Went for a nice pre valantines lunch after spotting this place, wish we went elsewhere, there were at least 3 deliveries unloaded while we were in, all of which were wheeled or carried through restraunt. Staff seemed more intrested in talking to themselves and friends and shouting from one end to the other. Food was fresh but not worth the money, was nothing special and unfortunately we won't return.

I booked here through 5pm for some pre gig food as I was seeing a band in the ABC. First up we ordered some drinks - an ice filled bucket of corona for £12 was fantastic value. We also decided to try one of their coronarita's - probably one of the best margaritas iv tasted with a side car of corona which provided not only dramatic effect but added another dynamic to the drink I fully appreciated. Steep at £10 however plenty of it for two people to share, as we did. The food however, did not impress so much. My Mexican meatball tacos arrived looking a bit sad and after trying the first one I found it to be cold. The manager however, (I think he was the manager, lovely guy with Irish accent?) was quick to apologise and arranged with the chef to have a new one prepared. It returned steaming hot and the meatballs were tasty and very filling however I found the a compliments of the rice and refried beans a bit tasteless and not very aesthetically pleasing. The jalapeño chillies that came with the tacos looked straight out of a jar of old El Paso. My friends meal although she states hers was also a far cry from hot and sizzling, was tasty and very filling. She is usually a fussy eater so I would take that as a compliment to the dish. The portion sizes were so good and very filling that I wasn't too disappointed I couldn't eat the rice and bean sides. All in all the service and drinks were fantastic and really great value, but I think the chef has no pride on what he is serving on the plate wether he is new and unsure or old and can't be bothered any more I would suggest management have a word as it's such a let for what is a lovely wee place. The bill arrived and as I had booked via 5pm there should have been a 20% from the bill which hadn't been applied. However, having brought this to the waiting staffs attention it was quickly remedied. I'm not sure if I would be quick to return to eat here. However, I will be quick to return to sample some more of their awesome margaritas and have been raving to all of my friends to come try these if nothing else.

We ate her twice in 2014 and LOVED everything about it from the nice little touches like a fresh rose in a tequila bottle on the table, being served wine in traditional clay cups & of course the amazing food, so we were excited to bring my mother in law one afternoon after raving about it. Our food can't really be described as anything but disappointing. First of all no rose on the table this time, no clay cups with our bottle of wine, & some changes to the menu meaning less seafood/veggie options. We decided just to go for a main each as last time we couldn't finish two courses so I ordered the salmon burrito & when it arrived I immediately knew it was going to be bad, it was NOT a burrito, it was a dry(blackened and burnt)piece of samon in a wrap with some shredded lettuce with about a teaspoon of mayonnaise, and on the side was some more lettuce with some shredded veg in mayo, no rice, no cheese, no sour cream, no chillies, no salsa, and also on a much smaller plate compared to when we last ate there. I know what a burrito is supposed to be and this didn't come close to the one I had eaten last time. My husbands beef burrito was mainly sauce and again no rice, cheese, or sour cream, my mother in laws tacos did look ok but the chicken was very dry & she said there was none of the flavour you would expect(there looked to be zero fajita seasoning on them). I took a couple of bites of mine and decided not to eat it & my husband & mother in law didn't finish theirs either, what happened next is the ONLY reason I gave 3 stars, when we asked the waitress to speak to the manager the other waiter came over(I don't know if he IS the manager but he isn't the same guy with white hair who was overseeing everything the last couple times we were there in 2014), he agreed that the salmon was burnt & when we said we'd rather not pay for that dish, to his credit he took all three meals off the bill all we paid for was the bottle of wine, when I showed a photograph of the burrito I had had the last time(on facebook saying it was 'the best mexican food I'd ever tasted' ironically enough)smothered in salsa and cheese and sour cream and chillies with a side of rice, he agreed that it looked nothing like before & said he would show the chef. We also had a complimentary shot of tequila and he took the time to explain the different flavours to us, I feel terrible writing a bad review but we probably wouldn't go back to give the food another chance if the same chef is there, I hope management reads this and sees that they are losing customers because the food is going rapidly downhill, it's not in the same league as it was last year, I will keep an eye on reviews and see if the quality improves and if so we will be back to try again, only because of the good service we received.

