Steak was served lukewarm and i asked to get it heated up, it was taken away and then returned even colder( think they just left it on a shelf for 5 min)i then asked for the manager to (hopefully)tell him this ,only to be told he was on phone and would be with me asap, 9 min later he eventually spoke to me and reheated the meat( by this point id eaten the sides and wasnt ready to eat the reheated meat(which btw was a 50 pound chateaux briand not a cheaper cut)the icing on the cake was the bill ,,35 pound for two glasses of reg white wine!! I won't b back ( and chips are meant to b longer than an inch lol

My daughter took me yesterday for a mother's day treat. Steak was too pink, in fact it was purple. We had to send it back. Wasn't much better when it came back, it also lacked flavour. Frites were soggy, very awkward to eat from the small plates, very hard to cut the steak on these plates. No dessert menu on offer. More than anything the service was very poor considering there was only 3 tables off people. We would probably have had another drink if the waitress had come any where near us. Finally getting her attention for the bill it took another 15 minutes for her to come with the card reader because the staff were huddled having a chat. There was £4.70 added on for a service charge. If I was paying i would off asked for it to be removed. I definitely wouldn't go back.

Went for the steak and frites night each got a fillet and frites. Peppercorn sauce was like water and lacked flavour and garlic butter was fresh out the fridge. Portion sizes were very small considering the lack of sides and no desert menu on offer. Felt very expensive in comparison to another steak night offer we have attended recently in which we had two steaks and a shared side, two soft drinks as well as a shared starter and desert which came in almost £10 cheaper overall and had a much larger portion size. Service was also subpar compared to previous experience at other restaurants so really begrudged paying a service charge of over £5. Disappointing especially as I had previously wanted to try the Sunday roast but don’t think I will be back.

First & last time visiting sadly. Toughest steak or bluntest knife…. I’m unsure. I was left with a sore hand after taking so long to eat my steak. The fries were beautiful- best part of the lunch ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ after finishing our lunch, our plates were on our table for 15mins. We had to ask the waiter to clear our table so we could pay - not the most attentive service. Hate writing negative reviews, but I feel like this was warranted.

Had the tomahawk steak to share with my partner, absolute perfection, we had this with a few sides, prawns, confit hassle back potatoes, beef mac and cheese and the corn. I know this sounds alot but the sides are quite small so perfect for sharing. This was an solute feast and would definitely recommend trying. Will be back for sure.

We ate here on Saturday night with my brother and sister inlaw. Given this is a steak restaurant you'd think they know how to cook one. We had 3 ribeyes and one rump steak. One of the ribeyes (medium rare) was very tough and was sent back. It's replacement was raw! Apparently down to not having been in the sous-vide bath. We were asked what temperature we asked for before this was taken away. 2 free sides were provided which were excellent. A real shame as the restaurant and atmosphere were good but that one steak ruined the night.

A let down really. Went for the mon-wed steak frites deal. While the service and the actual space was really nice the food was disappointing. The steak quality was nice but almost completely unseasoned but that's by the by and subjective. The worst part was the chips. The actual dish is called steak frites. To have soggy oil soaked fries accompanied by a good quality steak is disappointing to say the least. Doubt we'd go back as the "fried" onions were the same. Soggy, very obviously undercooked and saturated in oil.

Went yesterday for Sunday lunch, EXPENSIVE. We only had a main course and we were £40.00 each, incl a drink, ouch! Staff were friendly enough, and the place was clean and tidy and reasonably busy for a Sunday. This place is nothing special in terms of atmosphere, so don't expect a grand dining experience. Too rich for my pocket, so I won't be back any time soon.

First time I've visited this place, certainly won't be the last. I had the sharing steak with my son, I was absolutely delighted with it, I did find it a little expensive but I have to admit it was totally worth it. Excellent service and value, lovely atmosphere. I've been told that on a Monday it is cheaper, although I can't confirm if that is the case, but I will be checking this out. I will be returning soon hopefully, a great wee find.

