Charged 30p for carrier bag and 50p for service when i picked the takeaway up....sorry what service????!!! Saag panir was inedible as too spicy!

Got takeaway here having been a big fan of the one in leith. The food was excellent and tasty with the tika masla hitting the spot perfectly. Will be back.

Place has changed. Its now called Desi Pakwan. Second location to Leith. Bit fancier now. They're not running their full menu just now..so it's abit limited..Training new staff too. Looks like its gonna be more varied than Jashans. Didn't stick about. Might try once they've found their feet.

A romantic dinner for two, super menu choices on offer, the first time I've had a walk-in sit down meal. I've normally had takeaways from Jashans. The food is tasty, and good portions too, the staff are discreet, attentive and knowledgeable about their menu and choices. I'd recommend visiting here for sit down or takeaways. Thank you 😊

We ordered food from here tonight as a treat for my wife on her birthday. Got the email telling us that the order had been received but nothing else. After nearly two hours we called and were treated like we are scum and had the most unhelpful person ever. So no food, over forty pounds down and a very upset wife. If you can't work with your online system, you need to scrap it

Came here with my family a while back and it was great. Was the first table in and the food was super fresh and came really quick. A lovely wee Indian with welcoming staff

The cost of delivery from Jashans is now £4 which is too much considering other takeaway Indian in area charges £1.50. Shame as food is good but this delivery charge stops me ordering from Jashans.

I travelled with two friends from the United States of America to Glasgow and on our way back decided to go for a meal at Jashans as a special treat. On the morning of Tuesday, 19 September 2023 the restaurant the opening times and menu (displayed outside) and confirmed that it would be open that evening. We duly arrived by taxi but on entering the restaurant we were confronted with a large crowd and were informed that the restaurant was closed and was always closed on a Tuesday. A waste of time travelling and a waste of money (taxi fares). A poor, poor show.

We've ordered from here before, and they never let us down. Decent food, decent service, decent people, what's not to like?

Pre ordered for delivery in 1.5 hours and turned up over 30 mins after scheduled delivery time and luke warm

We order from here all the time but this evening it was very rushed. The quality of the lamb tikka masala was very poor, sauce did not taste right. We didnt recieve our popadoms and pickle tray which we paid for and the order turned up aboit 20 mins after ordering even although it had saod 55 at the earliest.

I requested lamb korma and was sent chicken and i have to say the chef maybe needs to go easy on the mint for the butter chicken as it was all i could taste which wasnt very pleasant. The prices charged for an indian arent the cheapest so i would expect to actually have what i ordered and for the food quality to be of a better standard

Possibly Indian customer service at its best...Had a dinner there with not even average food and at 22.20 i was unofficially kicked out although they say on google they close at 23.00.Its obviously very stressfull to enjoy your dinner when the people who run the restaurant want to head home..Stay away!!!

After being asked to order because it takes a while ( me thinking, that’s good must be freshly cooked) and kitchen closes at 2120 (even though closing days 2300!!). From ordering it took exactly 5 minutes to bring to the table, mushroom rice, cheese Nan and Lamb madras. Rice was really greasy and madras was a bit shy of lamb and it must have just been re heated, so anxious about stomach tomorrow Most expensive cheese naan I’ve ever had £5.25 and wasn’t that good either. Won’t be coming again or recommending this place at all- no wonder it’s empty

Excellent meal. Really delicious. We always liked this restaurant it is consistently good and reasonably priced but this visit was especially nice. Also enjoy it because it is spacious and doesn't get too busy.

This is a family favourite, and our regular place to go if we want Indian takeaway. The food has never disappointed and has always been great!

Lovely local Indian. Service was great, wine very reasonable. Food was really good, a shame it isn’t busier but it filled up as the night went on, recommend.