When I first ate here in late 2014 the food was amazing...subtle flavours, fresh crunchy chillies and well-cooked onions. My last visit was very disappointing for me though...the chillies were soggy, the onions were raw and the whole thing had been cooked in such a concentrate sauce you couldn't taste anything and it made you shudder.I think this change is as a result of hiring new staff and it will be a terrible shame if the food remains like this instead of returning to its former glory. I'll of course give it one more try to see if it was a disappointing one-off, but this may be the end of a restaurant's fabulous dominance in my culinary enjoyment and I'll be going back to Pinto.

Went to Juan Chihuaha's last night with my husband. I LOVE mexican food, so as we were seated drinks order taken and chips and salsa brought to our table (which were delicious), I thought this is going to be great. However, waited about 40 minutes for starter to arrive. My husband had ordered calamares but had no sign of the chilli advertised. I have to say they had cleared our plate away fairly quickly. Then we waited almost an hour for main to arrive. The waitress thought i had looked fed up as i was waiting for the dessert menu, but when i said we were still waiting on our mains she said she would chase it up. (still took about 25mins to chase up). By this point we were very hungry so when the food arrived, the plates looked good. I had burrito and my husband the Prawn in tequila fajitas. In my opinion, it tasted mainly of tinned chopped tomatoes, no refried beans and a blob of sour cream at one end. My husband agreed that the fajitas had too much of a tomato flavour and nothing else and prawns were overcooked and chewy.I dont think we were the only table who had a long wait for their food. The restaurant was not that busy but there seems to be a lack of communication between waiting staff and kitchen. A waitress came round offering a complimentary tequila shot but when i said no thanks im driving my husband wasnt even offered and she went off to another table. When the waitress passed again i asked for the bill which was brought promptly. did not want to stay for dessert as this was a rare occasion my husband and i got out without the kids and we were returning to pick them up.what a disappointment, we will not return here. I think we will stick to our favourite mexican restaurant, Bibis.

Visited on Saturday 17th January with 3 friends. Had previously booked a table over the phone with 2 staff members who didn't understand English very well, consequently arrived having no record of table booking! Already not a good start. Initially very attentive, love the nachos and dip straight to the table, drinks and food ordered straight away, Starters and mains both massive portions, couldn't make my way through half of either for two reasons, firstly the portion size and secondly both plates were so spicy neither my self or any of my friends could eat. I understand everyone has a preference to how spicy they like their meal however this was like molten lava. I couldn't enjoy anything I was eating. After the main meals it just went downhill. We were left waiting for almost an hour having asked four times for the desserts. After 9pm the manager approached the table explaining the kitchen was finished, this made absolutely no sense as tables were still being served food, however he did offer us free tequila! 5 minutes later our desserts were brought to the table, clear miss-communication... the churros were raw inside and the chocolate sauce was so burnt it was visibly inedible and putrid in smell. Those were left uneaten on the table for a further hour before anyone came near our table. By this point it was 10pm and the restaurant was almost empty, every other table had been served throughout the evening and myself and my friends had empty glasses and dishes sat on our table. Worst thing was a number of occasions my friends had said the waiting staff had looked at our table but just never bothered coming over! I insisted the manager come to the table and we expressed our disappointment. The manager gave us a giant Margarita and 10% off the bill but at no point apologized, he also came to the table twice afterwards to check how things were, but in our opinion, too little far too late. Won't be recommending this place and certainly won't be returning!

Visited on Sunday 4/1/15 about 6pm with my girlfriend and the place was dead which I was surprised at. Ordered sharing nachos to start with and when it came we were both shocked at hoe large a portion it was. The nachos were terrific but we had to send back more than half of the plate as it was just far too much, especially for a starter. Could possibly have on the menu how many persons it would feed, it says sharing however was far too much for just the two people. 4 people could eat it and still have leftovers. For mains I chose beef fajitas and my girlfriend had the enchiladas. Again both were delicious but far too much. Food was brilliant however we felt bad sending so much food back. I have never been anywhere else before that serves as large portions as here. Will return again as food was great however I will starve myself for the week before so I can finish it all.

