Went to Jonestown and ordered two mochas. The man made it and offered it to us without lids and I could not see where the lids were (they were higher up, not on eye level and being 5” nothing not easy to reach or see). I passed my sisters coffee and went to get mine and it dropped. The three people behind the counter did nothing to help, didn’t offer tissue as it had gone over both of us, nor offered a replacement coffee for me. I had to ask them for the mop to which one of them said don’t worry I’ll do it. As I was leaving they all smirked, yet still no offer of a replacement coffee. Not the usual service you get in a coffee shop. Will not be returning!

Service without a smile. Hot chocolate was some powder and hot milk - portably never I’d if made it myself ... at least the powder would have been properly stirred into the milk. Cake and husbands coffee was nice - so I guess stick with the coffee.

I decided to review this as I have read some past reviews regarding this coffee shop . The owner of the coffee shop has a dry dark sense of humour which I totally enjoy ,he is quick witted and some might find it offensive , I myself love the darkness and in a world so PC it’s yotally outrageous. The coffee is enjoyable the Portuguese custard tarts to die for . My husband had a lovely sweet potato soup. The coffee shop is quirky ,with lots of tongue in cheek stuff in it. Don’t fall for the coins stuck on the floor joke . If you want something out of the ordinary, where you can’t take yourself too seriously, this is the place for you ,if not go back to your sterile little coffee shops

The location itself is nice but there is a man there behind the counter who is not. Don't know what his position is but he was vile to me and made a weird sexual innuendo to me. The food I had was awful (salad tasted and looked ten years old), the coffee was warm and tasteless and the decorating was enough to give anyone a headache. AVOID AVOID AVOID Horrible place. swear words and weird jokes all over the walls. There are better places to waste your money. Would never go back.

Very funny cafe with some great signs, (love his lego display)...BUT...he needs to concentrate on the quality of the coffee and stop being such a smart ar$#..his coffee sucked and had a very off after taste. Gave it the benefit of the doubt and had another coffee the next day , but same bad result. If he stopped trying to be deliberately offensive and went back to basics he would be better off....one can not live off gimmicks alone as that gets old quickly

Worst experience ever. I accidentally forgot to ask for non-dairy milk in my shake, and when I realised they had already started making it. I apologised profusely, made a joke about how it was too early in the day, and asked if I could order a new one and pay for it. The man behind the counter then rolled his eyes and made a comment about how I wouldn't have gotten the order wrong if I wasn't on my phone. I smiled politely, and decided not to mention that I hadn't been on my phone when I'd placed the order, especially as they had offered to make the new coffee for free. When he gave me the coffee the man said "here you go, you wanted almond milk, right?" I said yes, and he said "well this is oat milk". I said it was absolutely fine and thanked him. As I was walking out of the shop he called after me "F**k you very much!". I was completely shocked. Will NEVER return. What a horrible way to speak to a customer, all because I ordered the wrong kind of milk. The worst. Regardless of whether he replaced my coffee for free, that doesn't give him the right to speak to me like that. So many amazing new coffee shops on Bethnal Green road where the staff aren't rude and obnoxious. Avoid this one!!

Good cafe to sit and work/study, not the place you go to get good service. Staff pretty much ignores their customers. Coffee tastes ok, not the best I’ve had but is cheaper than cafes around the area so that makes it ok. I really like the setup of the place though it’s very loungy and music is good so that’s why I go back and because it’s so close. Another good thing is they’ve got loyalty cards.

Came here for a late lunch of coffee and many a snack. Had a long look at the menu and was surprised to see Saag Paneer on the menu and just felt like I had to try it in a coffee place instead of the usual Indian restaurant. The saag paneer came with 2 slices of toasted bread rather than the expected rice or naan or paratha (I did't ask up front). Regardless, I thought it was the dish was really nice, not too spicy which made it easier to really taste the spinach and cheese in the dish. Slightly creamed, but not too heavy so that I didn't feel bloated after eating the dish. Overall, very yummy and in my humble opinion, comparable to anything you'd find in a good Indian restaurant, especially if you prefer your Indian food to be milder. There's a mixture of seating inside. Breakfast table and stools, standard tables and super comfortable couches to sit on next to coffee tables. The atmosphere is really relax and chilled out. The coffee is excellent, the service friendly and would definitely visit again this trendy little cafe in slightly untrendy Bethnal Green.

