JD Wetherspoon, The Linford Arms in Cannock Chase

Called into this pub with a bus full of Burnley fan on the way to a match. Chose and paid for 2 pints then just before he poured them I realised that they were ciders so I changed the order to 2 pints of bitter. I have just received a refund for the difference. I'm very impressed with that honesty. Thank you.

Bog standard Wetherspoons that does precisely what you expect from the franchise. Cheap food and drinks in pleasant enough surroundings, though without being spectacular. Did the job and that was fine by us. Lovely old building put to good use. Killed twenty minutes of the afternoon reasonably well.

Before the Lindford arms was a pub, it was a timber yard and a DIY before the likes of B&Q came on the scene. Always a good atmosphere good food and drinks, a mixed age group of people.

There is a woman who works there that has no professional expertise to serve food..she slams drinks down and has a habit of carrying meals close to her chin and often is seen huffing and puffing over them..nice place when she’s not serving..look out for a Tom boy looking woman and avoid eating if she’s on..

Good range of local beers and lagers, well priced. Staff friendly and the bearded chap offered me a taster of the ales, didnt catch his name but he obviously likes his beers and proudly explains and recommends! Pub is clean and tidy, staff efficient and nice outside area. Good value and food until late. Check it out!

Clearly says its open til 1:30 on a Saturday... But 9 minutes after being served a pint you'll have two bouncers try to bully you out the door and then have the manager come and stand there and deathstare at you until you do... Wasn't trying to buy anything more and wasn't harming anyone; just wanted to finish a pint I paid for. Should put such energy into sorting out their publicly visible opening times if they're incorrect! Not happy and it's on video.

Staff had no manners and manager was rude overall we didn't enjoy our stay and won't being going again.

Typical food that is pretty standard for a Weatherspoons. However service is terrible here and you are made to feel a huge inconvenience

Went for breakfast and asked for a refund..not sure where to start but the food is possibly the worst I have come across, bacon I would broke my teeth on,mushrooms were raw and beans looked like they have been cooked 10 times, the staff were polite but the breakfast took so long would of thought it would of been fresher.. not so random of under and over cooked.. would not recommend

Popped in today as new to the area , sorry but worst pub food I have ever had in my 53yrs, mixed grill that looked like it had all been chucked in a microwave, looked like Iceland food on a budget that could have used as boomerang s, a chicken burger that looked so dry and limp and a backed potato that was obviously a frozen aunt bessies, worst food ever and will never return Avoid

Went in at 8 o'clock for breakfast,before we set off on our coach trip, no-one in there as we were first people in, ordered breakfasts,they came mine was stone cold others was luke warm so I told them,bought it back nearly 15 minutes later,and my egg was not cooked raw on top couldn't even cut hash brown,so I left the whole breakfast,and will not be returning, this is the second time this has happened, when been in before

Had to pick wifey up from cannock so decided to call in this place. Well what can I say. I was served by Maggie who was a star. Abbot ale was excellent. I ordered the three for £12.95 plates. Blimey there was plenty. What a bargain. I nearly ate it all. All very tasty and served by guess who. Maggie. Overall a decent place to eat with good service. I would definitely eat here again.

Visited at 10.30am on a Monday morning, ordered on the App and tea arrived promptly. Breakfast was ok if a bit greasy. But then went to Visit the Ladies and I came straight out, dirty toilets, no toilet paper and dirty floor. So had to go to local supermarket. Not acceptable in my opinion

My boyfriend and I eat here yesterday on jubilee day when town was packed our food came promptly even tho they was packed the fish n chips was knock out

When weekly shopping in Cannock we visit our local Wetherspoons for breakfast.Quality is always reliable, food is always hot ,refillable cup of good coffee.Price most acceptable

The way staff treat the customers are terrible. They have no attitude and then we have told people that the disabled toilets are not for the normal and staff and drunk who smash the toilet paper dispenser and the staff have told some people who has been lending their keys to go to the disabled toilets they have told people that the staff toilets are so dirty they are not bothered to get them cleaned up there is food stains on the floor and the walls and behind the radiators they have no cleaning staff and when people have a meal and then when they leave the staff only don't clean up the tables, and if I said this in the Weatherspoons Linford Arms Cannock then I am barred from the pub for life that is all the information contained about this pub.