We came here on our last trip to Glasgow and I was looking forward to returning. I had enjoyed the food last time, although it wasn't hot enough for my husband. The drinks had been good and was great value for money.. I couldn't wait for a large Coronarita to share! The Coronarita again didn't disappoint, though I did miss the sparklers!! However the food was very disappointing. Very bland, no spice to food which was rated 2 chillis. Staff were attentive, but not when coming to the bill. I think they thought after having wine with our meal and a large Coronarita to share that we wouldn't notice the £35 overcharging on our bill. However it was spotted and they were just a little too quick to realise their mistake in my eyes when I questioned them. They did sort the bill, but I could not leave a tip. It is a shame. The place is decorated well, it has atmosphere even when empty. Drinks are great but please add heat to the food you are saying on the menu are hot!!! This place could have such good potential

Took my sister in for fajitas and margaritas and had a fantastic evening! Great food. Loads of food and the frozen margaritas were lovely (I could only manage one and a half - sis helped out). I ordered spicy chips and refried beans and they were both delicious. Ended up with too much food as the fajitas were plenty for two of us (a sharing platter) and we each had plenty torillas. These were served up in authentic warmed baskets and the accompaniements for the fajitas were in beautiful bright dishes. One of the best meals I've had and a very warm, colourful place. The drinks list is as long as your arm (hope you like tequila but, if not sure, it's definitely a place to try them out!). Not a drink order, when the staff did come out and stop talking to each other the manager promptly went to serve the party of four who had come in 10 minutes after us. When a second and third server walked past, despite our "excuse me"s and pleading eyes i resorted to waving my arms above my head in the half empty restaurant. Even then i had to raise my voice to get any notice. By that point I just told them i was going. Appalling service.

We ate in Juan Chihuahua for the first time with a KBG deal, we had a sharing platter and Margaritas. I had the passion fruit to start which was lovely, then I ordered the mango, but I'm sure I was given Lime. Either way, they were great. We were given a cone of tortilla chips with a dip when we arrived and the platter of fajitas was more than I was expecting and came with a variety of dips and flour tortillas. We had ordered a portion of onion rings not realising how much food we were about to receive. Overall everything was very tasty, well served and piping hot. Thoroughly enjoyed our 2nd visit with our KGB deal (£17.95) which included the fajitas for 2 (shared platter) and a margarita or beer or glass of wine each. I opted for the passionfruit margarita and it was delicious. Husband, David, chose a Sol. We again had the combo fajitas and as you can see in the pic was superb! We decided to try the rice (£2.25) and had an extra portion of tortilla (£2) just in case we ran out. As I had drunk the margarita before the food arrived, I had another with my dinner and chose the mango (£4) and it was even more delicious than the passionfruit!! They also had raspberry, strawberry, blackberry and original lime to choose from so a choice was hard to make really! Service this evening was by Maria who we met last time and she and Antonio are the only original staff left since the re-shuffle (apart from the head chef). All food appears to be pretty authentic and Maria gave us a discount voucher to return again soon. There are a couple of new Mexican restaurants in Glasgow but I believe this to be one of the best! It was a Sunday night, and my partner and I nipped into Juan Chihuahua for a pre-cinema meal. What we got was funnier than the film we had planned to see...Once seated, we ordered drinks. We waited. We waited some more.I finally caught the eye of the waiter who took our order and reminded him than we were waiting on drinks. Then we waited. We waited so long that a waitress came over and asked us if we would like something to drink. It was pointed out that we had already ordered and were waiting on someone (anyone would have done at that point) to bring us our drinks. The drinks arrived. However, no offer of a glass was forthcoming for the bottled beer my partner asked for, a minor courtesy I would have thought.Later, a cappuccino arrived at our table. We were perplexed, as neither of us had asked for it. At first I thought it may have been complimentary seeing as our drinks had taken so long to arrive, but as it turned out it was for a different table. The funniest episode in this comedy of errors occurred at the next table along from us. The absent minded waiter who had failed (twice) to complete our drinks request asked the couple at that table if they were ready to order, at which he was told that they had already ordered, and as he asked the question, their food turned up.I can’t really say I was impressed with the food either. I asked for a ‘Juan Chihuahua Burrito’, which should have been a prawn burrito. What it actually consisted of was lots of charred onions, some peppers and A prawn (singular). I'm still taking industrial quantities of Rennies to try and settle my indigestion.

