Last minute take out. Food poorly prepared and lacked any authenticity or flavour, especially at the prices they charge: Shame as we were hungry. On the plus side the dog enjoyed it.

Good authentic base but my fresca pizza seemed to have packet grated parmesan. I was expecting an authentic pizza bianca. Poncy and overpriced for a cafe.

Been coming here for 14 years and it's still a treat. As a local, I regard Java as an asset to the village and it really does boast the best coffee, ice cream and pizza in these parts. Today, I had a bacon, halloumi and avocado sandwich and it was amazing! Generous filling plus a fresh salad. Really delicious. And it's great to see that this restaurant trains and employs local young people. Many local folk continue to support Java as it's an integral part of our community so it's a good place to meet up with local friends.

Poor and rude service. I ordered a take away latte and was presented with an iced latte when I explained that it wasn't what I had ordered the young lady behind the counter argued with me that it was and begrudgingly made the correct order, what a negative way to start the day. Unfortunately not the first time, we have ordered a takeaway pizza only to get home and find a completely different pizza to the one we ordered in the box. Staff seem to not be bothered about customer satisfaction at all. Another day I ordered a takeaway coffee and after 10 minutes of waiting the same member of staff who had taken my order asked if I wanted to order something?? Disappointing as the food is good and even more so as it is on the pricey end but the service sours the experience.

Stopped by with my daughter to get some ice cream. After ordering at the counter and paying £10 for 3 scoops of ice cream, stood around while staff rushed about and ignored us for quite a while. I've also been there for lunch and dinner. The food is generally very nice - but expensive.

Regrettably my experience of this trendy, pretentious restaurant was anything but enjoyable My, albeit belated, request to change my light lunch choice from a sandwich to a salad was firstly accepted and then declined I was advised that I would have to pay for both items as they were in the process of preparation but not even as yet delivered to the table It was impertinently suggested that I take home the sandwich I found this intransigent and unacceptable But all for the price of a not very good and stone cold bacon sandwich which took moments to make and could easily have been saved or dismantled for later use I endured a tedious and acrimonious argument with the staff and management Was it really worth their while to argue? I suffered the controversy again when paying the bill but paid, eventually, only for the sandwich Also I ordered a large glass of House Red Wine The cost was an exorbitant £9.91 – totally out of proportion to the cafe type situation This is a place not to be revisited

When you’re having a full English breakfast it’s hard to give high praise for something so simple however when presented with excellent quality ingredients cooked to perfection and served by friendly helpful staff it’s easy to praise. Superb!

Friendliest of staff. Delicious coffees and a brunch that was to die for. Both mum and I had the Eggs Royale dish. The presentation was brilliant and the food was full of flavour. Highly recommend. Try your best to avoid grabbing a fresh cake or pastry on your way out too ... Good luck with that. Will be back soon.

We ordered a take away which cost over £70 - we asked for the arrabiatta with spaghetti but it was made with penne, the carbonara had so much pepper on it I couldn’t eat very much and the 2 salads were not handed over. I rang and was tokd someone would deliver - took nearly an hour by which time mixed salad wasn’t required. Absolute shambles

We decided to visit for breakfast prior to going to work as a couple. We ordered our breakfast and coffee and 1 hour later, we were told that our food order was not even put through to the kitchen. We were not informed of this, we had to ask. We will not be returning.

Once again, 40 minutes waiting for 2 coffees. Why on earth do my family and I do this to ourselves? The excuse for the wait: "We're busy." God knows why, with this type of service; and that is no excuse. They must be busy serving the most patient clientele know to mankind, I guess. The, at times rude, generally unprofessional staff are crying out for some basic training - i.e. a present, competent management. Highly disappointing. Although we shared a quick pizza (‘which was very good) & the staff were friendly and attentive, my main reason for this review is the pizza dough. Java & Jazz kindly sold me several balls of their pizza dough as I have an oven at home and I was had guests that evening. The dough (which I understand uses the local Fermento Bakery flour) is fantastic. The results that night were the best I’ve had (‘I’ve tried several doughs) and I froze a few to see how they’d work…again, they’re great once thawed. Perfect for impromptu pizza evenings. Cannot recommend them enough. Great product guys!

Staff rude, no please or thank you, sausage roll served cold not offered to heat, no cutlery for food or drinks given and had to ask. I asked for oat cappincino being lactose intolerant and was served normal milk which I discovered after a couple of mouthfuls and therefore had to rush home as very ill!!

