Stylish restaurant, excellent food... and pleasant friendly staff. Enjoyable experience. Just popped in for a beer... staff are excellent.

an extraordinarily over-priced cafe. Had intended to have lunch but settled for coffee and cake after seeing the menu. Appears many others do the same. Food did look good but I'd expect mountain views, starched tablecloths and silver service at these prices. I'm assuming they're not set-up to cater for the number of covers available in the café and this their way of limiting demand. Bizarre, but can think of no other reason.

Frequent weekly, unique and diverse menu. Attentive staff and fair prices. Do enjoy the vast tea menu.

Stopped in for brunch midweek. Lovely atmosphere. The chicken waffles were nice, though I think should double the amount of waffles and some garnish on top. Staff were very friendly if a little on the slow side to take orders or remembering to bring all our drinks.

The food here was fantastic! Arrived for brunch, so only half of the menu was available, the remainder is available at 12 noon. Full of flavour and well presented. Sadly they ran out of sweet tea, which we were excited to try! The decor downstairs is cute with all the foliage. There is an outside seating area under a canopy, which is very picturesque. Upstairs (inside) is nice but not as bright as downstairs. Parking on a Sunday can be a little tricky but there are plenty of side roads with spaces.

Don't really get the concept of all day brunch... expensive for what it is...

The best vegetable dish ever eaten, ‘winter goddess’ bowl. Fantastic mixture of flavours and grains. Waiter attentive and good humoured; very pleasant atmosphere.

Never have I ever eaten in a place with more style over substance. The service was poor at best, you don't normally expect to wait 15mins before anyone actually comes to start drinks or take your order, especially when the restaurant had a grand total of 6 patrons including ourselves. The food I'm sorry to say was poor. The smash burgers seemed to have been reheated which added to the dryness, the fries were decent enough I suppose. Fair to say I don't think I'll be back.

Great place for a relaxing meal at a fair price

Cute wee place with delicious food and good service, but some portions are small and overpriced. I enjoyed the french toast - the peanut butter and banana is a combination I didn't know I needed. However, I was disappointed the portion size isn't big enough for a brunch, and certainly not for the price. If the food didn't take as long to come out and wasn't overpriced, I would've ordered another.

Epicures currently has a four star rating on Google Maps and this seems about right. The food is undeniably good quality, our table of four had a range of dishes and no one had any complaints about flavour. I had a vegetarian 'full Scottish' breakfast, which, despite not being listed on the menu, was well-thought through and each item seemed to be hand cooked e.g. veggie haggis, potato scone etc. Where Epicures falters though is on a couple of things, firstly the price, as others have mentioned. It probably didn't help that the actual dishes our food was served on were quite large - consequently making the food seem smaller. I also didn't like how everything had to be upsold - sauce for your chips, toast for your breakfast, when prices are already premium. We also had to wait a while for our food - maybe this was because everything was being cooked fresh - but I feel like if you've waited over 30 minutes for your food then it would be polite for the waiting staff to mention something. There is no shortage of good brunch places in Glasgow so while it's nice to have finally tried Epicures, I'm not sure I will be rushing back.

Went to Epicures for a family lunch on a snowy December day. Around the table we had a full breakfast, turkey club sandwich, Korean fried chicken waffles, shakshuka and a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich and fries. Food overall was very good, Korean fried chicken waffles and the shakshuka get a special mention. Buttermilk chicken sandwich was good, but disappointing when compared to the Korean fried chicken waffles, would love to try the Korean fried chicken on a sandwich. Koffman fries with old bay seasoning and hot sauce are brilliant, have had these on a previous visit but as a tip be specific when ordering these. If you just ask for Koffman fries like we did, just expect to get plain fries (still good) Coffee very good, nice balance of bitterness but does depend on the barista there at the time. Very comfortable seating, plenty of space, very relaxed and great for being able to just past the time and get lost staring out of the window. Very lovely staff, always with a smile and great service.

A lovely surprise. The inside of the entrance has a large curtain over it and when it opened up it was a great view of the place. The staff found us a place despite not booking and it being very busy. I had Shakshuma and a ginger beer while my wife had eggs benedict with ham. Both were delicious. A friendly place with all age groups and not extortionate. Highly recommended.

