Amazing wedding- friendly staff, delicious fresh food. Shout out to Carly the wedding coordinator, who was running around all day to make sure the day ran smoothly and checked in with every table to make sure all guests were ok- she even joined the bride for a boogie in the evening- a credit to the Judds Folly!! One star down due to no sofa bed in room or bedding, few cobwebs in bathroom- however staff were quick to apologies and get a temporary single bed in our room later that evening. Fresh breakfast in the morning and the manager Jason was on hand to replenish food. Very well presented and a choice or teas were clearly labelled. Fresh fruit, pastries, cereals & full English were available!! 5 star wedding all round!!! Thank you Jason and team for making the wedding perfect for our family.

We were staying at the hotel so booked the restaurant for convenience. However, the meal was wonderful. I couldn’t fault any of it and we regularly eat at 5* places. I had the salmon and it was faultless. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the food freshly cooked. The only surprise to me was that it was not fully booked as you do not have to be resident to eat there. If you’re looking for somewhere to go for a very nice meal, give this a go.

We booked in for afternoon (high) tea based on written recommendations from others. Based on the price of £25 pp we were expecting a high class experience in lovely surroundings. What we had was a table in a bleak, depressing bar area that smelt of stale smoke (possibly wafting in from smokers outside). It was just so far removed from the nice hotel dining room we were expecting that it was almost funny were it not costing so much. There was no one else around and we felt utterly out of place and miserable. The tea was just a pot with tea bags, no loose leaf. The food itself was just okay although the scone was very small, there was no clotted cream only whipped double, and the cakes weren’t great. There was also no fruit skewer as advertised, just 1 strawberry. I would say it was highly overpriced, and not somewhere to go if you want a special experience. Mostly let down by the surroundings and atmosphere which were more akin to a holiday camp bar. I’m still really upset that we paid £50 for this.

We attended a family birthday meal on a reduced group menu. The staff were very attentive and helpful but the food portion sizes were appalling. My meal was priced at £14 and consisted of 2 small chicken thighs, two mouthfuls of mash, 4 tiny carrots and 1 piece of tender stem broccoli. The rest of the party had similar issues with the Beef Bourguignon which contained very little meat. It speaks volumes that after a three course meal people headed to drive thru’s and shops for food. It was really disappointing.

How fantastic it was to be served delicious, fresh homemade food by caring and capable adults (rather than untrained, unsupervised teenagers that places so often inflict). The team were superb. They made it feel like we'd come to their own home for afternoon tea.

I thought I was at Fawlty Towers. The service was apalling - we had to chase our drinks order and then waited over 20 mins. to even get a menu or an explanation about the buffet. In fact one of our party had to go and ask and then we only got one menu between eight of us. The carvery was OK apart from raw broccoli spears. They were certainly not al dente, as I could not even get my teeth into them. Also the battered fish batter was soggy. The desserts were tiny and the portion of ice cream with the tiny crumble did not even fill one dessert spoon. We had to queue at the register to pay for at least 15 minutes by aa miserable "manager" and then were not charged correctly. I had to insist on a receipt (it was not offered) and, when I got home, found it was wrong. Add to that the sickening decor and it was far and away the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. NEVER again.

I attended a close friends wedding at Judd’s Folly in October 2022. I have never visited here before but honestly it’s a little gem stuck out the way from the main road leading into Faversham, Kent. The owner Jason could not have done more for us on the day. He found us a room to stay in despite the fact we had not booked ahead. The facilities are very good, unfortunately our shower in the room was not great but that’s one of only 2 things that I can mark this hotel down for. The breakfast next morning was second to none and I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels. The second thing I’ll mark it down for is sadly the wedding organiser. Another member of staff gave me her name as Carly. Sadly this lady has some work to do on her customer service skills around weddings. The key to weddings is making everything centre around the happy couple. Yes you have a schedule to stick to as you have a day to plan BUT I hate to say it here, Carly didn’t come across well. She was officious where there was no need for it and instead of suggesting options to guests, she was like a bulldog chewing a wasp. Other than this, if the hotel can work on that aspect of their weddings, I thoroughly recommend this little hotel as a venue to stay at and it gets a general well done from me!

