Junkyard Bottle Shop & Pour House in Nottingham

Visited on a Saturday afternoon with friends to kick off a birthday celebration around a few of Nottingham's pubs. Personally I’m not a fan of craft beer but it was even more disappointing to get the choice of around 10 pale ales and 2 stouts, nothing at all in the “bitter” department. I did try one IPA and it wasn’t a good experience. Worse however were the prices, which were “craftily” displayed on the board for a 2/3 pint measure, so most were around £4.50 - but that’s almost £7 a pint, crazy prices! It was very busy and a good atmosphere, so not everyone was put off; but for me, I’d never choose to go here again!

Terrific, hidden gem of a craft beer bar. Carefully curated tap selection and a vast array of options in cans and bottles. Interior is tastefully minimalist. Friendly staff as well!

Love Junkyard, being a regular spot we visit for beer. Visited 3rd Jan and decided to have some food there for the first time. Big mistake! We ordered a few small plates, but they forgot the chicken wings. We said we still wanted the wings so they cooked them and brought them out. They must have rushed them, as they were still raw in places! I know meat on the bone can be pink the closer to the bone it is, but there were bloody in places! Thankfully we noticed, spat out the first mouthful and left them. They didn’t smell good either!

Amazing selection of beers on a constant change to match anyone's tastes. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Service was amazing. The atmosphere is very welcoming.

It's not the cheapest bar in the city. The staff are pleasant and knowledgeable. It's not the easiest place to find,but worth the effort

Sat in here right now, omg what an absolute gem of a place. Cheese board and meat board is another level. 100 percent recommend this place to anyone. Loved it all. Will defo be back.

More missing off the board than on, advertising drinks of higher alcohol than they are, staff rather chat than serve. Had to butt in to a conversation to order, far more important than profits

this bar has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are friendly but what brings me back is the drinks. signature cocktails and delicious home brewed pickle backs. Need more! love this place

Easily one of my favourite bars in Notts. a hidden gem if you want somewhere off the beaten path, but still in the centre. This place got me into craft beers. The staff are SUPER knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming. A lovely outdoor area joining on to the sister bar Herbert Kilpin. Don’t like beer? Amazing cocktails on, and off, the menu, a decent selection of wine, and a regularly changing food menu.

Always go to Junkyard when in Nottm, I usually drink cask (which they don't serve), but I'm partial to a saison, gose or farmhouse ale, which I can't get in Grantham except at my own pub, it's awesome to try different beers from the best breweries in Europe

Great beer, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Food was pretty average. Not bad. Just not great. The menu was great and the prices reasonable. Bread on the hotdogs dry. I'd he back for a beer 100%, but probably try somewhere else for some food.

Fantastic selection of ales and other drinks served by really down to earth people. The platters are amazing! Really worth going to this quaint establishment.

Tucked away in a courtyard in the Lace Market, this is an excellent little bar. Superb selection of beers on tap with even more choice in the fridges. Staff always helpful. Lovely little beer garden too with some great music.

Great once we got inside. Initially , met initially with an indignant barman who I felt told me off for entering an open door with an opening time on it which meant we could go in. Told quite sharply when I queried it they haven't opened at 11:30 since COVID. (I'm not a regular daytime drinker) No apology, just a defensive attitude. Just note I was with my wife and two kids, looking forward to celebrating my birthday with food and good beer. Felt like not coming back, but it is a great pub and the food is really nice. So I did come back and had great beer and food served by another very friendly barman.

It can be expensive but it is worth it for some great beers and they always change. The staff weren't too chatty on this occasion, but it has a lovely ambience. Would happily recommend and a favourite in Nottingham!

Really impressed with the attentive service - a member of the bar could see something wasn’t right with our order, and without hesitation came over to rectify it straight away! Brilliant service! Would definitely visit again, couldn’t fault the staff, service or drinks at all! Great night, thank you :)!

This is now Rudy Napoli Italian restaurant, fantastic pizza, and middle of Nottingham. By far, my favourite pizzas outside Italy.

Outside is a little loud when the gig right by it is on.

Popped in on accident, on the way to a different event. The place was packed, so clearly popular. Selection of food is limited but enough for everyone to find something they could eat. Mainly burgers, fish fingers sandwiched and that kind of pub food. Service was friendly. More sitting area upstairs of the place looks busy at first glance.

Always the place to go for a beer or two when in Nottingham. Great choice of craft beer from around the world, decent bar food and a great atmosphere.

Junkyard and Kilpins share the front courtyard and rear seating area, but are totally different bars. Junkyard is a craft beers bar whilst Kilpins is a more traditional pub selling cask beers plus an excellent selection of continental beers. The food choice is small plate, tapas style and burgers. Well worth a visit to both.

Possibly the best craft beer bar in Nottingham, nay the East Midlands, nay the freakin' world man!

Update: stopped for a quick bite and a beer. We had 3 starters, the lamb kofta, artichoke and halloumi. All were delicious and what trio of food, I recommend trying all three together. I have upped the star rating to 5 now, as the food was delicious and the staff were great. Previous review: Nice spot. We had lovely vegetarian food, and there was a nice looking meaty options to. Always a great selection of beers, so plan plenty of time to try them all. I would definetely come back here.