First-time visitor. Had the steak and egg and it was delicious and a decent plateful. Lovely place to eat. Staff are not in your face and I like that. Will be back.

Unfortunately, after waiting for 40 mins for our coffee we were told that our whole order had not been processed. This was bad luck as we had already waited 30 mins for a table and were quite hungry. The staff were very apologetic and kind but the coffee and food felt rushed as a result. The coffee was fine but too hot to drink until the very end of our lunch (at 4pm). The food itself was nice too but the presentation seemed a tad rushed due to the mix up. The staff kindly removed the cost of our coffees from the bill which was appreciated. I will definitely give them another chance in the future but our first experience could have been better.

One of the best places in West End for breakfast or brunch. Great atmosphere and the food is great! The staff is very polite and knows how to make you feel welcome! I was served by Jack he was brilliant. Maybe the prices are like £2 more than expected but, overall, I would suggest 100%!

A disappointing culinary experience. The place looks stunning which is why we came. There wasn’t a huge choice for those with alternative dietary requirements but there was enough. The main thing was it was like a tenner for the smallest portion of halloumi known which was cooked terribly and did not have the delicious soft squeaky texture that we halloumi lovers love. The garnish was good on it. The chips were nice and crispy but small portion / unappealing presentation on a tiny plate rather than in a bowl so they went cold! Please try harder epicures!

Can't understand the hate this place gets for portion sizes, came for breakfast/brunch, shakshuka really delicious served with pretty much a loaf of sourdough. Service was without fault, friendly even when confronted with some special requests/sides. Only booked it about an hour before sitting down and the table was all set up ready to go for 7 people, bon.

Beautiful food really enjoyed the French toast, bacon & maple syrup. ( kitchen porter is great)

Epicures hit it out of the park! We shared a heap of their dishes and we were sooo impressed. The staff were excellent and so friendly. We will be back and highly recommend a visit.

Went there for dinner last night, and it was just amazing. Flavors, variety,service,location. Staff were really lovely. Returned this morning for breakfast and same as above applied.

The dinner menu was compact but delicious. I shall return for brunch!

I always really enjoy a brunch in here. On last visit we ordered from the lunch menu and it was equally satisfying. Choice for vegetarian diners is great too. However I would stay longer/ have coffee after if there was a better selection of baking, each time I've been it's always been a bit sparse and disappointing.

Came here twice in two days for breakfast whilst staying with friends. Service was good, the waiters were very nice and the food was excellent. V much recommend the veggie haggis! Second time I went for the French toast and it was delicious. Only thing missing was fresh juice.

The atmosphere is good but the food is not. It’s average at best. Really did not like their french toast either. The only thing I actually enjoyed were the fries but there aren’t alot of ways to not have good fries on a menu sadly.

Stunning location. We came for brunch. The food was tasty, although portions small. I would have liked some additional garnish (similar to previous post photos). The waffle chicken was good but half the plate was empty, and could have done with additional syrup and a spicy sauce. The French toast, again was good but a much smaller portion than previous. The staff were good and the place is lovely inside. I got a bloody Mary cocktail that was delicious.

The food is ok, but overpriced. We've been here 3 times now (always trying to give the benefit of the doubt!) but it's the same every time...food seems to take AGES to come out the kitchen, and the staff don't keep you updated. Booking a table is a must, otherwise they will give you a table for an hour and remind you every 10 seconds that you only have an hour to sit there. I wouldn't come again in a group of more than 4 as they just can't cope. I wouldn't take my kid here again either as the wait is too long. Overall best for a group of 2 or three who don't mind sitting for an hour while you drink wine waiting for your food to come.

I have to admit, the decor and ambiance of this place are on point, and the staff are super welcoming. However, the food is way overpriced, and it's just not worth it. Sure, the dishes look pretty, but the taste doesn't quite hit the mark, which is a real shame. I left feeling kind of let down, despite the overall pleasant experience. Given the cost of the meal, I'm not sure I'd come back again.

Food was delicious but it took over an hour for it to arrive, and when it did the portions were quite small for the price. Additionally the wait staff didn’t check on us at all to ask for more drinks or anything after bringing the wrong drinks the first time around. Totally get how busy it gets on a bank holiday but when we arrived it was quiet and we were ignored for about half an hour before being able to order our food!

