Very cold building! Decent food, but would only return on warm days or if they got the heating sorted

Gemma’s service was excellent, the food was outstanding, as were cocktails by Nico on the bar, we don’t get out much so this was a special treat which we really enjoyed, thanks so much to team x

I had a table booked for 7:45pm and I food only arrived an hour later at 8:50pm. I understand that staffing levels are low and it's a Friday night but the tomahawk steak was unseasoned and bland , granted it was cooked perfectly , but for 75 quid a steak I would have expected at least some salt or seasoning, it just felt a bit underwhelming. My doctor says I should be on a low salt diet due to my blood pressure so I thank the kitchen staff and chefs for not including any salt or seasoning in the steak. Not going to come back anymore as spending over 75 quid for an unseasoned steak is bad for my mental health Oh yeah and don't be fooled if customer service says they will handle your complaint personally, sent two emails and was ghosted. Was ready to give it a second chance but I've changed my mind

Went here to have the steak and fries for a tenner. Had a table downstairs, not as busy as upstairs, we didn't arrive till nearer 8. Nice feel to the place, good atmosphere, tables not squashed in, decor nice, comfy seats. Amaretto sour was banging. Good selection of wines. Steak and frites (flat iron) was spot on. Side dishes available. Fillet steak and frites £20, daughter had this as it was her birthday ( her choice of restaurant). Service was good, the waitperson had good banter. Food was hot and reasonable amount of time. 10% service charge. Would go back to try something from the proper menu.

I went to Chateau X today and was bitterly disappointed. This used to be my wife and I's favourite place in town for a roast, but it's had a massive downgrade since our last visit. The roast used to be a healthy serving of chateaubriand, now it's two measly slices of sirloin. Yorkshire puddings used to be unlimited, now you get one. Mac and cheese used to be an inclusive side, now it's £7. The serving of roasties and veg is considerably smaller. Two out of four beer taps, which I was looking forward to, were off into the bargain. Downgrade after downgrade and very sadly, we won't be back, after it being our favourite spot which we often told friends about. Normally we come home stuffed, the new regime saw us order a Chinese on the way home, as we needed it. Very poor all round.

Amazing food, service and tunes! Excellent value for money!

Booked table for 6.30. We arrived early but had to wait till 6.30 as they were busy which was fair enough. We were seated but did not receive our food till 7.35. I noticed peiple who were seated after us were served before us. When our good arrived the sides were cold. We received an extra side because it arrived instead of the sides we ordered so they let us keep it. Drinks were expensive almost as much as the food. I ordered 250 ml of red wine and a porn martini which came in at atound £25. We had a gift voucher but without it i would say it was overpriced for quality of food and length of service. Disappointing. I would not return. Fries were nice. Tobbaco onions were nice but cold as were the carrots. I mentioned to waiter and he said they would have been warmed up for us but we waited so long we couldnt be bothered. The vibe felt cramped and we couldnt have a personal conversation as tables so close to each other. Shame as we were really looking forward to it.

Went here today for my birthday there was 5 of us. Really enjoyed everything about it! Nice food nice staff nice decor. Great deal they have on mon-wed steak&chips for £10. Will be back thankyou :)

I recently visited Chateau-X during a trip to Glasgow, and it was an unforgettable dining experience. The food was absolutely second to none. Even though the menu didn’t offer the specific cut of steak I was hoping for, the kitchen staff went out of their way to accommodate my request, which truly made the evening special. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the drinks were perfectly crafted, and the service was top-notch. I would go back in a heartbeat! Highly recommended for anyone visiting Glasgow.

Having dined several times before and recommended - was disappointed at the latest visit. Went for Sunday lunch - was previously excellent with chateaubriand option. This option is now gone. Instead, was replaced with roast sirloin which should still have been decent. Meat portion was small and poor quality. Very fatty and chewy. Let waiting staff know about this and was given no response or resolution/apology at the time. Won’t be back for Sunday roast. A shame as was previously excellent. Does not represent the same value as previous. Hopefully they can rectify these issues with their menu, meat quality and service as it’s a shame.

