate them. It beat the top end voucher location hands down!

10/10 would recommend. At first, I assumed I wouldn’t enjoy the atmosphere as much due to the funky interior, but it grows on to you by the end of the meal. The service was excellent- Boris our manager was really kind and made our stay very comfortable, taken care of and special. He truly knows what a hospitable restaurant entails- I Michelin star service. Food was equally Michelin star quality. One of the BEST food I’ve had in london in ages. I loved the flavor of every dish; salted to the right point; spiced to the right point; just gorgeous. Particularly, the soft shell crab was A1 quality. Juicy, tender but crispy…. How???! Next shoutout goes to the Nanyang Lobster. It was a good portion size and a generous mixture of all kinds of seafood- for its price, when the wasabi shrimps are 43 quid, it’s feels cheap. Not too loud, just the right amount of music (I think they were playing lofi which really set the mood) and allowed us to have a chill conversation without music interrupting. This is the type of restaurant a Michelin star endorses. Immediate credibility given to Michelin and Kai Mayfair. Looking forward to visiting for the afternoon tea!

I booked the Chinese Whispers afternoon for Mother’s Day and was left highly disappointed by our experience. The service left a lot to be desired. We had to request extra cutlery and plates several times. The server advised that we would receive an extra plate of savoury food and to request this when we were ready. About 5 minutes after serving our initial plate, she asked us if we were ready for the second. We hadn’t even started the first! It felt as if they were trying to rush us in and out. We were also crammed into one small area very tightly and the other side of the restaurant was completely empty. It would have been much nicer to be spread out and have more privacy. The food was nice but nothing special. I was also extremely disappointed to see that the tea was not loose leaf and was tea bags. Typically I wouldn’t mind but considering this is one of the main components for an afternoon tea it was pretty rubbish. Some of the teas even had supplement prices (up to £8 additional) which for a tea that is not freshly brewed is not sufficient. We were also given one tea bag in a pot for two so it was extremely weak. When I asked to remove the service charge at the end of the meal (due to the poor experience), the server didn’t even ask why or press us for more details on why that was and if we had enjoyed the experience or not. The concept of the afternoon tea was great but the team really missed the mark here and they did not deliver. For the price point this is definitely far less than a Michelin Star experience as you’d expect. Save your money and try another afternoon tea in London.

Amazing food and amazing service. A must to try.

One of the wonderful experience I made every-time I visit London. All about this place is good the food the place the service no single mistake you can catch. The price a little bit higher than others but you will pay happily after you enjoy every pit in it.

Al llegar la parte delantera de la casa no era exactamente acogedor , la comida estaba fría y tenía que ser enviado de vuelta y no mucho más caliente cuando regresa , tamaños de porción diminutos. Y muy caro y nada especial. No volverá y asumir que no se molesten por la competencia en otros restaurantes de Londres que entregan mucho mejor comida y servicio. .

Only went for the afternoon tea, the service can vary from time to time, but most of the times is good. The afternoon tea only happens downstairs, depends on the day, it can get super busy which means you are sitting right next to other people. With those said, the food selection is awesome comparing to other traditional afternoon teas in London.

It was a spur of the moment. Walk-in kind of moment and oh .. oh my I was blown away. The staff were very kind to accommodate walk-in. We had a quick bite the calamari and the wasabi prawns. Still dreaming about them. Waiting for my next trip to London to go again

A friend and I went for tea. This is definitely NOT a traditional high tea but it IS an amazing experience. High tea with an Asian twist. The experience was excellent and certainly in keeping with the restaurant's standing as a Michelin star restaurant. I highly recommend The Chinese Whispers Afternoon Tea at Kai.

Qué decepción que reservamos para el almuerzo del domingo 23 de febrero nos ofrecieron una mesa a las 2. 30 . Llegamos nos llevaron a nuestra mesa pedimos una bebida cada uno y pedimos nuestra comida a las 2. 45 . El camarero volvió para aconsejarnos que toda nuestra comida llegaría a la mesa al mismo tiempo, entrantes, pato crujiente y gasoil mientras la cocina cerraba a las 3! Cuando pregunté por qué hicieron una reserva para 2. 30 si la cocina cerró a las 3 no había respuesta. Así que nunca tuvimos nuestro almuerzo, ya que no queríamos todo a la vez y que se apresuraran. Pagamos por nuestras bebidas y nos fuimos. Habíamos estado realmente deseando nuestro almuerzo ar Kai La dirección debe dejar de reservar un 2. 30 sentado.

The service is excellent. The food was okay; it wasn’t wow! But I would say it wasn’t worth the price. It was very expensive, and the portions were very small. However, that's typical of these kinds of posh restaurants. You can try it once for the experience, but that's about it.

