Jerk n' Tingz in Dover

We have been wanting to come here for a while. Left feeling underwhelmed after reading great reviews. The jerk chicken wrap was lovely. Curried goat had nice flavour but wasn’t really a curry, looked like it had been under the heat lamp for a while. Mac n cheese was just pasta and sauce. Lovely rum.

Best Caribbean food I've had since being out there.

Our absolute favourite place for amazing food, chilled atmosphere and a decent cocktail.

Visited the restaurant in September with the family and couldn’t be more impressed by the whole experience. The wait staff were on the ball and attentive, the atmosphere was great with some amazing custom artwork on the walls, and the food… every dish was impeccable. Definitely recommend the curried goat and dutty fries! Can’t wait to go back on the next visit to Dover.

Me and my family tried the Sunday Roast dinner and it was lovely. Portion sizes were generous and the flavours were delicious and not too spicy for those who can’t handle heat. We had the jerk chicken and the roasted lamb with all the trimmings. Dj MrMo played Motown music in the background whilst we ate. Definitely recommend!

Food was to die for! I had curried goat and my partner had jerk chicken. We picked our sides and we decided to have fries;which were perfectly seasoned, rice that was spicy, but not ferociously hot and mac and cheese - the best mac and cheese I've ever had. I'd never tried goat before and it was delicious; tender and melt in the mouth, and the curry sauce was full of flavour, mildly spiced and just so damn good. We will definitely be returning - sooner rather than later. The rum punch was the perfect accompaniment 😋 Restaurant is clean and staff are friendly. Decor is stunning and I would definitely recommend eating here.

Most disappointing meal we have had in a long time , we love jerk chicken and at first found this place nice they always seem to miss something out tho, we order from here quite a lot and give them the benefit of the doubt when they have messed up every other time but today just wasn’t good enough we asked for the jerk chicken very well done to our surprise when we opened it it was nothing but a puddle of grease and hardly done chicken , the jerk chicken wrap was so greasy it was wet and dripping also asked for no onion and it was piled in there , tasted as if chips were microwaved as well … we won’t be using this place again

Unfortunately we had to leave as the by far slowest waiter in Dover needed about 5 minutes to clean a single table, never brought the menus and even after organizing this myself never showed up for order. What a waste of time!

I don’t normally complain but, I was disappointed with my experience today. I had goat curry but all I could taste was salt and the rice was greasy. Front of house was doing his best but he needs more training in customer service. It appeared to me that there was more emphasis on ‘ just eat deliveries’The waiting time was long and I nearly walked out but I was so hungry and looking forward to my meal. I wish I had walked out

We both had the jerk burger. Taste wise was good but barely any pulled chicken in it. They run out of ginger beer amd their signature blueberry BBQ sauce which I find hard to excuse since it's a Jamaican street food joint. The atmosphere was ok with Jamaican beats.

Excellent food. Decent service. This will definitely become a regular visit. Also excited to find out more about GymTingz!

Real disappointment, been here three times. First time great, lovely food. Second time no chicken available! Most recent visit not even open despite it being during their hours of business. Not sure if I'll be back.

I got the beef brisket and my husband got the jerk chicken as a lunch combo for £15 including a canned drink. I mean… unbelievably tasty 😋 The brisket was so tender and full of flavour! Highly recommend!

We had a pick up delivery the portions are on a small side we had goat curry rice and plantain ! I feel like it needed more flavour and also no patties even though it's still on their website

This was the first time we've visited Jerk. It was early evening, so atmosphere was quiet. The aroma of the place had a lovely camp fire type smell, with Caribbean music giving this a real authentic feel to the restaurant. Food prices are fair (around £10-15) and drinks equally so. The Jerk chicken burger was amazing, with soft chicken and a home made hash brown - not like your traditional hash brown, but very tasty. Chicken Jerk salad was well presented and very tasty too - a good portion. Service was extremely good. Overall, this was an excellent place to visit, and worthwhile; I'd certainly visit again.