If you want poor customer service and bad attitude from staff who clearly don't enjoy their jobs, then this is the place for you! Have been coming here for years as I live local, but never in my life have I witnessed such poor customer service and bad attitude from staff, in particular the latest duty manager (Molly). Brought my family here recently for a rare get-together and to enjoy a meal and few drinks but was sadly greeted by miserable staff with lack of customer service skills. As we ordered on the App for ease, it became clear that the manager was not happy "waiting on us" banging our glasses down each time and no pleasantries whatsoever. Even when we tried to lighten the mood with a bit of banter, it went down like a lead balloon. She was clearly having a bad day and sadly we bared the brunt of it. There are ways to speak to people without the need for attitude and trying to embarrass them in front of others, and you should not be in this profession if you cannot remain polite and professional whilst serving your customers. I wouldn't have minded, but we were just out for a nice relaxing family tea, minding our own business and keeping ourselves to ourselves, unlike some of the noisier younger customers that were sat upstairs! I am in my fifties and must say in all the years I have eaten out, this experience was by far one of the worst, I am still shocked at how we were spoken to. I was mortified and embarrassed to have suggested we eat here and will certainly be more choosier next time our family manages to get together, which sadly may be some months away. If you want a relaxing gathering then id advise choosing elsewhere in Cannock - unless you do not mind your meal being served up with a huge helping of "bad attitude" on the side!

Were accosted by aggressive staff who were overly restrictive of our conduct after a jovial birthday meal. -Welsh lady was looking for reasons to kick us out immediately. -Manager was shaking with rage at us despite no interaction with us, as he threatened to take our drinks. We were rowdy but contained. Approaching us with an attitude created an issue that shouldn't have happened and caused an issue that shouldn't have occurred. Dampened my birthday and has genuinely put me off of future visits.

Random visit before a day out had a large and small cooked breakfast and a eggs benedict, all 3 were really nice and hot only gripe was the bacon was really really crispy more on the burnt side but we just ate it anyways, staff are always friendly, will definitely visit again soon.

Literally unresponsive, non verbal waiting staff. Anything that was asked seemed to be too much bother, and both young males had few to no communication skills.

Upon arriving there was the usual Wetherspoons Friday night atmosphere, everyone in good spirits as its the weekend. The waitress who served us clearly didn't get the memo. After placing our order via the app we received drinks that weren't even for our table by said waitress, they were simply dumped and spilled on our table with a very rude "here you go" as though she had better things to be doing. After she stormed off we managed to get the attention of a waiter and explained that we had been given drinks we hadn't ordered and that was soon resolved. Food came via the same waitress, yep, same poor service. She literally dumped the food anywhere she could and off she went. No who's ordered this and that or enjoy your meals, nothing. Extremely rude. No complaints on the food itself though, that was lovely.Upon a trip to the toilet and being observant, I couldn't help but notice the same moody waitress being quite polite with other punters in comparison to how we were being treated. What we had done from sitting down, keeping ourselves to ourselves, having what we purchased and leaving is beyond me. As we are not local I can only put it down to that. Kudos to the waiter who made up for the poor service we had received. Disappointing experience, hope the individual gets the training they clearly need as professionalism is lacking.

Good service , cheap has chips food and it’s a lovely old quaint pub , we sat upstairs windows open was most enjoyable

My main "spoons" that I visit when visiting cannock. Staff are all lovley, food is cooked well and the atmosphere is generally good. They were very covid safe when I went so no complaints with that.One and only criticism is some of the decor/ furniture is looking a little shabby but other than that no issues!

It pains me to do this. I like Spoons. However, a friend of mine was hosting an event for 6 and requested a table of 6. They gave him a table of 5 and wouldnt let me in. Psychologically things like this have a large negative effect on me.So sorry Spoons you deserve a 1 and I would give you 0 if possible.

It's been a while since I've visited this JDW in Cannock and thought I'd return. No probs to try before I buy, so I tried the Shipyard. I'm glad I tried it because the taste was okay to begin with then a little tangy. To be on the safe side I had a Brewdog Postmodern Punk. Being a Mr. Greedy (my daughter nicknamed me this in Benidorm ) I drank half of it before taking a picture.In fairness, the young female bar associate was helpful and understanding. In fact I got to chat with four members of staff and all four were accommodating.For my second drink I had the reliable Exmoor Gold. Taste was as it should be, and most of us take for granted the efforts it takes to maintain high standards on ales. For food I had the great vfm chicken wings. No problem to swap the blue cheese sauce for the hot one.Tip: enjoy the picture gallery, two tiered layout and two terracesGlad I went for the hour! (330-430)

The staff were rude but food was lovely. The tables don’t get cleaned that often though. Would not recommend. :(

We decided to go for a much anticipated post lockdown pint at 6.30 on 10th July. But oh my goodness has this pub not been listening to Boris? Large groups of single men and women everywhere. Tables full of dirty glasses. No sign of track and trace. No soap in the gents. I could go on and on! We left after 1 speedy drink and won't be back any time soon!

