Undercooked fish . Won’t go back . Got refund but was very disappointed

My wife collected 2 fish and a portion of chips with a portion of peas and a portion of gravy. This establishment boasts an average of 4.4 for its reviews over 92 people. How? I’ve enclosed some pictures so you can make your own mind up. We have made ours up and we will NEVER visit again.

What’s has gone wrong😡😡 We have been using this establishment for about six months after the closure of our usual Fish and Chip shop. Placed our order today on Just eat it arrived and on inspection very disappointed. My wife’s fish looked like it had just been thrown from a great height into the box with what could only be described as yesterday’s chips. I ordered battered sausage and a battered spam fritter, the sausage came with no batter and as for the spam fritter well a forensic team would have had difficulty finding the batter and again what could only be described as yesterday’s chip re-heated. We were that disappointed I drove back and we returned the whole meal back to the shop, the gentleman was very apologetic and re-cooked our order. Unfortunately even the second attempt was appalling fish was watery with no flavour,spam fritter was inedible, and again re-heated chips. In fact the lot went in the bin in todays climate people cannot afford what you could now describe as a luxury and end up out of pocket and hungry. Will not be going again which is unfortunate as it is very local.

Been going since it reopend. we got fish bits and chips I'm sorry but the chips were refried and solid in the middle the fish bits had no fish all soggy batter the shop looks like they need a cleaner quickly very grubby won't be going again

Chips was burned fish to salty

Probably the worst fish and chips I’ve had in a long time… the fish was very soggy and it was far too expensive for what it is. The staff were very friendly, but a big shame about the food :/

A bit hit and miss, have had some great meals from here and others not so great. Seems to be dependent on who’s frying. Like someone else has mentioned, this recent visit the chips weren’t freshly made and the lightly battered fish was greasy. Staff have always been polite and friendly.

Top notch fish n chips. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Called in at lunchtime today was welcomed by a old face wow the fish&chips was amazing cooked to profection definitely will be back again now I know Liam is in charge of the fryer this guy definitely knows is job 100% top quality food thanks again Gc

Shocking. The chips were not fresh, they were scragg ends and tasted like they’d been hanging around. The battered sausage was slightly burnt. I’m disappointed as the previous visit was good 🤷‍♂️

Ordered a portion chips and when getting home was a little disappointed with the portion size. They do however taste lovely but would definitely benefit from adding another scoop of chips.

Called in to get fish and chips today, noticed that it was under new management, so was interested to see if it had changed much. It has,the fish was outstanding, cooked to order,perfectly, the batter was crisp and not greasy. The chips were nicely cooked. Up there easily with the best fish and chips I've had in quite a while. The 2 guys cooking and serving were both very friendly and pleasant. The place was very clean and tidy. I would definitely recommend and will visit whenever we are in or near Harrogate.

Chips were horrendous all bits and clearly kept warm. Fish was beautiful and service friendly

Sausage, chips n curry sauce. It was bang on. The chips are cooked to perfection amd i don't have that waxy/greasy mouth you normally get after eating chippy chip. 10/10

Bought 4 fish and 3 chips, 2 cartons of curry sauce and we still didn't eat all of it. The fish were of a good size and we're cooked to order, beautiful. The gentleman even packed everything up and bought it out to me, that's customer friendly.

Living locally we thought we would try the fish and chips as we had not been for over a year as the previous owners had no idea of how fish and chips should be. However this time we enjoyed our haddock, chips and battered sausage. The staff were very friendly, we were served quickly and the prices were very reasonable.

Called in for lunch whilst working in the area. Easy parking, friendly & helpful staff, and some of the most delicious chips in decent sized portions I have ever come across. Will go out of my way to return.

I haven't had fish and chips for over 15 months having been on a very strict diet.... decided to have a treat and wasn't disappointed at all!! I have always avoided this chip shop as it wasn't up to much before but now its changed hands its great!small fish and chips were just enough and were cooked to order. Amazing price £3.95!!even a large portion is only a £1.00 extra!Lovely food, fish is of great quality and the chips great.really recommend this place for fish and chips without hesitation !was well worth having!! will indulge again but won't be waiting as long this time!!