Really nice cafe with beautiful decor and friendly staff. All very happy with meals. Coffee and baked goods were a little disappointing, but otherwise brilliant for our bigger group and we will certainly visit again.

Visité un sábado por la tarde para almorzar y ponerme al día con mis hermanas. 2 de los 3 de nosotros pedimos el rollo de leche de langosta y langostinos a un precio de 14 y nos decepcionó mucho y nos sorprendió mucho cuando nos presentaron un rollo de brioche muy pequeño (del tamaño de un mini rollo submarino de M&S) relleno principalmente con lechuga y mayonesa. con una pequeña ramita de bogavante y una gamba escondida debajo del lecho de lechuga. Se presentó solo en una pequeña placa lateral (ver fotos). Comemos mucho y estamos felices de pagar por comida y servicio de buena calidad, pero el servicio fue mediocre y el rollo que nos sirvieron fue nada menos que una estafa. Las botellas de tamaño miniatura de Diet Coke a 2. 50 reflejan además la escasa relación calidad-precio. Mi otra hermana pidió un desayuno completo, pero como es intolerante al gluten y a los lácteos pidió huevos escalfados en lugar de salchichas revueltas y de cerdo siempre que no contengan lácteos ni gluten. El desayuno llegó con huevos revueltos y salchichas vegetarianas. ¡No es lo que se ordenó en absoluto! Nos marchamos sintiéndonos tan decepcionados y arrepentidos de no haber elegido uno de los muchos otros restaurantes locales donde nos hubieran asegurado buena comida, servicio y relación calidad-precio.

Tomé un brunch aquí un par de días después de su apertura como Cail Bruich y quedé realmente impresionado. El personal era rápido y amable, excelente café y la comida era excelente. El Ham Hock Benedict es delicioso y el bagel de carne salada era realmente bueno, si tuviera una crítica fue que el bagel de carne salada era un poco Mostaza Heavy, lo que dificultaba disfrutar de los otros sabores, también podría haberlo hecho con un queso como un gruyere.Además, si quieres un pastel, es mejor que entre a la hora del desayuno. Comimos aquí al mediodía y no quedaban pasteles.

Pero un miembro del personal corrigió esto rápidamente cuando se señaló.No volverá a menos que sea mucho más silencioso y se pueda garantizar una distancia adecuada de otros clientes.

Grupo de 3 disfrutamos mucho de nuestro brunch. Cada plato estaba bien presentado y tenía un sabor delicioso.La decoración y el ambiente eran encantadores.La sección de panadería / comida para llevar es una idea fabulosa y no intrusiva con los asientos del restaurante.Es reconfortante ver al desinfectante de manos en la entrada y al personal con máscaras faciales.Altamente recomendado.

Fuimos a almorzar y la comida fue increíble. Pedimos el rollo de langosta y el bistec para perchas, ambos estaban deliciosos y definitivamente volvería. El servicio podría mejorarse: primero nos sentamos en una mesa justo al lado de la puerta trasera y los contenedores a pesar de reservar con casi 2 semanas de anticipación. Pero nos dieron una mesa mejor después de preguntar.

Visited the newly done epicures, expecting a lovely meal however after an hour of waiting for our drinks to arrive we knew that lovely meal might take a while. The drink I ordered was described poorly, looked on the menu like the made fresh juice but I was accidentally served an ice tea - not what I expected and when I got a replacement juice the tea wasn’t taken off the bill. Had the full breakfast - clearly quality ingredients but the innovation I expected from Cail bruich did not come through. My partner was also given the wrong type of eggs to what he ordered. The servers were apologetic about The waiting time but the apologies only came around the time of the hour in drinks. Also we saw lots of people in the outside seating arrive after and served before us. Really disappointed as I had hoped for a great meal. Understandably things happen during service but we were notified About problems really late on. Beautiful decor though.

We ordered a couple of the Epicures Shawarma Feast (cauliflower, chicken) takeaway meals for a zoom meal. Both meals were excellent and superb value at £15pp. I agree with other reviewers, the food was fresh, tasty and plentiful. understand that the menu changes weekly and look forward to trying out other menus. Recommended,

For only £15 pp, the 3 course veggie meal was exceptional. Everything was very fresh and tasty. The tomato tart was a triumph! The cheesecake with mango jelly was delicious.....a wee tub of mini meringues was provided to top off. The pudding was so big, we shared it......another pudding today! On top of that, unctious brownies were also supplied. Great meal. I would highly recommend it.

