We came for Mothers Day lunch . Mum had cottage pie real bits of steak and so tasty she said it was better then hers .mum ran her own restaurant for nearly 30 years . We will be back for breakfast . The landlady hayley was so welcoming. I think this could become a regular eating place if mum's happy then so am I.

The landlord really has been nasty. One little mistake by my friend two weeks ago. He’s banded us all from the pub. My friend can’t drink as she’s on heart meds and she’s not allowed to drink etc. We won’t be going back again. He’s turned very nasty. We used to spend up to £50 a week in there as there is up to four of us going there. He’s now lost up to £50 a week. We will find somewhere else.

Staff was pretty rude. Called me out for not drinking real ale even though the only thing in tap was Harvey's. Ordered a Guinness and watched the bartender pour it from a can even though they had a Guinness tap. Didn't even mention it to me like it was an OK thing to do.

Probably one of if not the only last traditional pub left on Sheppey complete with “The Governor” Fred the landlord, Fred is old school he says what he thinks, and rightly so does things his way. The pub serves one real ale and on this occasion was Wadworth 6X which is not so common in these parts, my pint of 6X was drawn straight from the cask and was delicious served in fantastic condition. The Ship On Shore is a pub that unfortunately is a dying breed especially on Sheppey where the island has lost so many pubs but entering here is a reminder of when pubs were pubs where the landlord made you feel welcome, would chat and have banter with you Instead of places to watch television or overrun with children. Long may it continue.

Made a special trip here whilst stopping on Sheppey. Landlord very welcoming. Locals chatty. Some famous faces also frequent..... Enjoyed a pint in the sunshine, followed by a stroll along the seafront and watching the fishing. Didn’t dine here, so review a bit airy-fairy in response to questions. Couldn’t see photos when they uploaded, so descriptions may not match .....

Having read glowing reports of this pub/restaurant we were keen to sample it for ourselves - unfortunately we were very disappointed. The landlord is very friendly and made us most welcome and it is this that stops me grading the Ship on Shore as terrible. The place was cold and smelt very musty, the menu was poor and overpriced and when the food did arrive it was almost uneatable. A very disappointing lunch.