Wetherspoons is known for its good beer prices,the varied range of beers and spirits etc.However the food is just as good and at very reasonable prices.I woud thoroughly recommend the full English breakfast .Hot drinks - coffee etc- are top quality and free top-ups are available after purchasing the first one

Used Wetherspoons Cannock this evening food good staff very friendly good value drink and a meal in price..Unfortunately table we were seating at was not very clean very sticky had not been cleaned correctly. The menu was covered in dried beer class ring stains..I would have expected an establishment of this quality to have done better very disappointed....

We visit The Linford at least twice a month.Not only is it a good pub,selling drinks at very reasonable prices - you can also get very good hot food, again reasonably priced and very tasty.Visit any time during the morning to see diners tucking into a full english breakfast for as little as £3.40

A warm welcome, polite service at the bar with a great choice of reasonably priced drinks. Food was quick, hot and tasty. Waiter was polite & attentive. Good mix of clientele of all ages. Would recommend, great for the price too.

Visited for lunch. I had the sirloin steak medium to well done with a jacket potato. The steak was very tasty bit a bit well done. Jacket potato was very nice and fluffy. My wife had the sirloin steak well done. Very tasty but a fair amount of gristle in the meat. Jacket potato was very nice and also fluffy. The place is a bit on the dirty side. I know it's haloween but real cobwebs near to where we were sitting. Overall decent food and lovely friendly staff. Cleaners need to open their eyes.

Obviously higher members of staff take no notice of reviews as the barmaid with the short dark hair is still there and still extremely very rude, she really spoilt our visit on sat night, will not go in there again, disgrace.

Ordered vegetarian all day brunch and when it arrived it wasn’t vegetarian and instead had bacon and sausages. The person on the till wasn’t paying attention to what was being ordered. I alerted the person who brought it out and it was replaced but it’s a pretty basic mistake to make really. Noticed that there were lots of tables that needed clearing as well.

We visited Weatherspoons late Saturday evening after a lovely Indian meal at a local restaurant where the service was impeccable. Only to be spoilt by the bar person (woman with short dark hair ), who was the rudest person we have ever encountered in a front facing 'customer service' role. She had the worst attitude - barked at us from start to finish, didn't know the difference between red wine and white wine; offered no alternative drink options when the barrel had run out on a couple of the beers we requested, and when we asked to speak to the Manager on duty he had no people skills whatsoever, just defended his staff without hearing our side, and actually walked off. We will not be visiting this place again - she should be sacked and the Manager should be sent on a customer facing course at least, if not sacked also.I'd suggest these people visit Radhuni Indian, where Alan has the best customer attitude ever and could teach these people a thing or two about how to treat customers.

Visited while attending a wedding in the area, nice friendly staff , ordered the breakfast from the app , and arrived nicely presented and hot. A nice place to stop off and the locals are a friendly bunch

Bar staff Maggie is incredibly rude to customers and have heard her swearing multiple times at colleagues.

Beer flat .food terrible . Smoking in no smoking area,food left on tables. Staff hang around top end of bar discussing who is going to serve. This site saying they need 100 caracturs.. Bla.bla.bla.bla

Cannock is a market town with lots of shops and a church which had a wedding on that day, the Linford arms is a old black and white building that used to be a hardware shop and yard, there is a up stairs area with beams and a down stairs area and you can sit outside at the front or at the side, I brought a drink and sat our the front, I found the bar staff very nice and my drink was nice and cold, I found this place to be a nice place to go after a hetic shopping day

What a dirty filthy place this is, tables left and not cleaned. The food is awful, can't go wrong with fish & chips, wrong, tasteless. The toilets too are in a state, looks like the floors have never been cleaned.

We had breakfast last Saturday here just before 10AM and there are a fair bit of customers already. The whiff of coffee and fried bacon could be smelled from the entrance. It was actually a nice atmosphere and food was alright for a pub grub.

Most staff are fine. Short haired woman incredibly rude, practically throws drinks and food at you..

Very rude staff this morning. Staff are more interested in seeing to regular customers running over to hug them and fetch their drinks for them than they are other customers. Spoke to the manager about the rude member of staff said he would speak to them wasn’t convinced he would.

Not too busy. Managed to get a table. Ordered a mixed grill- bar person tried to charge me the drink price and a drink on top. Food was ok but the fried egg could have been used as a frisbee- how hard can it be to cook a fried egg?