My husband took me out to Judds Folly for my birthday and we were very disappointed. We walked into the bar area, it looked like a transport cafe, with plastic chairs around the tables. The restaurant was not open so we had to sit in the back part of the bar area which had a better seating arrangement. We were taken to this area and told we could choose where we wanted to sit. The waitress did not take a drinks order at this time, we had to wait for her to come back. The first round of drinks was very nice my husband had a small pot of Tea, £2.95 with 2 tea bags , and the pot was full, the 2nd pot was only half filled and 1 teabag and they wanted the same price, I asked for them to top up the pot with extra water, but because there was only 1 tea bag, it was very weak like dish water. We only had the main course, which was obviously cooked fresh as we had to wait quite a long time before it came out, in fact we were there for 1.5 hours for just 1 course each. I am not a big eater, but I was able to clear my plate, so the meals are not large, they were nice, I cant fault the quality. When we asked for the bill, we nearly fell off our chair, they had added a 12.5% service charge £6.25 !!!!! Service Charge what service???? We had to wait for our drinks order to be taken when we first got there. My husbands meal came out, NO CUTLERY on the table, we had to take some from the table next door, then eventually they rememberd to bring out a steak knife, they forgot that he had ordered a blue cheese sauce, we had to remind them, had to ask them to make a full pot of tea instead of half for the same price, and for the 1 course to take 1.5 hours is ludicrous, it was a very disappointing evening. My husband had informed them when he booked the table it was for my birthday, you would have thought they would have made more effort than they did. It looks to me that they are catering for the workmen staying there during the week, not couples out for a nice evening

The dining room decor was dreadful - I have never seen worse. Some of the food was fine and the chocolate and orange torte was delicious. The fish platter, however, was mostly breaded and tasteless. Our waiter, Alan, was delightful. Possibly worth a second visit to try some other menu items when, hopefully, the dining room will have had a full makeover.

I’m expecting a rude response as the owner was very nasty when discussing the 5 day out of date and mouldy cream given to us for our family cream tea. 1 of our party has 3 weeks to go before giving birth and we had 4 children one only 1 year old. We was offered 15% off and I said we could walk due to the out of date and mouldy cream. We was told to walk and to clear up before we left as our baby had dropped food on the floor. Very nasty owner and as you can see will no doubt leave some horrible response. Such a shame this happened as it was our first visit and due to the owner we will never give it a second chance. But wait for his response as he’ll probably say he wouldn’t want us back anyway. I told him I would leave feedback on trip advisor and contact local authorities due to serving the out of date mouldy cream and after he apologised he got vile. I hope others that read this and the rest of feedback can see what a nasty obnoxious person the owner is and to think twice or even three times before booking to eat or stay. If you risk it and have an issue be prepared to be attacked rather than to try and solve any issue amicably.

I enquired about what meals were gluten free, a few options were given... so I eventually chose a sandwich using gluten free bread. Food was fine, reasonably priced. Staff pleasant. When we visited building work was taking place around the reception area, which meant there was limited parking and very muddy due to the weather. They were hoping for it to be finished soon.

Don't take any notice of the nonsense bad reviews about this hotel. We stayed in room 20 which was very clean and recently refurbished. Previous reviews that the devor was dated are untrue. The hotel is clearly investing in updating. The evening meals and breakfasts are excellent. My only possible gripe about the room was the deep bath, which was ok for us, but would be a problem for anyone with restricted mobility. A very very good value hotel. We came here for a family meal, I was surprised it was so quiet over a weekend. The staff and our waitress were all very polite and helpful, the food was very slow which surprised me as it was a set menu. It was ok but the main courses had lashings of gravy, personally I would have liked it in a small jug so I could pour the right amount on myself. The portions were a good size and there is a children's menu available. For desert I ordered berry Eton mess, when it came out it was peaches with alcohol and cream with meringue so I was disappointed. The children's ice cream was one tiny scoop, a little bit stingy. Overall not a bad meal but a bit more attention to detail would have made it excellent.

Firstly let me say that the reception staff and the breakfast staff were really good, especially the young man on reception who was very helpful in sorting out our hot water (my fault for not leaving it running long enough) and the heater (which no-one in the hotel seemed to know how to work). He then brought us a stand alone fire which helped. The hotel is not what we expected, the accommodation is more like a motel with cabins around a central decking area. The bedroom was ok with a comfortable bed although there were rather a lot of curtains which were too long and "puddled" on the floor which meant there was a bit of a fight if you wanted to open the windows. What really let it down was the ensuite. The taps were so close to the back of the wash basin that it was hard to get your hands under them to wash them. The worse part was the "wet room" shower which actually made the whole small area soaking wet. It was tiled in dark red without a window and gave the impression of being dirty.I also think that the management should look at perhaps removing some of the warning notices for example, they will fine you £25 for this and £20 for that, for example, lost keys etc. There was even a notice to say that when you had a shower you should open the windows in the ensuite (not the shower part as there wasn't one) so that they didn't get mould. The breakfast was good and well cooked. I think this is a place that is ok for a short stay but I didn't find it comfortable for a longer visit.

