James Dahl Indian in Birmingham

Absolutely top notch food served with precise attention to detail. Individual flavours are distinctive in plentiful proportions. I'd certainly recommend the ALOO GOSHT MIRCH to anyone. A suttle dish to begin with... tender Lamb and fresh potatoe that allows a kick of warmth to end this delight. It is slightly hot...but great! Quick service, and helpful staff. Cocktails are also splendid. The night starts well... and I'd look to book for next time, and very soon I feel.

We booked a table online which was easy to do. When arrived we were meet by a lovely gentleman showed us to our table. Getting our drinks was a little slow, they sent 1 or 2 drinks over at a time. We understand cocktails take long to do but would of been better to get all drinks at the same time. Food was amazing. Would definitely go again.

An excellent pre theatre meal - really tasty food and prompt service too. We thought the mains were superb: tasty, spicy, and a twist on your standard fare. We’ll be back - theatre or not!

An excellent venue for a post test meal Well located in Chinatown on the trek back from Edgbaston to New Street. A good menu with a range of options. Comfortable setting and helpful staff. Not obviously part of balti belt but a cut above the usual Indian/Bangladeshi restaurant. level access facilities too.

This spot was great for a night out. Its location in the Arcadian is convenient to theaters and clubs, busy and well-lit. The food was excellent, and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I did notice that the host/waiter did not pull out the chair for me. That stood out in my mind.

I booked a table for James Dahl to entertain a group of friends who were visiting from overseas. On route to the venue, I phoned ahead to say that we were running a few minutes behind schedule. I was told that our reservation had been cancelled as the restaurant was being furnished but all customers had been contacted by telephone or email to let them know. This was not the case as I received no cancellation from the restaurant and had been emailed a reservation reminder the previous day. As a result of this, I had to phone around restaurants to find a reservation on a Friday evening at the last minute. This restaurant needs to sort out their booking system and show more consideration for customers. As a result of this experience, I would not recommend James Dahl to anyone.

This is a refined restaurant that offers excellent quality in its food and service with lovely decor. All dishes are cooked well and never had any complaints from anyone who has dined with me. The menu is interesting with some dishes that are not on the mainstream Indian menus. The lamb chop starter was the best i have had anywhere and the King prawn dishes are cooked to perfection, juicy and succulent. I look forward to going back very soon.
