It feels like a miscellaneous place for a department store. If you take advantage of sales, you can have a good shopping experience.

Went in to buy a phone case, clearly they have no one doing stock management as there was barely anything available. Tried to ask a member of staff but they were busy chatting so didn’t bother. Wouldn’t go back.

John Lewis – the shopping wonderland where you can find everything from designer clothes to a couch that says, ‘Yes, I’m an adult now.’ It’s like someone took all your shopping needs, put them in one place, and then sprinkled a bit of magic on top. Whether you're hunting for the perfect perfume or pretending you're a child again in the toy department (no judgment), there’s something for everyone. And here’s the best part – they have a secret parking garage! It’s like a shopper’s Batcave, minus the crime-fighting but with all the retail therapy. Pro tip: go for the parking, stay for everything else!

A pleasant experience shopping here today. Staff are extremely helpful. The restaurant area smelt fabulous although we didn't eat there.

Nice store to wander around in but goodness knows where the staff are! Nobody asked us if we needed any assistance when we were looking at tech. Unfortunately, this notion was felt by a gentleman who started to shout at members of staff after they hadn’t asked him if he needed assistance.

I came back to the store the same day to return some airpods i bought earlier in the day that after trying i disliked. Upon mentioning it to one staff member before i knew it 6 or 7 came over and started making various comments about the fact the seal was obviously broken or that i had quite a few headphones already on the bluetooth list on my phone. Its none of your business how many pairs of headphones ive owned in my lifetime. The whole atmosphere in this store is bizarre and uncomfortable & you should know better than to treat a customer asking for a refund as instantly suspicious, 7 members of staff & management giving me some sort of grilling & ridicule wasn't on tbh

The closest Cheltenham has to a proper nice posh department store as you'd expect to find in a larger city - can't be blasé about that

The delivery by Evri was absolutely hopeless. The parcel was just thrown over the gate. Please, please don't use Evri, any other carrier will be better.

Excellent service today from Khlorie when shopping for a new pram. Khlorie took time to talk us through the different brands and benefits of each travel system without rushing or pushing us. She’s given us a really good idea of what we will need and was able to answer all our questions. We’ll definitely be back!

A favourite retail environment. Modern retail establishments can often be bland and soulless in their attempt to be ‘all about the brand’…. not in this case though! JLP’s designers have created a sophisticated, contemporary space that works brilliantly well to disguise the scale of premises, the creation of different discrete zones maintains interest as you progress through the store (just like it used to be in the days of large department stores but somehow with a modern twist.). The natural daylight in the centre of the retail area brightens the space. This store covers all your needs for ladies/gents/children’s clothing, homewares, luggage, electrical and white goods, decorative lifestyle, home furnishings, beauty products, stationery and two places to eat. Highly recommended.

Amazing sales staff in Bathroom cabinets dept. I felt a valued customer in all respects. Zach in customer service was standout and is a great ambassador for the Partnership - he is the future and should be encouraged to progress. The top floor is where you should visit Nice cafes and restaurant. A fantastic kitchen department.

Jasper From the Cheltenham store called me as I requested a call back. He introduced himself, provided reasons for the call, he had informed me that the products have been arranged. I had asked Jasper to add another product which he went and searched for in store given there was only 2 left. He promptly called back to confirm the order. He also reserved an item at another store for me to collect at my request. Such a great example of a fantastic customer service experience. Jasper really went over and beyond his duty to ensure 1000% satisfaction. Such amazing service! @John Lewis Cheltenham - Jasper should be recognised for his invaluable customer service and talent. Two puddles of dog urine and a disgusting toilet spoilt our shopping experience.

Went for a coffee & cake at around 12:45. Cafe not busy at all but service for hot drinks was poor. The lady serving was slow & seemed inefficient although she was extremely polite. Goodness how she copes during busy periods as it took ages to make my coffee. After a long wait, she realised she'd made me a latte instead of a cappuccino! There was a male member of staff just hovering around the cakes doing nothing & another staff member (female) faffing around with saucers. Why either of these couldn't have stepped in to help is a mystery. I didn't have the feeling that any of them were on the ball. Heaven help customers during busy periods, they'll have a very long wait.

Good selection of high-quality kitchenware and helpful staff. However I once tried to buy a charging cable and due to the security lock it took 20 minutes for me to be able to get it!

We bought a TV on 24 Dec that was not properly installed. Getting this done involved 2 visits. It then turned out that there was pixilation and that it didn't synchronise sound and vision. We have had 2 further visits. Synchronisation is still not right. Attempts to get John Lewis to deal with it simply result in my being referred back to technical support which is the bit of the organisation that has failed so far. As recently as a few days ago I got yet another stock email again moving me from pillar to post. This told me that technical support wanted to ring. When I did of course they didn't even recognise the ref no and I was expected to start again from the beginning. How do I get some customer service.?