It's OK if you like overpriced Craft Beer. Prefer the main bar in the Kilpin, but I think that says more about my age then anything negative about the bar

Visited on a Friday evening for beers and small plates. Fantastic range of beers, ales, IPAs (of course) but the quality of the food was what made me write this review. Creative, tasty and with a wide selection of fresh ingredients we absolutely enjoyed every dish we ordered. Fun atmosphere with a young crowd and the staff were very friendly and efficient.

Best beer selection in Nottingham, with the friendliest, knowledgeable staff, and the food is just incredible. They rotate the beer AND food menu often, so you never get bored of visiting.

Cracking pub tucked away in a side alley in the town centre. Great rotating selection of craft beers with a strong focus on sours and stouts. Lots of space indoors and out.

What can you say about this place, from the leader nigel, to boss terina, staff are so incredible, specially Julio lucy and Amy whose customer service is incredible amazing choice of beers in junkyard, with it's sister next door being a more European, Belgium bar, if you need different beers this is the one

Wonderful selection to choose from and friendly staff too. Highly recommend as there is something for everyone. Get a seat if you can !! Layout could be better

Nice selection of well kept craft beers. If it wasn't so expensive I would easily give it 5 stars, so good to drop in for a small taster. Staff seem very pleasant and friendly and the food menu looked very tempting!

It's a hidden gem in the city centre! The beers on tap are quite fresh and you could feel the hoppiness in some of them. Def recommend!

A must stop every time I visit Nottingham. Plenty of choice (15 taps!) Not to mention a nicely stocked fridge. Great relaxed atmosphere.

Very cool up to date bar, very welcoming and epic selection of not just beers but all drinks one could want to enjoy getting nicely merry.. Staff are very professional.. Location is in buzzing part of town but tucked away on quirky off street lane which makes it feel like a discovery.. Plus beer garden for us smoky joes.. Please try this place out! Of you like real beers then this place is an ace one to go, length of selection and regular guest ale and changes make it a regular haunt for people on Nottingham who like their beers

I had been told about junkyards new food by many people saying how good it is - WOW! they were not wrong. 'Good' is simply an understatement. I was so excited by the menu, every dish is outstanding in their own right, however they also go together perfectly if you are with a big group and wanting to share. We ended up ordering the fennel twice, it was seriously that good! You can tell whoever is behind the menu has put some serious thought and care into it. GO THERE AND EAT !!! (They also do an amazing variety of beer)

What a lovely little haven of fun, great beers ( sold by the 1/3 if required) friendly and helpful staff , above average bar food ( chocolate brownie is to die for ).

First time in since post pandemic, great range and quality of beer, service was quick, music was good, atmosphere was great. Bit on the pricey side, but you definitely get what you pay for.

This place has become one of my regulars. The selection of beers on offer is always intriguing and the staff are all wonderful. However, the food is sublime here. The menu does pub food well with a menu that changes each month and lots of interesting small plates. The fried chicken with pickle mayo is to die for!!!!

Love this place, always make a point of dropping in to try whatever they have on tap, this time I had a plum porter (good for one.... Little sickly for more) and a couple of coffee stouts (fantastic!). Great ambience and atmosphere, love it here.

Good selection of beer but pricey. It is a place to do beer tasting. Choice of draught beer could sometimes be better, majority are ales. A 2/3 of a pint is usually around 4.50.

Great selection of ales. Didn't try anything else so can't really comment. Great atmosphere too but that's probably because I was there.

The best small plates in Nottingham. Quite a bold statement considering the competition in Nottingham, but right now (September 2022) there's nowhere I'd rather go. They have just got a new chef and they have really elevated the menu. The courgette with whipped feta, warm honey and pine nuts is amazing. I had it two days in a row. Also highly recommended: crab crumpet, tempura cod tortilla and the halloumi. I've been coming to Junkyard since it opened and love the place. 10 - 12 craft beers always on and always 3 or 4 of them you'll get nowhere else or ever see again. Crazy 12% marshmallow imperial stout, fruited gose and everything in between. The staff here are really friendly, service is fast and there's always a great atmosphere. Junkyard shares its lovely covered outside space with the Kilpin which has a great range of European beers on draft and in bottles. A visit here could easily see you try more beer styles than most beer festivals! (Burgers are pretty good, but not as good as the small plates)

Brilliant little bar with amazing beers.

Very good little pub. The 2 ladies that were running were very friendly, helpful & informative. The little courtyard was a sun trap at midday. A good selection of kegs beers (15 taps).

Good atmosphere and selection of drinks

Still one of the best bars in Nottingham. Always delicious and interesting options available on their taps, plus a vast array of delightful can and bottle offerings in the fridges. Cocktails are also lovely if you don't want any beery goodness. Foodwise there are some nice sharing boards and plates, or regular main meals available. Perfect for a light bite or a lunch/dinner visit. Whatever you fancy, do yourself a favour and pop in. If you don't leave having had a wonderful time then you are probably beyond help!

Having drunk in this establishment since it opened, the bizarre new policy of 'no tasters' seems at odds with drinking craft beers. Possibly the only place in Nottingham with this policy?

Haven't been for a long time. Just popped in during a shopping visit to the city centre. Still just as good as we remembered. Plenty on choices of beer on tap and also to take away. We sat outside as we had our grandchildren with us, and we bought them soft drinks. Whilst there others were ordering food that looked very nice. The team were very friendly and helpful 👍 We must go again, this time much sooner. Would recommend to all.