Git the Sunday roast dinner with all the trimmings also the macaroni side with beef was fantastic. The service was nice but could do with cushions on the chairs. I would have liked more than 1 and a half slice of beef, the vegetable were ok but felt the meat and potato a bit sparse but overall a pleasant meal fir the amount I got But wouldn't rush back

Was in Glasgow for work for a few days and noticed Chateau-X Steak frites offer. Enjoyed a fantastic meal Monday so went back and again Wednesday for the same thing. Brilliant food and great service. Will be back again for sure.

Awesome dinner at Chateau-X!! Flatiron steak perfectly cooked Medium. Lovely carrots and crispy onions and fries to accompany, with a gorgeous Bearnaise sauce. Excellent wine list and outstanding service and ambience. Highly recommended ♥️

Booked for a birthday dinner. The manager was rude and made our table feel very unwelcome; stated they needed the table back when we asked for another drink after our mains (even though the place was empty and this was at a reasonable hour). The knives are a gimmick and impractical. The cheesecake was inedible, overly salted - this arrived late after our allotted booking time. Other staff were friendly, roast beef was fine but overall I would not recommend and won't be returning.

The £10 steak frites deal Mon-Wed is great value for money. Unfortunately, the fries and tobacco onion side were underwhelming, soggy, and full of oil. The service was incredibly slow, so much so that after 30 min waiting to order desserts, we had to leave and asked for the service charge to be removed for the first time in my life. The novelty knives are impractical, and the raised lip on the dish makes it incredibly difficult to cut the steak.

Both me and my uncle had to send our steaks back three times because they couldn’t cook it well done.

Superb steak restaurant with the most beautiful interior design out of any restaurant I’ve been to in Glasgow. On Monday to Wednesday you can have steak frites for £10 per person. Every time I’ve eaten here my steak has been cooked perfectly. The sauces are very tasty. All the staff have been very kind and professional every time. I will keep coming back👍🏻

Great steak restaurant. We were staying 10 mins walk away in the Radisson and were recommended here. I will return and booked for the end of the week next time when they do the bigger steaks.

This is a too-good-to-be-true kinda restaurant! The steak and fries were surprisingly inexpensive and delicious. So was the "house" red wine. The service was equally great, with very professional (and cute) waitresses with a great sense of humour too! Highly recommended. Will probably go there again.

Perfection.  I wish I had found this place before...

That was very underwhelming, chips very soggy and swimming in oil. The steak very bland, don't think it was seasoned. Very good value on steak and fries for £10 Mon to wed. I got fillet and surf for £25. The prawns were cooked very well but not sure it was worth £25. Also the knife looked cool but was really hard to cut on the tiny dishes they serve with. Very impractical. Very good cocktails. Overall good for a cheap steak but don't expect the best quality.

Overall, dining at this steak restaurant is always a great experience, and it’s a place I consistently return to. This time, we decided to try some new dishes, including the arancini and the new confit potatoes, along with the porterhouse and tomahawk dry-aged steaks. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the cocktails were equally impressive. However, there were two minor disappointments during this visit. Despite ordering all our steaks medium-rare, the porterhouse came out mostly medium/well-done, with only the middle being medium. Additionally, the salad that accompanied the dishes had an odd taste, reminiscent of medicine or cleaning products. That said, we still thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Just to note, we didn’t mention these issues to our server, as we’ve never encountered anything like this before and didn’t want to cause a fuss.

The steak frites was their special. The steak was perfectly cooked and very well rested. The frites were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The sides were very tasty. Outstanding.

We have visited Chateau x on a Sunday on many occasions and the food and service has always been excellent. We always had the Chateaubriand and we were never let down, I went today with my daughters and the normal cut of beef had been replaced with a sirloin of beef which was very disappointing and no where near as nice, my daughters beef was half full of gristle and fat and they didn't enjoy it at all, my own beef was slightly better but not by much. The potato's and vegetables as always were very nice though. It's such a shame but unfortunately we wouldn't go back on a Sunday again.