I attended the Cannock outlet this evening with friends as I have done on numerous occasions. Unfortunately this evening there appeared to be some confusion on who was next to be served, possibly due to a lack of knowledgable staff. I shouted up that the end of the bar where I was waiting to be served was next, only to be aggressively told by Maggie that I was out of order. Maggie eventually served me, she asked what I wanted, where I replied 2 pints of John Smith's. Maggie said "Sorry" ( I knew she meant pardon), to which I retorted "I accept your apology" attempting to lighten the humour. I repeated my order of 2 pints of John Smith's. Maggie came back with 3 pints, I exclaimed I only ordered the 2. Where upon she became most aggressive towards me and said I ordered 3 pints. She then told me that I would not be served again and that I was barred. I have never in all my years been spoken to with such an aggressive manner or tone, the attitude of this person was breathtaking.

Popped in early evening. Friday is fish night so had cod chips and curry sauce. Reliable and reasonably priced fayre.

Out with my son for a post Xmas drinks. Great friendly atmosphere with a good team working with a high quality service.

I love the contactless payment option they now do. No more queues at the bar waiting to be served makes for a more enjoyable experience and more time with friends. I love the breakfast options here so much better than most places local. Great prices and great atmosphere.

whist quiet....a good selection of drinks + food menu variety. old world building , with good ambience.

Visited for breakfast on monday 18th March. 2 breakfasts and two coffees for under a tenner. Both meals served quickly and nice and hot. Pleasant staff behind the bar too. Nice to go somewhere and get good service for a change.

Looking forward to a steak with jacket potato as it's steak night. Yet again they have run out of steaks. Perhaps it doesn't happen that often but we don't often go for a meal and this is not the first time there have been no steaks by 7pm. I ended up with an overcooked beefburger and cardboard chips. Is it any wonder that there had been a mass exedus to the Hednesford Wetherspoons. That is probably where the customers who walked out went.

First time (will not be our last) and it was packed just manage to get a table upstairs as someone was leaving. We ordered off the nibbles 3 for £10. All 3 were hot fresh and very nice. Staff very friendly really pleased we popped in.

Food and service was great....had a great selection of Gin. We were served by the lovely Tom who kindly recommended all the most popular....be rude not to try them!!

I have always had lovely food here. Never had to wait too long even when they're busy. Not too expensive either. I also enjoy breakfast here. Refillable coffee.

Typical Weatherspoon’s pub, gets VERY busy, feels a bit overwhelming to order food when it’s busy with drinkers. May give it another go when it’s not full of Christmas revellers.

Popped in to have lunch. Reliable no nonsense menu. Service quick. Team are nice and informal. New barman George was great with the customers and Joff looked after the floor well. Inexpensive and zero complaints. Great place for cheap eats and bargain drinks.

Busy pub, alright pub grub. Staff aren't that friendly. Was okay for a quick meal, few drinks and go kind of thing.

We had our favourite chicken tikka marsala which was yummy. The service was friendly and speedy. With a table by the window we were able to watch the Halloween party goers passing by too.

Apart from the decor, everyone in the pub complans about brionies attitude, rudeness and lack of customer care. She is stroppy and rude to staff and customers. She tuts if anyone dares say their food is cold

Celebrating my birthday my better half went to the bar for drinks. He was served by Joel and couldn't have asked for any better service. Joel was so kind and helpful. He made my partner feel so welcome. Wetherspoons should feel proud. Thank you Joel

Don't bother. The only thing this terrible pub has to offer is tree members of staff - Carol, Dave and Thomas. They deliver excellent customer service with great smiles. The food is dreadful.

Have used this venue in the past for a meal but tonight, Tuesday 21st August had a Steak Date Night.

I was looking forward to a meal and drink at this Wetherspoons pub, on such a warm evening. There was only a couple of staff, only one waiter serving the food, who was obviously struggling to cope. A 30 min wait for food, which was not worth it. The salad lacked content just lettuce tomatoes and cucumber, this was my main meal for healthy eating choice, the small bit of barbecued chicken was rock hard, due to over microwaving. I didn't think the meal was value for money there are much cheaper better eateries within walking distance, so I will walk on by to these in the future. Not good enough spoons.

Sunday brunch is fantastic and just what was needed, kopparberg is two for a fiver and service was fantastic!

I eat here all the time, at least once a week. Food is always good, staff are friendly and the prices are really good!

Went in earlier tonight and ordered two drinks - one beer and one cider. They were out of both drinks that we ordered. The weather is hot and has been for weeks so it stands to reason that people will drink more so surely Wetherspoon's should ensure that there's enough stock, but then again it might just be a matter of someone not being bothered to change the barrels

Came here on the 5th of June 10:30, for a meal with friends after work. Ordered three pizzas, steak, chicken wings and sides. Enjoyed all

Used the pub for about 5 years now on my 2 weeks annual trip to the town. Can't comment about the food as I have not eaten there but it looks Ok and people seem to enjoy it.

