Celebratory birthday meal, ate in not takeaway. Fantastic food, great atmosphere, we just mentioned it was daughter's birthday & they brought her a cake at the end of the meal & sang her happy birthday! The hotpot looked great, going back to try that soon. NB. it's cash only

Can't recommend the hotpot enough. If the staff ask whether you want them to prepare their house satay sauce for you: say yes!

Jin Jin went to enormous trouble to get my takeaway to me. The courier wasn't English and he struggled to find my flat. It was worth the wait and my takeaway was delicious. The staff are very helpful and their menu is extensive and delicious.

Fantastic as usual - will be returning. Excellent hot food, good value, and fantastic service. I would recommend the banquets.

Three of us enjoyed a fabulous meal at Jin Jin (Friday 8th December), we had not visited before. We chose set menu B and were not disappointed. First thing we noticed was the genuinely warm welcome from the ladies serving. It was a cold evening and they made sure the heater was turned on and immediately brought a pot of hot jasmine tea. The food was absolutely fantastic, fresh, plentiful and hot. We were not rushed into leaving, even as they were getting busy. Many thanks to all at Jin Jin for a great meal in a lovely atmosphere . We look forward to returning.

I have always liked this place, but my takeaway tonight was very disappointing. Hard, dry ribs (even though they're in sauce), and tasteless noodles. Shame.

Ordered via their website at about 6pm for a 7.30pm delivery. After two phone calls food eventually arrived at 8.45pm. Totally unacceptable. They blamed the traffic. Dont bother using this place for home delivery as this is the second time it has happened.

Awful. Crap and AVOID. Wasn’t cheap and simply couldn’t get delivery to us in under 2 hours!! 🤦‍♂️FFS!!! Bad management! Had to call and was just treated with the usual BS. If you can’t serve it in good time, just say! Shame as we heard good things about this place. Back to other good eateries

The sweet and sour chicken was so succulent and although the waitress had an airpod in her ear she was amazing! The background music was ultra soothing and the decor was both manic and sexual. There were parts of the meal where I thought I was in a fantasy film. Thank goodness it wasn't, I really don't know how that combination would have worked! Amazing place :)

Walking around Cowley Road looking for somewhere to eat and stumbled on Jin Jin, what a stumble!! This place cooks and serves outstanding, authentic Chinese food, I have not enjoyed a Chinese meal like this in a very very long time. Do not believe the comments about it being expensive because it isn't, it is far from expensive. It was stacked out with Chinese students who go most days for their dinner. I got talking with the owner and she was explaining that her husband does all the cooking whilst she works out front. If you like a decent Chinese then you will not go wrong in going here for a meal. Outstanding food. Outstanding service. Outstanding Value!

I just returned from holiday off a late flight - following day had nothing but yoghurt and fruit for breakfast. Ordered from here that night. A few hours later, I developed food poisoning and still have not recovered over 12 hours later. I did not order rice, but made my own, so the bacteria was present in either the chicken or pork ribs. I must say that I have previously ordered from here on two occasions, with no issues. However, the previous night’s order will be my last as there must be some serious disregard for food safety and handling in recent weeks. Salt level was also off the scale yesterday - Dead Sea levels of salt. Avoid. Save Food poisoning. P.S. I posted this review on Google reviews and the restaurant has tried to contact me to “resolve my issue”. While this is appreciated, I have been sick for two days due to unsafe food. To solve this issue, your kitchen needs a thorough investigation into its food safety practices - this is highly dangerous.

I don't often give poor reviews and it pains me to have to leave this one, but my food from here the other day was, at best, very disappointing. I ordered two dishes - Mapo Tofu & Pork and Chongqing Sauteed Chicken with Chilli and Peanut (plus rice). Both dishes were not cheap. The Mapo Tofu was like no Mapo Tofu I've had before (and I've tried many) and tasted of nothing but MSG - I don't mind some MSG but this made my mouth raw and I had to guzzle down water between each mouthful. The chicken was dry, chew, bony and tasted of old oil. Unfortunately 60% of the food ended up in the bin. Sorry Jin Jin, I had high hopes for you but this was a poor show. Maybe I caught them on a bad day but I won't return based off this experience.

I have eaten here regularly and the food is amazing. Loads of authentic dishes but also some unexpected gems including the chips (this is the only Chinese restaurant where I would contemplate ordering chips because they taste so good and they are flavoured with chile.

I eat jin jin many many times a week as a takeaway and was disappointed only once as the crispy shredded beef was a bit chewy. All other times it was all good tho.

Well only good things to say here. Food brilliant, portions brilliant, price unbelievable.. they have a "normal" Chinese type menu but then have a traditional Chinese menu as well, which can be a bit way out there if your not used to that sort of thing.. service was very friendly. We will definitely be going back...

Just popped in after a long day in the office. What can I say. Incredible, authentic, tasty, welcoming! One of the best Chinese meals I’ve had! Stick to their traditional food and you won’t go wrong!

We were pleasantly surprised about the food under new management. The hostess gave wonderful recommendations about the food, particularly the pork Hong Kong dumplings which were amazing.