The place to eat Cafes are always difficult the place is a tip Dirty tables of the 12 tables around me 5 are still loaded with crockery It took me a long time to find a clean table The lady on the cakes was very stretched and so helpful despite being under pressure The offer 2 prices of cake and Prosecco no Prosecco out of stock the girl on the till was having to leave the till to fulfill requests to get napkins I spoke to the customers in front of me and I said do you think this is organised chaos as we were waiting to pay they agreed The lady on the drinks was lovely and working on her own of those that were working hard which was 3 I saw as many staff walking or fiddling about doing nothing This is store of the year what is the last store of the year like These people need some help please

Where are all the staff in the cafe?! It took ages to get served. By the time we sat down our coffee was cold and the majority of tables were dirty.

Sent me home with a damaged item of clothing. When I noticed I went back to the store and they refused to exchange or refund me insinuating I’d damaged the item. Conned me of £60.

We bought some coffees and a cake from John Lewis' cafe called The Place to Eat☕️ It was our first time ordering from here and we thought the atmosphere was so lovely and wholesome. Our coffees were a bit bitter and the cups were quite small but everyone has different preferences, so we didn't mind :) However the pumpkin spice cake was absolutely delish! Also the staff were very nice, the service was quick too. Overall we had a great experience❤️

Ate at their Cafe "A Place to Eat". Chips were nice and hot. Peas were tasty, however the fish was over heated and a bit hard. The toastie was nice, so was the quiche.

I don't like the way JL is going. Hiving off the flooring section to a franchise is one thing. Getting a phone call from them to chivvy us up on a purchase is quite another.

Try to return unwanted gifts from John Lewis. They were branded John Lewis products.I did not have a recipt of proof of purchase as it was a gift. The products were sealed and unopened. I was told they were not able to even give a credit note. It was a computer said no moment! Not great customer service for a company which prides itself on its service. No understanding or flexibility.

Every time we go there, the staff are lovely, approachable and helpful. ☺️

I went Christmas shopping and one of the things I wanted to get was perfume for my wife. So I went into John Lewis in Cheltenham. All I wanted was “just” perfume with the EXPECTATION of potentially buying the perfume, pay and go like other shops. Not this time. I came across Julianna. For something which is normally a mundane transaction turned into a buying EXPERIENCE. To use the tired worn out phrase “BEYOND EXPECTATIONS” would not be fair to Julianna. This was TRULY beyond expectations. She was very friendly, approachable while maintaining full professionalism. She packed the perfume in a Dior bag and made it look fantastic and presentable rather than just drop it in. I asked her where the men’s fragrances are so I can tell my wife what I want to get and without asking, she gave me some free samples to try out. Customer service like this is rare in todays retail industry and I certainly commend her. What an asset Julianna is to your company!

The John Lewis in Cheltenham was great to attend. It’s a shame that the Birmingham City centre branch at the Central had to closed. Hence why I travelled to Cheltenham to do some of my Christmas shopping. The staff were professional and friendly. Good traditional service, without being pushy. Keep up the good work.

Excellent store, one of the best John Lewis branches I’ve been in to. Great selection of items to see, friendly and helpful staff and a live DJ at the front to get people into the Christmas spirit.

Went for Coffee on Sunday at JL Cheltenham. Store closes at 4.30 and advertised closing time of Coffee shops was 4.00pm. Went to both Coffee shops in the store at 3.10 to be told they were now closed. Customers sat in the coffee shops still at 4.10 when I passed again. Shocking service. I called the store number to let them management team know that this was not really the kind of service JL were known for. However you can only get through to an automated service that then takes you to a call centre in South Africa who can not put you through and only offer a call back after they have contacted the store. Really! This shows now concern for genuine feed back and is so inefficient . JL you have lost the plot and a loyal customer.

The lady in Charlotte tilbury with the dark hair and nose studs was absolutely amazing. Perfect customer services alongside with extensive product knowledge which absolutely wowed me Definitely should not go unnoticed she needs a pat on the back

Chaotic layout makes finding anything virtually impossible. No prices on or anywhere near many of the items, some with misleading labels that are for a different product. Limited staff who mainly seemed to have to go and ask someone else before they could answer my query. I had to go to 3 different areas of the store, before I found the Christmas gift tags, bizarrely they were nowhere near the Christmas shop. Solihull store has always been better run than Cheltenham, I won’t be going back to the Cheltenham store.

Lovely visit to John Lewis today. A big thank you to Karen showing me the bags at Coach she was so helpful and knowledgeable about the bags and interested to know my style. If you are thinking about treating yourself for Xmas I would definitely take the time to see her.

