Hedgeford Lodge in Cannock Chase

visited 5.3.24 at 11.30 am my sister went to the bar to order our meals she waited a long time to be served by the only person behind the bar who was engrossed in doing something with raffle tickets to serve anyone when she finally got served she ordered 2 boneless chicken baskets we were sat at table 33 adjacent to where the food was cooked we could see our food had been prepared and was on the shelf under the heated lamps we waited several minutes and no members of staff came near this area so my sister went and asked the kitchen staff if she could take our meals as no one was handing meals out we also had to get our own cutlery we started to eat our meals it was several minutes more before servers turned up by which time 2 other meals had been waiting for a server for several minutes. no idea if there where short of staff

Good value, poor clearing of tables and coffee machine not working in one part

Quite busy but it is half term week

Ordered via the app and the food and drink arrived quite quickly. I'd ordered a halloumi and sweet chilli wrap, however when I was eating it I realised there was no sweet chilli sauce on the wrap. I asked a waitress if I could have the sauce in a little pot as it was missing and she told me right away that they didn't have any. It was really disappointing and more annoying that they didn't tell me it was out of stock when my order went through. There was also some dried on mayonnaise on my plate which hadn't come off from the previous person using it. This was the second disappointing visit for food there recently and unfortunately I won't be returning too soon.

Staff are miserable and rude also try their best to stop you having a good time. Other than that it’s not a bad place to go for a few drinks.

Never experienced service so unusual in any wetherspoons before we ordered breakfasts two came out the we had long wait.... By the time the other two came out they had eaten there's and mine was cold af

Went into here with 3 hungry children.ordered mix grill. 2 tikka masalas. chicken bites with chips.terrible food cheap meat on the mixed grill chewy an bland. The kids ate the chicken then left the tikka masalas. Baby ate 2 chicken bites and couple of chips. waste of 30 odd pound. How they can put the food prices for such poor food astounds me. Wetherspoons was only decent when it was cheap food now at these prices and poor food you might aswell spend an extra few pound and go an eat some nice food...

The food quality provided at this venue has seriously gone downhill. Service through the app was no problem although 1 of the 3 drinks was brought to the table with a dirty glass with the rim still having lipstick on it which then one of us still had to go up to the bar/find staff to have it swapped so no point in having used the app it appears that hygiene levels and precautions for the spread of covid and normal cold and flu symptoms have dropped. 3 Adult meals arrived with kid like portions, the steak looking like it had been cut with a hand saw and flattened out with a stream roller to make it look a reasonable size and being full of grissle, hullomi & onion rings had been over cooked and pieces of bacon from the burger wasn't even worth eating as it was mostly all fat. The venue now looks drab and becoming outdated and is definately due a freshen up. This always used to be one of our first go to local venues for a family gatherings but unfortunately not now.

Used to be a Good Pub, but food here has been shocking now for over a year, either food is overcooked, sub-par, tasteless or you don't get what you've ordered. For example had a rare steak here the other week and it was burnt to a crisp! They remade it for me but was still cooked with no red whatsoever. It also seems to be very difficult to get served at the bar, I don't know how or why it takes so long to get served considering there is always 3 or more staff behind the bar. Just woeful service,poor quality food.

1st class service and even better food. Definitely will be going again.

Good breakfast and price include unlimited coffee refill. Nice old building, convenient free parking opposite and nice building in good condition. The place fills up very quickly, so seating can be scarce.

Everything is very impersonal, no real service, ordering by app. Food was nothing special, very small portions. No Christmas spirit, just very boring. Have definitely had better, quite disappointed.

I went for breakfast today. It was very busy but service was good. We ordered via the app so we could see what was off the menu. It was disappointing that all the 'benedict' dishes were unavailable and also black pudding was off, but I enjoyed the traditional breakfast and the tea refills are always welcome.

Wonderful food, brilliant staff and Hereford lodge is so nice with plenty of parking quite close.

I phoned yesterday to check it was ok to come with my mobility scooter which was fine, however when I got there our party was in a back room and I had to ask people to move so I could get through, I then parked it by the room we were in so it was not in anyones way, however when it came time to leave the way the tables where I had to reverse out to the main aisle so I could turn to get out and several people had to get up and move chairs so I could move. I know it is a case of getting as many bums on seats but Wetherspoons need to be aware that there should be room for people with wheelchairs, mobility scooters to get in and out so they can enjoy a meal out as well as everyone else

My underwhelming Double American Burger was as uninspiring as an 12 yr olds Home economics presentation whilst they prepared it , hungover after excessive Evo stick abuse. 11 quid for a burger that could have cost me £3.90 at Mr Sizzle. The quality seems to have declined post “Covid” . I used to enjoy decently cooked steaks and sumptuous mixed grills before the dark days….before the covid.