Normally delicious but not this time No salad no peppers or tomato in tandoori very bland, naan was tough as old boots not the usual standard very disappointed

Dear Jashans.. On Sunday I called and booked a table for two yesterday Tuesday 31st January. The lady on the phone took the booking,, asked for and got my mobile phone number and repeated the details of the booking to me. We arrived there by taxi at 7pm to find the restaurant closed... So we had to pay a taxi £30 to get us there and then back home for no dinner out....!!! On Google it states you were open, but no answer to our phone call for explanation... On Facebook it states you are closed on Tuesdays so, if this is the case, WHY did you accept and confirm the Tuesday booking?? You took and repeated my mobile number so, WHY did you not call me to advise of YOUR mistake... WHY did you simply ignore my booking and WHAT are you going to do about the total waste of £30 in taxi fares to get no planned meal?? If I get a reply, I might, maybe might, consider your apology, if no reply you certainly will never see us again!!

The food here was pretty good. The lighting here is too bright & therefore creates no atmosphere, especially for couples looking for a romantic night.

The portions could be a bit bigger ,but that might just be me, lovely curry tho

Jashans is my favourite and have recommended it repeatedly. Always a longer wait than other Restaurants but recently getting much worse. After 2 and a half hours my meal arrived cold and had to reheat everything. Microwaved nan is not good. Called to ask when I could expect delivery and was told you will get it soon then hung up. Shame is the food is normally excellent .

Food had to be re heated which is outrageous when your ordering a takeaway!

Having happily used Jashans for 8 years I’m sorry to say that I won’t be using them in the future. There have small issues in the past (missing dips) but have continued to order despite this. I ordered a delivery at 17.25, it arrived at 18.43. Sadly my main meal was missing. When we called they told us it would be an hour before it could be delivered. That was 1 hour and 45 minutes ago from writing this review. My dinner consisted of poppadums and reheated pilau rice. It makes me sad to write this as I’ve recommended Jashans to many people. We won’t be ordering again. *edit to add* It arrived 1 hour and 50 minutes after initial phone call. It was also cold.

Excellent as always chicken tikka madras is beautiful. Only one problem we received a mixed kebab instead of the chicken kebab first time this has happened

I often buy from this establishment, but not any more. For the third time, my container is not full, and this time 3/4 full. How mean can you be? My order was a large one too!

Lovely Indian and came earlier than expected. The korma was a little spicy tho, never know it to be like that :)

I got a king prawn curry if your lucky their was two prawns cut into tiny pieces and for a king prawn at £12 think I deserved a better potion

Stated open on website from 4:30pm went with family around 5pm - closed. Stated on door open from 5pm conflicting with website. However was closed. Very poor should have stated online was going to be closed saved a trip with family had to get a taxi into town lost business won’t bother going again.

Ordered the meal for one. Great so much food plenty for 2. Chicken was lovely and soft maybe give a couple of options for this one though but great value.

Very disappointing experience. Placed order around 18.30 and was later given estimated delivery time between 19.55 and 20.15. After 20.15 the app stopped providing any information about delivery - there was just a message saying enjoy your food! Rang restaurant, was told driver still on way but traffic bad. Food eventually arrived about 20.50 but one of the main courses was missing. Was informed not possible to get refund from JustEat for the food that was missing from my order.

Have driven past Jashans many times. Tonight we decided to try it and ordered food to be delivered. I think we have found the BEST Indian food in Edinburgh. All three dishes had such great flavour and a perfect balance of spices. The delivery driver was very nice and polite and the food arrived exactly at the time expected. We will be back.

Absolutely disgusted tonight with our meal , have had jashans for years , tonight chicken not chewable and rice over cooked and to top it of a hair in my husbands meal at £33 not acceptable jashans 😡

O had to go and collect it after delivery ti.e, after phoning to ask and being told it was kn the way. When I hot yhere it still wasn't ready!!! Disgusting service

Food was only warm on delivery but the quality was great fantastic chicken jalfrazie just the right amount of heat and very tender chicken. My fav Indian in Edinburgh and I have tried most.

Awful place, Awful food. As an Indian, I say, stay away. Malai Tikka has cheese on it and they have the audacity to say that it's "their" style. The manager also started arguing with us, instead of taking feedback, his only concern was that we remain silent so that the other guests don't hear it. No one has ever complained about our food before is not an excuse to serve Awful, tasteless, soulless food and ruin the image of Indian food. Shame.