I reviewed this place shortly after it opened and thought it was great. Sadly that hasn't lasted. The main photo showing 3 tacos is mine from my first trip but things have slipped somewhat since then. That rice bowl garnished with a fresh lime wedge is now half full, and the lime is gone. The fresh coriander, chilli and lime has disappeared from the now weirdly oily and underfilled tacos. At lunchtime you no longer get complimentary tortilla chips and salsa, and neither is there actually a lunch menu. The a la carte menu isn't outrageously expensive, but there are good deals the length and breadth of Sauchiehall Street, so it seems odd that Juan Chihuahua doesn't bother any more. It might explain why the restaurant now seems to be constantly empty. I'd be a regular if every visit was as good as the first couple of times.

I visited Juan Chihauhau with my partner on Friday 14th November 2014 and we were both extremely disappointed especially after being recommended to go by a work colleague. We ordered the Chorizo nachos and when they arrived I was shocked to find a stack of dry tortilla chips covered in grated (not melted) cheese with chorizo scattered on top. They were very dry and messy to eat since the cheese just fell everywhere, I expected it to be melted. The mains ordered were Fajitas de Pollo and Burrito Campecha - the fajitas came out on a sizzle plate minus the sizzle!! And I would describe it more as a mountain of onions, could hardly find much pepper. They didn't taste like much either to be honest, no spice mix or flavouring through the onion etc..My partner had the Burrito and was expecting beef and chicken but got one half of burrito loaded with massive prawns (which he didn't ask for) we didn't make a big deal of it but I dread to think what would've happened if he had an allergy to seafood. The spicy fries were not crispy in the slightest, infact I would say they tasted like they had been cooked in a chip pan that badly needed it's oil cleaned.I couldn't even finish the fajitas and I declined the girls offer to take it home 'in a doggie bag'The one thing I will say is the staff we're very pleasant, the girl asked my partner if he needed another beer when she noticed he had finished and although she did ask if everything was ok with our meal afterwards, I couldn't bring myself to give her my honest opinion when it wasn't her at fault.I really do feel that I could've made better nachos/fajitas myself. This is my personal opinions of the food and unfortunately I feel it was £40.80 wasted!! I will not be going back. Extremely disappointed.

upon arriving at restaurant which appeared quiet, I stood and waited to be shown to my table. The girl behind the bar seemed really put out that she had to do this. I was brought to a table at the very back of the restaurant right underneath a speaker blasting out music. She was gone before I could ask to move. I chose another table instead. I was using a voucher for 2 drinks and fajitas. My friend and I both ordered margaritas which were nice and as we were starving ate the tasteless nacho chips. We had fajitas to share. This is where my disappointment seriously kicked in. Buried under a mound of onions, peppers and chilies were a few pieces of chicken. We only received 6 small tortilla wraps. When we were finished there remained a substantial amount of what was essentially spicy stewed veg. Once our fajitas had been put down, not one person came near us to see if we were ok, or if we wanted another drink. Upon leaving, again, no one passed comment, to say thank you or good night. So glad I was there on a voucher and didn't pay full price. Will not return.

Like ChrisTKD, I was surprised too with a few poor reviews. I had a really enjoyable experience. I went here without knowing anything about it before. It was just a minute walk from my hotel. i walked past, saw that there was a decent enough crowd in there, so went in myself. The place has made a good job on the Mexican theme. i thought it was done well, without being silly with the stereotypes. The menu that comes as a faux newspaper I thought was really clever, fun, and I've not seen that before. The staff were all friendly and attentive too. The food I had was fairly decent and I got exactly what I expected. It was out of this world, but that's fine, because this restaurant is trying for that. For the money, I thought the food was fine. Decent quantity, decent quality and tasted good. No complaints from me. In a group of friends, I expect that you would have a really good experience and some fun too.

