Lovely real ale and pork pies! The live railway station departures board is genius for anyone waiting for a train!

Great addition in Nottingham beer places. First time visitor. Great location very next to station, welcoming vibes, attentive staff and good service. Excellent range of craft ales on taps and more verity in fridge. Plenty of seating on main floor and in basement.

A great pub near Nottingham train station. This small Castle Rock pub has a great range of lagers, craft ale and real ale. The pub also hosts live events.

Nice atmosphere and very convenient spot. I love that downstairs is on the canal! Some nice beers (mostly Heineken) but the paninis are really tasty.

Decent beer and staff but sitting in the basement makes me feel like I'm a member of the Fritzl family

Really poor service - paid £14 for an imperial stout but wouldn't let me add points to the Castle Rock app afterwards - I had just forgotten that I had it as this was my first time in this particular bar. The bartender did not ask me if I had the app before I made payment and then refused to refund me and take the transaction again - something which could easily be done. I'm assuming this is company policy as the staff member flat out refused and became very defensive about it and had been quite friendly before I paid. This is an extremely poor way to treat loyal customers who use the app - I would have happily bought some beers to take away but didn't because of this.

Paid £4.40 for a pint of soda and blackcurrant cordial! Should have been informed it was coming from a bottle and that I'd be paying premium prices.

I like this place but it's a bit pricey, definitely one for the artisan beer fan though, loads of beers in cans for sale to drink in or take away. Really friendly staff as well.

Always seem to have a good cider on and useful for when I have a wait to change trains at Nottingham Also very helpful when I left my rucksack there once. Cheers

Can't rate this place highly enough,if you like real ales and different kinds of craft beers this is definitely the place for you, friendly staff and good atmosphere makes for a great experience, with the added bonus of comedy nights down stairs🍺😂

Warm and welcoming. Excellent range of craft beers on offer. Draft, cask, bottle and can. Seating either on the ground or basement floors. Really relaxed and cozy.

We attend the comedy nights held here on a Thursday. Nice venue, no lift to the basement where the comedy night is held. No hot drinks served.

Easily the best craft beer bar for as soon as you step off the train. Beer is always on point, brilliant social hub and train times on screen inside. Well worth a visit!

Excellent Castle Rock chained Micro craft rather than cask pub/bar. Nice atmosphere and good selection of craft from a variety of breweries.

Great range of interesting ales and beers, including some real strong ones, friendly staff, often stop in here before my train. Edit: I realised that I liked this so much I'd ended up adding their Instagram and Facebook, and then I realised I missed not going to Nottingham regularly anymore, and one of the reasons is this place, if you like beers and want to go somewhere different, definitely go to the Barley Twist; the staff know their stuff and I have had some special beers here, real corkers, one day I'll find an excuse to go back to Nottingham (beer alone is not enough).

Visited May 2019. Great place for craft beers. We came here several times on this trip. A definite stop again next time in Nottingham. Lighting not good for interior photos.

Had my engagement party here was wonderful staff were fan. Beer is a little pricy but it's right near the station and they accept camera card discount

Amazing beer, carefully curated, and a fantastic, vibrant atmosphere. Would highly recommend. Slightly more expensive than other locations, but well worth the price; after all, you get what you pay for.

Went in with a friend and asked for a chocolate stout, when we drank it it was like vinegar,we complained it was off and did.not have any hint of chocolate both bar man and management had a taste and said it was ok and was supposed to have just a hint of chocolate and not a full flavour. We asked for something else which they told us we would have to pay 10%towards the drink,we left and will not be going back.

Excellent selection of craft beer and lager. They regularly rotate the selection which is great if you like to try new things. Staff are friendly and accommodating.

If you like wooden floors and beams this is the place for you. Olde worlde theme for modern times. Good selection of wines and beers, cosy downstairs space and seating area on pavement to front of venue. We'll placed for a quick bevvy before a train journey with a train departures and arrivals board in the main bar.

I really love this pub. Great location just down from the station. Very neat setting with a few tables upstairs, a little bit of circulation space and then more room downstairs. Excellent range of beers on draft from the little bar and strong range of cans and bottles too. Staff are very friendly and always happy to help with you beer selection. Good discount offers for your "train beers" if you're in a rush. Definitely recommended.

A real gem I just happened to stumble across when early for train. 4 Yonder beers on tap, plus Northern Monk and Verdant. Will be early for train next time I'm in Nottingham!

Great atmosphere inside this little place. The basement has plenty of seating if upstairs looks a little busy. There's a huge range of beers on tap and in bottles and cans. They also sell a wide range of spirits, wines and cider for those of us who don't care for the recent craze in craft beers.

Loved this pub, bit off the city center, but bags of character. Staff really welcoming and friendly.

So you have entered the Barley Twist building. You will find yourself among some trendy and slightly well off parent types, they could be anything between 32 and 64. They will be sipping their (not the house white) wine, beer (with hop on the pallet and slight barley overtones) or pink gin (long gone the days of a good old-fashioned #bainbridge GNT). There is seating on the street level and if you don't want to people watch and at the same time don't suffer from asthma you can take a seat in the basement's comfy trendy car boot sale armchairs and chairs. A good place to meet your friends and a drink, I love it here very much.

New addition to the Castle Rock stable, a micro pub near the station in Nottingham. To be honest it felt a little lifeless, but we were there early on a Saturday lunchtime, so it probably gets a lot busier. It only struck me while I was in here how far beer is trending towards the barista coffee experience - soon beer-flavoured beer might be a novelty !