Never disappointed when I eat here. Food is delicious and staff are excellent. They accommodated 11 of us for a birthday lunch with no issues. I can't wait until I have another excuse for a visit!

Have been using this restaurant for years and never had a problem but in the last 4 orders the quality has reached epic depths Wrong orders , food missing , bad quality, and if you ask to speak to a manager they tell you he or she is not available to handle the complaint (Saturday ) night Will never use them again Go somewhere else for your carry out They are crap

Decent food but in three times I’ve ordered takeaway from here, first time they forgot one of our starters and last night they forgot a curry main dish, will be ordering elsewhere from now on due to this persistent poor service.

Very disappointed with the communication and delivery service. 2.5 hours for a meal for one deal and no offer of at least the delivery fee...poor show!!

Good quality but not very warm which is unusual

Missing rice, phones restaurant to be told they would drop when passing in the next 20/40 mins, by this time our food would have been cold. Staff member spoken with just rude, won’t be back.

Service is rubbish. Ordered food at 6:45pm.. it’s 9pm now still haven’t received the food. They didn’t even managed to update the order or call to inform that it’s getting late. When called to the restaurant twice was told it’s with delivery driver. The delivery address is just 2 mins drive from the restaurant but it’s taken more than 2 hours! Utterly ridiculous rubbish service. For food to be so expensive at this place not worth the service at all.

Early or late, closer to delivery time would be better , curries and rice were brilliant naan looked like it was too long in the tandoor (I’m nit picking )

Consistently late and no apology from restaurant. Blamed driver despite us ordering ahead. Will not get our business again.

All good except it was very late this time. Jashan's have been on time in the past for me.

We ordered a really lovely meal ( minus one dish they forgot) The call handler took my details twice reporting it wasn't accepted and asked me to pay cash. In total instead of £80 they charged us £240. Do not go anywhere near this place. Totally corrupt. When I worked out what had happened they denied all. Fortunately the bank of scotland had had previous experience with them and helped us out.

Order experience was awful, 17 minutes and counting as I think the lady just put the phone aside and served others! Food delivery was incomplete and the food was truly awful. Had to throw it away. Please avoid!

Ordered from here previously and all been spot on, however the last few times (this time ordered at 5:30pm arrived at 8pm) delivery has been ridiculous and food cold when it arrives. Won’t be ordering again from here again.

Dreadful. Order placed 5pm due between 18:05 and 18:25. Phoned restaurant at 18:35 to be told driver on his way. Clearly not true. 19:05 still no delivery. Phoned again to be told delivery in 15-20 minutes. Phoned yet again at 19:40 to be told it’s on its way. Abysmal service. Fully understand that delivery times are only an indication but 2 hours 40 minutes later and no delivery is bad enough but to be told it was on its way when clearly it wasn’t is totally unacceptable.

Great food. The set meal deal is great value for money. The delivery guy was above and beyond…saying “nice to see you Mr S” and so on. Not tried a vast amount off the menu but I like what I get.

Good food great price hot and on time

Waited almost 3 hours on the food. Once received it was stone cold. The driver was adamant he was outside our house, he wasn't. The app said it was delivered at 2030 but was actually 2145. Terrible.

I ordered a Jashans curry on 9 December but my mobile phone froze when I was ordering. I waited a few minutes and re-ordered my takeaway but then found my first order had been processed. I received a call from one of your waiters who questioned if it was a duplicate order, so I duly collected my one order. He said the refund can take up to 10 days. I have phoned Jashans on 19 and 21 December who said you would phone back but never did. I have emailed you twice on 16 and 18 December but no reply! When are they going to refund my money? Never again. First time in my life I’m writing negative review about restaurant. I ordered food at 5:15pm and the restaurant said the food should be delivered around 6:30-6:45pm (75-90 minutes waiting time sounds long but I thought maybe it’s worth it). Around 6:45 I got a message that the food is on its way but the food finally arrived almost 30 minutes after that message which brings waiting time to almost 2 hours. The food arrived cold and I had to heat it up in the microwave. Portion of rice for £3.5 was definitely small. The only good thing I can say is that amount of chicken in my curry was decent. Waiting 2 hours for cold food after spending almost £30 is not what you want. It’s only Tuesday, hard to even imagine how long I would have to wait on weekend.