Visited with my son, I had a Groupon deal. The fajitas were absolutely mouthwatering, just delicious. Opted for the beef option instead of chicken as I would usually - have to say with slight trepidation, since beef is generally a riskier option (if it's bad, it's terrible). Needn't have worried because it was tender, well cooked and delicious. Overall an excellent meal. Yum. Frozen margarita was well tasty too! Highly recommend the place - slightly bemused at the really negative reviews...

I was shocked to read the last 3 reviews on Juan Chihuahua, I have tried all 3-4 Mexicans in Glasgow and none them compare close! I have attended now 4-5 times now and everytime leaves me wanting to come back the next week. When you go you should try a bit of everything especially from the drink side of things! They do fabulous cocktails and have a very wide range of tequila, make sure you get the whole experience!! The food is incredible, I'm quite a plain joe and prefer the basics of Fajitas, Enchiladas, Burgers etc, not a fan of Nachos in general but always eat what I know I love! The service has been brilliant everytime I have went, and that's both weekend and midweek. There was only one occasion service could have been faster however you could tell they were stretched with the number of staff they had on. You must try !!! Don't listen to tripadvisor all the time! Sometimes it's just full of professional complainers!!

Went to this restuarant with my two friends and can honestly say this has been the worst experiences I have had eating out in Glasgow. After waiting 35 mins for our completely forgettable starters- a bowl of watery guacamole with 3 mini tomatoes chopped through it and about 6 nachos each for dipping, we then had to wait over an hour for our mains which were served cold. After complaining to the manager for the second time we were assured that our meals would be redone and sent up as a priority. 20 minutes later our mains arrived and although now warm, the food was ok at best. We did get a free round of drinks and a discount but as the bill came to £66 I still thought it was a massive rip off. If you are looking for good Mexican food in Glasgow please avoid- this place will leave a very bad taste....

The food tasted very good but the service was very poor. Upon arrival, I asked if it was possible to have a booth as there was a few empty. The manager said we could not and when I queried it he rudely snapped and said we would have had to request a booth. I asked a couple sitting in one of the booths if they had requested it and they told me they had walked in off the street without even a reservation so the manager point blank lied to my face. It took over 15 minutes to even have a drinks order taken, we received the wrong main courses and items on our bill were wrongly charged. Good food, terrible service. Doubt we will be back.

Bought a groupon for margaritas and fajitas, both got strawberry frozen margaritas which were nice and we were offered to substitute if we desired. Then we got told that we both had to order the same type of fajitas which never bothered us as we both wanted chicken and were told that we would receive a double portion, which if what we received actually was a double portion then it's a miracle, was barely enough to feed one never mind two. Then there was a mix up with the order with another couple that had the same groupon and we ended up with steak, we were the only two tables in there so was surprised a mix up was possible, in the end we ate the steak and it was well cooked, juicy, just felt a bit like false advertising. We got a drink each for the inconvenience, would probably return but if you still have to use the groupon don't expect to be well fed, its essentially two cocktails and one fajitas between two.

Booked with a groupon voucher, booked online, reservation went fine, firstly we were offered our frozen margarita cocktails which were great they also brought out some complimentary nachos with chilli sauce, we had various types of fajitas to chose from, we both chose chicken and didnt have to wait long until everything was brought to the table, large sizzling platter of chicken, onions, chilli and peppers, soft warm tortillas and sauces, cheese and home made salsa. Fajitas were lovely, plenty to go around, well cooked nice and fresh ingredients with just the right heat. The Restuarant is nicely decorated and is spotlessly clean, however it did lack atmosphere due to being early on and midweek. Although the staff were friendly enough, they just seemed to be doing their job and lacked warmth, we were sat right next to the front door aswell. And the staff due to being quiet stood about talking mostly the boss instructing the waitresses. So at times we felt like we were in the way, then when it was time to go we just said thanks and bye and it was "bye see you later whilst they just stood about so the food was nice but atmosphere a bit off this time, i would go back though