Came for the £10 steak frites…Positives: 1. For £10, you really can’t be too negative, price is amazing. 2. The restaurant is nice…decor & vibe. 3. The waiters are very polite, and I didn’t have to wait too long for my food to arrive. Couple negatives worth mentioning though: 1. Not sure if it’s because I opted for the well done flat iron steak (they give you 2 cooked options on the menu, pink or well done…and it’s also only the flat iron option that’s £10, the fillet option is £28) but mines didn’t come pre-cut looking all nicely presented as you might see on their socials. I just had a handful of large chunks. 2. When ordering, I asked the waiter if I can have ketchup also but when bringing my food over, he just put it on my table and left meaning I had to wait for him to reappear and be done serving other guests before I can request ketchup and salt (non supplied on table) 3. No steak knives on the table, no sure if this is a safety thing but the knives that are provided look like they are just for show as they are like mini butcher chopping knives with no cerated edge to cut through the steak. All in all, the few wee negatives don’t outweigh the positives and I am just being picky to leave an honest review in the hopes that my comments get fed back to the restaurant and they can continue improving. Will return for sure. Note: Bill for 1 person for flat iron steak frites, garlic butter & bottle or coke was £17.60

We have been regulars at Chateau X since it opened and absolutely can not fault the food and service. The food is delicious, always cooked to perfection and great value. I wanted to leave a review for the staff after I was accidentally charged twice for a meal last week, the issue was rectified fast and efficiently when I visited today and we also got a lovely surprise when our lunch was on the house. There are many steak restaurants in Glasgow but this is the best.

Went for lunch after a raving review from family, but left a little disappointed. The portion size looked great, but the chips were the saltiest chips I'd ever tasted, ruining the meal, taking away from the steak, which was average anyway. The service was great, but no one checked back on the meal, meaning I had to flag someone down. The food was kindly replaced, although I wasn't really needing a whole new steak, the steak was much better the second time. The chips were better, but even still, very salty. The wine was expensive and nothing special. It would be nice to have an affordable glass on offer to go with the steak and frites deal.

Had a booking for 7.30pm, arrived 7.20pm and the front of house guy said we were too early.. so we said we’d wait in the car which we did, I couldn’t see what the problem was being 10 mins early though. We watched 3 lots of 2 couples leave then went back in at 7.28pm, we were taken into the back room where there were 2 table is 4’s empty, going through there was empty tables in the front also. The food was lovely as it always is, but this was a wee treat for my sons and the whole experience was ruined by this one person! I’d understand is we were half and hour early and that the restaurant was too busy for us to stand and wait, but it wasn’t, and the other table of four never got used until 8.10pm . Just don’t get it but I won’t be rushing back in a hurry .. it took the goodness out of the deal!

The chateauvriand was excellent and very reasonably priced. The wine list also featured many good wines that did not cost an arm. Service was kind and fast. The only minor criticism is that I would have liked slightly larger portions, but in fairness the quantity was broadly commensurate to the price. Definitely worth a visit if you love red meat.

We were seated in the back room, with great food, and good service. However, there was loud music playing (right above my head) which stopped me hearing the staff and my good lady, they lowered it then cranked it back up again. Nobody wants to hear Robbie Williams when dining out. (not me anyway) The Chateaubriand and accompaniments were as expected, however the Peppercorn sauce was an absolute showstopper.

Chateaubriand was perfectly cooked to our taste and was of excellent quality. The sides of cauliflower with cheese, fries and mushroom with chilli were also very good. We had a table downstairs which smelled of airfreshner and toilet smells. When i looked down there was actually an air freshener under the table ( I could taste it in the air) Carrots were cold (sent back) and chips were (strange) disappointing. Steak was very nice and cooked how I like it. We have visited many Nico establishments. I would say this was the worst experience so far. I had looked forward to this visit but i was disappointed so was my wife.