Food was great, always good from here. Pompadom wasn't included initially in the delivery but the driver was kind enough to go back to the restaurant and get for me, excellent service from the driver this evening, my thanks to him.

Food is always good, but delivery estimate of 75mins max ended up being 2hrs 20 mins. Not impressed. Delivery estimates need to be realistic - just be honest! Been a happy customer for years but this has happened more than once now. Hesitant to use again.

Jashan’s is outstanding. There are other Indian or Bangladeshi restaurants in the area but this one is the GOAT.

Entered restaurant with 1 table occupied. Left standing at door for minutes, and eventually sat ourselves down. Staff then told us that most tables were fully booked for 2 and a 1/2hrs later! Can't sit on a 4 table, but was guided to another 4 by the window, presumably to help make the venue look open. Waited half an hour for a drink order and 15mins for a starter. 1 hour after arriving received a starter. Eventually got mains, and they got one wrong. On leaving was issued the wrong bill. The previous clients had left, but they managed to give the wrong bill. They argued that the order was correct. Over priced, awful service. Toilet lights didn't work, but was told to stand and lights would eventually come on. Fawlty Towers doesn't have a look in.

Hair in the Pakora, Hair in The Korma. Prawns were burnt and massively overcooked and tasted like rubber. Chicken also overcooked and difficult to chew. The food was also only lukewarm. This was after waiting an extra 45 Minutes from the time told at time of ordering online. I telephoned them to complain and the member of staff was extremely dismissive, just kept repeating we are very busy I don’t have time to take a complaint. He assured me the manager would phone in the next two days. Yes you guessed no contact. This is probably one of the most expensive takeaways in Edinburgh but the service and quality of food was absolutely disgusting. Avoid this place if you have any sense. Back to my tried and trusted The Delta at Roseburn from now on.

We have been to Jashans a few times as a family and have always had a good experience. However this evening was disappointing. The heating was not on and the restaurant was really cold. The food was ok but some of the dishes were luke warm and there was a delay with getting the rice. The waitress was pleasant and helpful but overall there appeared to be some staff issues.

Most of the order didn’t arrive

We have been ordering a take away from this restaurant as we live next door to it in Slateford and it’s always fresh aromatic and delicious Indian meals! Highly recommended. Thanks - Anita & Roland

Potatoes undercooked, not great value for money with the food ordered. Overall not the best experience and with so many options out there now, I won’t be back.

Great food again and good price

Over 40 minutes late over the 1hr 20min they quoted for delivery. The food was delivered and left in a puddle of rain water outside our home. Delivery guy was half way back to his car. I live 10 mins away from this place by car. Totally unacceptable!

Food due by 8.25pm, arrived 8.55pm even though I received a text at 8.20pm saying it was on route. I live 5 mins drive from the restaurant so that doesn’t add up. Food was Luke warm on arrival. Heated up both curries which were fine after that. Popadoms were stale like they had been lying for ages, soggy and horrid. Not impressed, understand Saturday is a busy night but I expect better standards than this

An hour late from the first advised time. Cold greasy food. Poor attempt at customer care, where a member of staff had the audacity to raise his voice at me when I raised my concerns about the poor delivery speed. In short a horrendous experience.

Terrible, lamb tikka jalfrezi was stupidity small portion (the takeaway portion is bigger for 1/3 less of the price) the sauce was reduced far too much. The Nan was tiny, especially considering it cost £3.95! Nearly 4 quid is a lot to charge for bread, you gotta be confident to charge that, but no - it was bog standard. Look, it's basically a takeaway now. I was the best only customer sitting in. They could easily turn this around, by having a menu dedicated to sit in service only. But, and judging by the dishes offered, they lack that ability.
