Jikoni in City of London, Westminster

We went here after a long day and night cricket match. Advance reservation is almost mandatory. We were treated to great three course meal. All authentic “beyond boundaries” in true sense. I have never seen such a varied menu in small establishment. Starter to coffee and desert attention to fine detail is impeccable. Drinks are slightly on expensive - a can of 0% ALE was £7-50 plus 13% service charge Other than that no complaints as the ambience and food were exceptional. The staff explained unfamiliar dishes very well to all three of us with different tastes and different backgrounds.

Decor/atmosphere is great, however the food is not worth the price. Unfortunately, the picture is deceiving as there was not really rice under the chicken leg- I'd say approx 4 tablespoons of cooked rice there. The same goes with the veg- there is nothing under the egg. The chicken was cold in the middle as well and generally quite bland. We shared the Chickpea Panisse first which was great! Service was nice and attentive. I think you should be willing to spend quite a bit on starters, and other courses as the mains will not fill you up.

My friends and I had a lovely lunch out at Jikoni. The food was delicious and the service was friendly. The cocktails weren’t great but the house wine was lovely. The restaurant itself had a great atmosphere and looked really pretty. It’s an expensive place to eat but you expect that because of its location and I would still recommend.

Quirky decor in a Marylebone back street. Fascinating menu - Superb ingredients conjured into a fusion of flavours and cuisines. Banana ketchup - a triumph. Ovaltine ice-cream - yes it's a thing. And the service was superb. Downside? It's pricey. But then it's so different it's worth it for a special occasion. Thank you Jikoni, you made our special day.

Jinkoni is one of the best restaurants in the neighborhood. We live here and go often especially when friends are in town.Interesting dishes, delicious flavors and fresh ingredients with staff who are genuinely invested in making sure you have a good time. The food is excellent and I guarantee you'll see something you've never tried before. Heritage cuisine mixes the Indian and African heritage of the chef/owner to create something really special.

Lovely for a date. Ask for the seat in the corner with the pillows - you won’t be sitting opposite each other but you sit against lovely pillows and can look out. Again, food is particularly good, very interesting fusion, and the banana cake (essentially a sticky toffee pudding) is unmissable, one of the best desserts I’ve ever had: as another reviewer said, worth coming just for the cake.

Had dinner at Jikoni. Smooth atmosphere and staff, emphasis is on vegetarian and vegan but they also serve meat dishes such as lamb shoulder (very tasty). Eclectic interior, a bit busy on the eyes. Downside: poor acoustics, especially when there is a noisy group.

We had a superb vegetarian lunch at Jikoni. Friendly service, great recommendations - the aubergine with sticky rice was to die for! I also had the banana cake with miso butterscotch and it was very good. If I came again I would go for a starter instead of a dessert though as I really like the starter my sister had (can't remember what it was!)_. Everything was delicious and of a really high standard. This was my second visit and I will definitely be back. One of my favourite restaurants. Calm ambience, relaxed but beautiful vibes, incredible food!

Food was not authentic, rather eat at Dishoom which has much better food and atmosphere. The decor was old, staff were okay didn't blame them. Some of the food was cold.

I was here twice in the past week. Once was with a group of friends, and the second time was with my cousin and her partner - as soon as I finished my first time I knew I wanted to return so made a booking. The flavors here are bold and delicious, and that's what really makes it. I shared most of the starters with my friends and family over the two visits, and the peach appetizer really stood out. For mains, I had the fried eggplant which was fabulous. Simply fabuiluos with great spicy bold flavors.. The second time I had the chicken. Service friendly and solicitous, with a nice drink and wine list. I'd recommend this place if you like spicy, south Asian flavors.

We were seated on a very small table which was very dark, in a draughty area near the stairs and close to the bar fridge. But we’re reseated after the first course on request. The food was disappointing, quail with water melon and feta was dry and the Kuku chicken curry had small pieces of back bone in and a lot of chicken skin too. Nice saffron rice but also could have done with more sauce. Would not go again.

I had been meaning to visit Jikoni for a long time having walked past it many times and I’m glad I did. It quickly become one of my favourite places to eat. The restaurant itself is decorated beautifully with a lovely atmosphere, we was greeted so warmly. After asking our waiter for suggestions on what to eat, we decided to go for a number of small plates to share. They were phenomenal, especially the scotch egg. The staff were attentive and polite, I asked for a drink not on the menu, which is a little bit cheeky of my but they couldn’t have been happier to accommodate me. To finish we had the banana cake and ovaltine kulfi which was absolutely amazing. I will be back for sure.

Absolutely delicious food, lovely homely feel, staff are wonderful and really attentive. Such a fantastic hidden gem with great options for everyone. Really fancy but not at all stingy on the portions and the chickpea chips are divine!!!

I booked a table weeks ago, but when our party arrived we were seated in a table behind the bar next to the stairs, a pile of tablecloths and other items and with a view of a badly hidden pantry. We asked for another table, but there was none available and no effort was made to find a solution. I left and will not be back again. I was very surprised they even had a table there and that customers with a booking were assigned to that table.

An absolutely fantastic evening here. Delicious food, out of this world service. Can’t wait to come back. Special shout out to Neil our waiter who truly made our evening at Jikoni stand out from other restaurants we’ve been to.

Having heard wonderful things about teh restaurant we booked for lunch It was vegetraian menu which caught us by surprise The menu looked interesting though the East African specialisms seemed to be missing. many items are run of the mill in Mediterranean and fusion restuarants We started with cocktails - which were good A dish of pickled vegetables was acidy and uninterseting The chickpea chips are now a pub regular only saved from boringness with a nice dip The beetroot handvo was dense and underspiced. The soy keema bun was OK The main courses were better - the crispy aubergine Sichuan caramel was really enjoyable. The butternut squash moilee was good The accompanying green bean and cashewnut thoran was overpowered by lemon juice We asked for beers which were not on the menu and we have no idea what brand we were served as the beer was served up pre-paured For pudding we had banana cake with a little pot of Ovaltine kulfi, bringing about memories of childhood pre-bedtime drinks. We alos had a pineapple and limeleaf cake which was OK Overall the food was not that impressive. Not sure I would return

I have the cookbook which is excellent. So I was interested in visiting. I avoided January as it was a vegetarian month. So I eventually got there in March. Had a lunch which to my surprise was vegetarian. That’s all well and good. I should have checked. The lunch menu is £28 which I think is quite substantial, unlike the meal. Beetroot marinated in soy on whipped feta as a starter. This was nice. The main was basically a small pot of feta and greens with Kataifi pastry. It was in my opinion another starter. And the kataifi was very dry. Not a great experience and wish I had gone in the evening for the proper menu. Probably won’t rush back as there is a lot of variety in london. The staff were great though.
