OGGI Simply Italian in Leicester

Had an amazing experience at OGGI for Valentine’s Day! The food was absolutely delicious, and every dish was packed with incredible flavor. The atmosphere was romantic, and the service was top-notch. Starter: A beautifully presented prawn dish, served in a delicate, flavorful broth with a hint of herbs and seasoning. The prawns were perfectly cooked, tender, and full of taste. Main Course: A stunning fillet of sea bass, pan-seared to perfection and served with a rich, buttery sauce. Accompanied by fresh vegetables and a side of citrus for balance, this dish was both elegant and satisfying. Dessert: A silky panna cotta with a perfect wobble, drizzled with a fruity berry coulis and garnished with a crisp red tuile. Light, creamy, and the perfect way to finish the meal.

My husbands expensive fillet steak was tough and when we told the staff they couldn’t have cared less.

Everything at Oggi was 10/10! The food was the best Italian I have tasted (I was ready to re-order the same dish again, that is how much I enjoyed it). My girlfriend was blown away by the ravioli, she usually never finishes her food when we eat out but this time she didn’t even leave me the leftovers! The service was prompt and Rino was great! The atmosphere of the restaurant itself is very cosy, from the moment you walk in you can tell this restaurant is going to be good! Would 100% revisit.

Had dinner yesterday - pre-booked. The food was mediocre and service was ridiculous! They couldn’t get us out of there fast enough - ‘us’ being two 60 year old women, not rude or disruptive. I had the veal Vitello. Sauce was fine. Veal was seriously overcooked, dry and tasteless. We ordered dessert… It was okay, but again, my last spoonful barely reached my mouth before the plates were whisked away 🙈. Honestly, I wouldn’t return.

Top service, authentic Italian food and fairly priced. Will definitely visit again and would highly recommend!

First time here and clearly it is a very lively and popular venue. Quality of food was excellent with generous portions. Staff were attentive and all courses arrived in a timely manner - at least up until dessert where after we seemed to become invisible as numerous staff members breezed past as we tried to order after-dinner coffee and a little later as we wanted to pay. Hopefully it was just because you were super-busy that night. Nonetheless, looking forward to coming back and trying some more of the delicious menu items!

Absolutely amazing food and service...it was a very busy Christmas lunch service but our food came out hot and was very tasty...we wouldn't hesitate to go back...best meal in a long time in a restaurant and good value for money 👍👍

Ahora soy habitual aquí, al menos una vez a la semana. He estado por todo el mundo, pero esto está ahí arriba con la mejor comida que he comido. Sin duda una de las mejores comidas italianas que he tenido en el Reino Unido. Los ingredientes son de calidad y se nota cuando está en el plato cocinado perfectamente. No es el más barato pero estás pagando por calidad, no me ha decepcionado. Estoy revisando el menú de gastos.

Restaurante muy acogedor, terrible noche en cuanto al clima. Fue un placer entrar en el restaurante caliente. Tenía Penne Al salmone, estaba delicioso y lo recomendaría encarecidamente. La casa roja también era muy potable. El personal es muy agradable. Recomendaría encarecidamente una visita a este encantador restaurante.

Went for a birthday treat here for my birthday it was amazing the starter, the main, the desert. All amazing the staff was very helpful and kind and made sure we was very taken care of, we deffo be back 😊😊

Classic Italian with a good range of pasta and seafood dishes. Although busy service was excellent; friendly but unobtrusive. Food is all cooked fresh but the wait was relatively short given the quality of what they are producing. I’d book ahead as it was pretty full when we there.

Amazing resturant food is always great

Nice but very loud and unfortunately a bit rushed even though we booked for 8pm. Nice authentic food. However, there are no potatoes served with the main course, only veg which were under cooked. Good portions and fresh but service rushed because they closed at 10pm on a Friday night. No time to relax with a drink or dessert. Why do they shut so early??? We were sat on a long table with a round table added on which made for uncomfortable seating. Felt like we were in the way. Unfortunately can't recommend 😕

Recientemente cené en Oggi’s y tuve una de las mejores comidas italianas que he experimentado! Para el plato principal, pedí la pasta con carne de res en una salsa de brandy, que fue simplemente excepcional. La pasta fue cocinada a la perfección, con ingredientes frescos y auténticos y una salsa que era rica y llena de sabor. Para terminar, tenía el tiramisú, y era celestial! Ligero, cremoso y equilibrado con la cantidad justa de sabor a café, honestamente, fue el final perfecto para una comida inolvidable. Si estás buscando auténtica cocina italiana, no puedo recomendar la suficiente de Oggi. Definitivamente volveré por más! El mejor italiano que he visitado.

