Very pleasantly surprised with amount of choices on evening menu. Lovely starters, sides & main coarse. Staff very friendly. Breakfast offered many different items to suit everyone. Very nice. Would definately eat here again. Nice large seating area to suit all.

Horrendous, table of 6 for 3 course dinner. Started with them forgetting to serve 2 out of 6 of the drinks but ok we moved on. Requested child meal came out as soon as ready in fact came out last. Ordered the children’s pizza was served half a larger pizza that had been cut before cooking and was rock hard down the cut side, impossible for a child to eat. The sides dishes were wrong and then forgotten for 20 mins. Adult meals, fish was cooked to death, burger were dry and grey and chicken was hard. No one asked if we required a second drink or was the food ok, but we was offered a soup starter as a side with one of the main meals. When we asked to speak to the manager we was told he was to busy (he was making drinks in the bar!) amazing in an half empty restaurant. The duty manager instead finally arrived and we asked what was in the mushy peas as they tasted funny and had an odd smell, he had no idea, and when asked to smell them for his opinion he even declined at the smell, and this was food we were expected to eat!!! Appalling, sums up the whole stay!

Excelente servicio, personal. Comida bien preparada y presentada. Sería agradable tener un poco más de variedad. Tal vez más platos de pescado?

Very pleasant helpful staff with great service (small problems handled very well and very attentive) The a la carte menu is a little limited and generic, and over priced. I preferred the hotel bar menu but the restaurant is a more refined setting.

Poor food. A shame for the coock that he can present this trash for the custommers. Pasta was prepared with tons of cheese on it. Vegetables whenby dryed out under de warming lamps. Even the meat wich was looking like piece of hard paper. There whas rice. But al prepared on less than the minimum wich you may suspect from a coock.

As a business traveler i do stay a lot in hotels and in most cases i am trying their restaurant. I was surprised that a restaurant inside a Holiday Inn will be that poor. Maybe it was the choice of food, but i must say i din not enjoy that at all. Starters of crab cakes and salmon was very good, but the main dish was poor. Salmon with mixed beans, spinach and yogurt. very dried taste with the Salmon being the main ingredient not standing out. The only thing that i can give as an excuse is that the hotel was in full capacity and preparations must have got them doing to many things at the same time

We were staying at the Holiday Inn for a local wedding the next day. And had a table for four for my family. Before we had ordered a couple of older family relatives came to the restaurant and we asked if it was possible that they could join us. This continued for the rest of the evening.... until we had a table for fourteen! The waiters dealt with our ever growing table and some of my families fussiness with such friendliness and patience. The food was great too. Would highly recommend.

Polar opposites of the last 2 times we have eaten here while stopping at the hotel. This time the staff were visible and helpful, but not intrusive. There wa a large part in the function room and we thought that restaurant users would be left as poor relations , not a bit of it though. Tom and Chris stood out as excellent . Well done. Breakfast has also improved somewhat, but there is a way to go as powdered egg that is still powdery is not good, as is cremated black pudding. Excellent staff can't make up for that! Back to the evening food though. Perfect cooked steak on 1st night and a good selection of food on the menus including the kids menu. The chorizo and canary potatoes was brilliant as a starter . The meatball starter on night 2 was also good , but the icing on the cake was the steak and ale pie that was actually a pie not a dish full of runny gravy with puff pastry on . Chocolate brownie with ice cream for dessert , and this was a slab of brownie , not a pret a manger size brownie ! I do wonder why holiday inn don't have a national menu though as I couldn't see some things I had had earlier this month at another of their hotels in the midlands. ( not allowed to review that as was on a work trip)

Used to go to the holiday inn quite a lot when it was 241.and always enjoyed it, but the last time we went it wasn't 241, and I have to say I wasn't impressed.we went in a party of 16,and they did run out of a lot of things eg .veg, and desserts. Anyway went again this Sunday with our family, just 5 this time, and we really enjoyed the meal, it was lovely, well cooked, and really hot.atmosphere was great, and the staff really really good, the lads waiting on us couldn't do enough, really impressed will be going back for sure. Thinking if taking all the family back. . The only thing I would say,is that the drinks are very expensive. But hey lif you are out for meal. !!!! Also have stayed at hotel after a Christmas dinner, and enjoyed it .

A lot of the other reviews are quite old. Went for a family meal. The food was lovely - a wide selection. Even had a oriental buffet option which I choose - it was superb. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Used our taste card to for 50% off! Was a compete bargain and five stars when you take that into account. Will definitely be revisiting.

Nope still as bad as it was in previous years . Which is a shame as the restaurant lets the rest of the hotel down.

I booked on Thursday 31st July for a table of 4 for Sunday lunch as it is both my parent birthdays in August so it was a treat. On arriving early we decided to have a drink before lunch. There was no-one to serve us at the bar so my husband had to find someone. A girl just said I will be with you in a minute as I am busy. Not good really. Anyway we got our drinks and sat down for a while in the bar area. 10 minutes before our booking time we decided to go into the restaurant only to find no booking was made. How embarrassing for us as this was a treat for my parents. Anyway they asked us to wait in the bar while they made up a table. Not quite sure why a table had to made when there were plenty already done anyway we did as was asked. We were informed that it was a carvery and that we could help ourselves. We waited a good 5 minutes for a chef to appear to serve the meat which was prompted by the man on the restaurant desk going into the kitchen. Not once did anyone ask if everything was ok during our meal. I thought this was standard practice. Also I had to ask the staff (I won't call them waiters as they didn't wait on us) for a sweet menu which we decided not to have in the end. Overall the food was the saviour but the service was non-existent. You really need to get your act together.

We visited the Holiday Inn for a Sunday carvery in order to treat my wife's parents. We booked via phone a few days before, but were a little surprised to get a call from the hotel to confirm our booking on the Sunday morning... after confirming yes, we still required our table, it became apparent why they were checking. We'd booked for 4 of us, yet somehow the person taking the booking had made note that we were a party of 44!!!That misunderstanding aside, we actually had a decent carvery lunch there. There was a good selection of starters (I had soup, the others had hors d'oeuvres) and the mains provided an ample portion of meat and a self service selection of vegetables and Yorkshire puds. About the only downside was that there was only 1 type of gravy for all meat selections.Whilst we would have been a little disappointed had we paid the full price (around £18), with the hotel offering 2 for 1, £9 for 3 courses was completely acceptable and could be classed as good value. There was nothing fancy about the meal, just a pretty good roast.Would happily go back again, provided the cost is still that low, oh, and if they turn the heating up a little (it was a bit chilly in there).

The staff here could not be more helpful and friendly. We regularly eat here on a Sunday and whilst this is not fine dining it is excellent value with very acceptable food. Vegetables are obviously fresh (not frozen as the previous reviewer thinks).

We ate in the carvery yesterday - a party of 14. Mediocre does not even descibe it. The vegetables were obviously frozen and the selection was miniscule, the roast potatoes were hard, cold and dry, the beef overcooked and dry and the customer service non-existant. The whole meal was tasteless. We even had to queue at a till for 8 minutes at the end of the meal to pay. You spend that much money and they make you walk to the till and wait for the privilege of handing over your hard earned cash. Very young inexperienced staff. Not their fault, but training is clearly not a priority. At a guess, this is catering to a demographic who would traditionally not complain, so don't bother if you want a decent meal. They know their market and they take advantage of it. It wouldn't last a minute in a city centre location.
