First experience of a Bangladeshi restaurant and I'm hooked. Just here on holiday for a week but I'd love to work my way through their menu. Lots of new things to try. All 4 of us agreed our meal was excellent. Nice ambience, friendly staff and very cheap.

The restaurant is now called Jaflong the new owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The atmosphere inside is cosy homely and welcoming. I ordered lamb chops and chicken tikka starters which were succulent and very tasty. For mains I had lamb curry with pilau rice it was a mouthwatering dish will definitely be visiting again . Excellent food and excellent service definitely the best in Ripon. Not to be missed if you’re in the area.

This was our first time ordering from here. A family of 3 adults, we chose Chicken Balti, Chicken Dansak, Chicken Dupiaza (£5.95 each), 2 x rice (£2.95 each) and a garlic naan (£2.50). The menu specified a 15% discount on cash collection, which made the price even better! I was told the total was £28, so paid £30 and was given £2 in change. When I got the meals home, they were all tasteless and were not the medium strength stated on the menu. However, I realised that we had been overcharged! I worked out the total twice (incase I was wrong), but it only came to £26.25. Then there should've been the 15% discount (£3.94) which would've made a bill of £22.31. I went back to the restaurant to explain and to get my £5.69 back that I had been overcharged. I explained everything to the gentleman, who then gave.me £3, saying "it's the best I can do". Again I showed him the calculations, he gave me another £1, saying "it's the best I can do". Again I showed him and reminded him of the 15% discount. He gave me another £1, saying the offer has now changed and it is only 10%. I explained that he gave me the menu showing the offer being 15% but he said that as I had only paid £25 then this was the best he could do! I again reminded him that I had paid £28 at which point one of the waitresses have me another £1. I tried to explain that if the offer has expired, then he needs to get rid of the menus so that nobody else gets caught out. Sorry, but I will not be ordering from here again. I will also not be recommending this restaurant to any of my friends, local or otherwise.

This restaurant seems to be called The Old Balti House now. We had a delicious meal, which was a little bit different from the norm. The waiter was very helpful with suggestions and gave the place a friendly atmosphere. We were very pleased by the meal and the whole experience.

Fantastic food amidst a very difficult time for restaurants. This was our first takeaway since lockdown and it didn’t disappoint. Our meal was ready for collection30mins after ordering, piping hot and was served with a smile. The food was delicious. A Peru generous portions and ample (Quality) meat in the dishes. We will definitely be going back, although maybe not too soon, I’m still stupidly full!

I've been having a takeaway a week since lockdown and a couple of weeks ago I tried Joy Tandoori. They do a fantastic value meal for two with popadoms, 2 starters, 2 mains and rice or naan all four only £15! I'm veggie and ghee options I had were lovely. I'll definitely be back again soon :)

Got a takeaway it was ok but I won’t ever use them again as my Paratha was riddled with thin, clear plastic fibres. Totally inedible and disgusting.

absolutely awful! ordered a half hawian parmo but had to buy cans of pop to make the minimum spend of £10 and when they handed it me they never asked what salad or sauce, just given what i got. when asking for garlic mayo i was treated with this dosent come with sauce. manager very rude and abrupt and the food was gross! chicken had grissle and fat throughout the parmo making it chewy and had to spit out several times before putting it in the bin, only passable part of the meal was the salad and the chips. if looking for a chicken parmo giannis is much nicer and with sauce!

Very disappointing, booked on the way back from a week in the Lakes for a birthday meal. We had the dog with us so we were only allowed to book into the ‘tap room’ with a large sports screen and what appeared to be several over exited and loud children running around in their school uniforms. The menu presented was for the quieter and much more pleasant restaurant prices. Needless to say we left and moved to the White Bear next door for a decent, quiet and more pleasant dining experience.