One of Glasgow's hidden culinary delights in the West End. A terrific place, with real quality food, excellent service, friendly, good value and very welcoming. The concept of the deals during the week a great opportunity to sample this place within budget. Highly recommend

2023 - Great food, fabby cocktails a Club Clover so delicious. Very professional and friendly service. 2024 - Back again this year on a Sunday and had Sunday roast with all the trimmings which whilst more limited menu on a Sunday, select but perfectly cooked did not disappoint, lovely professional service

Booked a table for 2,couldn't find our booking, seated downstairs and this is the worst place to sit, all drinks are made here and the noise is so bad that you can't hear to have a conversation, low tables and uncomfortable chairs, bread starter was awful, ordered the chateaubriand steak, this comes sliced with some rocket, sides were extra, handcut chips were undercooked and tasted like the fryer needed cleaned, tobacco onions were just a nest of grease, mac and cheese was tasteless, overpriced dingy setting with very poor quality of food, house wine was £7 for 125ml, like vinegar. Won't be back. Bill was £93.50,with the service charge.

Visited here for the first time tonight for my sons 18th birthday meal. Staff really accommodating and took our booking with short notice. Food really good and far more reasonably priced than some other steakhouses. Definitely recommend!

Ordered the surf and turf and it comes with prawns. When the prawns came, they had the fecal vein (where they store their poo) still in some of the prawns. When I sent it back I was amazed to hear from the waitress that the kitchen said that they can’t help this and sometimes it is there. As a chef I know this isn’t the case and this means the prawns haven’t been washed properly so it was pretty disgusting to hear as this means people are eating this unknowingly. Steak was nice tho and the waitress did her best to make me feel comfortable.

I heard great reviews for this restaurant, even claims the steak was the best in the west end. The decor was very bland, it felt like we were sitting in a brewers fayre type of pub. We ordered the sharing chateaubriand and some sides. The amount of steak was tiny and would hardly be enough for one portion never mind two! The steak tasted average although the sides were very nice. Just over £100 later we were still starving. Never have I had to go to another restaurant for food after being soo dissatisfied. Wouldn’t recommend this steakhouse.

Absolutely fantastic! Maybe not the very very best steak I have ever had in my life, but definitely the best steak dining experience ever! I was initially a bit put off by the "pink / well done" description (I usually like my steak medium rare). I decided to go for the £15 flat iron steak, "pink", and with expectations not too high. I was completely blown away: I haven't had a better steak for double the price! The ambience was perfect for a steakhouse (halberds hanging on the wall, chandeliers hanging from the ceiling), and I got a side of roasted onions on the house, courtesy of the chef who happened to like the book I was reading :) Definitely going back soon!

Thought we would try their week day deal £10 steak and frites either flat iron or fillet(£5more) which is understandable. I’ll try not say too much but the flat iron was like chewing rubber thank god I have my own teeth bring a mincer with you if you have one. The fillet was not much better. I was incredibly disappointed. Good things, the plates were nice the crispy onions, salad and peppercorn sauce were the highlight.

Very disappointed. Walked out hungry. Tiniest portion ever ! The food was amazing. But the meal that was put down was for 1 person. We had to cut the Yorkshire pudding into 2 ! We ordered meal for 2 that had only 1 Yorkshire. And the smallest bits of steak ever! We got 3 tiny bits of steak each . And cost for that was £65 for 2 persons.. restaurant came highly recommended. Sorry. But wouldn't recommend

Although steak was really chewie, the manager replaced it, and a steak was incredibly soft then. The service was amazing! Especially waiter from SA stood out with their service!

Steak was served lukewarm and i asked to get it heated up, it was taken away and then returned even colder( think they just left it on a shelf for 5 min)i then asked for the manager to (hopefully)tell him this ,only to be told he was on phone and would be with me asap, 9 min later he eventually spoke to me and reheated the meat( by this point id eaten the sides and wasnt ready to eat the reheated meat(which btw was a 50 pound chateaux briand not a cheaper cut)the icing on the cake was the bill ,,35 pound for two glasses of reg white wine!! I won't b back ( and chips are meant to b longer than an inch lol

My daughter took me yesterday for a mother's day treat. Steak was too pink, in fact it was purple. We had to send it back. Wasn't much better when it came back, it also lacked flavour. Frites were soggy, very awkward to eat from the small plates, very hard to cut the steak on these plates. No dessert menu on offer. More than anything the service was very poor considering there was only 3 tables off people. We would probably have had another drink if the waitress had come any where near us. Finally getting her attention for the bill it took another 15 minutes for her to come with the card reader because the staff were huddled having a chat. There was £4.70 added on for a service charge. If I was paying i would off asked for it to be removed. I definitely wouldn't go back.

