Brilliant hotel, lovely staff, clean fresh rooms, pool, lovely bar and everyone is so so friendly. There’s also a petrol garage and a beefeater basically opposite.

So impressed with the level of service for dinner and breakfast. For dinner, the waiter staff were professional and friendly and managed to serve quickly with delicious food. Ben and Josh were brilliant there! For breakfast, the staff are wonderful also! Everyone is friendly, helpful and efficient. One person in particular was Julie at breakfast who remembered us, was funny, friendly and so helpful with our requests. They handled the busy breakfast rush very well. Food was lovely and hot and we will definitely be returning!

All the food tasted nice. Staff were lovely. Apparently kids eat free although our bill seemed higher than expected but because it was on tab we didn’t pick up on this until we left the hotel so not sure if it was correct as the receipt wasn’t itemised.

Didn’t actually stay - made a booking on line with booking.com - mistake with date actual date required was 12 August but date booked was the 9th sept. Unable to change date, money taken £45 but £55 to cancel. So be warned if booking accommodation with booking.com. The hotel rejected a request by booking.com for refund due to genuine mistake.

Went here last night for our Christmas work function. The staff were amazing, very freindly and attentive. The food we had served was pretty average though. The turkey was nice, not too dry but the dessert was far too sweet. Overloaded with cream and sweetness, it would have been nice if it was a smaller portion. Overall the food was ok.

This restaurant in the Holiday Inn is just average. I tried the fish and chips (a whole fish fillet!) which was good, the steak pie (awful) and later the rump steak. The latter was OK but the peppercorn sauce was outstanding! Service both times was good. They have a very weak beer selection, very boring. The wine, either glass or bottle, is way over priced. If you don’t want to leave the hotel this place is OK, many options on the menu. Not much value here in my opinion.

Very limited choice on the menu, prices seems more expensive than normal, service unbelievably bad, tables left uncleared despite customers asking on several occasions, food took over a hour to arrive, when it did it was barley hot on some plates and well overcooked on others. All customers seemed to be complaining on the night we ate here, not just us. Staff just didn't seem to know what to do, wandering in and out but ignoring customers trying to get their attention. Never again.

This was the second time that I'd visited The Holiday Inn for a large group meal and I was really impressed by the food again. Considering that we had a large party, the quality of the food and the service from the staff was excellent. I wasn't particularly looking forward to my vegetarian option of walnut and blue cheese tart but it was actually superb; it was home made, hot and tasty. The roast potatoes and veg were equally good. Whoever is in charge of the kitchen is very good at their job! Service at the bar was also excellent with very good wine :)

We were here for a family gathering and had a private room. The staff were very good and quickly dealt with any queries. The carvery was good although there was a shortage of desert which didn't affect our group too much but there were other diners eating later than us who might not have got any! We would like to pass on our thanks to the chef who made a risotto as a vegan option, it was so nice for our daughter not to be offered a stuffed vegetable which seems to be standard in other places we have visited. - the risotto was delicious and appreciated.

I normally prefer not to eat at my hotel, but if you can't be bothered to leave this hotel and drive, then the restaurant is totally acceptable. The staff were friendly and professional. The food was well-presented and tasty : not what I would call 'haute cuisine' but good standard fare and no complaints whatsoever. A good selection of dishes at reasonable prices.

We visited here as part of our Holiday Inn weekend break. Nothing was too much to ask for the staff. It was my sons birthday so on our first night we reserved a table that had balloons ready. The staff also bought a slice of cake singing Happy Birthday too. The food was lovely & cooked well. There were also a few Trainee staff members who tried their best too (James). There's a fair selection of food on the Dinner, Bed & Breakfast menu however there are other options if you're not booked on a package. Breakfast was nice, buffer style. The only downfall would be that service was a bit slow. Other than that, it was great. Thanks Sue for making my son feel special.

Its true that there isn't much ambience in the restaurant. Not very busy and the service is a bit slow. However the staff were (mostly, not sure about one young mardy bloke behind the bar who waited tables too) friendly and nice. The food we had was way past our expectations. We had the sharing charcuterie platter - fab (the chorizo was mind blowing!!!)The pork and prune terrine was good and the cheesy garlic bread was oozing, hot, garlicky and crispy - perfect! We had burgers, fabulously chargrilled and juicy. French fries hot and crisp. Simply great. Had many of same dishes in the second night as so good. My burger was tasty but a bit over cooked, still the meal was well worth it. Mixed grill was lovely. Would definitely eat here again, if we were staying.