We celebrated our anniversary with a Chinese-inspired teatime at Kai. From the very first moment we were amazed. The ambience of the restaurant lets you turn yourself in another world. The place exudes a high level of professionalism! For us, dear Izabela (that was the name on our bill) was in charge. We felt in good hands with her. Charming and always with a smile, she fulfilled our every wish to our complete satisfaction. For someone who comes from the same industry, it was a feast for the eyes to watch doing her job. That was the best teatime I've ever had. From the welcome drink to the very good champagne to the excellent selection of tea, everything was perfect. The cake stand was lovingly stocked and not only did the look impress us, but the taste was just as breathtaking. Tea and treats are refilled as needed. At the end we were given a small petit four plate with the inscription "Happy Anniversary", which we were incredibly happy about! I could say a lot more about this restaurant, as there is so much more to praise. Unfortunately we didn't have as much time as we would have liked, but this experience was unique. We will definitely stop by again on our next visit to London (where we will take our time). An absolute must in London!

I walked into the restaurant and was warmly welcomed by Izabela. My friend couldn't join me at the restaurant, so I dined alone, but I never felt lonely thanks to her amazing hospitality. A big thank you to KAI management for having such a wonderful employee!

Fine Chinese cuisine at this elegant restaurant in Mayfair. The environment is very refined with real touches of class in the dishes that decorate the table upon arrival and in the decorations on the walls. The menu is very interesting and everything is tempting. The starter prawns were excellent and the crispy duck was fabulous. There is room to taste the sweet and sour pork, very good. Wine by the glass with a good choice of adequate level. The service is very efficient, fast and kind. Only the sommelier is not an example of sympathy. Truly remarkable dinner and marked as one of the best Chinese cuisine restaurants among the many tried.

A great pace to have dinner! The food was amazing and the staff just one of a kind!!!

Kai is an experience. From the moment you walk in, the attention to detail, the small touches, the art and artistry is breath-taking. The food, however, is not as good as I expected considering their prices. The £39 Wasabi Prawns and £26 Prawn Toast were quite average (I've had much better at other Chinese restaurants in Mayfair). I was actually disappointed by the Spring Chicken with Szechuan Spicy Crumble which lacked any distinction, while the Black Pepper Beef was just decent. We also ordered Broccolini and Chili Spiced Rice, which were as expected. Considering the reputation and prices, the food, while presented beautifully, was just not that interesting. But for the desserts, which were unexpectedly outstanding. I would just go back for the Durian Souffle (which I wouldn't have ordered if our server had not sung its praises), and the amazing Pandan Creme Brulee. Again, the prices are sky-high (£21 for each dessert) but here, I can totally vouch for the quality and uniqueness of the flavours. Finally, the service - this was just as brilliant as the ambience itself. We had Isabella at our table and she was a delight from start to finish - extremely well-versed with the dishes, very confident in her recommendations, and just a lot of fun to talk to. She's a total gem. I'm glad I got to experience Kai, as it has a wonderful feel to it (and the desserts were quite something) - but I don't think I'll be returning, as the flavours and quality of their food just doesn't match the prices. It's extremely pretty, but the food is quite average.

It was such a fantastic experience!!!! It felt like a lucky charm for me and my friend. We went for the afternoon tea and found the vibe was super cute and loving and the food was just as delightful! We even ordered an extra plate of savory treats (for free). We left feeling so full but completely satisfied. Perfect for a date or a fine-dining gathering. I’ll definitely be recommending it to my friends!

Amazing meal and impeccable service. Highly recommend the Wasabi Prawns, Lobster Lobster (noodles) and braised pork belly. Desserts were also delicious. Every dish was presented beautifully.

As we were leaving Kai after a lovely lunch the head waiter was telling us that, since Star Wars had been filmed in the UK in the late 1970s, Harrison Ford and other cast members had been visiting when in the country. Ford had actually been there the day before we went. If Han Solo himself likes it there who are we to argue? For our lunch we had a starter, main and dessert each, a rice each and a portion of vegetables. Our starters were the stone bass miso soup and they were tremendous - salty and spicy broth with slivers of ginger and hefty chunks of fish. I had the pork belly for main which was equally delicious and perfectly soft. The creme brulee dessert finished the whole meal off wonderful. Kai has a nice relaxed vibe and very good service - though there was a slight issue with the last bit of our wine being accidentally thrown out before we were served it. This was noticed however and we received a replacement glass each and some petit fours as an apology. We loved our visit to Kai and would definitely eat here again. Hollywood royalty Harrison Ford clearly knows his stuff.

Fake Chinese food. The dishes are all different and nothing delicious. If you have any self-respect, don’t spend a lot of money to experience a different place.