Went for the steak and frites night each got a fillet and frites. Peppercorn sauce was like water and lacked flavour and garlic butter was fresh out the fridge. Portion sizes were very small considering the lack of sides and no desert menu on offer. Felt very expensive in comparison to another steak night offer we have attended recently in which we had two steaks and a shared side, two soft drinks as well as a shared starter and desert which came in almost £10 cheaper overall and had a much larger portion size. Service was also subpar compared to previous experience at other restaurants so really begrudged paying a service charge of over £5. Disappointing especially as I had previously wanted to try the Sunday roast but don’t think I will be back.

Fantastic food. We had the flat iron menu, fillet surf and turf and it was on of the tastiest things I've ever eaten. Wine was gorgeous and the service impeccable. 5 star + all day

Quality of food has went downhill since it first opened in 2022 but prices have went up, was a big fan on our first visit a few years ago but sadly don’t think we’ll be back! Also bring back tobacco onions pls xx

First & last time visiting sadly. Toughest steak or bluntest knife…. I’m unsure. I was left with a sore hand after taking so long to eat my steak. The fries were beautiful- best part of the lunch ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ after finishing our lunch, our plates were on our table for 15mins. We had to ask the waiter to clear our table so we could pay - not the most attentive service. Hate writing negative reviews, but I feel like this was warranted.

Food was mehhh steak was tiny and like eating a pair of crocs, table was at half 8 never got out till quater past 11 we waited that long and they added a £12 service charge to the bill for a table for 2 was laughable not one for writing reviews but wow this was bad 👎🏼

Second visit here and it was just as good as previously. We all had steak frites special and it was perfect. Good portion size, plentiful with out starters or desserts. Great sides, especially the smoked onions. Have no concerns about returning again. Thanks guys

Had the tomahawk steak to share with my partner, absolute perfection, we had this with a few sides, prawns, confit hassle back potatoes, beef mac and cheese and the corn. I know this sounds alot but the sides are quite small so perfect for sharing. This was an solute feast and would definitely recommend trying. Will be back for sure.

We ate here on Saturday night with my brother and sister inlaw. Given this is a steak restaurant you'd think they know how to cook one. We had 3 ribeyes and one rump steak. One of the ribeyes (medium rare) was very tough and was sent back. It's replacement was raw! Apparently down to not having been in the sous-vide bath. We were asked what temperature we asked for before this was taken away. 2 free sides were provided which were excellent. A real shame as the restaurant and atmosphere were good but that one steak ruined the night.

A let down really. Went for the mon-wed steak frites deal. While the service and the actual space was really nice the food was disappointing. The steak quality was nice but almost completely unseasoned but that's by the by and subjective. The worst part was the chips. The actual dish is called steak frites. To have soggy oil soaked fries accompanied by a good quality steak is disappointing to say the least. Doubt we'd go back as the "fried" onions were the same. Soggy, very obviously undercooked and saturated in oil.

Went yesterday for Sunday lunch, EXPENSIVE. We only had a main course and we were £40.00 each, incl a drink, ouch! Staff were friendly enough, and the place was clean and tidy and reasonably busy for a Sunday. This place is nothing special in terms of atmosphere, so don't expect a grand dining experience. Too rich for my pocket, so I won't be back any time soon.

First time I've visited this place, certainly won't be the last. I had the sharing steak with my son, I was absolutely delighted with it, I did find it a little expensive but I have to admit it was totally worth it. Excellent service and value, lovely atmosphere. I've been told that on a Monday it is cheaper, although I can't confirm if that is the case, but I will be checking this out. I will be returning soon hopefully, a great wee find.

The best place we have dined in a long time, service is great and soo is the food and atmosphere. Would 100% recommend for any occasion. Will definitely return. Thank you!