We dined at Chateau-X in for my sister birthday. The food was outstanding and very delicious. Despite our stake was slightly on the medium side rather than rear we enjoyed it so much and all side orders were equally excellent. I definitely recommend the carrots! The wine was good. Service was on point, and attentive when needed. The dining area at the back of the restaurant is very nice especially for smaller groups. They really made us feel special. Was in Glasgow for a conference and wanted to try a bunch of different places. I loved the food so much the first time, that I decided to go back again! Luckily I was able to catch the Sunday roast option which was a flank steak and all the delicious sides one could want (Mac and cheese, broccoli, roasted potatoes, carrots, gravy and of course the Yorkshire pudding). Service was excellent and the atmosphere was very nice. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great steak.

Went for the Sunday roast as part of my partners Birthday. Arrived early, and had only sat down for a minute before being asked how we wanted our steaks done and then the menus were taken away. Never got a chance to look at starters or any extras. Got a quick look at the cocktail menu before that was swiftly taken away as well. Our meal arrived about 5 mins later. Our drinks hadn't arrived during the meal, so we had to ask where they were. Initially they brought out the wrong drink. I ordered a Negroni at £9 which you could've downed in 1 sip, the measurements were that pathetic. The steak itself was mediocre, made all the more difficult to eat with the novelty meat cleaver they give you instead of a proper steak knife. All in, we were in the restaurant for about 40 mins, so it was very rushed, which turned out not to be a bad thing. Would avoid at all cost.

First time here with my sister for a birthday dinner. They're Monday special ... Steak Frites. Service was quick & the food was hot, so there were fries on the bottom with 7 thick slices of steak done to my preference with peppercorn sauce. The first couple of slices were a bit fatty ... but otherwise very tasty, the tobacco onions were a treat as well. The Monday Special can be a busy day with a queue. I would suggest getting there early.

I have eaten here 5 times. Each time I’ve used a card / voucher deal and generally enjoyed the food and service each visit. However because the last voucher I bought was a ‘Black Friday’ voucher (even though it was purchased a full 7 days after Black Friday) Because of this the voucher was only valid for 3 months??? Much less than standard validity. This shady Business practice has left a sour taste in my mouth and I won’t be back.

I would say overall it was an okay experience and nothing out of the ordinary. We had Sunday Lunch and I think that might be all they do on a Sunday (no ala carte) so it comes with trimmings included and you can choose two cuts of beef. Chateaubriand which is like £35pp or a flat iron steak which if I remember was like £22pp. Place was pretty busy and we were actually late but we got sat straight down then had a drinks order taken, there was two massive tables and they hadn't been served so we thought we would be in for a long wait but we actually got our food before them so they were efficient in the kitchen. If you are paying over £70 just for Sunday dinner then you would expect it to be pretty good but I would say I left very underwhelmed. Your beef (we went with the chateaubriand) comes with carrots topped with pesto on them which were actually really good as were the roast potatoes. a big dollop of mash potato, a wee pot of mac and cheese but it was the least cheesiest mac and cheese I've ever had. The Yorkshire puddings were really, really brittle and had a texture akin to polystyrene but they did taste nice but the texture was off-putting. two wee dinky tubs of gravy, like literally about 100ml combined if you are lucky. Our beef was cooked how we like it but overall the taste just wasn't there. I just expected more for the price they are asking.

Yorkies looked impressive but tasted more like puff pastry rather than butter and so greasy. Carrots rock hard not Al dente beef dripping butter just a plate of fat no butter taste to it. Better steak knives rather than meat cleavers needed . The only reason I'm scoring 3 stars is because of the staff who were lovely and very helpful Think before you go as it's not the cheapest

Unfortunately the chateaubriand was tough and hard to get through even though we ordered it medium rare. The sides were much better than the meat. Probably not worth the £65 if I'm honest. Watch out for the service charge that gets added automatically.

We had a large party and spent a significant sum of money. Despite the food being good, it couldn’t be enjoyed by the fact we weren’t warned upon booking, but only on arrival, we had only 2 hours to eat and they needed the table back promptly. I could have understood the request better if it were two people dining but to request that of a large party of people was a real let down. It was a pressured eat and get out situation where we were told at the beginning, within 5 minutes of arriving for our booking we were asked to place our order or there wouldn’t be enough time and at the end, there was no time for desserts because despite a dessert order placed, they suddenly told us we had 5 minutes to eat a hot pudding that hadn’t yet arrived, so we had to cancel. Despite the good food because it was more fast food than a dining experience, we all walked away feeling very disappointed. This is not a place suited for large groups of people because their focus on what they want to achieve for their business and hope to achieve is mis-matched. I hope they take this review on board to make a success out of their business.

