Arrived at 4.15 pm on Wednesday 8th November for a coffee and cake. Before we could enter, the owner told us he was closing due to low numbers. We said "we are here"and he then announced the coffee machine had been shut off and was being cleaned. Finally he said come back another day. This business is advertised to stay open until 6pm. A very poor show and the owner's attitude to regular customers, which we are, left much to be desired

This is the best cafe in Glasgow to go to. From savoury to sweet, there is a lot to choose from. The staff are very welcoming and always in a good mood. Come here if you are in Glasgow. Top tip, try the chocolate waffles.

We just go for latte and a T.. don’t even bother with food … make it shine as it used to be such a fun place to drink eat and meet. Now it’s so sad 🥲

We have been visiting this cafe for 9 years since moving to Glasgow . We keep returning because it has a lovely vibe and staff are friendly and welcoming . Sadly our last visit (hopefully a one off ) with family was very disappointing . The outside seating area was empty so we moved one chair to make a table for four . Your waiter came out and without saying hi or welcoming us told us off for moving the furniture . His explanation was that you are redesigning your outside space which made no sense at all . We were made to feel like naughty children which did not make for a pleasant visit . This is so disappointing after being such loyal customers.I do wish to point out that every other visit has been a good experience . Staff training required perhaps .

I was looking for somewhere to have a coffee with my friend and I had my baby with my in the pram, my baby was desperately due a feed and there wasn’t much else in the area so I thought I’d give this cafe a go. As soon as I came in the door with my pram the man gave a look of disgust, almost like “you can’t bring that baby in here!” Now I do understand it is a small shop, but I have been in smaller cafes with my baby and the owners have been more than accommodating especially as my baby needs fed. I felt unwelcome, so I turned around and headed for the nearest Starbucks, were I could enjoy a coffee and feed my baby without judgement. Sorry if my baby killed the “vibes” off your coffee shop, but I’d much rather be in the company of 100 babies than ever be in an environment like this again. God bless Starbucks!

Just went in for a simple, light lunch, so opted for the soup and bread. Not disappointed! Very large plate of the most amazing spicy tomato soup - should’ve asked for the recipe. And the bread was warmed and fresh. When cafe bars do the simple things SO well, you want to keep going back. And lovely staff.

Arrived to have a couple of drinks on Friday evening at 6:30. There were serveral free tables outside. We went and asked for a table and we told that the second member of staff was taking a break and they weren’t allowing any new customers for 15 mins. Really weird approach - instead of saying it’s just me - do you want to take a seat and I’ll be over in 10 we were turned away… the manner of this was odd - not apologetic and seemed frustrated by new custom if anything. This is now the 3rd time I’ve had a bad service experience in this place - from reading other reviews I’m amazed no one from Jellyhill hasn’t read any of these and is doing something about it? I appreciate times are hard but just up the road there are delightful people more then happy to seat you with a glass of wine and take your money!

Booked a table online for 2pm. When we arrived we were told there was a 20-30 minutes wait for food. We thought it was strange to have to wait that long for food since the cafe was half empty, but we thought we could wait since it was very windy and chilly outside so we said we would take the table bit the waitress reminded us that there was over 40 minutes wait for food so I reminded she said 20 minutes before but she insisted she had said 40 minutes. It felt like she was trying to get rid of us. Reading the reviews left by other people online now, I'm just glad we left. We found a lovely welcoming coffee shop nearby. Definitely will not going back.

Had lunch here with my daughter and a friend. Cafe was not very busy at the time (Thurs lunchtime). Service was very friendly and efficient, contrary to the impression you might get from some of the recent reviews! The food was lovely - sourdough bread toasties with a small side salad, chicken caesar salad, side of cajun fries and some lovely coffees. Carafe of water provided without having to ask for is. Very reasonably priced. We would happily return. Dog-friendly, too, with some outdoor seating for the better weather.

I visited this cafe on 26.1.20 around 2pm with one other adult and my baby. As soon as we walked in the waiter told us there were no tables with no offer for us to wait, only a moment later for a table to become free right in front of us. I thought this strange considering the waiter surely had served this table their bill and therefore must have known the table was about to become free, but instead was willing to send us away? Once at our table, we ordered coffee and food, having to choose alternative options due to things not being available on the menu.50 minutes later we were still waiting for our food when it finally arrived. This wait was very poor and quite surprising. Even if the kitchen had become busy, your cafe is not especially big and we ordered a sandwich and waffles which surely do not merit a wait of 50 minutes? It is not acceptable. No apology for the time we had to wait was offered by any of the staff. The sandwich ordered was chorizo, cheddar and caramelised onion. The sandwich had 3 small pieces of chorizo in the whole sandwich, a small sprinkle of cheese and 2 pieces of onion. The sandwich was barely filled and was mainly just bread, which was extremely disappointing.  We raised this with the same waiter serving us and explained we were not happy with this.  He just said 'ok' and took it away. We were not charged for it however there was no apology, considering we had waited 50 minutes for our food, and then received a very poor serving of food, it is quite unbelievable.I am extremely disappointed with the service received today, not just with the poor quality of the meal but also with the inadequate level of service that your staff offer. Even when we were leaving, another one of your waiters brought back our change, and did not even look in our direction or say goodbye. This unfriendly attitude does not exactly make customers feel welcome.