I had purchased a voucher from living social and rang on Saturday 20 September to see if we could come along after visiting the Science Centre and were told by Billy that we would have to come before 4pm on a weekend as they get so busy and that there was no need to book. We decided therefore to miss out the science centre and just come in on bus to the restaurant. A wee adventure for David as he is always driving and only ocassionally travels by bus. On this trip we travelled via Whiteinch ,Partick and Kelvingrove to get to Charing Cross end of Sauchiehall St. It was quiet when we arrived and it has a lovely decor. Billy explained the deal to us and gave us a basket of complimentary tortilla chips and salsa to munch on as we pondered the menu. We opted for the combo fajitas (£2.50 supplement). It has beef, chicken and king prawns. I had a margarita and David opted for a bottle of Sol. Food was superb, drinks great and service excellent. Thanks a lot to Billy and also to Antonio for looking after us so well! We will definitely be back soon as the food is lovely and we would like to try other items on the menu for sure! Xx

Ate on a Tuesday evening when the restaurant was rather quiet. With most of the place empty, the two of us were shown to a booth at the furthest rear of the large, somewhat anonymous rear room. We'd have rather had some comfier chairs at one of the numerous unused tables.Service was a bit haphazard: no one person seemed to be responsible for our table. One drinks order was bungled, but both the wrong drink and the correct order were given to us for free. Fair enough. Food was above average: excellent enchilada and a good fajita. Prices fair enough for food, but eye-watering for many of the drinks. £7 for a margarita which my (thirsty) colleague dispatched in three sips.Worth a visit, but watch those drinks!

In short, after receiving glowing reviews, my friend and I were both pretty disappointed! Burritos were good (salmon and pulled pork) but for £10 pretty expensive. Served with some strange salad that was not overly enjoyed by us. Spicey chips should really be called super salty with a little spice chips and the guacamole was over processed and gloopy (I'm not convinced it was made in house). Churros were a little greasy but tasted good enough with lots of the rich chocolate sauce. Service was very slow considering we were the only ones in the restaurant but that would be the kitchen not the server. Not the best Mexican I've tried.

We ordered our drinks and and asked advice on what to choose which could be included in our voucher deal. There was complimentary portion of nachos and a very nice salsa sauce to munch while waiting on the main course. We had the fajita platter which was more than adequate for the 2 of us. Chicken, prawns, beef and the usual vegs plus 3 tortillas each. Separate salsa, guacamole, cheese and sour cream. Very good indeed. For "afters" we plumped for a Coronita cocktail. This was a large strawberry margarita with a bottle of Corona inverted into it. As the margarita was drained the Corona ran in. I think this will become a favourite. There was over 50 types/drinks with tequila to be tried. At all times the Staff were very friendly and happy. I would certainly recommend Juan's!

Dropped in here to watch the Spain v Holland WC match as it had a massive screen and a couple of booths with screens just above them. Don't be put off it you don't like football. It was a one-off for the WC.Service was very good and we experienced none of the issues noted in other less positive reviews. Just the opposite, but maybe everyone was in high spirits as Mexico had just won and Spain were about to play (and duly hammered!!). Staff sported sombreros and the place had a great atmosphere. The waiter also allowed me to try my awful tourist Spanish on him as well and still retained a smile. We ordered mixed starters and chicken fajitas along with beers. Prices weren't cheap compared to other tex-mex type restaurants so we expected something out of the ordinary. Fortunately, all of the food was excellent and the fajitas portion size was enormous but I'd rather have a slightly smaller, more manageable portion for a couple of pounds less. I'll certainly revisit the place, especially if it was for an office night out or a family celebration but don't know if it could capture the WC mood again.

It did not say this in the deal. Change it to a vegetarian option you say.. Well I couldn't as that would have caused world war 3 between us. So we. Got the beef and she ordered chips as a side which resulted in her having chips and tortilla wrap for dinner. When we got home we checked the offer and it most definitely did not say it's a sharing platter. Thanks Juan Chihuahua for ruining our meal.On a positive note the Margaritas are awesome.

