Jollof Republic in Leicester

The wings and fried fish were very delicious. Crispy and flavourful wings, had to go for seconds. Good atmosphere and friendly staff.

Visit 2days ago and I was slightly disappointed honestly. The fried rice was dry and undone.. I could count the ‘carrots’ used in preparing it.. I am pregnant and was extremely hungry so I had to eat the dry rice.. plantain was well fried though.. and it was just one lady attending to customers, cooking, clearing tables etc.. she did a good job managing it all but I felt it was a lot.. not sure if it’s the norm, visited in the evening so maybe not..

Loved the food, first time trying Jollof rice and it taste so good 😋. I tried the king prawn jollof and the prawn were cooked to the perfection my mum tried chicken with jollof rice and the chicken tastes soo good too, highly recommend this place. The place is vibrant and lively.

We ordered three Jollof meals and the rice was so sticky. It didn’t taste fresh, a little bland. Not sure if that’s how it was meant to be. It was our first time trying Ghanaian Jollof. Small portions too. Definitely not worth the money we paid.

It’s my third time coming here to eat now and the food here is so amazing 😍 ! My second and third visit I had to bring my family as my friend along. it’s also super affordable as well. This is definitely my go to place in Leicester now . The customer service is amazing as well, the atmosphere and the music is 100% . In general a 100000/10, and I’d definitely recommend.

The waakye with assorted meat was really good.

I was looking forward to trying a new African restaurant. Felt like I landed in a tourist trap. I ordered Turkey and the meat was pretty much 70% bones. I would normally expect a piece like that to be served to a dog and not send out to a customer in a restaurant. Really sad, but that's how it was for me.

Friendly, polite, welcoming and helpful staff. I will recommend this place to anyone. Children friendly environment

I recently dined at Jollof Republic and found the jollof rice less seasoned than expected, and the meat was just okay. The standout was the spicy cheesy plantain dessert, which was unique and delicious. However, the prices felt quite high for the overall quality.

Collection was easy Place is very clean Quality of food very poor , the rice I got bad quality . Portions very small , Looking at the price and quality of food , I would be so generous to give a star. I don’t think I would go back

I really wanted to like this, especially being away from home.. but it was not special at all. The quality of the tilapia was poor - definitely not fresh. The jollof was reheated in the microwave multiple times, because of the hard texture. The flavours for the jollof was there, but the texture let it down tremendously. My husband really struggled chewing on the suya gizzard as it was really tough and he chocked a few times. Food should be your pride especially if it represent you. Do better 💁🏽‍♀️

I absolutely loved this restaurant . We went and it was quiet inside. The food was very nice , very well portioned and made me feel like I was at home! Service was good and the servers were really sweet. Would really recommend the puff puff !!

It was good but not spicy enough.

Food here was nice, service was good and a nice atmosphere. The wait time was a little lengthy but expected for an African restaurant. Parking is on the road, no dedicated parking, but there was places we could park quite easily. What you get here however is respect, and a welcoming vibe. The food is also tasty, and portion size for me was good although I personally don’t eat a lot. The ambience is nice aswell, soft and nice music, with seating available. Design was simple, minimal with touches of African bits making it really nice place to be. I would recommend this place if you’re in the neighbourhood.

I really enjoyed the jollof and fried yam and plantain was amazing. I was a bit disappointed with suya because it was not a regular suya but the spices were tasty. Apart from that, we lost a wallet there and the next day the owner was waiting for us to call. Very trustworthy people and very friendly. I always recommend. Dont forget to order Zobo as well. Amazing service. Tasty food.

Sadly wasn't the best experience as I was looking to get a deal from Groupon and when mentioned in there even though it's still advertising Groupon and the agent at the the counter said to me that it was available and then to find out from another person that is not available. So they seem to be confusion there and then secondly when I did have to pay full price for the food as there was no offer through the Groupon purchase which was a waste of time and money. The food was dry as the jollof rice seemed as though it had been made far too in advance tasted stale and the meat what I had on the rice as I had the goat was dry, definitely would not be paying a visit again there.

Driver dropped my food somewhere else, he didn’t call, left a message 15 minutes before he got here and left me outside in the cold, waiting for a food he dropped somewhere else, not happy at all.

Food here use to be so nice and flavourful absolute 10/10 it was my go to but now it’s just so spicy ruins it you can’t taste no flavour or spices it’s just ridiculously spicy.

This is my second order from here. The first was so good that a few days later I ordered again, only to be very disappointed . The prawns were dry and there was no peppers or veg with it like last time. The rice was SUPER dry it gave me hiccups trying to eat it. Like what happened today ?

Hard rice tough meat the mixed meat was just 4small gizzard and 4 very small pieces of goat which was too tough for £15. Food not well flavoured. Plantain 4 pieces for £3 is taking a piss. Which is a shame when there is a market for good african food

Lovely people, clean atomosphere , good menu . The only issue i have is consistency… on one occasion ordered the jollof with fish and had a full fish on another occasion had half a fish and felt slightly cheated… Also with the lamb chops.. ( there is a general understanding that lamb chops have alot of bone), but its disheartening when you see three small dried peices of meat with about 70% bone to meat ratio … and on another visit the lamb chops had more meat on the bone and were not as dry… Sometimes you do not know what to expect,, even if it is something you have ordered before…