Fantastic Evening, from start to finish this was a great evening. We were welcomed by smiling staff and a glass of Prosecco. We were also welcomed by the Murder Mystery actors from the Inflatable Theatre Company (sorry if that is not their correct name) and given the low down on the evening and background on the characters. We were then ushered through to the dining room where the action really started! Unfortunately someone was murdered during the starters which didn't stop me from enjoying my soup which was perfectly seasoned and delicious. Whilst waiting for the main course we had the opportunity to question all the suspects as they circulated from table to table giving us their alibis and answering our probing questions in a dramatic fashion, never breaking character. The main course was then enjoyed by everyone on the table. I had the Salmon on a bed of smashed new potatoes which was very nice and accompanied by fresh steamed veg. My wife had the chicken which she said was delicious but out classed by an even more delicious Roasted Chorizo sauce. Our meal was then interrupted with the news that a bag of items had been found nearby with what was obviously the murder weapon in it and other key clues. This helped us cement our theory as to how the murder was done but we were still undecided on the murderer. We then had an opportunity to ask more questions before making our final decision. Unfortunately whilst we got the method right we picked the wrong person. The whole plot and the twists and turns were very well thought through and expertly executed in a fun & dramatic way. The evening was rounded off with coffee, dessert and a disco which was also very much enjoyed by everyone on the table. Hopefully we didn't embarrass ourselves too much particularly enjoying the 80's music. Thank you Judd's Folly for a cracking meal experience and thank you The Inflatable Theatre Company for the entertainment.

Although we have been to Judds Tea House in Maidstone on numerous occasions this was our first visit to the Hotel. We were not disappointed. There was a lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere and the food which was excellent was well presented and piping hot. We were able to get a lovely Yorkshire pud even though two of us had chicken. Very accommodating. We will be returning.

Disappointing food not exceptional and expensive. Better gastro pubs locally with better beer. Restaurant lacked atmosphere and small bar was crowded

Good portions, good value and most importantly, pet friendly in the bar. Had an inn feel, rather than a hotel. Very relaxed and welcoming.

The food was not bad, however I can say it did not represent what was on the Menu. Ordered Garlic and Rosemary Roasted leg Of Lamb with Mint jus. No taste what so ever of garlic or rosemary and there was no mint jus. The meat was also tough. On the menu it stated "Inc Coffee and mints" had to ask for the coffee, initial response was it was they did not think it was included, also asked for the mints......they never arrived! When I said the food was not bad, that's not bad for a normal roast dinner. We were not asked if everything was ok, which is normal in any restaurant I've visited. Disappointed:(

Trying to find a Sunday Lunch at the last minute we happened on Judd's folly. Local standard venues were all full , so it was with some hope that we booked! We were a party of 4 and only one other group was there. All I can say is so many people are missing out.Superb food, excellent attentive service, and great value for money( helped by their acceptance of Tastecard). The menu was varied with traditional roast available alongside other choices Every course was well presented with taste matching plate appearance. Whilst I understand personal preference and taste is subjective, it could not be bettered by some Michelin star restaurants not too far away.I hope that the venue gets the patronage it deserves. Forget the Corporate restaurants and support owner run independents such as Judd's!

I went with my partner and 2 friends to the Fawlty Towers dinner / disco evening. It was our first visit to the hotel and we was very pleased how the evening went. This hotel is set back from the A2 on the Sittingborne side of Faversham and has a lovely rural feel to it. We received a very warm welcome when we arrived and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar has a nice modern feel combined with the large inglenook style fireplace. Although it was very busy for this dinner experience, we was served quickly at the bar and the customers all seemed a very friendly bunch. I won't tell you much about the Fawlty Towers bit, but will say it started off in the bar with Basil Fawlty calling the diners to their tables and Manuel trying to seat us all. Suffice to say that Sybil was keeping her eye on the fracas that pursued. We started laughing in the bar and didn't stop till dinner was completed. The actors and actress were excellent and very believable. You certainly won't be disappointed with the performance and we will definitely go again. (They have an Ab Fab evening soon- check out their website which is how we found this place). We had to choose our food when booking but had 3 choices for each course. Our table pretty much had the entire menu choice and all of our meals were faultless in quality and portion size. While it was a mass serving process, the food was hot and presented very well. Clearly this hotel is set up to deliver a lot of food to a large sitting of people. They managed this task very well while still maintaining a personal feel. The main restaurant which did not have the Fawlty towers experience running looked very nice. The food that we saw being eaten looked very good too. We paid £40 per person which I believe is very reasonable for an evenings entertainment and dinner. We will definitely be back again! For those a bit worried about being singled out by the actors, please don't be. They were very funny but at no time did they get in the way of the dining experience.

My husband and myself have dined at the restaurant twice in the last 2 months.. And today we enjoyed a Sunday roast with family for my daughters birthday. You really can not fault the food at all. 5 out of 8 of us has a roast and the other 3 choosing something different off the menu. The food is presented very well and there is plenty of it. The vegetables are brought out separately to share and again.. There is more then enough. I can guarantee if you ate here once.. You would return :-)

First time ever had Christmas dinner out - this put me off from ever doing it again! Tiny portions of veg to share between 5, Christmas pudding my husband & I found inedible and drenched in custard! Drinks pricey considering highly priced Xmas dinner & self service for coffee and mince pies after which we thought was strange! All in all disappointed - such a shame as lovely setting!

