Altro Mondo in Leicester

Lovely Restaurant with ample space for our family. The food and service was excellent with a varied menu and the usual suspects on the menu for those with more conventional tastes. The range of drinks was good. It’s on a busy main road but drops and pickups by taxi are no issue. Would gladly return.

Sadly, we won't be coming here again. I came on valentines day with my partner and we were sat right in the middle of a walk way, the table shook everytime the staff walked past and people lingering at the bar were uncomfortably close to our table. Luckily, the staff did agree to move us on request, which was great. Unfortunately, the food wasn't much better than the table arrangements. I had the king prawns to start with (all of them with the feceas intact that are supposed to be removed during preparation). We both had the beef for main which was swimming in a really sweet red wine reduction. Then, during dessert there was a man who went over to each table to introduce himself as the nights entertainment, which turned out to just be a middle aged man singing 80s music to us on karaoke. It was really out of place and was really awkward. This wasn't authentic Italian food, they were understaffed and the food just wasn't up to par with the other Italian places in Leicester. Funnily enough, our uber driver home was Italian and chuckled when we said where we had been and confirmed, alto mondo does not serve Italian food and he gave some alternative suggestions for next time.

We came here Friday for my friends birthday .. it was truly an amazing time. Tania was so helpful she put some decorations that I had bought around for my friend to see when she arrived. The waitresses were so good. Could not do enough for us all. Carlos was there and he let us use the kareoke at theh end of the evening. !! Thank you.. ( hope we were not to loud ) ... haha. We all had such a laugh and the food ... was sto die for xxx

It’s a lovely small restaurant, with caring and attentive staff, and the best Italian food I’ve had. Definitely recommend the lasagna. The portion sizes are excellent and the price is very good as well.

We went to altro mondo for dinner last night before a gig in Leicester. The atmosphere is lovely, the staff are the nicest friendly people you'll meet and the food is to die for. If you're in Leicester you need to go eat here 😋

I cannot praise Alto Mondo enough. We had a meal on Friday 12th July. Service was first class, food was top quality as usual and due to a small medical problem my Auntie had, the staff exchanged her meal without any fuss. Thank you to everyone who works there.

Lo que un gran hallazgo era una manera de trabajar y nos encontramos con esto y pensamos que lo intentaríamos. el personal era amable y nos dio la bienvenida nos consiguió un asiento. Había una gran fiesta y nos preguntaron si nos ordenaban que nos aseguraran de que nuestra comida saliera primero, lo que hicieron. La comida era grande y verdadero italiano algunos de los mejores que he tenido fuera de Italia. Los servicios eran para notar también.

Una primera visita antes de un espectáculo en el Teatro Curve, así que un comienzo muy temprano (5 pm) para la cena. No es nuestro estilo habitual, así que estaba deseando ver cómo funcionaría. Los amigos habían dicho lo buena que era la comida y el servicio de sus propias experiencias. Yo iría más allá de eso. Aparte, como era de esperar desde un comienzo tan temprano, al ser muy tranquilo, todo lo demás fue excepcional. Desde la cálida bienvenida hasta el expreso final nada podía faltar. La calidad de todas nuestras comidas (6 en la fiesta) , era excepcional, el servicio justo lo que quería - tranquilo, discreto, amable y puntual con los tiempos. Una mesa de ventana con vistas a una vista azul del Mediterráneo habría redondeado la comida perfectamente, en su lugar nos fijamos en un sitio de construcción en un Leicester muy empapado! No te preocupes, todos podemos soñar. Volveremos muy pronto, pero un poco más tarde en la noche para que también podamos experimentar el ambiente borroso del que hablan los amigos. Gran relación calidad-precio y una joya absoluta de un restaurante.

What a lovely place! Visited with my sister for a pre-theatre treat. Staff very friendly and food was very good and reasonably priced. Very clean too! Shame it’s in a grim part of Leicester - they deserve better. Well done

El personal encantador y el chef y el personal de cocina han presentado comida de calidad una y otra vez. Amazing food!! Definitely go back a third time…this was our second. The pre-theater steak was to die for!! Very attentive staff.. The price is very much in line with the quality of food. The atmosphere is amazing and nice and relaxed.

We visited today as a party 10 and the service was impeccable, The food was fantastic and the staff also and it was such a relaxed experience considering how many there were of us. Will definitely visit again!

My visit to Altro Mondo in Leicester was average overall. The food was decent but lacked distinction, and the service was passable but not particularly attentive. While it's an okay option for a quick meal, it doesn't offer anything memorable or exceptional for me.

I went to this restaurant with my brother for his graduation, we have an amazing night, we are vegetarians and I was happy to see the options for vegetarians in the menu, we tried the risotto with vegetables and the calzone vegetarian, everything was lovely. I’ll come for sure

Amazing food before the show, with my fiancé with we decided to have a meal before the show and we tried the pre theatre menu, the chicken was amazing, and the steak was delicious. Very good price and nice staff.

2 Friends and I went for a meal before going to the Curve . It was absolutely Beautiful ! Fresh and very reasonably priced x The waiting staff were friendly but not overpowering 🙂

The filleto Rosmarino is to die for, good portion, very nice staff and amazing environment, I went with my mother, and she loved everything. We come back soon.

I highly recommend this place. After the show in the Curve, We went for a dinner with my partner and the food was amazing, we ordered the calamari and prawns for starters and then we decided to try the Steak Mozarella and the pork with Mushrooms, those were absolutely fantastic. In the end we decided to finish our meal with a lovely portion of profiterols, they were fresh and tasty. Will definitely be back.