Very small cups. Most branches of John Lewis cafe offer you a mug as a regular size cup of coffee. For some reason Cheltenham offer a small tea cup and charge the same price

I came into John Lewis today for a return and was met with quite rude abrupt service from staff member Sian, on an item which was bought recently and I had opened the plastic wrapper so was unable to receive a refund. She was not empathetic to the issue I had. My recent experience with John Lewis customer service left me not wanting to come back into the shop. :(

We’ve been planning a family for a long time and would always have a look at the baby gear at John Lewis in particular the buggies. Well it finally happened and we’re expecting twins! Tried to phone the store to see if they had the double buggy we needed, the lady on the phone was not familiar with the brand and we were not able to talk to anybody on the shop floor, we were told that no they did not have this buggy. Fast forward a few weeks later and we found ourselves in John Lewis looking at baby things and there it was, the very same brand and model of buggy we had previously phoned about (we were told it had always been there), at this point, we had already placed an order for the buggy With mamas and papas. It amazes me how bad the customer service has got at Jhon Lewis, this would have been an easy couple of grand for them. We don’t bother with them anymore as there’s no difference between them and other local shops. I really hope they can sort themselves out.

My nan and I have both recently purchased apple watches. We were helped out by Michael J who helped us to find what we were looking for, he provided excellent customer service and was extremely friendly :) we are both very happy with our watches and would come back again.

Quality department store, the retail shopping experience was superior. Slightly unorganised in terms of finding your way around. Clothing and electronics sections all mixed. But overall solid shopping experience. Pleasant staff

Great store in the centre of Cheltenham. Very helpful and polite staff whatever department you chose. There's a large cafe upstairs at the back of the store with a great selection of food and drinks at reasonable prices.

I was very grateful to receive genuinely helpful advice when buying sunglasses. I feel happy that I have made the right buying decision and that was thanks to the service that I received.

Had a great experience using the personal styling service. My stylist (Rosie) had everything ready for me to try on, it was much less overwhelming than wandering about the store. She was so responsive to what I liked/didn't like and we found me an outfit very quickly. I really enjoyed trying a few things on that I wouldn’t usually have picked out. The changing room was large, clean and really comfortable. Just a great experience, I can’t wait to come back!

Nice store but I would *NOT RECOMMEND* using the car park. The ramps up and down levels are only just wide enough for a car making turning into them very difficult

John Lewis staff in Cheltenham are the most obnoxious people I’ve ever dealt with. The arrogance and snotty manner is astounding. Elliott the Security Officer escalated a conversation into a conflict with his Gangster attitude towards customers. Elliott will be hearing from my Solicitor first thing in the morning. Do not attempt to return anything to John Lewis Cheltenham especially if you’re not White.

Completely fed up with the service at JLP Cheltenham, mainly the baby department but also make-up. I’m 8 months pregnant & waited a good 15/20mins today with a question about car seats. There was 1 assistant listening to another lady this whole time, who was clearly just browsing and chatting with her mother. At no point did she acknowledge me or say she’d be there in a minute. I interrupted in the end to see if there was anyone else, because I couldn’t stand for much longer. She then said she’d get someone but still no one came so I had to drag the equipment off the top shelf to work it out myself. I was planning on spending the best part of £500 but was so physically uncomfortable I had to leave. Now at home I’m fairly sure I have a pulled stomach muscle from hauling stuff around. Mentioned to guy on main check out, wasn’t fussed. This is not the first time and even when you do get someone the level of knowledge is relatively poor in comparison to other stores (the guy in the High Wycombe store for example is fantastic but sadly we don’t live near anymore).

Thanks so much to the person that yesterday afternoon was collecting and leaving the table spotless for me in Place to eat ; so patience and friendly staff, best customer service ever. I love the coffe and cakes most and the salads are fresh and tasty as well, more than enough choices.

Disappointed to see Nesspresso had gone , wanted to buy capsules , and drop off recycling , your staff at till not happy to take my recycling !!!! And quite dismissive . Not received anything on my email from you to say they were going. Staff in perfumery were aroubd chatting when I needed assistance had to go find someone to serve ! Not good . Clarins staff very good but hadn’t got enough of the products I needed in stock . Used my afternoon tea voucher in hufkins restaurant, staff not brilliant . Not a great experience in Cheltenham over the weekend m sorry to say 😰

We keep coming back. We align with the ethos of good, honest, sustainable products and service. It just works rally well. Always helpful partners who give honest personal experience advice. One of the smaller jlp stores but more than enough choice. If not in stock then fast delivery to home. Tech support brilliant. A reasonable charge for setting up a mobile phone. Saves hours of messing about. Soup always good in the cafe. Well done.