We had booked for B&B/em following a tortuous trip from Belgium. We arrived a little late around 20.30 and there were about 8 people in the restaurant almost finished their meals,We were shown to a dark part of the restaurant where we asked if we could be allocated a lighter position. We were shown to a table that had been used and not cleaned. It was obvoius that they didn't want extra diners as they were busy setting up the tables for breakfast, Eventually we were offered a menu and we needed to ask for drinks. My soup was warm and tasty. We both had burgers and they arrived looking decidedly unappertising and over coooked. The attitude of our server was unbelievably bad and we had words. That sealed our fate and the rest of the meal was a right off.We felt obliged to share our disappointment with the management who made all the right noises but no tangible acknowledment of bad food or service. Will avoid in future

Due to that we stayed at the hotel, we decided the second night of our stay to eat at the restaurant Junction.Well, basically we regret it.Service was not attentive enough, though the restaurant was almost empty (why?)The food (steak) was ordered medium-rare, and came in medium-well done, but there was no waiter to complain to, so I ate it.Comlaining afterwards is bad, but the waiter just said OH.Food was almost French (meaning the quantity), only the chips were in sufficient quantity.I also expect for a dish that costs 19 GBP that it comes at least with a small salad.Vegtables had to be ordered separately, so at the end it was an expensive dinner. Not a good impression for my businesspartner.

I attended with my husband an Association dinner. The room was arranged in round tables of 10. There was plenty of room to accommodate the 8 or 9 tables but they all appeared to have been placed at one end of the room so that there was no room to move between them and waiters had to continue to ask guests to move so that they could serve the meal. The food was awful. Rubbery tough lamb with very little gravy. We were told that the mint sauce was in the gravy but there was no taste of it. We had to ask and wait for mint sauce to arrive before we could attempt to eat it. Most plate were left with lumps of unbeaten meat. The starter was a couple of strips of smoked salmon, a teaspoon of dill sauce and a few leaves of rocket. Th e pudding, a slice of cheesecake and a tablespoon of thick cream. I would equate the meal to a poor quality cafe meal. If I had been served with it as a hotel guest I would have complained and refused to pay.

My husband and his work colleague are members of the hotel gym so get a discount on the food. We thought we would give it a go one work day lunchtime, so it was them, me, my sister and my 17 month old. The restaurant was pretty much empty when we arrived, and we were found a table (right under a very cold air con vent). They had a highchair which was good. We ordered from the A la carte menu. Food took 35/40 minutes to arrive, and that was after we had chased it up twice. My sister enjoyed her pie, husband and colleague thought the hunters chicken was nothing special. My quinoa salad with feta, salmon(for which I paid extra), rocket etc arrived. without the quinoa. Glaring oversight there. Chased it up, and a bowl of quinoa got brought to the table. would have been nicer to get it incorporated into the salad like it should have been. My son's meal was ok, your average kids fare. Food was expensive, even with the discount, and not great value for money. what should have been a quick hour's lunch turned into 1 hour 40 minutes. I doubt we will return when there are a couple of better pubs near by.

Having previously had an acceptable meal here a while ago, we decided to risk Sunday lunch. What a mistake to make!We pre-booked to make sure we could be accommodated but on arrival to an empty restaurant we need not have bothered about that.A pleasant server welcomed us and informed us that the usual Sunday menu was unavailable but a 2 or 3 course carvery was.The "starter" was cold sliced meat and salad! I have never, ever come across such a poor range or quality of options. It turns out that soup could have been available but no-one thought to tell our server. The dinner plate was the smallest I have ever seen: the size of my hand. The choice of meats was pork, tough beef or fatty lamb. Yes, you are right; no white meat! All the meats were cut using the same knife: talk about cultural insensitivity, let alone food hygiene. The veg was mixed so if you disliked the taste of one, the rest was tainted. The yorkshire pud was fine but the criminal act of undercooked roast potatoes was committed: not slimy but hardly seen the oven, not one was crispy. The standard sauces were available for the meats. However the one family who came in after us didn't even have the choice of pork! The sweets were a simple affair of fruit salad or profiteroles or cheesecake. At least no-one could ruin these.Drinks were incredibly expensive.I think this restaurant has fallen into the trap of cutting choice, quality and costs. This has sent them into a downward spiral as less people want to eat there.I know for a fact I could not be dragged in there unless there was a dramatic improvement in choice and quality.A poor show, Holiday Inn.

Had one of the worst meals that I've had here recently. Ate Sunday lunch in the main restaurant - restaurant was almost empty and I should have realised that this was not a good sign. Food was bland, tasteless, unappetising fayre which took an inordinate amount of time to arrive. Service was relatively clueless although they were trying (but try as they might they still didn't know what they were doing - close to 10 minutes to serve all the mains; no new cutlery for the mains; leave all the unused glasses on the table etc). Bill was expensive and wrong; in fairness though this was sorted out quickly.Got home and one of the party was violently ill a few hours later; of course this could be completely unrelated but you do wonder sometimes. Overall I would not eat there again; simply awful and incredibly disappointing.
