Without a doubt, this was the best Indian food we've ever had - it was amazing. The flavors, choices, tastes were all amazing. The restaurant had a really good vibe - some liveliness, but not overly loud, and service was really good. And the atmosphere was really good - it had an air of formality, but yet still fun. But the food was absolutely amazing - can't wait to go back.

Tbh it was a bog standard Indian meal you could expect to find anywhere. It was nice, but not worth the price tag. Would suggest Gymkhana or Trishna if you’re looking for proper Michelin starred Indian food. Also no one offered to take my coat on arrival which I thought was odd. Had to ask myself if there was a cloakroom.

Pleasantly decorated restaurant. Staff took no major interest in us as guests and did not take us through the menu or introduce the food or concept in any way. The dishes on the menu struck me as unsurprising, uninspiring. Frankly, a bit uninteresting. The flavours were pleasant but not in any way new or exciting. Overall, a very mediocre curry for a rather high price. The way my gin and tonic was presented, meanwhile, reminded me of something from a Wetherspoon. I could not believe we were charged £13 for two cups of tea either. Will not be back, I’m afraid…

I am seriously so upset about going to this rubbish restaurant!! We ended up spending over £200 for a vegetarian meal with 1 alcoholic drink.!! All the food seemed to have the same taste, I mean please….. such pretentious food, which anyone with a sophisticated palate will see is just a plain rip off. And we were sitting in downtown’s where it is so dark!! And it’s Michelin?? Michelin need to go back, because the service is also so mediocre. We go to a lot of restaurants around London and are not afraid of paying more if it merits it!! This sadly doesn’t!! DO NOT Bother going to any Of these restaurants LSL capital, including MIMI Mayfair , the same kind of food, over priced. I have leant my lesson this time., I thought I would give it a go. But do not make the same mistake I have, unless you have money to burn. I think the owners really do need to have a look at their menu and service. Totally a waste of money

I primarily come to restaurants for good food. Sadly i have had better meals in a basic bengali restaurant in brick lane compared to here. we ordered the tasting menu and the main course was some sauce with meat and prawn that was bland lacking any character. The sauces in Asda are better. It was all not negative. the service was impeccable. The sommelier knew his craft . The dining room was one of the nicest in London. Next time i will try the a la carte . But there is so much choice now in London so not visiting here anytime soon.

Amazing service and very tasty food. We were suggested few drinks and dishes by manager which we really enjoyed. All staff including managers are very welcoming. Prices are high but sometimes we have to treat ourselves and I will recommend to try their stone bass fish, dum biryani, chops, pistachio cake, prawns dishes and meat curry Thank you all for such a lovely customer service and making our friends dinner evening memorable.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The tables are a little too close together for my liking and the music a little loud if you’re under a speaker. The staff are excellent. Friendly and knowledgeable. The food though is where it goes wrong. We shared a starter of chicken croquettes. They were mushy on the inside and didn’t taste of much really. I ordered the butter chicken curry and my companion the prawn curry. The chicken was hard as if it had been overcooked in advance of being added to the sauce. The prawns were large and very nice. Both sauces tasted exactly the same. The saffron rice was fine. We didn’t have dessert. We had one cocktail and 2 glasses of wine. £193 including 15% service charge. It says discretionary but I have yet to argue that one.

Booked a reservation here on my first day in London and was not able to get in due to the dress code the host was not accommodating and it put us off from every returning.. went down the street to Dishoom.. a reservation was made in error the following day by my daughter so I immediately called the restaurant to cancel it and the lady on the phone was rude and did not cancel our reservation only for us to be charged over 100 for a cancellation fee pure robbery the worst customer service I have no idea how this restaurant earned a Michelin star Jamavar more like Janvar.. truly disappointing

Average given the price. Nothing particularly bad, but given the price the food quality was about average and nothing really stood out as wow, as you would hope for somewhere charging £50/head. On the face of it the decor looks ornate and impressive, but actually when you looked closer the wood panelling looked tired, and in places may have had black mould on the edges of the mouldings. The atmosphere was also somehow cold and lacking warmth and class — it is possible this was due to a poor choice of lighting, mostly overhead and cold in temperature, and not enough side lighting and of a warmer colour temperature. It was also actually cold! It is not clear why the air conditioning would be on and set to such a low temperature in October. It was too cold for my 74 year old mother, but eventually they did provide a small space heater, which greatly improved things. The staff were friendly and helpful — i.e. with the space heater —and the manager honoured the price I was quoted online, which disagreed with the price in the menu in the restaurant.

Its closed. Thank heavens. Dirty place. Oily food. Hideous. Had a photo of Princess Diana in the window so as to lure in punters. In the photo Diana is running away from this place.

The idea is interesting, small plates but interesting and very well cooked. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable which is a very big plus. We've been a couple of times and will go again.

I had an incredible dining experience at Royal India in Covent Garden. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a beautifully authentic atmosphere that set the tone for a memorable meal. The staff was attentive and friendly, making excellent recommendations tailored to our tastes. The food was truly exceptional—each dish was rich, flavorful, and expertly spiced, capturing the true essence of Indian cuisine. The butter chicken was silky and packed with flavor, while the biryani was aromatic and perfectly balanced. Whether you’re a fan of Indian cuisine or just looking to try something new, Royal India is a must-visit. This is easily one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to in London, and I can’t wait to return!