When we arrived there was only another couple in the restaurant and then a single diner arrived. The meal was promising to start with as the complimentary nachos and salsa were lovely and would have been happier eating these all night!I ordered chillis stuffed with cheese. When they arrived I couldn't believe how tiny the plate was.... Underneath what can only be described as the bottom part of an iceberg lettuce scattered across the plate were 3 tiny bland chillis. My friend fared better with her nachos.I then had mole chicken. The chicken was so dry and tough and the watery sauce was tasteless. As I've already said there were only another 2 tables in the restaurant but we could not get the attention of the 2 staff. The tequileria aspect attracted us for a drink, and the barman was exceptionally knowledgeable about the array of tequilas, finally suggesting their Illegal Mescal Anejo which was just amazing. A fine range of Mexican food which was well-cooked, filling and delicious, and the service was again excellent. Other than a slightly limited range of beers, this is a great restaurant and, as it is just outside the city centre (it takes about ten to fifteen minutes to walk from St George's Square along Sauchiehall Street) it seems to be rarely packed out. Then for mains what else but sizzling fajitas! I like spicy food and as it states on the menu you can have as mild or spicy as you like, i asked for spicy and boy did they provide! As it was my friends birthday, they gave us all sombreros to liven the mood, a cake for my friend (which we didn't even ask for) then they sang happy birthday to him in Spanish! Would come here again with my girlfriend as it is a lovely setting, but also great for parties like us. Staff were attentive but my main issues were the food was rather bland and didn't like up to expectations.Guacamole Nachos for starter didn't come with sour cream, when questioned we were told that was correct but they happily provided some for us - checking on the way out the menu did state sour cream.Mains were decent but heavily covered in BBQ sauce, killing every other flavour, you couldn't taste the salmon for BBQ sauce. Tacos were a fair sized portion, I struggled to finish all three.Drinks did not go down well with me, nothing Mexican on draft, just your usual run of the mill terrible lagers. Bottles faired better with Corona, Desperado and Estrella. Charging £2.40 for a pint of soda water and lime really gets my back up, horrendous markup there.

I'm not having much luck with eating out of late. The last two experiences have not been good, including the visit to this place. It wasn't bad, in fact very passable, but there were too many disappointing aspects of what could have been so much better.Let's start with the obvious thing to review; the food. Portion sizes do not match the prices. I had a bowl of chilli, priced at over a tenner. Bland is the best description. Pretty tasteless, truth be known. The meal is served with a portion of rice, but it's an allowance designed for people with very small stomachs. Tiny.Chilli for me is soulfood. Not in Juan Chihuahua. Bereft of spirit.I also ordered chunky chips at £2.50. What arrived was Farmfoods spicy wedges - 9 of the. Yes, I counted 'em. The 'chunky' element was undetectable.Worth mentioning too that the restaurant wasn't that busy and our party was 5, but the wait between the starters ordered and the mains was over 45 mins. Not really acceptable. In summary then; the food won't stop you in your tracks and the level of service we had didn't justify the prices levied. As in prevuous reviews, the best way to critique properly is not to return.Which we won't.

And after ordering the toffee apple desert thing that tasted like sick all the manager could say was ohh would you like something else there was no apology or shock that we had just been served something that tasted so rank. He did however take 15% of the total bill. The service was okay, some of the staff looked more interested in the football that was on than getting our bill which we had to ask for twice. The cocktails looked lovely but after mediocre fajitas and a desert that tasted like sick we thought it was best to move on to somewhere else. Service was very efficient with orders taken promptly and food delivered promptly. Atmosphere was relaxed and not too in your face with the Mexicanisms, gentle background music and a couple of decorations does it sufficiently. Good value for money with healthy portion sizes and a good selection of cocktails on offer. Will definitely be coming back.

I was utterly appalled at how rude the staff were. When we first went in the servers were stumbling over each other, with several different people trying to take our order. None of them made an effort to be friendly or welcoming. When I went up to the bar to pay our bill, the young man was outright insulting and went out of his way to make rude comments. I was so taken aback that I was at a loss for words. We stopped in to try some of the tequila on offer and I was considering returning for food but by the time we left I had no intention of ever returning. My friend and I both work in customer service so we fully understand that everyone has their off days but I have never been treated with such rudeness and bad manners as I was in this establishment. Will definitely not be returning and am very disappointed that a place with so much potential is ruined by the staff that represent it.

Enjoyed some great food here and as a first visit will definitely be back again. Only downside for us was in a party of 8 people 2 of us ordered fajitas we were at opposite ends of the tables and had to pass the fajita bread back and forward. We could have moved but shouldn't have to. Music was excellent and varied, keep it up!!