Tomamos el té de la tarde aquí para el cumpleaños de mi marido, reservamos porque nos encanta la auténtica comida china y el té de la tarde tiene un menú encantador. El servicio aquí es excelente desde el momento en que llega. Nuestros abrigos fueron tomados para nosotros y nos mostraron abajo a la hermosa zona del salón de té. Nos encantaron los pequeños entrantes de conversación y las decoraciones de mesa, la cerámica es súper bonita. ¡Mi único puntero sería una iluminación un poco más brillante! Realmente disfrutamos de nuestra comida, y el hecho de que los dos tienen una segunda ronda de las opciones saladas fue excelente, lo más destacado fueron las gambas en tostadas y los deslizadores de Bao. Los macarrones con crema coagulada fueron mi postre favorito, realmente disfruté de las mini botellas de ingredientes para elegir! Esto me tomó un tiempo para marinar la voluntad de escribir la crítica... ¿Por dónde empiezo? Breve historia larga - la comida era buena y el restaurante puso un giro innovador en la comida china (kudos al chef), pero el servicio dejó mucho que desear. Ventajas: El pato crujiente que pedimos era crujiente, sin embargo, no estaba seco o difícil de masticar, incluso no todos los restaurantes chinos auténticos pueden dominar esta artesanía. El cordero también fue espectacular y si me permiten ser atrevido - el mejor cordero que me han presentado en mi corta vida. Sazonado perfectamente y tierno. El postre también fue delicioso, pandan crème brûlée? ¿El chocolate crece en los árboles? Muy creativo y atrevido y se jugó. Desventajas: Nos sentimos muy decepcionados por el servicio. Desde el momento en que entramos fuimos descuidados, incluso en una noche relativamente tranquila tuvimos que perseguir al personal de la mesa para despejar nuestras mesas (ambos somos individuos muy pacientes). Incluyéndome a mí teniendo que pararme e ir a una caja para perseguir la cuenta después de esperar más de 20 minutos. La gota que rompió los camellos de vuelta fue cuando el personal se olvidó de sacar todas nuestras sobras (en retrospectiva también tuvimos un papel que culpar, ya que nos olvidamos de perseguir, pero estábamos ansiosos por salir). Hay demasiadas cosas negativas que escribir sobre el servicio que no puedo encajar en la revisión...

Enjoyed a wedding celebration here. Great service, interesting and delicious drink and food menu. We had the best time. My only criticism would be to turn the music down as it was overpowering when trying to talk.

Always a favorite when we come to London. The duck is delectable and there are vegetarian options as well. I'm personally a huge fan of their appetizers but every course is excellent and the service is exceptional.

Overall, Kai Mayfair offers a unique twist on the classic afternoon tea, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something a bit different from the traditional experience.

I heared a lot about this place till I decided to try it myself and it was WOW. Food is absolutely tasty specially the black pepper beef and prawns gem. We were served by the friendly Nicolata whom was always smiling. I'd strongly advise chosimg this place for dinner as the food is tasty and light.

Me and my partner wanted to have a pre Christmas lunch as a special celebration. Regrettably the food was very average, nothing special and definitely not a Michelin star quality. I had the sweet and sour soup and a vegetarian dish with Aubergine both highly recommended by the waitress. They both had the same broth with exactly same taste. Very disappointing. Very gluey, really not good.My partner had two starters the salt and porter squid and the soft shell crab. They were midrange but nothing special. The only good meal was the Chilean lobster dish but it was massively overpriced at £50 for the amount of lobster you get. Overall very bad value for money. I do not recommend it.

Habíamos reservado Kai para un almuerzo de cumpleaños. Nos pareció la bienvenida y el personal muy atento y acogedor. Conocedor del menú. Bonita mesa y no me sentí aplastado. Disfrutamos de las gambas wasabi y el pato medio crujiente, pero estamos abrumados por los otros platos que tuvimos. Fue todo sabroso, pero no excepcional y no me pareció que valía la pena el precio muy alto. Hemos tenido mejor comida china en establecimientos mucho menos caros.

An afternoon tea with a difference! This menu was unique, Chinese treats galore. Not a sandwich in sight, but delicious bao buns, miso soup, prawn toast and heavenly interesting deserts. So different and definitely worth the visit. The staff were all friendly and helpful throughout the service. I'll definitely returning for a lunch or dinner in the future.

Have to say, I went in with medium expectations but left totally blown away. Firstly the food is very good, to the extent I would bring my Cantonese parents here on their next visit to London. Wasabi prawns are their signature. These were plump, luscious prawns in a creamy wasabi mayo but without any of the heat. The black pepper beef and the Nanyang chicken were our fave dishes though. However, the standout of our experience was the fantastic service. A massive shout out to Ivan and Boris who looked after us today. So attentive, really helpful with the menu, and incredibly kind offering us dessert to celebrate my birthday. Really positive servers who made us smile and made my birthday weekend! Thanks again.