Fantastic tantalising culinary experience for the taste buds! The fresh sourdough bread arrived warm and with what appeared to be homemade butter tasted amazing ! I had raspberry mocktail made with fresh raspberries was perfect, the most delicous moreish refreshing drink I ever tried. The server (female, red hair) presented very bubbly and went over and above to provide a 5 star service to our table. The chateaubriand was cooked to perfection and the meat was of good quality, the sauces and sides were the piece de resistance of the entire meal ! We ordered the hispi cabbage which was my personal favourite made me want to recreate the recipe everything from the taste, seasonings and the mustard accompanying sauce was spectacular. The confit potatoes were perfect, a fusion between traditional roast and smokey patatas braves with a slightly sweet carrot marinade speckled throughout. The fries were also tasty crispy and fresh! My only regret is not trying the tobacco smoked onions as we noted that others had ordered and looked elite. On the flip side I didnt like the curtain at the entrance I felt it could work better if drawn back as when entering it felt like we used the wrong door and was slapped in the face with a thick fabric curtain. The restaurant was cold. The stairs were very narrow and poorly lit and in my stiletto heels I nearly fell several times sober may i also add :) The seating arrangement in my opinion was more of a cafe/bistro rather than the 5 star exemplar the food and drink suggests, would benefit from bigger tables, possibly booths to offer more privacy and romantic ambience for couples and perhaps giving certain parties the option to sit upstairs. The music was great too added to the atmosphere and the decoration throughout was boutique, artsy and classic, the overall style was modern and unique. All in all though it was an amazing restaurant and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a reasonable priced, modern, mouth-watering dishes/drinks.

Riding off of an initially strong impact, now an an entirely forgettable husk. The indifferent service, boring food,, And rolled up cigarettes in the disabled bathroom tells you that, at all levels, no one cares anymore. This is not an issue with staff but management who have given up (as ordered) a long time ago. Complacency and negligence are writhe within these walls. The steak itself was good but everything else left a bad taste (highlighting the Mac and cheese which tasted like plastic). It's a budget experience at a budget price. Take of that what you will.

We went on a Sunday for the Sunday roast to celebrate us getting married. The staff were AMAZING. So genuinely nice and helpful, I couldn't fault them one bit. All the sides were super good, cocktails are delicious and well priced. Our steak was overly fatty and we physically couldn't eat half of it. What we could eat was INCREDIBLE though. We made them aware of this and they took what we couldn't eat back to the kitchen to cook it more to try to render out the fat a little more. It helped a bit, and we got to enjoy more of the steak. Well done, but with how high the meat quality is even well done it was delicious and juicy. They ended up removing the steak from the bill, which was so lovely of them. Offered us free dessert too, but by that point we were stuffed so we declined. So there were some issues with our meal, but they bent over backwards to help us and to fix it. I would dine there again in a heartbeat! Because we were celebrating our wedding they even brought us some free prosecco and bread and butter (which was also amazing btw? I know it's just bread and butter but omg)

10/10, I've been wanting to try Chateau-X for a while and so glad I finally went. We went for the chateaubriand roast and it did not disappoint. It was perfect for two people sharing and was just the right amount of everything. The wee free cone at the end was a perfect dessert. Definitely book in advance as it was busy. The atmosphere and staff were brilliant and I'll definitely be back to try the tomahawk roast.

I really enjoyed this place, nice relaxed atmosphere. Busy enough without being too loud. 4 out of 5 for atmosphere because we were seated in the basement rather than up on the ground floor but not a big deal. The food and service more than made up for that little thing. Steak was superb, well cooked. Wine was lovely, starter was nearly finished before I remembered to take a pic of the sticky beef croquettes. I'll definitely be back.