Tried to dine in, was sooooo cold had to leave…. Either that or eat with our jackets on!! Was not able to use a voucher for a meal experience due to illness, too bad, we’re keeping the cash anyway. And that after what has to be the best fairy story of excuses I’ve ever heard!!! AVOID!!!! Go to Miller and Carter instead, great food, great experience, great service, great staff!!!! And it was WARM!!! No jacket required!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣

Came for the £10 steak frites…Positives: 1. For £10, you really can’t be too negative, price is amazing. 2. The restaurant is nice…decor & vibe. 3. The waiters are very polite, and I didn’t have to wait too long for my food to arrive. Couple negatives worth mentioning though: 1. Not sure if it’s because I opted for the well done flat iron steak (they give you 2 cooked options on the menu, pink or well done…and it’s also only the flat iron option that’s £10, the fillet option is £28) but mines didn’t come pre-cut looking all nicely presented as you might see on their socials. I just had a handful of large chunks. 2. When ordering, I asked the waiter if I can have ketchup also but when bringing my food over, he just put it on my table and left meaning I had to wait for him to reappear and be done serving other guests before I can request ketchup and salt (non supplied on table) 3. No steak knives on the table, no sure if this is a safety thing but the knives that are provided look like they are just for show as they are like mini butcher chopping knives with no cerated edge to cut through the steak. All in all, the few wee negatives don’t outweigh the positives and I am just being picky to leave an honest review in the hopes that my comments get fed back to the restaurant and they can continue improving. Will return for sure. Note: Bill for 1 person for flat iron steak frites, garlic butter & bottle or coke was £17.60

We have been regulars at Chateau X since it opened and absolutely can not fault the food and service. The food is delicious, always cooked to perfection and great value. I wanted to leave a review for the staff after I was accidentally charged twice for a meal last week, the issue was rectified fast and efficiently when I visited today and we also got a lovely surprise when our lunch was on the house. There are many steak restaurants in Glasgow but this is the best.

Went for lunch after a raving review from family, but left a little disappointed. The portion size looked great, but the chips were the saltiest chips I'd ever tasted, ruining the meal, taking away from the steak, which was average anyway. The service was great, but no one checked back on the meal, meaning I had to flag someone down. The food was kindly replaced, although I wasn't really needing a whole new steak, the steak was much better the second time. The chips were better, but even still, very salty. The wine was expensive and nothing special. It would be nice to have an affordable glass on offer to go with the steak and frites deal.

Had a booking for 7.30pm, arrived 7.20pm and the front of house guy said we were too early.. so we said we’d wait in the car which we did, I couldn’t see what the problem was being 10 mins early though. We watched 3 lots of 2 couples leave then went back in at 7.28pm, we were taken into the back room where there were 2 table is 4’s empty, going through there was empty tables in the front also. The food was lovely as it always is, but this was a wee treat for my sons and the whole experience was ruined by this one person! I’d understand is we were half and hour early and that the restaurant was too busy for us to stand and wait, but it wasn’t, and the other table of four never got used until 8.10pm . Just don’t get it but I won’t be rushing back in a hurry .. it took the goodness out of the deal!

Walk in request at 8.30 to be decline a table, too busy and other tables still due in, which is fair. However, website was allowing for table bookings still… then spoke to host who said “we’ve ran out of steak” …bit suss tbh

The chateauvriand was excellent and very reasonably priced. The wine list also featured many good wines that did not cost an arm. Service was kind and fast. The only minor criticism is that I would have liked slightly larger portions, but in fairness the quantity was broadly commensurate to the price. Definitely worth a visit if you love red meat.

We were seated in the back room, with great food, and good service. However, there was loud music playing (right above my head) which stopped me hearing the staff and my good lady, they lowered it then cranked it back up again. Nobody wants to hear Robbie Williams when dining out. (not me anyway) The Chateaubriand and accompaniments were as expected, however the Peppercorn sauce was an absolute showstopper.

Most expensive burger chips I’ve ever had . It was very dissatisfied with the food . I would never return to this burger joint .

Pros - Fab cocktails, delicious steak, mac & cheese, peppercorn sauce & deep fried gherkins amazing too Cons - Soggy fries, toilet was rancid (bin overflowing, used paper towels all over the floor, sink dirty). Staff were nice & pleasant but it was difficult to flag someone down to order more drinks etc I would go back if they had one of their deals on. But would be reluctant to pay à la carte prices.