Had lunch in newly opened Judds of Maidstone and what a lovely change from the usual panninis and jacket potatoes on offer at other cafes in the area. Staff were really helpful with seating four plus two highchairs. Food was delicious and fresh. The only down side was the when we ordered a toasted teacake which never arrived but overall a most pleasant lunch. Will certainly be visiting again.

Food was good, staff friendly and not over priced. They only rated a 4 because we pre booked one of our evening meal s- for a special occasion, only to find out a few days later that they could not fit us in. I am sure they could have found us a corner somewhere with a bit of thought.

We booked a party here for my dads 50th Birthday in January. The staff couldn't do enough for us, Amanda went to great lengths and we had a fab night. Since then my partner and I have been back on a number of occasions. It's such good value for money, the staff are friendly and welcoming, the food is perfect, service is too and the hotel rooms are cosy and warming. I really would recommend this hotel over and over again. You won't be disappointed :)

I booked a table for 2 on a Friday evening with my new Tastecard option and with no hesitation we looked forward to the meal. On arrival the bar area was heaving with a retirement event and very noisy to boot. We ordered drinks and sat in the comfortable lounge awaiting our table to become available.Once seated we were attended to by a very professional waitress who advised and delivered a superb meal and wine. Nothing was too much trouble despite the pressure from the large party. The food was excellent, cooked to perfection and the overall price was very reasonable.Overall a very enjoyable evening and a definite regular haunt.

I was so excited to take my mum out for Mother's Day and looking at the website it looked like we were going to get fresh local food. Instead we got a poor excuse for a prawn cocktail, I do better at home. Iceberg lettuce, frozen prawns and this strange thin bread thrown on a plate. My dad had a dirty glass but we overlooked this start as we are not the complaining type. This is the first and probably only review I have and will ever write. They then got my dad's main wrong and the waitress was so rude it made me feel annoyed she had spoken to him like that. The main was awful the bowls were dirty with sauce dripping down the side. It was tasteless, the cauliflower cheese was hard and mixed with a very vinegary red cabbage meaning it had turned purple. The Yorkshire pudding was almost unrecognisable. We spoke to the manager and apparently they had had 140 people through that morning (before 2pm) and no one else had complained. We were made to feel very silly. All in all very embarrassing and disappointing and ruined Mother's Day.

Booked for our first non home cooked Christmas lunch and wasn't disappointed. Personally greeted in reception by the owner which was a nice touch. Met up with the others in the bar where there was a lovely Christmas atmosphere. Called through to lunch where we were all greeted with a Christmas present! Lunch was delicious and leisurely. I would definately go again.

Don't be put off by the driveway which is a bit bumpy! Ate Sunday lunch here last weekend, and it was excellent. Cosy bar to sit and have a drink while you choose from the very good menu, before being taken into the lovely restaurant - very attractive room. Staff couldn't be more accommodating. Roast dinners extremely tasty, and reasonably priced. We had to book more than a week in advance, as it was fully booked on our original date. So, if you want a tasty Sunday roast, in pleasant surroundings, with excellent service, don't miss Judd's Folly. We live close by so couldn't comment on the accommodation.

Good choice breakfast buffet spread, the sausages were tasty, the fried eggs were hard, the coffee, althought filtered, was weak, average tasting bacon. Plates removed as soon as we'd finished eating but never once asked if everything was okay. Didn't try anything else

We booked a table for a Saturday evening in August for just 3 of us. Just after we arrived there was a massive storm and torrential rain and it was rather nice to be cocooned in the conservatory restaurant looking out. The decor was rather French and very 'propre' with immaculate white tablecloths. The service was discreet and excellent. The food was unexpectedly good - tasty, well presented and not spilling over the edge of the plate in 'gut-busting' portions. Daughter and self had a chicken dish (mine with perfectly cooked roast potatoes),husband had fish. Two of us had a wonderful light peach 'Eton mess'. The food was delicious and as a picky eater I was surprised to find I'd eaten every morsel. We had drinks and follow up coffee and were amazed to see the bill for all was just over £20 per person! Well done to the chef and staff.

Food was delivered after delivery time being pushed back by an hour- when food arrived one of the boxes was covered in an orange mystery liquid. Food was cold and poorly prepared, and the Diet Coke ordered was a year out of date.

Nice pub and rooms, a few points to make: - Bathrooms small (which I think is unavoidable given the building), just a little too cramped - Staff friendly all way through stay - Lots of things not in stock or available when ordering at bar - Breakfast was very nice but no ketchup or brown sauce on table, when asked for both was given bottles of both with just dregs in - this is unacceptable - When coming back at night, entered bar and was given a room full of local stares lol