Was here on visit with family greeted warmly and served quickly food was delicious and staff came asked how it was coffees and wines and then bill very reasonable and bonus is the place dog friendly which is great If you in the area give this place a visit staff make place

Went in on a Sunday morning for some breakfast. We were looked up and down upon arrival and told there were no tables. when we finally sat down after a 30 min wait a waitress came over and I said ‘I think we are ready to order everything is that ok’ and she replied ‘that’s why I’m here’ in a very rude manner. Will not be back.

Epicures of Hyndland is certainly missing the mark. After coming in for lunch today I left bitterly disappointed. Firstly we were sat at a table behind some bar stools. Frankly the table should not be there, they are trying to squeeze as many people in as possible and what this meant was that no one could get passed me and I was constantly up and down for waitresses and other customers. Then I had a look at the menu and I was immediately struck by the lack of choice, unless you like eggs the day menu I s very boring. Had the soup of the day which was SO bland, and came with a single slice of bread, this cost 4.50 which would be acceptable given the soup was nice but it was far from it. Mt friend got hummus and pitta, she had 4 bits of cold pitta with hummus that she said was bland as well, When she tried to add some sriracha sauce to her hummous ( provided on all the tables) she was unable to as the top of the bottle has become so crusty at the dispenser, indicating they do not get cleaned daily, or at all. Overall epicures is certainly missing the mark when it comes to good quality food and seem to be putting in the bare minimum effort to make their food acceptable to be served. Certainly in need of some more inspired kitchen staff. Service was ok, a bit slow and often caught waitresses on their phones behind the bar while waiting for our table to be cleared and to get our check.

We went on a Sunday night in February so it wasn't too busy but had a lovely atmosphere (and was easy to park outside). We had a coupon but we were greeted warmly and invited to choose any dish on the menu (other restaurants should take note - customers may use a coupon to 'give you a try' and if they have a good experience they will be your full paying regular customers in future. Treating them like second class citizens or only offering your poorest restricted menu does not give a good first impression. If you don't want to accept coupons then don't join sites like Itison or Groupon!).The food at Epicures was delicious and beautifully presented. Yes the prawns were messy as another review said (so maybe don't choose them on a first date!) but like with any seafood in shells it came with a finger bowl, and the taste was definiely worth it. Would also highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding, the sauce was gorgeous.We really liked the layout and decor (apparently recently refurbished). The only addition I would suggest if possible in future is a double entrance, as every time the door opened everyone was subjected to an icy blast of wind. Either that or choose a table on the upper level.Overall a really enjoyable dinner and we will definitely be back.

Lovely evening. Arrived early due to terrible weather and we were made very welcome and given lovely comfortable seats to enjoy a drink while waiting for our table. Food excellent and staff attentive and charming. Will most definitely return.

Met a friend for a drink and a two course meal .Ordered chilli large prawns ....came in a chilli sauce and a dip ....prawns wereUNSHELLED ...first bite was like broken glass !! What's the point ! Spent the rest of the time trying to separate the prawns from the shells ..ended up covered in sauce .Pulled chicken with flatbread was bland .Two soft drinks ..total £50 .....Nice place ,disappointing eating experience ...

The food was good but I wouldn’t say it’s spectacular. We visited on a Friday night and the atmosphere wasn’t as bustling as we expected. I have been before in the summer and it was very busy, so perhaps it was just because of January. The service was good so it gets more points for that but the food overall, was just above average. Great refurb though.

Fuimos a comer algo rápido esta noche y la comida fue extremadamente decepcionante. Lo único positivo fue que dijimos que teníamos prisa y que la comida se servía bastante rápido. El pimiento de mejilla de buey estaba bastante insípido y el shawarma de cordero era espantoso con trozos de cordero seco demasiado cocido. Los camareros eran agradables, pero realmente sentimos que no podían molestarse con nosotros. Dos veces mencionamos que el cordero estaba seco (trajeron ketchup y mayonesa) pero no se disculpó ni intentó quitar nada de la cuenta. Decepcionante como solía amarlo aquí.