Been a local to this fish shop I decided to try it out again after a number of years! Was delighted by the food, the chips were lovely and light and not too greasy and the spam fritter and fish cake were very tasty ,Would use again ,Shame they not open on a Monday lunch time !Would recommend!

Spot on, used to thinkbit was pricey for the portions but last time we went we recieved a decent amount of chips either that or they were getting rid of them either way they were still bloody nice

Today gave this chip shop a second chance after a previous bad experience .....no more . The batter on the fish was thick ,hard and greasy .yuk! Chips not much better , lots of 'endy' bits . and Luke warm . Will not give them a third go !

Was in area as plant watering for a friend so thought would treat us to a fish n chip supper. Absolutely dreadful!!! The batter was soaked in dirty oil I had to mop it with kitchen roll before plating up. The fish inside was of a very poor quality and didn't taste of anything but had a very weird texture as well. The chips were sparse but as they were cold that was probably a blessing. Total waste of money. They need to clean out their oil it was dark and dirty. Completely disgusting.

First time for fish and chips, requested a light battered fish, really lovely as were the chips. Will certainly be back, very impressed with cleanliness and fish cooked fresh.

We get fish and chips from here from time to time. Staff are always cheerful and efficient but best of all the pieces of fish are always chunky and delicious. A good, reliable fish and chip outlet.

Had to bin meal bought today ...had piece of fish ..my wife a fishcake. the batter was terrible on both items . Fish was OK but binned the rest . Will have to desperate to return

Just recently moved to Harrogate so we tried this shop ..i think everything was frozen then fried not great . I'm from Leeds where we we know how to cook fresh fish and chips !

Have used this takeaway fish & chip shop several times and I would certainly recommend it to others. Nicely cooked fish, chips and associated additions and presented well. Fast and friendly service.

It's been a while since I have been into this chippy as the last time I did, uhhhhhhhhh, let's just say there were much better chippy's and more pleasant owners around!

Great little takeaway fish and chips shop! Fish was fresh and flaky with a crispy batter. Chips were fried just right, with those yummy little crunchy small ones and big, fluffy large ones. Mushy peas were a nice bright green and tasted fresh and well seasoned. You get great value for the money, too, as the portions are generous. It's truly inexpensive for the high quality of the food. Restaurant was clean, staff was friendly and service was quick. We will definitely return!

We have used Jennyfield Fisheries a couple of times recently and the fish & chips are excellent. The fish is freshly fried and the chips are crispy.

Crisp tasty battered haddock and a fair sized portion of chips. The pies are well filled with nice crusty pastry. I'll be going back there when I next visit Harrogate.

visit this fish & chip takeaway on a regular basis. fish always fresh & succulent with lovely batter, chips nice and crisp. can't fault it. highly recommended, you must give it a try.

I have used this fish and chip shop many times but will not be going back,bought some fish and chips this week the fish was all soggy and the chips were hard and over cooked,must have been the night be fores and all afternoon i felt ill.

We have a weekly meal of fish and chips and have been buying them here for a couple of years now. The fish is always freshly cooked and the chips crisp. We have a 10 minute journey home before eating them but they remain hot and crisp. The staff are always friendly and welcoming too. Certainly to be recommended.

Been to this fish and chips several times recently and it's always being consistently delicious. The chips are my highlight of the visits as they must be the best I've personally had at a fish and chip shop. The shop always has very friendly staff who chat away to you. I also enjoyed the fish, the last one I ordered came at a relatively big size with really tasty golden batter.

I have tried and tried to find a good chippy in Harrogate. I went to this one as I was passing and what a surprise. It has new owners (18 months) and the chips were fantastic. Went back the next day and had superb fish and chips. Went back a week later and had superb fish and chips. Not much more to say, other than the family owners are lovely and immediately recognised me and my wife. We will return to this place on a regular basis.

Visted friends who suggested f&c; for lunch. We used the local chippy . The best fish and chips we have had in years. Lovely people served us and the quality of the food. Wow.. Outstanding ... I wished we had one like this where we live... Keep it simple , keep it right ... Can't wait to visit our friends again .. Soon...

Visiting Harrogate for the weekend and found this place through Google, but would highly recommend. Excellent service and fantastic taste we all enjoyed our fish and chips.