Not a busy day by any stretch but the two members of staff clearly were struggling, but not in a we-are-trying-our-best-but-need-more-staff kind of way but in a we-dont-care-very-much-at-all kind of way. One member of staff was sat down on her laptop but facing the queue. The other member of staff was out back stocking up or something. There were two people in the queue but the one sat down couldn't even be bothered to drag herself away from her vice article about hashtag Metoo to tell her colleague there were people waiting. Even when they were both serving, it was painfully slow and both women got confused about which coffees needed to be made and in what order. Super pretentious left wing vegan hipsters, yeah we get it you don't like trump because hE Is LiTeRaLlY hItLeR but seriously some manners and a bit of enthusiasm in your job wouldn't go a miss. On the plus side wifi is pretty quick and no password.

If your willing to wait for the relaxed barista to make you a brew then have patience as the staff are friendly but sluggishly slow. This is my 3rd favourite coffee shop in London as their Cappuccino is lovely. £3 for a large is actually a medium cup! The place is very chilled and relaxed. I am thinking of not going here due to slow service but the coffee beans keeps me coming back. Hmmm...

Terrible customer service, the girl was beyond rude. When I asked whether they'd bring the coffee over or I should wait for it, she snapped; 'I'm not going to bring it over to you'. The croissants were stale and the flat white was full of foam. They also serve their coffee in paper cups with plastic lids, not very environmentally friendly at all. I won't return, there are tonnes of decent coffee shops in the area and this certainly isn't one of them.

My partner and I used to live around the corner and could always count on Jonestown to provide a great cappuccino. Their daily soups have always been delicious and they have a good selection of other sweets and sandwiches/wraps. Breakfast rolls (try egg and chorizo) are very nice. We also used to buy our coffee for home there. £15 for 1kg is greatly great. They will grind it for you and when you buy a bag, you get a free coffee. Other reviews are true that the staff may not be the most welcoming - depends on their mood. If you’re looking for a consistent great coffee, this is the place!

Those are just the highlights! Jonestown was the perfect place to duck into out of the misty rain yesterday, after being turned away at Lady Dinah's. I think this place was better anyway - of course they're not trying to be the same thing at all, but I felt quite welcome & at home on the classic couches with the paper right there on the coffee table. New trainee was kind & her colleague helped point out which of the cakes he found to be particularly nice (lemon poppyseed). I suppose I might have liked it more plain, but the icing made it just a tad too sweet for my taste. Would definitely go back if I lived in London!

Imagine Roy Chubby Brown (yes, he) reincarnated in the form of a 20-year-old banking apprentice, selling you expensive coffee in an ironically decorated shed. If that floats your boat, you'll love this place, if not, there are much better places to go.Its as good as any other modern coffee place, more expensive but not too much so. Really if you want good coffee, you would go to somewhere that is an actual roaster, like volcano, caravan or ozone. The place gets some publicity every now and then by writing 'funny' (read. 70's style sexist or slightly offensive nonsense) on its signs.

It felt like I was entering a shrine to fine snacking when I walked into JonesTown. Nay a church. I almost felt like singing a Himmler. I personally don't care if the guy I pay my hard earned cash too thinks he can give Moseley a run for his money. All I care about is Coffee and my word when it comes to coffee this place knows it's stuff. Didn't pay much attention to what I ordered, too busy stepping over the flotsam and jetsom of failed Humanity to bother to ask, but boy did it hit the spot. Piss stank for days afterwards. And as for the home made cakes, sublime. Hadn't managed to pass a stool for several weeks before my visit, within an hour I had been seriously vacated. The cakes really are that good. Have one, you'll Goebbels the lot. So all in all a great visit to a great establishment. And honestly if you can't mock those less fortunate than yourself, who can you mock?