Had many wonderful meals at Oggi and it is always our go to before going to the nearby De Montfort Hall theatre 🎭 . Would strongly advise booking as this restaurant is always extremely popular and quite rightly so. The staff are always extremely popular, special mention must go to Anu (there is an abundance of praise I could give). Anu is always ever so lovely and always goes the extra mile to ensure a great meal and all round experience, Anu is a credit to the Oggi team and always serves with a warm welcome and a smile and makes time to chat 😊 brilliant customer service and a credit to the Oggi team, certain dishes such as carbonara and scallops don’t appear on the menu, from personal experience I have ADHD and Autism so restaurants can be a huge struggle and asking for dishes that aren’t listed can cause me to panic, Anu is so thoughtful, patient and mindful of this and more than happy for me to order these dishes with no issues whatsoever, even checking that the table is ok for me and my family. In fact I would to as far to say that we now consider Anu a family friend ❤️ I heartily recommend the tiramisu which is the best I’ve tasted (and I’ve had a lot of tiramisu in my time being a favourite pudding 🍮) Can’t wait to return in a few weeks time before seeing Jools Holland. I had the scallops which were a 10/10 and the spaghetti Oggi. Everything from the ambience, reception and owner was nothing short of amazing. I absolutely recommend to anyone looking for good food and service.

The food was hit and miss unfortunately. I had an excellent starter and a main that seemed like it had been kept under a warmer too long before making the table so some of the pasta was a bit hard and dry at the top of the dish. I was just too exhausted to pass comment to the staff, so in fairness, they probably would have rectified the issue but someone in the kitchen should have noticed. it's a popular and favourite with regulars so maybe my main was just one mistake that got missed. The rest of the dishes served to our table were fine.

Oggi is amazing! Been back 3 times in a month and every experience is truly something memorable. Reno, the owner, is a fabulous and charming Sicilian and passionate about the food and his restaurant. The pasta is out of this world. Sublime would be how I describe what I had - spaagtti Oggi and the monkfish pasta. The house wines from Italy are also fantastic! Truly the best Italian restaurant in Leicester and one of the best I have tried!

We had the scallops gratinata, monkfish pasta, parppadelle calabrese and the spaghetti Oggi. All very well so done with excellent flavours. Wine by the glass was excellent as well! All topped off by a very warm owner and host, Reno. Obviously passionate about his craft! Highly recommend to pop by and have a meal here.

We have been visiting for over 3 years!! Forever will be our favourite restaurant. Rino especially makes this a fun experience every time we go. He is polite, fun & caters to everyone’s needs! I specially went for my birthday and he made it so special. The staff are great, excellent customer service & the food is exceptional … feels like we are in Italy! Must visit!!!

Went out for a work meal, the food came out all together and was super fresh, delicious and reminded me of my holiday in Rome. The team were really friendly and attentive. Lovely little resturant, cant wait to go again

We struggled to find a good place to eat on a Sunday evening, even with the place taking last orders at 9.30PM, they did let us arrive 5 minutes before so, order our food and drinks and enjoy it, the staff was on point 100% of the time, will come back.

My friend and I come for dinner here and really love it the waitress was super friendly and checked on us often even though the were really really super restaurant

Beautiful dining experience, fourth time here and I will scream this out: You HAVE to try the Cheesy Scallop dish (I forget the name) but it is divine, it’s very rich, and heavy, so one is enough for 3 to 2 very hungry people. All the other pastas: Seafood Signature and Arabbiata are lovely!

Booked table for 4. Restaurant was very busy when we arrived at 7pm. Lovely atmosphere and we were well received. Good service and excellent food.

OGGI is and always will be one of mine and my partners fav Italians! The staff are brill including Reno who makes you feel you are eating in Italy! The food never fails and the house wine is just perfect. Will always return here and never let down.

Wide choice of Italian dishes, all with Oggi's own twist. 6 of us had an evening meal, starters and mains. Each dish was well presented and portioned, and most importantly of all... delicious. Prices are not cheap, but Oggi's menu is worthy of the price tag. Would 100% recommend, and will 100% visit again.

Wonderful food. Three courses, all delicious. Rack of lamb was faultless. Tiramisu was the best ever.

Good was OK, nothing fantastic. I ordered the cannelloni, but it was dry and needed more sauce. Although they pride themselves to be authentic Italian dining, I love Italian food, and I've been to Italy, so I can truly say this place is not the best of Italian food.

If you love Italian food, OGGI is surely worth a visit. Every dish including starters, mains and desserts were simple and tasted absolutely bliss. We had the seafood spaghetti and you could taste the freshness in every bite. The service was spectacular and their knowledge of the menu was amazing. Would definitely revisit. They have a sister restaurant in Syston which is next on my list to visit.

Fantastic Italian restaurant, good food and service,

A very tasty restaurant with a great sense of humour and warmth from RENO and a great dining experience every time!

I had high expectations for this restaurant, as I’d heard good things. The restaurant itself is small and quite cramped. We had a table in the corner, and I could barely squeeze in. We had bruschetta and fried seafood. Both were decent portions and well cooked, particularly the scallops. For main, we had pasta and grilled fish. Again, good portion size and the fish was cooked perfectly. We were too full for dessert. Whilst the food was lovely, the restaurant was exceptionally loud, to the point we couldn’t hear each other. Of note, there is no where to park outside. In summary, food was good, but we wouldn’t rush back

Last Saturday evening my wife & I visited the restaurant at 9.00pmish and asked for a table. We were asked if we had booked a table and we said we had not. We could see the restaurant was reasonably full however there were a couple of empty tables so we were aware they were busy. The indian person working at front of house advised us he does have a table to offer us and then asked us ' How long are you going to be ? '. So we asked the person to clarify what he meant by the question and he repeated the question to us. I have never ever been in a restaurant where your offered a table & asked how long your going to be. We answered the person saying ' well that depends on your service and how quick the order comes once we have ordered'. In the end we decided if your going to ask us such a silly question then its not the place for so we left. The person was very rude. Shame really as the place looked like it had a good atmosphere.