Great food and excellent service!! The pizza is so delicious and the pasta too. We go with the grandparents and take the kids. The whole family love Java & Jazz :)

We just went in for a spontaneous bite at lunchtime and got stiffed- had two mains and two coffees, total about £34, which was a bit OTT for what it was, but this is trendy Forest Row. Get presented with the bill and there's a 12.5% surcharge on the food which when I asked what a surcharge was, I was told it's a 'sort of tip' for the kitchen staff and is optional, but it's not unless you ask to remove it. Sharp practice then sees this 'sort of tip' added to the bill BEFORE VAT. So you now pay VAT on the 'sort of tip' so it's not a tip at all, as tips or service charge are added after the VAT. Won't be going here again, and the service was not great either, had to ask twice for a glass of water so giving any 'sort of tip' was questionable too

I have been visiting Java & Jazz over the last year or so and am so impressed with how they have managed to adapt their business during the pandemic. Their food is still as impressive. They are constantly cleaning and great with making sure everything is within government regulations. There is plenty of room in between the tables so you are socially distanced and feel very safe. Plus the staff are great fun, they go above and beyond to ensure every need is met, particularly with allergies. They have a great vegan menu, that I love! Java & Jazz is a quality, friendly restaurant - eat-in, takeaway, and now even home delivery! Great offer on takeaways/deliveries in October. Highly recommend their freshly made pizzas - gluten-free base available, and generous toppings. 👍

Although the pizza is good and the ice cream of excellent quality, I am forced to give a single star because they do not allow you to pay in cash, I think this fact is totally illegal, they say that they are obliged by the Council but it is not true to me: in all shops I paid in cash. There is no way that money is not accepted, it is a contradiction. But if you leave a tip, then that's fine. I am very angry. It's terrible. Also a waitress has a really horrible black mask on her face, if she really wants to put something on her face at least use a little transparent plastic thing, at least it doesn't look like a bandit around the restaurant.

Nice enough, although very basic, overpriced for a rather bland basic cafe trying to be a restaurant. The staff are friendly and helpful, food was quick and tasty enough.

Went here for lunch today and whilst the food and the measures for social distancing were good, the service really let’s this lovely little place down. We sat upstairs and once we placed our order and received our food, we really didn’t see anyone. We wanted more drinks so had to just wait until someone eventually came up to clear tables, drinks took ages to come and I had to go downstairs to ask for the dessert menu. The impression I got was that customers outside or downstairs got far better service. Don’t forgot your upstairs customers need the same attention!!!

Last night I held a fundraising event at this restaurant and we had a wonderful time. My family are vegans and the food was absolutely delicious. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this .particular nut roast as they can vary so much but it was delicious. The service was spot on with the courses seamlessly delivered with us barely noticing amongst the chat and the excellent pianist provided by the owners. They particularly specialise in fancy coffees and I can vouch for the tea. John and Anne, the owners were on hand throughout the night and all the staff were extremely friendly. I would definitely recommend this place as although it has a casual exterior, the standard of the food was more akin to that of a high end restaurant.

We visited Java and Jazz for breakfast. My friend chose the vegan breakfast which he said was excellent. All meals were delicious and we cleared our plates. The staff were really attentive and friendly. We were even allowed to bring pour little dog and and he was given a bowl of water from the staff. We will definitely be back

Recently here for a meal with work colleagues and really enjoyed the whole evening. The menu is extensive and the food was delicious. A little on the expensive side for certain things but that aside, would definitely recommend.

We went for dinner with two young six year olds and the staff could not have been more welcoming. The food was excellent and the service friendly and attentive without being OTT. We will definitely visit again as the homemade pasta and fresh pizza dishes were so well done.

My boyfriend and I decided to take a Sunday afternoon walk along the Forest Way. We chose to stop for coffee once we reached Forest Row. We had passed Java and Jazz several times so we opted to go in there instead of costa coffee as originally planned.

Lovely atmosphere and very sufficient service with meals being served quickly and staff were friendly, bubbly and vibrant. The only downside to the place was that the dessert took a while with the staff forgetting the order. Otherwise, a lovely quick stop here.

Have always loved this place since it first opened, it’s evolved over time & they’ve really got it right.