The worst customer services ever! The host Nicolita and the manager Wayne are both rude and not welcoming, he kept on repeating that we are late for the reservation although tables were empty and it was already the last seating time, he allowed two walk in groups after us.

The Ambiente of the restaurant is cozy and nice. The menu has multiple options, the taste of the food was in total good but the reason for a star is missing. Nothing spectacular. And for a Michelin-star, I expect excellent service and not the attitude that I experienced today.

The lunch experience was awesome, the service by Thomas was fantastic, very attentive and nice! By other hand, the meal was really tasty and the timings of serving were just perfect. The manager, Wynn, was very kind with us and give us a very warm treatment, like friends. We highly recommend the restaurant for enjoy Chinese cuisine with hard origin roots and very interesting improvements with modern influences. My congratulations to the team.

I do not understand how this restaurant continues to receive a Michelin star year after year. The food is simply ok with the service being borderline abysmal. No attentiveness or anticipation of what the guests need at the table. Food is just dropped off with no explanation and no flow. The flavors are in no way unique and for the price point, it’s embarrassingly bad.

Michelin one star Chinese food Curious about the Chinese food in London, The soft shell crab and hot and sour soup attracted me at first, but the more I ate, the more I ate, and I felt like I wasn’t full but I didn’t know what to order. I can’t say it tastes bad, but I always feel that something is missing. It doesn’t have the hot pot flavor and flavor of Chinese food. It tastes like Western food, which is too soft and uncomfortable to eat.

The food was good! the wasabi prawns, pork belly, duck etc.. quite good. the dessert superb! decoration was fun. but that’s it! food was constantly late, service was not good at all, atmosphere but boring. Just not what you get in other Michelin Star restaurants

Came here to celebrate my partner and I’s anniversary and we had such a beautiful dinner here! Didn’t know what to expect as the reservation was kept as a surprise for me but from the moment we came in the staff were friendly and attentive, and I remember the vibe of the restaurant being fun and modern. The food was amazing, we got the soft shell crab, pork belly, broccolini, and ginger and sesame oil fried rice - all of which were my favourites of the night and I highly reccomend. We also got the salt and pepper squid and lamb chop which were also delicious and worth getting too but didn’t stand out to me the way the other dishes did. I don’t reccomend coming here and not getting a dessert though because the fun Asian twist on French desserts like the durian and salted caramel soufflé, and pandan and milo creme brûlée with coffee ice cream are so fun and delicious and really stand out compared to the other similar desserts I’ve had at other restaurants. Overall a really lovely time thanks to the delicious food and really lovely staff here, especially the amazing woman whose name I never got but she wore a green suit and was always fun to chat with whenever she came to check in on our table.

Extremely welcoming and made us feel at home for our special day. Expertly crafted dishes and a dessert menu that took us back to SEA. Highly recommend the garlic friend rice and umami greens.

The best Chinese to date! From start to finish I cannot fault one thing. We will definitely be back .

Dining at Kai was a treat, with several standout dishes. The sweet and sour pork was the best I’ve had—perfectly balanced in flavor and texture. The open bao appetizer was fantastic, and the coconut mango and durian ice creams were a memorable end to the meal. The cocktails were skillfully made and added to the experience. However, a few items felt overpriced, especially compared to other high-end spots. While the abalone, cocktails, and even plain rice didn’t quite justify their price tags, the overall quality and unique flavors make Kai worth a visit.

We keep returning to this amazing place. A bit on the pricey side for a vegetarian, but excellent in every way.

The restaurant does not seem up scale enough to warrant the high prices - I would do some research and find a better option. Food and service were medium to good but I didn't get the experience to to value the place. It was also quite noisy which I hoped the restaurant could control but they were unable to.

Kai Mayfair offers a pleasant atmosphere and decent food, but it falls short in both value and service. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken, which was crispy and nicely done, but the Wagyu dish left me disappointed. The portion size was tiny, especially for the steep price—definitely not what you'd expect for a one-star restaurant. The service was also lacking. Our waiter seemed irritated when we asked several questions about the menu, which dampened the overall experience. For the high prices, I was expecting more attentive service and better value. Overall, it wasn’t a terrible meal, but for what you pay, I expected a lot more. 2/5.

Kai is a very unique restaurant it is not only beautiful but also the staff and the food are outstanding and because it is not part of any brand or chain everything is absolutely amazing and we have been dining at Kai for over 20 years and it is still the best restaurant for ambiance, service and most importantly the food thank you for the memories