Before I get on with my review I just want to applaud the business owners who started this business from nothing but a love of their culture and culinary skills. I can't imagine how hard it must have been to create a wonderful experience for when people choose to dine here. However, my experience here was somewhat mediocre if I were to judge it off of just the food I consumed. We shall start with the starters, I ordered the ackoo saltfish courses (both of them), starter 1 resembling that of a curry pot noodle but unfortunately was less than desirable in flavour and starter number 2 which not only looked like it had been fished from a pond but also tasted as such, such a shame! For the mains I ordered the lobster bisque which sadly wasn't an option on the day I visited so I ended up with the bbq chicken and seasoned fries. The chicken breasts were both small and thin, but still remained moist which was a pleasant surprise! But the sauce that was just thrown on top was the bigger let down due to its lack of taste, it resembled nothing of a bbq sauce and in all honesty I probably could have brought a sauce from Tesco which would have packed more punch. The chips were just plain with a heavy dusting of seasoning which tasted remarkably like the chip seasoning you could buy in your local supermarket. I ordered all the dips because I felt adventurous, the mayo was actually pretty good and received raves of compliments from everyone I dined with on this occasion however I found the guacamole to be too heavy on the avocado and the jerk sauce was more runny than that of my kitchen tap when it drips. Again disappointed. I sampled the cocktails also and found my second in particular to taste like disinfectant, again thoroughly saddened because I really wanted to enjoy what I had ordered. I never ordered desserts because the dishes I had already received hadn't delivered in taste or appearance. However the staff are next to none in their attentiveness and efficiency, this business should be proud of who they have working front of house because it made everything seem a bit better when you're being cared for in your dining experience. Finally the atmosphere and interior design of this establishment was breathtaking, I never would have expected it to be but once we were inside and seated we did nothing but stare at the careful choice of lighting and decoration. It was certainly unique and enjoyable to sit in. If the food were to be better then I would happily go back and write a better review, just for now though I'm not converted to Caribbean food and would rather visit elsewhere. Thank you for a lovely time though from all the staff and your trade still seems to be booming which I'm happy for you 😊

Came here with my sister on the 27th April for the curried goat, plantain and rice. Every bit of the meal was delicious and will definitely go back to try more items, plus try some of the really impressive list of rums on offer! Service was lovely and liked the decor too....... Well done gals!

We booked this place based on the great reviews on a Friday night. As soon as we arrived(7pm) we were told they had run out of jerk chicken and beef brisket which was about 70% of the menu. Not impressed to be honest. The food we did have was decent hence the 1 star. But I went to a Caribbean wanting jerk chicken. Maybe it's better in the summer but unfortunately it's a no from me.

Ate hear the night before a short trip to france in January and back to france in March so will be eating hear again. Food was fantastic but ate to many dumplings. Give this place a go , all good very good.

I visited with lady from Jamaica who definately approved of and enjoyed the authentic Caribbean menue. The actual restaurant was bit basic tho but don't let that put you off. Worth it for the food

Couldn't book a table at short notice, however, they accommodated us with an hour slot and it was plenty enough time! The food was absolutely outstanding and the service was amazing. I wish they had a restaurant in Portsmouth! 10/10.

Been coming to Jerk N Tingz since they first opened at the old restaurant!!! I still eat here regularly!! We also eat here at lunch time when we’re at work!!! Can’t get enough of this food!!! The food is the best Jamaican food Iv ever tasted!! Even when we was in the Caribbean on holiday, the food didn’t even touch what they can cook at Jerk N Tingz!! My favourite restaurant!!! 10/10 for service, food, presentation, hygiene and decor!!! I cant recommend this restaurant enough!!! Best one around hands down!! My recommendation is the pork belly! Wowsers!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Absolutely stunning food. I was made to feel so welcome. I'm sitting here now writing this as I feel it warrants an outstanding review as I eat. I will definitely be back. So many flavours in the chicken and the pork belly. Absolutely loved it. The two ladies behind the bar were so welcoming and as I was in my own they both spoke to me and made sure I was doing OK. Great atmosphere and they had some great music playing. Both doorman great chatty and professional. Will definitely be back very soon.