We used to come to the Jin Jin before it closed down earlier this year. It’s now re opened under new management and is even better than before. The crispy duck is a triumph. Plenty of it and perfectly cooked. The main course was generous and again really tasty.

Como sugiere el título, hemos tenido una experiencia variable. Las primeras veces fueron fantásticas, estábamos tan emocionados de haber encontrado un buen chino. La última vez el camarero era bastante inexperto y recibió bastantes pedidos equivocados y eso hizo que marzo la experiencia y la comida parecieran serlo.

Drove to the very busy Cowley area for a good? takeway. Shown as open on the internet. It was locked and closed. No reply on the telephone number displayed in the window.

Collected a large takeaway from here on Saturday . Ordered via Just Eat . All food was ready at the agreed time and all was hot .

I would strongly recommend people avoid this restaurant as this behaviour as a complaint about poor soup resulted in disgusting behaviour from staff earlier this evening. My daughter complained about her soup order and was shouted at, thoroughly humiliated in public, and left in tears. She paid £20 for this experience. Shoddy treatment and ill-mannered, unprofessional service. I can only suggest much needed customer service training for its staff and apology to my daughter- though, she'll probably never set foot in Jin Jin again! Dreadful.

I have just come back from Jin jin's and I am incredibly upset. Me and a friend when to eat there, all was going well (apart from the fact that it took us ages to get served) until I received my main which was won-ton soup. I have grown up in a part Asian family and have had won-ton soup countless times, and this soup was inedible. The vegetables tasted old and the broth too, the wontons themselves were okay as they were not submerged into the broth. I quietly got the attention of our waitress to complain subtly, and waited for my dim sum. A man working there then came out and shouted at me that they have never had a complaint etc etc. We ended up having a huge argument in the restaurant and he continued to bother me and my friend after the feud was over with. I would also like to add that I never once mentioned that I would not pay or complain, and I only said I would write a bad review after I was shouted at. I paid and left

Title says it all! The food was nice and cheap, and it was very good! Went with a couple of friends for a quick dinner and a beer. It's also close to some good local bars so if you want to grab a quick dinner before a night out it's a good place for it!

I've been to Jin Jin three times now and have never been disappointed. It's such good value for your money, tasty food at a good price, I really recommend their szechuan chilli fish soup.

You are always greeted with a smile and a warm welcome at this small Chinese restaurant situated on the Cowley Road.There is an unbelievably large choice of dishes, possibly 200, for a restaurant with only about 10 tables.We were given free Prawn Crackers and a Sweet Chili Dip while we studied the menu, as it does need a while to look at all the choices.My partner and I shared a starter of Chili and Garlic Chicken Thighs. These were battered, and came off the bone, very tasty.For a main I chose Honey Coated Pork and Duck with Noodles. There was a choice of noodles, from which I chose Uddon. The meal was delicious, and a very generous sized portion.Excluding drinks, one starter and two mains cost under £20, excellent value.

What an Oxford gem!We are travelling through the UK and found Jin Jin on Trip Advisor. It was packed out on a cold Wednesday winter night.The food and service was exceptional and the menu offered plenty of variety and reasonable prices. We ordered four main courses and several side dishes, including spring rolls. We highly recommend the sizzling beef and chicken dishes with black pepper and vegetables. One of our children is very fussy and we asked if he would be allowed to order a Subway sandwich from next door. The lovely staff said that he could have the Subway but we felt a little embarrassed asking - and in the end, Master Fussy had what we had and loved it. If you have room for dessert, the choices are excellent. It was hard to go past the toffee apple - made to order with succulent baked apple pieces coated in drizzling toffee - only 3 pounds.I will look for Jin Jin again when I am next in Oxford.

We randomly tried this Chinese restaurant for an early evening meal, and am so glad that we did. The food and service were both excellent. The menu is enormous, almost too large to choose from, offering a wide range of dishes. All of our food was freshly prepared and tasty. 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 Chinese teas came to £27. Excellent value for money. My only critical comment is that the bathrooms could have been a little better, but other than that there are no complaints from me. Keep up the good work!

Jin Jin is now my preferred restaurant in East Oxford. It offers good Chinese food at a modest price, with fast friendly service.

A friendly place, the couple always welcome us with a lovely smile , as we are regulars now. I always try some fish and vegetables.

We went on a Wednesday evening and had drinks (including beer), a terrific cabbage and black fungus dish, glass noodles with diced pork and honey chilli king prawns for less and £30. The service was astonishingly fast and the food itself perfectly cooked and very flavoursome. This was our first time at Jin Jin, we'll be back!

Been there every week and we always have group dinning there. We tried the new coming dishes last Friday for a group dining of 20 ppl. It was a great time to take friends to enjoy the nice environment and the delicate dishes. The service was excellent.

I called in with my daughter one evening, the service was good and friendly and the food came very quickly, the menu was vast, which always makes me nervous as I wonder how any restaurant could have all the fresh ingredients for this large number of dishes. I chose lemon prawns with fried rice,it was ok but pretty bland and my daughters said the same about her dish too. We both had toffee bananas afterwards which were good, lovely and crunchy toffee and soft banana inside.The bill came to £29 for 2 mains with rice, 2 drinks and a dessert each which was really good, especially for Oxford. To sum up, ok for a quick weeknight supper but not for a special occasion.