The atmosphere amazing and staff as well. I ordered the calamari and loved it.Really good ones and also, penne amatriciana,the taste was really good,like home-made but pasta was a bit too forced al dente,I should’ve mentioned it to them to boil pasta more for me. But next time for sure🥰🙏🏼 Really recommend.

This is a very nice place for dinner. We went on a weekday and it was rather empty. The ambience was modest but done well. The service was very good, I have to point out. We had the mixed platter for two and it was quite good. For dessert I had the tiramisu. It came out freshly made and was very good. I can heartily recommend this place.

This is probably one of my favorite resturants in leicester, how is it not packed all of the time. Very good and reasonably priced food, better and fresher tasting than oggi, green door and sappori , give it a try you wont regret it x

I’ve had risotto a few times and I never liked it. I still don’t like risotto. If you like risotto I’m sure you’d love their seafood risotto. I still had to add salt, pepper, and fresh Parmesan. My husband loved his puttanesca and my son loved his lasagna. The espresso was fantastic. The cheesecake was more whipped cream like to me. We also had a bottle of white wine from Italy. We had all this food and it was way cheaper than most restaurants we’ve been to. I’d go back and get seafood pasta instead of the risotto. The staff was friendly and the bathrooms were clean. This place is definitely worth a visit. If I ever go to Italy I would try risotto there and then I’d know for sure if I’m not a fan lol 😝 until then, pasta only. 🧡

We’ve been coming here for years now and it’s never falters. Food is delicious and authentic, staff are so welcoming and attentive and it’s great fun coming on a Friday or Saturday evening. Haven’t sampled the party menu but given the quality of the food I imagine it’s a steal at £27 per person for 4 courses. Definitely recommend, a hidden gem in Leicester.

We had a terrific meal just right for pre-theatre. Although the pre-theatre menu is limited the quality of the food and service is very good. Looking forward to visiting again.

It might not have been the prettiest plate of food I've eaten but I could not fault the taste. My steak was cooked to absolute rare perfection, one of the best I can remember! The dolcelate sauce was heavenly and I ate more of the potato wedges than I probably should trying to mop it all up! The staff were friendly and helpful, on hand for anything we needed without hovering. If I had to criticise anything, it would be the lack of a side plate for the very generous (everything about the portions was generous) salad that came with the meal. Can't believe I hadn't found this place before, will definitely be returning!

We booked a table for early on a Wednesday evening and found we were the only diners in a large restaurant. As a consequence the general atmosphere wasn't wonderful. The quality of the food and service made up for it,however. Located in the centre of Leicester with reasonable on street parking close by.

This restaurant had amazing and tasty food. The service was fantastic and servers were working so hard to ensure we had everything we needed. Couldn’t fault a thing. Thank you for a great evening. Will definitely be coming back again.

Went for a 50th birthday party. Brilliant night, food was delicious and the karaoke was a blast. Staff were excellent, particularly Angie and the other girl who worked so hard to make it a night to remember. Kudos to to the karaoke entertainer (Steve?) And to Angie for joining us on the karaoke. Would definitely recommend and be returning?

We made a spur of the moment visit to the restaurant based on its good reviews and we’re not disappointed. We were in early as we were visiting the theatre later. The staff reassured us that they would get us served and away in time and had a pre theatre menu offer. Our waitress was friendly and helpful, and things were well run even though the owners were away that week. Excellent food and drink was provided. Everything was very well done and at a very reasonable price. We will be back,

We had another lovely meal here on Saturday evening. It was busy but we were looked after brilliantly by Ana and her brother Milui. What a hard working pair and so smiley and pleasant. They are a credit to the business.

Had the set summer menu as it was a leaving do. Food was nice though I'm not sure i would have served salad with the lamb. Karaoke was a laugh and everyone sang along. Only down fall of the evening, was if paying by card for drinks at the bar, the minimum spend was £20. Take cash with you.

Problem with this place is short staff and ignorant and intolerant owners. By this I mean that you can’t request a single change from any item on the menu. You can’t request they don’t put a certain topping on a pizza. You can ask for it to be less spicey. And the poor waitress is running around chasing her tail. She is lovely but the owners aren’t. Food is hit and miss.

Visited on the weekend based on reviews. A really pleasant experience only slight let down was the inedible lamb chops that were served as part of the mixed grill.Thankfully the portion size was generous enough that we were still full and once we pointed it out, swift action was taken to put things right. The karaoke lent a really nice atmosphere, and the service staff was top-notch, professional. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

We visited Altro Mondo two weeks running prior to going to the nearby theatre. They have an extensive menu for pre theatre and À la carte of traditional Italian meals. The quality of the food and presentation is exceptional. We were really well looked after in terms of service. The restaurant is immaculate. It is well laid out and a pleasure to dine in. A great place for quality food and service in a relaxing environment.

Delicious!! We’ve tried the place as it was recommended by our friends and I cannot express how amazing the food is! We been served by Ana which it is such a lovely person and also Mihai looked after us. Steak and pollo parmegiano was extremely delicious! Overall will recommend 100% ! We will definitely return.

We had tickets for the theatre and wanted to eat before. Some places are fairly slow in serving, so we allowed a generous couple of hours. We needn’t have worried. The service was efficient, friendly and generally spot on. The pre theatre menu is great value and offers a good choice of dishes. Ours were very tasty, and we had time to add great puddings too. I was not surprised to see that the place was filling up with customers by six pm, so it would be wise to book.