We went for soup. Very disappointing - not very hot, incredibly thick. But more worrying is hygiene standard. We watched waitress patting a dog, feeding it a treat directly into its mouth, and then NOT wash her hands. Not good.

Wine list is greatly improved from our previous visit and there was a new menu in place too. We had the meat platter and a little too much prosecco . Waiting staff were lovely and looked after us all evening. We will be back!!

I spent an evening in Jelly Hill on the 4th with friends and we all had an excellent night! The staff were friendly and welcoming and although our party was fairly large we were accommodated without a fuss! The drinks list is great and the staff were brilliant, serving us quickly and making sure we had everything we needed. The cocktail list has been revamped too and the barman who made them did a brilliant job! We all shared a wonderful charcuterie board also, which was beautifully presented! All in all, a great night had by all! We will be back!

I really like it here, and have been in since management changed. I think it's a really cool cafe and would love to see it do well, so with that in mind there are a few things that could be a little better. The cafe - particularly near the door - can be a little cold. I bring an extra couple of layers if coming here. The front door doesn't close properly by itself which during winter can let a draft in. I wonder if fixing the door +/- some extra heat would fix this. And I think the food seems better under new management, but I'd have to agree with some of the reviewers about value of some items. I tried the bruschetta which was essentially one slice of bread with a spread of pesto and some tomatoes and onions and it was over £5. The salad leaves it was served with weren't very nice. I would have expected perhaps another piece of bread for that price. And I miss the complimentary jelly beans. Was always a plus of this place. Otherwise, I think the place looks good and the coffee is definitely better than before. The other alcoholic drinks are a good option but I can't see the cocktail menu taking off. Hopefully the place will continue to improve as it's a lovely cafe.

Much friendlier and welcoming under the new management. However, very over-priced. The former management used to do an early special: coffee and croissant or scone for approx £3.75. This now costs £5.35. Coffee fine, but on one occasion it was lukewarm and had to be sent back, not acceptable at that price. Croissants are large but clearly not fresh. Again, not acceptable at that price. I have given up on this cafe, now go to the place a couple of doors down where a latte and fresh croissant costs £4.20.

Heard this place had been taken over so I thought I'd nip in for a soup and a sandwich. Last time I visited the place need a good clean and some maintenance - this has been done by the new owners and the place is spotless and more organised.Ordered from the takeaway menu- veg soup and a tuna sandwich. Both tasted good but the sandwich was just wrapped in a serviette and put in a carrier with my soup. When I got to the car the sandwich had stuck to the serviette and was difficult to eat.Suggest the new owners invest in a sandwich wrapping system or buy a roll on tinfoil to alleviate this issue.Checked out the "evening" menu which was mainly interesting sharing plates cheese, meat etcWill go back and try the sharing plates at some stage. The drinks list looks great so I'll keep you updated on that!

Used to be a regular then Jellyhill changed hands, on the plus side the place is much cleaner, tables really immaculate, lighting improved (fixed) and toilets immaculate. On the negative side the new folk don't have a clue how to make a cheese toastie and they have stopped their loyalty card, ah such is progress.

My wife and I popped in tonight 12/11/16 around 5 for a quick bite as we had some time between appointments, ordered 2 sandwiches and 2 cokes, cant go wrong there or so i thought, 1 was a parma ham the other was ham and mustard of which i took one bite, never ever in my life have i experienced the like, the mustard was so strong,( this was either the type or in quantity ) it was painful to the extent that i was gasping, I do not exaggerate, I said to the waitress that the sandwich was not right and was uneatable, her reply was yes it is spicy. Spicy i can cope with, this was way more than that. I left the sandwich, shared my wife's, asked for the bill, of course i was charged for the uneatable sandwich. 5 stars for audacity in asking for payment 0 stars for the sandwich. I would say in the future lay off the mustard .

Myself and two friends arranged to meet here for a quick catch up lunch. We were unsure whether we would be served at the table or had to order at the bar.... after no eye contact from staff we assumed that it was bar service. I ordered the Avacado, and the girls ordered a bagel and cream cheese and a piri piri chicken sandwich. The pirpiri came first with a 5 minute delay for the bagel and then another 10 minutes for my Avacado. So by the time my meal came the girls were finished. My dish arrived cold as if it had just been taken out the fridge, with a look warm poached egg along with a layer of water it was poached in, resulting in a cold soggy ciabatta. Very un-pleasant to eat, and wont be returning. I suggest staff training in time keeping when preparing dishes.

Came here with a group of colleagues for dinner. The bistro has a great atmosphere and was typical of an academic area quality eatery. I had a ham terrine which was excellent and not as salty as they can be. That was followed by a chicken dish which was well cooked with potato and broccoli. There was a large piece of chicken and a taste sauce with it. Also there was a varied selection of bottled craft beers. Overall a good meal with good service.