Chateaubriand was perfectly cooked to our taste and was of excellent quality. The sides of cauliflower with cheese, fries and mushroom with chilli were also very good. The porterhouse steak was over cooked but the staff had no hesitation in replacing it with a steak which was perfectly cooked. Great customer service throughout the evening.

Chateau-X completely wowed me! The flatiron steak was an absolute flavor bomb – cooked to perfection and totally delicious. And let's talk about their beef cheek croquette special – pure indulgence that's practically breaking the internet. The vibes were cozy yet effortlessly chic, and the staff were on point with their service. Chateau-X is definitely where you wanna be for a foodie adventure that's setting the trend. Can't wait to experience it again!

Firstly huge thank you to the Manager fri 11th aug when we arrived for sorting out the problem we had and made us really welcome. The steaks were amazing and best sticky toffee pudding we have had so far and we have had many. Staff were lovely and had nice table, all in all was a lovey experience for first time visit.

We had a table downstairs which smelled of airfreshner and toilet smells. When i looked down there was actually an air freshener under the table ( I could taste it in the air) Carrots were cold (sent back) and chips were (strange) disappointing. Steak was very nice and cooked how I like it. We have visited many Nico establishments. I would say this was the worst experience so far. I had looked forward to this visit but i was disappointed so was my wife.

We dined at Chateau-X in for my sister birthday. The food was outstanding and very delicious. Despite our stake was slightly on the medium side rather than rear we enjoyed it so much and all side orders were equally excellent. I definitely recommend the carrots! The wine was good. Service was on point, and attentive when needed. The dining area at the back of the restaurant is very nice especially for smaller groups. They really made us feel special. I might have found a new favourite steak place!

Just had a lovely Sunday lunch with a couple of cocktails. I made a bit of a mess with my reservation and the lovely Irish lad sorted it out and found me a table. Loved the food and service was great. Highly recommend excellent value !

Absolutely amazing food and drinks - probably one of the best meals we’ve had in the west end. Fast service for a busy Saturday as well. Our server Eva was attentive and accommodating, couldn’t sing her praises enough. Definitely recommend coming here.

Was in Glasgow for a conference and wanted to try a bunch of different places. I loved the food so much the first time, that I decided to go back again! Luckily I was able to catch the Sunday roast option which was a flank steak and all the delicious sides one could want (Mac and cheese, broccoli, roasted potatoes, carrots, gravy and of course the Yorkshire pudding). Service was excellent and the atmosphere was very nice. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great steak.

Had an ok meal, staff were very attentive. We had an issue with our meal but it was rectified very quickly. It wasn't ideal.

Food was very good. Delicious chateaubriand. Loved the carrots! We were in the room at back, 6 of us ready to chat. the music was too loud. We asked 3 times to turn it down. Turns out if they turned it down to reasonable level for us it was too quiet in front section. In the end we couldn't be bother shouting so we finished up and went elsewhere. Food and staff were lovely though.

HAD TO SEND BACK STEAK AS IT WAS PINK, ASKED FOR WELL DONE,WHEN BROUGHT BACK IT WAS JUST RE HEATED AND STILL PINK.THE MANAGER TO BE FAIR APOLOGISED AND REDUCED BILL BY 50 PERCENT, I also thought the food and drink was very pricey for area.

The food was amazing, cooked to perfection and prepared quickly. Our server - Amy - was ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL. She was so kind and went absolutely above and beyond to make our meal amazing. This American will be coming back to Scotland JUST to see her. 10/10 ask for Amy and you will have a meal to remember

Went for the Sunday roast as part of my partners Birthday. Arrived early, and had only sat down for a minute before being asked how we wanted our steaks done and then the menus were taken away. Never got a chance to look at starters or any extras. Got a quick look at the cocktail menu before that was swiftly taken away as well. Our meal arrived about 5 mins later. Our drinks hadn't arrived during the meal, so we had to ask where they were. Initially they brought out the wrong drink. I ordered a Negroni at £9 which you could've downed in 1 sip, the measurements were that pathetic. The steak itself was mediocre, made all the more difficult to eat with the novelty meat cleaver they give you instead of a proper steak knife. All in, we were in the restaurant for about 40 mins, so it was very rushed, which turned out not to be a bad thing. Would avoid at all cost.