Without doubt THE best Italian restaurant in Leicester. Service, food, drinks, ambiance ALL exceptional.

Pre-concert meal - our second visit. The food was faultless and absolutely spot on. It has the bustle and vibe of a truly lovely restaurant. Decent spritz as well!

One of, if not the best Italian restaurant in the city. The hospitality is second to none and has such a warm welcome. The food is marvellous and talk to the waiter about your choices. They are more than happy to talk you through things. My advice is to order from the specials board, you won't be let down, I promise. Booking is essential here regardless of day or time. I can't wait to return again soon.

Excellent food and service, we hadn't visited before but will definitely return. Staff and owner were fantastic and helped make our visit special. We were a party of 8 and were looked after and made very welcome.

Not even worth 1 star for service. Staff members are all very rude and disrespectful. Would never come again.

Was given a table next to kitchen, it was soo noisy, I think my eardrums are burst and I’ll be booking a hearing test asap. The sound of cutlery, dishes and things crushing was horrible. One of the waiters was a bit weird when I was ordering and I had constantly told him my hearing was blocked soo I couldn’t hear myself so I was pointing out the items I wanted to make it easier. One waiter constantly kept on talking over us and the food and also, how is the speed of my eating bothering you.

We went for our anniversary, I wasn’t happy that our food came out AFTER another table that came in well after us. The garlic bread was expensive for what it was, 4 tiny little slices. Overall was nice enough atmosphere and service but didn’t appreciate our main food was very late.

Have eaten here over the years food has never disappointed me Until the other week went into the evening meal ordered the spaghetti seafood speciality you get fueled with nothing like well I remember having their previously Look to me like the chef has changed as the standard on that is flying by the seat of dish was nowhere near to the standard I had in the past

Brilliant evening at Oggi Bistro. We had a warm welcome and the service was very friendly. The food was amazing! Well priced. It was our friend’s birthday and she received a tiramisu with a candle which was a lovely touch. It was the best tiramisu I’ve ever had! Two members of our party had quite difficult dietary restrictions and the kitchen was able to accommodate easily. Will definitely return!

Noisy. Noisy. Noisy. Speaking to your friends here will give you a headache as you'll have to shout all the time. The place is crowded enough so there's definitely something likeable but it's not for me. All the food was average. Maybe if you're a fan of seafood you'll find something good here. Quite difficult to understand the person who was waiting on us. Also felt as if "we're in the way" if we take some time to gloss over the menu. But he walks and talks with confidence so who knows... I've included the bill for 4 people.

Fresh, authentic and traditional Italian family run restaurant. Tasty and fresh ingredients used. Good option menu offering vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. Great drinks menu too. Perfect dining out with family and friends.

Nice ambience and delicious food. Very tasty. Service could be better, it took forever for our orders to be taken and the food to come out. We sat over an hour. It does feel quite authentic Italian once you walk in. All in all, good value for money and I'll be back again.

Did not expect it from Leicester, but this small Italian restaurant was a pleasant surprise in terms of price, speed of service and food quality. Proprietor is quite a character himself.

This was my 5th visit to Oggi, it was my first time taking the parents there as they were visiting. As ever, the food was great; on this front, Oggi remains the best Italian in Leicester and possibly in the whole Midlands, especially when you take value into account. The lasagne is still one of the best you'll find anywhere and it's great to see a place that doesn't step down in quality with its vegetarian options. The food is not matched by the service, which is not terrible but needs some work. Several waiters looked sullen, though the waiter who served our wine seemed more enthusiastic and was even happy to talk about the different wines they offer. Mixed bag there. The owner is...eccentric, but usually quite accommodating. I'll be back for the food and hope the service will be a little more polished/friendly next time. The bill came to £40 a head all in (for a starter and a main each plus a bottle of wine shard and a tip).

Authentic Italian food served well with good atmosphere.. good quality own lager.. high quality tiramisu similar to the one in Italy.. the milanzana parmigiana was to die for.. good table layout and clean facilities.. the owner is so lovely and on the shop floor.. we would definitely come again

It is such a good place to have Italian food and the service they have provided was fabulous and presentation and taste of the food was delicious. It is bit congested, however that point can be ignore when we have such a fine and neat & clean place in town.

An absolute gem of a restaurant. We booked tonight for our 6th year anniversary and we loved it! Never been before, but will be back again and again. The food, the drinks, the service, the environment - all exceptional. I do love Italian restaurants, and this one is right up there. Awesome!!

One of the best Italian restaurants in Leicester. The ambience is great, staff are friendly and really helpful. The team made a huge effort in helping with a birthday celebration. Thank you. Definitely worth a visit if you're around. Try the Arrebiata sauce. Faa--boo--lous!!
