Sadly wasn't the best experience as I was looking to get a deal from Groupon and when mentioned in there even though it's still advertising Groupon and the agent at the the counter said to me that it was available and then to find out from another person that is not available. So they seem to be confusion there and then secondly when I did have to pay full price for the food as there was no offer through the Groupon purchase which was a waste of time and money. The food was dry as the jollof rice seemed as though it had been made far too in advance tasted stale and the meat what I had on the rice as I had the goat was dry, definitely would not be paying a visit again there.

Hard rice tough meat the mixed meat was just 4small gizzard and 4 very small pieces of goat which was too tough for £15. Food not well flavoured. Plantain 4 pieces for £3 is taking a piss. Which is a shame when there is a market for good african food

Lovely people, clean atomosphere , good menu . The only issue i have is consistency… on one occasion ordered the jollof with fish and had a full fish on another occasion had half a fish and felt slightly cheated… Also with the lamb chops.. ( there is a general understanding that lamb chops have alot of bone), but its disheartening when you see three small dried peices of meat with about 70% bone to meat ratio … and on another visit the lamb chops had more meat on the bone and were not as dry… Sometimes you do not know what to expect,, even if it is something you have ordered before…

I ordered two portions of jollof rice with large beef suya from Uber Eats.The jollof rice had an unexpected sweet flavor, reminiscent of cinnamon. The rice itself was somewhat firm and chunky, as if it had been cooked days in advance and reheated in a microwave. The beef suya portion was disappointing, containing only 8 small pieces of beef for £9. While the beef was nicely prepared, it lacked the authentic suya taste and seemed more like beef sautéed with vegetables. I would rate the rice a 3/10 and the beef suya a 5/10. Despite being one of the few African restaurants in Leicester, I'm uncertain about ordering from here again. It's puzzling how this place maintains a high rating, as it seems many people might not be familiar with genuine authentic flavors.

I am a truck driver on a delivery to leicester. Jollof Republic food is one of the best l have had on my many travels.. I had fried Rice with King Prawn and fried Plantain..The food was very tasty and l finished it all. The side goat suya didn't disappoint as well.

I got jollof rice with king prawns and some hot wings, and there were many different entrees and sides to choose from. The restaurant was very clean, the food was superb, affordable and the excellent service and music created a welcoming atmosphere. It's safe to say that I'll be back again!

Jollof was mass produced, lacked seasoning and was reheated in the microwave which made a lot of the rice grains hard and chewy. The fish was ok but nothing special for the prices they are charging I would of expected much more.

My first time ever trying Jollof rice and pufpuf, was absolutely delicious and a big generous portion!

Jollof Republic is our favorite restaurant in leicester. The food is fantastic and no matter what we order we are always delighted with our meal. Servers are also great and always efficient, happy and polite. Servers will also let you know about food allergies, by telling you or asking.Can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in leicester. I just over there yesterday to collect just delivery . Even I confirmed it but one of the staff girl say me in a rude way . Why you lying you not accepted . That’s not good. All drivers are not same . Very bad experience.

The suya goat was dry as !@#$. Got food poison. Bad food.. bad review. I ordered at around 8pm today. The order was jollof rice, suya goat. The jollof rice was very dry like it was microwaved, the suya goat was very dry, chewy and overcooked. Not long after eating it i had a bad stomach. That was the only food i ate today. Also this was my first time ordering food at your restaurant. First impression? Not good.

Went into the store and ordered Suya Turkey which wasn’t great and didn’t have an allergy warning on it. My partner has a peanut allergy. Had no idea Suya had any nut form in it and he had some Suya turkey and wasn’t well. It would had been nice for the shop to advice that Suyas main ingredient is peanut People come to the restaurant to try new tasty foods but there was no urgency to telling me I even took some time ordering because It was my first time there and there was no recommendations or advice what could be in the food like most restaurants would have done. Even though I could have asked most seasonings don’t contain nuts but if a restaurants main ingredient in food is peanuts they always make people aware if it’s not explicit or they even say their food may contain traces of nuts because of cross contamination they’d have an allergy chart accessible and visible on the counter when ordering which Jollof Republic did not. The whole process of ordering and waiting for food was off and awkward. If you can see your food being made and for a take away you’d want to see some sort of fuss and rush but there was none it took 15-20mines to watch my Jollof rice be microwaved and a small pot turkey to be made it wasn’t busy. I’m honestly just disappointed I wouldn’t try the restaurant again.

Had a little issue with my order but was speedily rectified by the staff member who took time out of his day to make me happy. Amazing customer service. The beef suya is mouth watering. Their goat meat is nice. The jollof rice could be better but I’ll definitely be trying more things off the menu. Good customer service goes a long way! I’d urge you guys to try out this new business :)

Portion sizes are really small. Please fill the container for takeaway. A couple of spoon fulls and I’m done. :( Rice is very tasty, will try a whole meal next time

The food was amazing, authentic and it tasted like we were right back home. The restaurant was clean with good music and an overall good vibe. The toilets were clean too and the staff was helpful. We went as a big party so the service was slightly slow and there was some confusion but they acted on our requests immediately and did as well as possible for a restaurant this new.

Hate to leave a negative for a new startup but bitterly disappointed by the portion size of the £12 Jollof with Goat. I realise that you need to economise and tread carefully as a new business but 4 small cubes of curried goat next to 2 portions of rice looked meagre at best…it was almost embarrassing, I was eating with a friend and didn’t have the heart to take a picture. Your food quality is good, the portions are rubbish, the lower end prices £6-8 are well priced, the £12 are way OTT for what we experienced (maybe the lady plating up was economising a tad too much) and fix the door, it doesn’t close property and it’s cold. I’d love for you to thrive, and you will providing you take the above feedback constructively

First time at Jollof and all I can say is AMAZING! I had the chicken but they serve lots of other options accompanied with super nice rice and plantain, will come back!

Amazing experience and great food, variety of dishes and sides to pick from, I had jollof rice with king prawns and also tried some hot wings. Food was freshly cooked and delicious, place was very clean with great customer service and great music creating pleasant atmosphere. Safe to say I will be returning again! 😊

A fantastic new place on the culinary map of Leicester, definitely a must to try option for delicious food.

Came across this place, Staff were very nice and accomodating. Good portions and great price, the Rice is not too oily and it is spiced very nicely. We ordered X2 rice with wings and chicken(drumsticks) with two sides Of fried plantain, Rice was very tasty and nicely spiced and the plantain was very moreish. The Suya goat was amazing, but when can you really go wrong with Suya. It is a shame that for a long time there wasn't many African takeaways in Leicester this is the best one I've tried will be going there again.

I don’t usually write reviews and given the contention around jollof I am usually hesitant about eating jollof rice outside… BUT… I gotta hand it to Jollof Republic on this one! if you want to experience the taste of real, tasty, authentic, homemade jollof then I highly recommend this place….. can’t fault anything I had in there… Also the place is really neat and well kept… including the toilet which is rare when you visit these diners and take away places! And their meat is halal as well which again is credit to them as most African restaurants don’t tend to serve halal meat… Honestly try it and thank me later…