Visited for the first time last night. The interior is very cosy and welcoming. Upon arriving we had to wait a while at the bar to be served as it wasn't clear if it was table service or wait to be seated. However it was definitely worth the wait. I ordered the mac'n'cheese fries and my partner ordered the beef burger and fries. The food came pretty quickly and I was surprised at how big the portions are for such an excellent price. The food was very tasty and perfectly cooked. I struggled to finish mine and my partner also couldn't finish his, so if you are planning a visit make sure your super hungry. The only criticism I have is the staff could do with a bit more training, apart from that it would be a definite 5 stars. Will definitely be back.

I was really excited to try this place, wish I went elsewhere though. We had a sharing starter which consisted of chicken wings, chilli nachos, cheesy jalapenos and a salad. The wings where average and I've had better nachos from Wetherspoons but the jalapenos where tasty!Next where mains, we both had fajitas and they where nice with quite big portion sizes. We had tortillas, cheese, salsa etc to share....after a bit we ran out of tortillas and cheese and still had quite a lot of filling left so we asked for more tortillas etc, after about 15 minutes a server brought them over to us. That's fine we continue to finish our main. Once we finish we again wait for around 15 minutes for someone to come over to us, we ask for the bill and 25 minutes after that we finally receive it! We where dying to get out at this point as it was starting to fill up quite a bit. Then on the bill we noticed that they had actually charged us extra for the tortillas etc! We hadn't been told there would be and extra charge and let's face it tortillas in a Mexican restaurant are hardly expensive....we had enough hanging about waiting though so couldn't be bothered complaining about it so we just paid and then left. I was also disappointed I could only get one flavour of frozen margarita, but they do have loads of other cocktails you can choose from and a huuugs list of tequila! I probably would go back if I wasn't paying but I think I'll just stick to BiBis for my Mexican from now on.

Me and six other friends ate here last night (a Tuesday night - it wasn't very busy). The food, I must say, was thoroughly enjoyable. We all loved our starters and mains and cannot fault the quality of food, although the portions are a little on the big side and we all had to leave a fair amount of our mains. However, the service here was not good. We had booked a table for 7, therefore they should have been ready to cater to a slightly larger party - especially midweek. I like time to browse through my menu but no waiter or waitress came near our table for around 15-20 mins.I also like time for my starter to settle before tackling my main, but we had been in the place for over an hour before we were served our mains. Ok, the food seemed to be really fresh but I would expect this wait on a busy Saturday night. After dinner, we wanted to order cocktails. We must have sat for around a further 20 mins before we could even grab the attention of a member of staff. They also seemed a tad reluctant to serve us more as if they were getting ready to close - this would not have been an issue had they delivered prompt service in the first place. When we paid the bill, it was the fastest I had seen the server move all night. He didn't hesitate to scoop up the tray with the money in it - and just assumed the change was a tip (it was, but a little rude to assume this as in other situations, this may not have been the case).Staff were not particularly friendly, they were ok but we felt like we were bothering them when we asked for things. There was also a lot of standing around at the bar, making it difficult for us to get their attention.Lovely atmosphere however, with live music to begin with. The setting is nice and as said before, the food can't be faulted. I will be back again because the food was good and to give the staff another chance, having seen that other reviews praise them. Maybe they were just having an off night...

Visited this place for the first time last night. This is the closest I have ever tasted to traditional Mexican food, which I have had when in Mexico on business. Great, tasty food. Big portions. Very pleasant staff. Nice atmosphere, with two young singers playing guitar. What a very nice and unexpected pleasure. Can't wait to return. Keep up the good standards. Well worth a visit.

Went on an itison voucher - portions were tiny, no frills, very basic. I am unsure if there is a specific portion they give for itison but if so, they should treat it more as people who wouldn't have come here otherwise have come to try it and if its really good then they will come back and also recommend it. In this case, considering the status this place claims to have, I would have expected a higher level of food and also presentation of food. Meal was also lukewarm.

Lovely little place we ordered for lunch it arrived quickly and the food was amazing you can customise your order for different meals, toppings and sides. It was a bit pricey but you pay for quality.

The team was excellent last Monday, especially Marcita, who was incredibly sweet and efficient in arranging our tables and orders, even though we were a large group that day.