I normally have a walk or finish work and end up here to have a coffee and easy meal. Been doing that for 2years then today a manager came to my table after i went to the toilet telling me there not stupid and I was up to "something" in the toilet because he heared a lighter and yes someone else was in the cubicle next to mine....i said it may have been the other guy 'nope!' It was me more to do with me sitting on my own so easy to accuse.

Oil needs changing food was soaking in oil . Not very good.

Mum's never been right since she got food poisoning from the restaurant. Used to love a spoons but after what's happened to mum I will never step foot in one again. 3 months of hell and she's still not right

Why are your real ales to cold ❄️ you don't chill real ale it's room temperature its not euro fizz it's a drink you should be able to taste and enjoy 😋

We have been coming here frequently for a few years as we are local and have decided that we will find somewhere new for food. Food used to be quite cheap and was good quality. Over the last few months we have noticed the prices go up as with everywhere but the quality has gone downhill. There seems to be no quality control with the food. Tonight I had the vegan chilli and my rice came in a block that I could have sliced. My chilli, although tasted lovely had all the over cooked bits on the top that you get when you microwave something in a bag and it clumps together at the bottom. Had quite a few bad meals recently. There is never a table check to let anyone know that something is wrong.

Very good my first time here I was very impressed lots of little rooms leading off from the bar. Good food good service at the bar a very nice young man. The place to visit.

Your standard Wetherspoons really! No problems in terms of food, drink and staff, that was all fine. Just the place itself is so dark and depressing. I did like the tent covers on some of the outdoor seating

Staff bit miserable, food took ages to come to some of our party, we nearly ate ours before her meal came,will not be returning

2 curries, 8 pappodoms, 3 pints , all for £22.74, amazin.

Always know what you're getting with Witherspoon's and for the cost of food you really can't fault it. This place is slightly odd in its layout with lots of separate rooms it does feel rather maze like, and on weekends can be really tricky to get a table if you're looking to eat.

Served by a Smurf As Wetherspoons go ( badly) this is the worst. One person behind a very busy bar One managerial bloke that’s bald with a beard that looks like a Smurf waiting on tables badly.. After ten mins I order my toast to be told the till is playing up? Half I asked for wasn’t available so I went for the barely toasted toast With that as there was a queue behind me the Smurf appears and barks “ make em wait” What fabulous customer service? As options are limited I had to suffer this culinary customer service disaster But here? Never again

Weatherspoons for a breakfast not a pleasant experience a twenty minute wait turned into nearly an hour finally breakfast came with part of the order missing spoke to staff who apologised and fetched missing items I can honestly say not the greatest .I understand about the wait but surley an hour is not good. Food for me not good sausage cremated as well as eggs to top it all off cold aswell . This was my experience and is not the norm for wearherspoons as I use regular all over the country will not be returning.This was my experience maybe a one off.

It has a labirynth of separate rooms, each with its own character. Main theme of decor is related to horse racing and jockeys. Food and drinks are standard Wetherspoon's menu. Tasty and good value for money.

Very slow service and somewhat chaotic at times , food basic and below normal Wetherspoons standard . Table next to us had to send ice cream back as it was fully melted by the time it arrived .

Service is good food really let's this place down fish is fried fresh lovely fish but then they put cold chips on the plate. The staff know I will send it back which I do 3 times a week. There is no love in the food why would you put cold chips with a freshly fried fish. I'm at the stage 1 more time and I go elsewhere. Those chefs should be ashamed at what they do . That said not all of them the thin grey haired lady always cares about what is sent out.

Popped in for a late lunch 2.30 app not working kept emptying the basket, so had to order at the bar. No Pannis so had a jacket potato with Cheese small potato with a small amount of cheese about a dessert spoon size. It was only lukewarm and very dry. Dressing was warm as had been on a hot plate. Other meals were only OK. Slow service and table check was not performed until we'd finished eating. Disappointed

Absolute joke come out for food ordered of app they took it out my bank and manager said he could not do anything about it he is rude and do not advise you speak to him

Beautiful building with a really lovely outside seating area. Food and staff are pretty standard for wetherspoons. The inside is divided into lots of different rooms so it's nice for a private catch up with friends

Always great value with a busy atmosphere, but can get a bit loud as it's so big, but plenty of space with all it's nooks and crannies ! Importantly the service is always spot on, as so well staffed ! Pleasant garden area to enjoy this glorious heat wave we are having ! This really put Hednesford on the map, and being on the edge of Cannock Chase It offers a great meeting place for all the family ! Sorry but some of the food can be below par, like avoid mash potato, it was so dry like cardboard at bottom.

Spoons what more do I need to say

Went today fathers day to have brunch burger told 1 1/2 wait waited about 35 minutes over cooked burger half portion of chips. Not enough staff.will not be going back.