John Lewis Curtains & Blinds Fitting service should be avoided, after 8 weeks still waiting, I email them, get a reply, we are looking into it, I reply is that it, then emails are replied with "out of office away on leave". 3 visits to the store, finally get an appointment to fit, cancelled with 48 hours' notice, I am told fitter is sick ?. Next appointment 2 weeks, if you speak with them on the telephone, there staff do not seem to understand you are annoyed and put the phone down, unless you calm down and be very nice, OVERALL BEST AVOIDED.

Great selection and lovely cafe. Also has great baby changing and feeding facilities (microwave available in the cafe).

Dodgy and misleading discount signs all over the shop. Very poor experience. Dirty and broken fitting rooms. How far they have fallen as a retailer

I love shopping in John Lewis.I work in town so find it convenient now to park in John lewis car park.However, my first day parking was lovely.......until I returned at 6pm and didnt know where to get back into the car park as the store was closed.I looked around Albion St for the door and 2 members of John Lewis staff said you cant go in here its for staff I replied I know it is, I just want to find the stairs to the car park.They said you'll have to walk up the ramp....this was not helpful at all and extremely dangerous. So I waited and another member of staff came out and he was so kind and helpful and showed me the scanner for my phone qr code and the door to the stairs. Can I suggest you let your staff know about the access points for customers as other people may have the same predicament I had . Many thanks.

My husband and I called into John Lewis, Cheltenham, this morning as we were having trouble with a sound bar we purchased from them in 2022. Martin from the Audio Department was excellent in explaining what the trouble was and said he would ‘phone us later to see if we had managed to correct it. True to his word Martin ‘phoned us and from his expert instructions we sorted the problem out. Thank you Martin for all your help.

Lovely Easter display, everything as usual except furniture dept which looked sort of thrown together, mismatched chairs and scratched background boards - not up to usual standard. Staff helpful and friendly

One Word, Ridicules, How come after accepted the order it says out of stock. Such a shame. I won't buy anything from this anymore neither any recommendation for family and friends.

Absolute garbage purchase for which there was no meaningful apology. Purchased a roller blind which I was suspicious of when I went to use as one end had been sellotaped. Roller mechanisms missing. went back to store and obtained mechanisms only to then find the blind had been cut to a shorter width - totally 2nd hand. I used to respect the Lewis brand but not anymore. 1 star is the lowest possible !! Can whoever wrote to me from Lewis' please get in touch again as now found receipt🙄!!

John Lewis is just a lovely store to shop in its got everything you could wish for..

Lovely new store, great selection of men's, women's and kids clothing, with some premium brands and less expensive brands. An amazing range of beauty and fragrance products. A great range of furniture and homeware too, from Beds to washing machines it's all there. Also a good range of tech products from cameras, TV's, game consoles to phones and even a range of peloton products for you fitness needs. Also there are two eateries here.

Nice store full of well designed products. Why aren't more retailers this good?

Still a pleasant experience, from arrival in car park, lift down, and wandering about. We came to look at TVs (one very old one to replace), and lights. We bought a TV (hopefully will keep us going... for 10 years, if we're still here!), two modest lights, and an enjoyable snack lunch in Hufkins (got a table quickly even though it was lunchtime). Could have spent £Ks more - if we had it to spare!

Beautiful store in Cheltenham. Always enjoy shopping in JL and refer to JL before I buy anything. As always pleased with my purchases in readiness for Christmas. Great value and excellent products always available.

Very helpful staff, but wanted to buy a healthy saucepan with no aluminium. They didn't have one!!!! They have large Le Cruset pans. No good for boiling some veggies!!! Buyers please note you should do more to accommodate people who are truly green and want to help the environment and people's health !!!!!

Brilliant customer care services! I needed some heater fans desperately and have been able to order them in time because of the excellent customer care services provided by the Cheltenham team - Kevin in Operation and Natash in Sales. Both Kevin and Natash have been so helpful (running up and down the stairs, checking the availability of the products, answering my queries regarding the cost efficiency of the products etc.) with so much patience! As usual, high standard of service from John Lewis. THANK YOU!

We love John Lewis. Just stopped for my reward and some new hand towels. Just had another reward of a hot drink and cake for two people. Thank you John Lewis fabulous treat while in town. A lovely store with some great offers. The Christmas trees are now in stock with some beautiful ornaments and baubles.

Two ladies that helped me in the lingerie dept. were amazing. Turns out i’ve been wearing the wrong size for years, and 24 hours into wearing my new bra I no longer have shoulder pain! They were so professional and helpful, made what can be a slightly awkward experience feel comfortable and productive. And they were so knowledgable about which bras are actually going to be comfortable day to day. Totally great experience, wish I’d asked their names; brown haired lady and ginger haired in-training lady. Thanks!