The Linford Arms was a welcoming rdfuge from the cool weather so dropped by for drinks and relaxation therapy, Real ales and the Gin palace offerings appealed greatly, Always good value for drinkers and drinks quality very good.

We ate here a few weeks ago on Friday night with friends and shock horror they had all of the pumps selling real ale WOW ! also the fish and chips was probably the best that we had had at the Linford for a long time please let this be the norm now

Anyone from the UK will tell you not to expect too much from a Wetherspoons pub. It’s a chain that serves cheap drinks and cheap food to the masses. So if you’re looking for a quick bite and a pint without damaging your wallet then this is the place for you. I like this pub but in my opinion you have to choose your times. Weekend evenings it gets very busy and unless you’re there to pound beers you’ll be better off finding somewhere quieter. On the flip side if you are out for a session you can drink until late and enjoy a good selection of beverages.

Decided to try grill night. Arrived at 6.30pm and no steaks left!!!! In fact the only items available on grill night menu were hunters chicken and gammon. What a disappointment. No wonder the pub was half empty. Won't bother again

Went into Cannock for a drink on a Saturday evening for drinks and was planning to eat, however it became very busy and was difficult to get seated. Bar staff seemed stressed and rushed off their feet, lots of tables had glasses on and were not cleared.

Me and my other half love coming here! Cheap but the quality is great! Some of the staff are extremely rude but most of them are lovely so can’t let that ruin the experience!

Food is served quickly and good quality. Varied drinks but not the best of selection of real ales in comparison to other local Wetherspoon's. One gripe is the lack of customer service skills offered by most of the bar staff. A courteous smile and acknowledgement to customers money would not go a miss. Customer service skills need to be managed better from the top so the staff can show how much they enjoy their job !!

can any body tell me how is it a pub runs out of their most popular beers on a saturday night it seems that it is to much trouble to put on a new barrel after nine oclock i would like someone to give me an answer please

We visit a lot of Wetherspoons pubs on our travels, some great, some less so, and popped into The Linford while on a visit to Cannock. The building is ancient, dating back several hundred years, and has been restored to look like a building of its time. The decor is typical Wetherspoons. The staff however didn't seem to have much idea and when our food arrived we weren't offered any sauces etc, and had to go and hunt for them ourselves. The food looked OK however, my companion said the naan bread with his curry was stale and that the curry had a "rather odd" flavour and wasn't up to their usual Thursday curry day standard and later that evening had a very upset stomach. My fish was 'adequate' not great but not the worst I've had, but we didn't leave with any desire to visit the pub again.

My husband and I came here Saturday for a lunch, but was shocked by the disruption of masses of Football supporters obviously meeting to travel to a match. We managed to get a seat and did order a meal the chicken wrap was excellent, but the pulled beefburger wasn't, the burger was hard and the pulled beef was a very strange taste. I was concerned that the children eating with their families were subject to the constant chanting and swearing of the supporters. I have never seen anything like this before and guess what, will carry on walking past the next Saturday we are in town. Not good enough Wetherspoons.

The choice of real ales over the Christmas period has been dire even by the Linford Arms standards with some pumps continually having the "awaiting next beer" or "arriving soon" badges on them, come on whoever does the ordering get your act together and get the pub back to what it used to be or stand aside and let the one or two staff there who care a dam take over and do a proper job, try taking a leaf out of the Plaza's or Hednesford Lodges books both are much better run places and there is always a great choice of ales in both and they have staff who smile

This is THE worst Wetherspoons pub I've ever gone into. The culture of the staff seems to me to try and be as unhelpful as possible, starting with the managers down to the serving staff. We only go in this pub now maybe 3 or 4 times a yr and each time we hope that something will have changed. More fool me. If you have time to waste, then this is the place for you. All staff will get your order wrong and if you complain to the management team you will be insulted and belittled.

The Linford Arms started going downhill a few years ago and has nt changed .I like real ale and when the ales are available and not available soon as the case is a lot of the time the beer is dire .I tend to pop in to see if anything has changed beer etc .Nothing has changed for years .

Friendly atmosphere & good quality drinks at a good price. My usual starting pub when in Cannock. Could do with a re-fit but still clean & tidy so not much to complain about.

My usual watering hole when on a visit to Cannock. Usually for a cask conditioned ale, which are generally well kept and good value. Not ever eaten here so can't comment on the food. However the pub does need an urgent refurbishment as it is looking fairly tired.