We ate here 3.00pm on Thursday. I have to saty how shocked and disappointed I was with my meal. We ordered Fish and Chips, but were told there was only a mini fish available, so agreed to have this. I am not joking the fish that came was 4 inches long, the chips were dry and hard as if they were warmed from dinnertime. Cost £5.50 and was a small child's portion. Would not eat there again, sorry.

Visited this pub while on business in Cannock, first time we'd been in since the pandemic. What a disappointment compaired to our previous visit 3 years ago. The decor looks shabby and the tables weren't particularly clean and the bench seat I sat on had crumbs and other food residue stuck down the seams of the seat. The spotlights opposite to where we were sitting were caked with black dust and all the white painted woodwork, especially the staircases, are kind of grey with dirt and residue from people's fingers, so whoever does their cleaning should be fired. The food, and the wait time were adequate but it's not half the pub it was. Not in a hurry to visit again.

What a dump dirty tables food on floor girl picked glasses off table but never cleaned it. When our food came it was burned it was disgusting when sent it back and was told us they where having problems with oil in fryer I think the oil was dirty old oil and asked for a refund and got one this is the second time we have had a problem and we will not be going back used to be good but just terrible now

Went for a nice breakfast before work, it was nice but not as nice as it can be the beans,bacon,toast and hash browns were cold the only thing warm was the sausage and the egg. I won’t diss spoons since I like coming here but I wasn’t satisfied this time

My steak was served bleeding when I asked for well done then made to wait again for food not happy

Food was barely lukewarm, it’s dinghy and the place was dirty. Will not go again. We do go to many Wetherspoon pubs and this is the worst inside but has a great outside space. Would be ideal if you were just drinking

Edit: went this weekend for breakfast hoping they had improved having 18 months of lock down to practice but sadly even worse. Still cold but now No tomato on a breakfast and the mushroom is about 1cm across. Like a ration. Real shame, the main menu is good but breakfast terrible. Good food, good choice of drinks. Not as sticky as your usual weatherspoons..

Really not a great Wetherspoons experience from start to finish. The app is really fiddly to use, which I only did because I have been made aware that there are directives to the maximum time allowed for an order to take to get to the table. We placed 3 orders - 2 drinks orders and 1 good order. Neither of the drinks orders would have passed the timing test, and I'm not convinced the food did either. When the food came it was just not good enough - the small ramen noodle dish was less than half full (including the noodles and extra chicken we ordered) there was no tomato and a single tiny end piece of onion in the chicken burger. The boneless chicken basket had been over fried, and was more than 'crunchy'. Top this with really surly service and your get one customer that won't be going to the Wetherspoons in Hednesford anytime, and will probably steer clear of Wetherspoons good in general for a while too. Disappointing end to a bank holiday weekend

Always busy, great food and menu staff OK

Good hot food, service was quick considering it was very busy, the negative is it needs a decorative freshen up and the seating is very tired and dirty but the outside seating was great and looked new.

One of the best spoons I've visited, could do with a lick of paint in places but v good overall 👌

Had to move a cup off the table, but table was clean. Food was good nothing special, had chicken and maple bacon salad. Bacon was cold and not Crispy. Would have been nice to have be able to see what was included on the salad but didn't say on the app and there were no menus available. Food arrived without too much of a wait and everyone's else's food was good

place could do with a make over sat near a window which was filthy and full of mosquitos there must have been 50 in total had to clear tables ourselves as it was full of dirty crockery Tables dirty and not wiped after each customer

Bad customer experience with a staff member rolling his eyes and not even a apology from him but senior management sorted it out but had ruined the experience of being there with family.

Cheap and good beer half price to others in area no wonder pubs closeing will use again

Visited wetherspoons in Hedneford today, went for some lunch before a1,o'clock appointment, my partner had the Gourmet sirloin steak with mash, peas and onion rings, asked for steak to be well done, I had the Tikka masala curry. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, about 20 mins, as soon as I saw mine, the nan bread put me off as it has a coating of oil on it, on tasting the curry it was only luke warm and the rice was dry and bunched together. My Partners steak was very well done almost cremated, and that tough that even with a steak knife he had a job to cut it, it was as tough as old boots, the rest of the meal looked very unappetising for gourmet, I was definitely not eating mine and he could not have eaten his so we had a refund, they offered us another meal but we did not have time due to our appointment, plus we had no wish to eat there after that, very very disappointed and can see why wetherspoons are closing so many pubs.

THIS IS THE WORST WETHERSPOONS FOR SERVICE AT THE BAR, Food was cold as it’s cooked under a light bulb and nearly passed out from dehydration at the bar because the service was that slow. Would rather eat the menu than the food!

Went for a Sunday morning breakfast, which was really tasty and quickly served. Really enjoyed the atmosphere there.

It's a typical spoons place. Food is reasonable, quick and cheap, reasonable drinks, it's just a bit tired and the usual spoons level of atmosphere

It's a Wetherspoons what more to say, than maybe just clean the god dam tables and menus once in a while.