This is not the first time I have been utterly disappointed by the service at Epicures. Staff were blatantly rude and continued to ignore our attempts to order food and drink throughout our visit - while continuing to serve other tables nearby. My friend, who has a peanut allergy, enquired whether the cake they had ordered contains nuts - the member of staff never returned. The only positive aspect of our visit was the tasty food... when it was finally brought to us after such a long wait. I will certainly not be returning to this café, the staff are totally rude and incredibly snobby.

Hyndland Road used to be a good shout about 18 months ago. Not now. Service here is an issue. Was OK to begin with and slowed down as our visit wore on, to the point where I honestly think if we didn't go up and ask for the bill we'd still be sitting there! Food was decent though the chicken soup is Chinese takeaway style at double the price. The tables are cheap and nasty and you honestly have to be careful you dont poke your eye with the branches sticking out everywhere from those awful trees with pink buds that are now fairly common in neddy places that do 'prosecco parties'. They seem to have ruined the place in order to attract mothers and toddlers. Nicks across the road was also ruined for the same reasons and is now shut!

We have now been 3 times in the last few months. It is a great place to relax, have a few drinks and eat fresh and tasty food. Good service from friendly staff. Would recommend and will definitely return.

In good area of the west end difficult to get parked but once in Resteraunts/cafe tables are very close together and small food on the average side nothing special staff friendly would not like to return on a busy night well tried it OK for a coffee but that's it for me.

Attended on a relatively quiet night for dinner. My understanding was that Epicures was a safe bet in the West End. I was wrong.

A group of 9 of us had booked for dinner after going to the Oran Mor Panto .We were shown to our table at the back of the restaurant .As soon as we sat down we could feel a cool draft under the table . When I asked if anything could be done about it we were told it had to stay on as it was the extractor for the kitchen, which would also explain the strong cooking smell. Strange place for an extractor fan. We ordered our food and when the main courses arrived the plates and food were only slightly warm. To their credit when I complained they did bring me a fresh piping hot meal and plate. We were also given a free bottle of wine. Its such a shame as everyone thought the food was good .So why serve it cold? We would rather have had an enjoyable dining experience than a free bottle of wine. Such a shame.

Real disappointment, was going to visit cafe zique for brunch but decided to try epicures instead. Such a bad move, below average 2 star food, breakfast was tasteless, could have cooked it better myself, small portions and you will get a better breakfast at wetherspoons. What's more the table was crazy small, was struggle to fit two plates and drinks on it, an embarrassment really, but review only saved by the fact that's it's a stunning venue with lovely ambiance. Just spoilt by real poor quality of the food on other. Why eat out when you can cook better food yourself.

Restaurant from outside looks marvellous until you go in and are welcomed by The chunky woman with black hair and a fringe who made us feel really unwelcome, her name should actually be called ‘ face ache’ she stood and jangled to the other staff members about us and made us feel really uncomfortable about being in there. The other lady who come over to serve us made it seem like it was so much effort serving us and she was rude also! We felt that uncomfortable were we actually got up and left the restaurant. Wouldn’t recommend here and one word of advice for the owners get some new staff , serious.

I live locally and it’s fair to say that Epicures has a bit of a reputation for being hit and miss. All the reviews stating slow service, mixed bag re: food etc are bang on in my opinion.

lovely food and staff but couldn't get us out fast enough....at 9.30 we said we'd like another ten minutes before ordering dessert. Told very pleasantly that the kitchen closes at 10 so we'd need to order soon - surely takes all of 5 mins to rustle up ready made puds and icecream? So we just ordered coffee and bang on 10 bright lights on, with a very strong sense of 'do your talking while you're walking!' On a Saturday night! No idea why we couldn't have had a leisurely half hour finishing up till it closed at 10.30 but absolutely guaranteed we won't be back.....

Having pondered the menu, we were really excited about dining out here. The reality was that the prawns we ordered were so overcooked we could have bounced them off the walls. Not to mention the Ox-cheek chilli, where it was much easier to find a chunk of fat than actual meat. The staff didn't check in at all to see how the food was, and if we were satisfied.