Service was excellent. The food was nice. We had a prawn noodle broth, mapo tofu, pork dish and braised beef dish. The mapo tofu was a bit of a let down because I couldn't see any beef and the prawn broth was bland but the other dishes were great. Each dish was aroubd £7 I think. Food came quickly and was hot. We even got complimentary prawn crackers and chilli sauce.

Been there twice so far and just getting ready to order a delivery. First time I visited I had a prawn curry with rice which was good but I wasn't amazed. Second time however I dared to try something new and it was Mongolian lamb brisket rice and it was top notch! Can't wait to have it again! You cannot make a mistake by visiting Jin Jin, there is so much choice, there must be something for everyone :)

This is a small restaurant that is unpretentious but pleasant . It takes only cash . The food is very good, the best Chinese I have had in Oxford. My wife and I each had a different kind of noodle and each dish was excellent, and with more food than my wife could eat. They also have dlim sum but we didn't try that this visit, but expect to do on our next visit.

Actually it's best place in Oxford and I've been to plenty.I went to this place several times now. So far there has been only good food after good food. Well prepared and well presented on the plate.There was so far one single mistake, one of the dishes was too salty, but that's it. There is much better consistency in quality of the food compared to other places. They got a gigantic menu, with tons of variety. I have yet to try all of those dishes, luckily I already knew some of those so i can try out those unfamiliar ones.Regardless what you order, it's good quality and generally better than any other restaurant in oxford. Honestly, some of the fine dining restaurants in oxford offer lower quality at a higher price.Definitely recommend it. It's my favorite place in Oxford at least.

Today, I and my friends visited JinJin again, cause the foods can always remind me my hometown.Firstly, they usually give us free prawn cracker, that is my favourate, and we ordered some drinks, I choose the orange juice, which is really sweat and fresh, as we can see the juice was freshly squeezed from the machine. After that we start to order, basically, we ordered the Szechuan boiled fish, special chicken pot, and Chinese leaf with some steam rice, the Szechuan boiled fish is my favorite, it's not that spicy and the fish fillets were very soft and smooth. I just cannot stop to eat more;). The chicken pot was amazing, their was fire under the wok, it is exactly the same style of wok in China, and their is no doubt that this one is also very tasty. After all the meal, we all feel very happy, both for the food and service, overall, we paid about 30£ for the food, really worth for the foods:).

It's our first time to this restaurant, me and my friend didn't know what to eat,cause they've gotten wider range of food, we really don not know which one to choose, so we asked the waiters and the waiter gave us excellent recommendation and explain patiently and friendly about the food, and the food was very yummy, especially the pork hock, which was very fresh and delicious, we also had some egg fried rice, with the special fish fillet. i think i will be back again to enjoy the meal.

We wandered in to Jin Jin without a reservation on a very cold Friday evening in February 2016 - the restaurant was buzzing and we were lucky to get a table. We had the most fantastic meal, my husband and I were completely blown away by the atmosphere, great service and wonderful flavours of all the dishes we had on our set meal. We don't live locally but vowed to go back the next time we were in the area.So, without hesitating, when we were taking friends to dinner this Thursday, we booked a table and arrived with great expectation of another delicious meal. Sadly an entirely different experience. Our main course was delivered before the starters, when we questioned this they were whipped away and replaced with our duck starters which were served cold. We asked our waiter to ensure our main course was hot - unfortunately not (probably left on the hot plate while we ate our starters) - however the flavours were lovely. It all just felt a little rushed after a long day (they are open all day) and whilst we were asked if everything was ok with our meal we didn't feel there was much point in talking about it : after the mix up with starters, then having them served cold, we hoped they would pay more attention to our order to ensure that nothing else went wrong. Really disappointed.So - will we go back? Probably not with so many wonderful places to choose from in the area. But because of our first visit and other excellent reviews we hope that our experience was just bad luck.

We live very locally to Jin Jin and have been visiting since we moved here. We absolutely love it. We have had delicious food every visit and the lovely lady even remembers our order even though we have tried a lot of the dishes- she seems to know what we want better than we do! The portions are generous with plenty of meat and fresh veggies. We always get ours to takeaway but are planning on eating in soon and trying some of the big bowls which always look delicious when we go in. Can't wait for our next visit.

Visited last night with my wife and a friend. It was great to see a large number of oriental customers clearly appreciating the establishment . The menu choice was vast and it took a while to choose . The food arrived quickly and the service was great . It also seemed cheap ...recommend the glass noodle with minced pork and the Taiwan pork rice dish

Me and my boyfriend had a pre gig meal here at the weekend and we were very impressed with the quality of food. I really struggle to find a good Chinese restaurant or takeaway but this was so good. We had the dim sum special to start which was so tasty and the set menu A for two which was plenty for us. Crispy duck pancakes were delicious, sweet and sour chicken, beef in black bean (so tender), vegetable dish and egg fried rice. All yummy and was a bargain at £22 each with two beers.