Aaaah, both a sigh of satisfaction and a gentle mew of pain as the spice on my jerk chicken finds its way to a previously undiscovered winter split in my lip. 10/10 would toast my taste buds again. Met Michael when I collected my food. Passionate and pleasant. Tips: one dumpling per person, they are magnificent. Rice and peas was spot on for me. Can't wait for an opportunity to eat in. No photos as I have never, and will not in the future take pictures of something I wish to stuff in my face. Make of that comment what you will...

Super legit Jamaican! Flavors in every dish. Everything was cooked so well! Jerk chicken was juicy, spicy and amazing. The peppered beef brisket was outstanding. It came with a sauce that was to die for. We got Mac and Cheese, Rice & beans and fried (green) plantains as our sides. This was a lot of food but it was all so good, so well prepared and came out quickly. The mains had some spice for sure. I think most of it was the rub on the jerk chicken. But it was nothing a bit of water couldn't handle. We want to come back every time we are in or near Dover. Love love loved this place. Everyone else at other tables were also buzzing about their food.

Good variety of meals available, I had beef brisket with rice and peas, I've never had brisket from a carribean restaurant and was delighted with the melt in the mouth texture

I had heard good things about this take away so for a treat ordered food tonight. Firstly we had a delivery that was not our order, contacted them to explain we had correct receipt but wrong order the lady said she would need to speak to management. Two calls later we were informed that our food was on the way and seconds later a knock at the door. two bags were handed over again one not ours so handed two orders back but such a let down as food was cold and tasteless so bad experience

Absolutely outstanding dining experience. The atmosphere of the restaurant was incredible and the staff were friendly and kind. The food was perfect- the BBQ Jackfruit with rice and peas and Coleslaw was one of the bet meals i've had in a while!! Decor was unique and brilliant. Highly recommend this lovely and authentic establishment! one of the best dining experiences Dover has to offer!

Five star in taste of food as I had a takeaway, portion wise for the curried goat was very small and expensive as I've paid half the price in London and had a fuller takeaway tub. Other than that on the same scale as Jamaica jerk chicken wise.

Food is outstanding, service and support was very poor and they tried to over charge us by not taking our £10 per person deposit off the final bill. And after last weeks no notice closure against our booking, was even more evidence to poor support to great food.

Excellent restaurant. Just been for lunch with an old friend I haven't seen since lockdown. Was perfect place for catch up. Friendly, happy staff and the food was amazing too. We both had the burger which had jerk seasoning, cheese & beef brisket on top in a brioche bun. Served with a side of fries. Was best food I've had in a long time. Will definitely be back.

Ate here with my wife for our anniversary and we were more than happy with the food,service and ambience. We shared jerk pork belly, bbq chicken, fries, coleslaw, rice and some plantain. The food was amazing, the pork and chicken had no fat and just fell apart in your mouth. We had red stripe beer and ginger beer for our drinks and they were also very refreshing. The owners were great and very welcoming. I honestly can't fault this place. The bill came to under £35 which for the quality of the food is nothing short of amazing. You would pay more at a pub chain for re-heated microwave food. If you are looking for a place to eat out in Dover then look no further.

Visited jerk n' Tingz a while a go and realised I realised I had to come back and leave a review, as it truly deserved its praise. Food = excellent (even the salad! and I'm not one to praise(/eat) salads... it was that good). Had the curry goat = excellent. Decor = excellent. Owner = welcoming. This was a random trip I had to visit Dover, and Jerk n' Tingz was the highlight of my time there. A gem of a restaurant. Definitely worth the stop.