Not a first choice for lunch but there we were. The place is spruced up since my last visit. We did get the last table. At lunch time frequented mostly by the ladies of Hyndland with babies, and dogs, and ladies that like to talk for ages over one scone . The service was slow, there appeared to only be two girls covering all the tables. Food was alright. One bowl of the blandest broth soup ever, two soft drinks, a large club sandwich and fries, and a coffee came to £25.

Ive visited a few times & found good value & friendly staff, but on my last visit for lunch was shocked to find that dogs are allowed into dining area. Kind of puts me off visiting again!!!

Had the pleasure of visiting Epicures last month. I was served by a girl called Ellie who I have to praise. Her attentiveness and customer care were the best I’ve received to date. I will happily recommend to friends and family and I will advise they ask for Ellie.

Had dinner here on a week night and it was surprisingly busy. The food was absolutely delicious. I had chicken schnitzel for my main then one of their giant meringues for dessert....totally yummy! The staff in the restaurant were friendly and welcoming and with food and drinks that were tasty as well as fairly priced it made for a smashing wee midweek dinner date!

We had a lovely chilled evening with fantastic service and amazing food. I had the house wine initially which was ok but switched to another wine for the second glass which Was much more enjoyable. It’s a lovely open space and very relaxing . The food was fresh , simple and delicious. The bonus was it is only a 15 min walk home.

My friend got a deal for a main and drink for £12 each. Any excuse gut a meet up!

Following my earlier highly critical review I can now report that Epicures is under new management. Staff are efficient and friendly. Coffee and food are good.

We visited today for lunch and were very disappointed. Having ordered soon after our arrival we waited nearly an hour to receive our food. It did come with an apology and were told we would get 1 of the sandwiches free. I had steak sandwich which was ok at best and my friend had the tuna sandwich and chicken noodle soup which wasn’t any better. With so many great places to eat in the west end, we will not be returning.

We booked in for breakfast on Sat and I had the arvo stack which was very good together with a decaf cappuccino made with Oately. We had no complaints this day. the venue is light and bright and very popular with locals which is always a good sign.

Hadn’t visited since the makeover. It’s certainly brighter and the seats are more comfortable. However, I am surprised that the same staff issues exist, particularly when many reviews are saying the same thing, why is a manager not taking the feedback on board? Staff are disinterested, service is slow even when it was quiet & some staff appeared to be dressed as if they had just got out of bed! I appreciate it may be fashionable but it just looks unprofessional.

Service was a wee bit slow, Cappuccinos had way more froth than substance but the veggie breakfast was first class. I would highly recommend and intend to visit for dinner next time in Glasgow.

Was disappointed , had saw epicures advertised and it looked delightful , it was too look at !!! , our waitress wAs lovely , overpriced though for tasteless food , food was pleasing on the eye but definitely not on taste . My granddaughter had the chicken soup , no taste at all , I had the chicken posh kebab , salad was over oiled , pitta ? , cold and hard... chips were cold and lank . Steak sandwich wasn’t good either , gluten free bread wasn’t fresh at all ... no cakes on offer as advertised . 51 pound for two soups , stale bread , 2 cups of tea, a chicken kebab and a steak sandwich . Sadly won’t return

Service was friendly but the chicken soup was the worst I’ve had in a good while. It was hot water with no flavour. The sandwich wasn’t cold, the lettuce had a wee beastie in it which actually didn’t bother me too much but the bacon was so tough and cold the fat around it had gone solid. All in all very disappointing. There was no home baking apart from a very dry scone as they were waiting for a delivery (2pm Tuesday day) They did edit the bill but that wasn’t the issue. It wasn’t cheap and management needs to be all over the quality of what’s being served. Shame as it such a nice little setting.

I have been coming here for many years and always defend epicures when service is bad. Its such a lovely setting. However, I took my family here this morning and it really was the last straw. We waited for over 30 minutes for our brunch. The place wasn’t that busy and waiting staff were busy chatting amongst themselves most of the time. When our food arrived it was cold. Even the kids were fed up and wanted home. We were all very disappointed. I never complain but felt I had to today, we were given money off our final bill by way of compensation. I hope service improves, it has great potential but the quality of service and as a consequence the temperature of their food currently let’s it down.
